  1. Hurr durr vaurca -1 And in a more serious manner, Synthy's a good roleplayer, and the fact that he's a moderator may also weight in the fact that well, he's in for roleplay. For characters interaction, I've always had good one with his characters, especially Yam'hir the engicat and Zephyr the secbot. so I believe in him to play Vaurca (even though f**k vaurcae.) +1
  2. While I never encountered your characters in game (Timezone related reasons, I guess), and thus I'm unable to tell if I like your Roleplaying style or not,I do love the IPC design, going as a "emotionless" (yet curious) Robot. And I also like the idea of a Highly analytical toaster working somewhere these "skills" are required, Forensic, also matching my ideas of "Robots are for work" (But that's just a personal opinion.) So +1 from me
  3. I've been enjoying roleplaying with Lualyrr for quite some times now, or atleast with Kim Lowe. As Dragonspare said, the idea may sounds dull at first, but if you think about it, IPCs (unlike Human, Skrellian, Unathi, Tajaran, Etc...) and especially Industrial one, aren't usually made to be "super original". They're made to fulfill their work. I'm certain they'll be able to pull it off like a charm, as from previous discussions I had with them, they're sharing the same view on robotic, in a "Cold machine" manners.
  4. Server Moderator Application Basic Information Byond Account: Pyrociraptor Character Name(s): PyroBOT CCS Guardian, Helmut Kronigernischultz, Jeanna Sterinzer, Alexandre Rayler, Amelie Gemardier. AI Name(s): None. Preferred means of contact: Discord. Age: 20 Timezone: CET (France) When are you on Aurora?: Good majority of my freetime. During school/work days, atleast on at 18:00 CET Experience How long have you played SS13?: 3 years approximately How long have you played on Aurora: Almost a year and a half. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: I've mostly played on Baystation's builds, and know a lots of mechanic related to it. Still have to learn some of Aurora's related one, and newmap. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: Moderator experience on a public (but hidden from Byond's server list) french server. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: Never banned, except as jokes from staff. (See: Itzal or Serveris kicking me for a bad pun). Personality Why do you play SS13?: I've always liked Roleplay, but I've mostly loved space and anything related to it. So when I accidentally discovered SS13, I've been enjoying the 2D experience of space mistakes and paranoia. Why do you play on Aurora?: If I decided to stay on Aurora, it was because not only is it the only High Roleplay server with actual roleplay and a constructed lore, but it was also for the community. I now feel attached to it. What do moderators do?: Moderators aren't just here to mindlessly enforce rules and apply sanctions. They're here to guide lost players, and make judgements when needed. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: Being a Mods for Aurora means a lot of things. Assuring that Roleplay is maintained, like an engine for the community. Moderating a community isn't about a paycheck or any form of payment. Its an initiative to give some of your free time for something you like. A Moderator isn't here to simply "ban and wind people"; As stated above, they're here to help everyone, and they do it either by simply explaining bits of the lore or a game mechanic, or by helping's everyone Roleplay and immersion by dealing with those breaking it. Why do you want to be a moderator?: After a bit of CCIA work, and seeing the moderation team working, I've wanted to join the team. After a month break to keep my mind clear, and the re-opening of mods app, I'm tempting my chance. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: After taking a month-long break from most of things, I'm now enjoying a clear mind, allowing for a better judgement. I also know when I'm biased for a situation, and the military discipline I grew up with dictates me to make clear decisions, especially if a bias is involved. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: While the common joke on me is being the "Angry Frenchman", I'm actually almost never angry, except as a joke. I've learned, after all these years in school, to not get stressed and deal with everything rationally. I listen and take in considerations critisism, while I don't deal with insults pointed at me. Anything Else You Want to Add: I've changed a lot. I'm now enjoying a calm self.
  5. Type (e.g. Planet, Faction, System): Technology Founding/Settlement Date (if applicable): Researched&Created by Human. Research started since the 21th century. Region of Space: Mostly used in Big Datacenters of human space (Sol Alliance's spaces & Tau) Controlled by (if not a faction): Largest structures owned by Sol Alliance. Other Snapshot information: Heavily inspired from current research on storing datas in "Organic things", such as DNA. (see: DNA digital data storage.) Long Description: Way before the space colonisation era, Human researched on Terra (Third planet of the Sol System) have tried, to solve the issue of data storing technology at the time starting to take too much space, to store as maximum data with the smallest physical volume as possible. These researches lead to the idea of storing digital datas on the support of life itself, DNA. At the time, these researches weren't top priorities, but shortly after a start in Space colonisation and the growing numbers of human, computer technologies usage and the Extranet, a new way to store information without having to build giant structures had to be found. After the first contact and heavy researches on cloning technology, Terra saw the creation of the first "Organic Datacenter", where data would be stored on artificial cells, containing a modified DNA to store any informations. This center was capable to store, in a single room, all the informations of all datacenters on Earth. Today, "DNA Datacenters" are now used to store over hundred of Yettabyte of information, such as a good majority of the Extranet, while traditional datacenters, cheaper, are used to store more local data, such as a small corporation's datas, a school's student lists, etc...
  6. Y'all are fucking disgusting And that's coming from me.
  7. What the actual fucking flying fuck of the seven fuck of the seven sea of this fucking planet is this fuckery.
  8. Welp, Cake is now the Synth Loredev. I suppose we can close this app?
  9. Ckey/BYOND Username: Pyrociraptor Position Being Applied For (coder, mapper, spriter): Synth lore dev (Position now free.) Past Experiences/Knowledge: No proper past Experiences. However, due to the nature of Synthetic, aka "Mechanical/Electronical machinery", my current studies and my hobbies, I am fully capable of doing proper "pseudoscience" on Synthetics using relatable existent knowledge. I've been capable, ICly, to "make-up" explanations on random machinery/objects, and even random xenoarcheology artifacts, thanks to my capacity of improvisation. Examples of Past Work: No proper past work. However, I am currently working on "explanations on IPC and Synthetic units frames/chassis." (For now, still a bunch of ideas that need to be properly written down.) Preferred Mode of Communication (Skype, Steam, etc.): Discord. I'm always on Discord, except when sleeping or during a course. (Discord Desktop + Mobile.) Steam also works. Additional Comments: I have a great capacity of improvisation, as said. It allow me to quickly "make something up" in a really short amount of time. I'm also very organized. I'd like to also explain why do I want to apply for Synthetic lore dev: Since I was a little boy, and especially since I learned to write and read, I've quickly opted for the "science/engineer" path, and especially "robots" (Even if at the time, what I meant by "robots" were the robotic arms used in factory, as an example.) Then, I discovered Space games and Video games at the same time. These space games usually featured Robots/Robot as a race, and it always was the "race" I took. Gave me a real passion toward Robotic and robots in general. I've always enjoyed Movies with robots. (Terminator, Robocop, etc...). TL;DR: I grew up with "robots" in my mind.
  10. Green flannel for the EngIPC !
  11. Here to add my grain of salt: 1.) Well, first off, can cybernetic limbs feel (tact, when touching something)? if not, there are expensive implants that could make so possible? - Today, scientists are managing to make some special implants/touchpad thing connected to the neural system, capable of giving them tact, etc etc. So it would be more of a surprise if it was so rare. After, I suppose the user can choose to have a cybernetic limbs without any of these implants (Maybe if he doesn't want to feel any form of pain there anymore.) 2.) Allthrough i had roleplayed that said limbs need weekly maintenance, is it true? or is it a longer/shorter span? -Depend on the quality and the material. If your character got his cybernetic from some high-quality manufacturer/constructor, you'd expect less maintenance that one built by the freshly graduated roboticist. 3.) It has come to me that several people use cybernetics limb as a reason to say "I'm stronger than you", i do get the point, but are said limbs stronger? i'll admit, if it's one made of metal, of course the impact will do more damage than an organic one, but the point i wanted to reach is, if they are stronger/faster than the original arm - Let's bring a mechanic/physic formule in there: Ek is the Kinetic Energy. The higher it is, the more its gonna hurt. You can see that the weight does have its importance (Density of material used will alter that), but you can also see that V, the speed in m/s, is way more important. So the faster your limb's rotors/motors are, the more its gonna hurt. But, its also gonna increase the power needed to keep it moving. So yeah, its still somewhat a valid reason, except if you have a rusty rotor. 4.) A follow-up from last question, are cybernetic arms just like the previous arm (talking about a stock model)? and, I suppose they can be if you get someone to make a custom one for your necessities - Well, I suppose you could get a custom arm for your need ICly? Like maybe someone working in X job would need an arm with slightly longer fingers? 5.) Can said limbs be implanted to have extra strength/speed/random buff? i see several people claiming so? - Mechanically, I suppose so? I remember Nanakode talking about wanting to add such features or something. But then, I suppose that if someone says that "he implanted his robotarm so it does twice more damage" fall more into the Powergaming/Godmodding rule? 6.) Another trope i've seen several times is the "hit it, i can't fell pain here", this is a mix-up of a lore canonization request and a question, as i would expect, to link the limbs with your brain, you have to make cables go through the stump/injury, when someone gets hit strong enough (dent), internal circuits and sensitive wires go off, causing pain to the stump by the wires sparks making contact to the skin (assumed so because the "health-bar" does determine one's pain and how they can hold up in front of it) - Healthbar going down is just Game Mechanics. But then, as answered in question 1, You could chose to have a cybernetic limb that's capable of "receiving" pain and transmitting to you. Since, to control it, you'd probably need to link it to your brain/nervous system, if it got damaged to a certain point, You'd expect to feel pain there or atleast some kind of weird sensations (Maybe like a permanent itching sensation until you get it fixed? Maybe permanent pain?)
