  1. Reporting Personnel: Alice Watts Rank of Reporting Personnel: Captain Game ID: bUZ-bcoM Personnel Involved: (Name, Rank: Offender/Witness/Other (Ckey)) - Evangeline Du Dancion, Chief Engineer, Offender (AlFalah) - Nyarai Eze, Security Officer, Witness (Kyres1) - Spencer Seelig, Security Cadet, Witness Time of Incident: 05:30 approx Real time: 21:30 +10, 22/06/18 Location of Incident: Robotics Lab, Bridge Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property []Neglect of Duty []Harassment []Assault [X]Misconduct []Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: (General description of the incident, to include as much detail as is deemed necessary) At around the time listed above I was doing a quick check of suit sensors (As I do on occasion when there is very few medical staff), and noticed that the sensors for Ms Dancion's sensors placed her in the robotics lab. Knowing she doesn't have access there, I checked the cameras. Much to my surprise, I directly witnessed her hacking one of the machines inside the lab (Presumably to remove access requirements). She then took a battery out of said machine, exited the lab, and opened up the maintenance panel on the main robotics door to presumably remove evidence it was tampered with. I of course confronted Ms Dancion over command radio, asking her to own up to the actions and admit that a breach of regulation was made. If she was to cooperate at this stage, admit her wrongdoing and return the item, then I would have dropped any potential charges that could be brought against her. Instead, she remained stubborn, refusing to admit that she broke regulation. This continued for a time, where my attempts to open a dialogue with her were continually shot down and ignored. After around fifteen minutes, I offered an ultimatum, stating that if she continued to refuse that charges would be brought against her. Her obstinate nature didn't change once this was issued, so I proceeded with creating the arrest warrant. Continuing to track her on sensors to a breach in the station caused by cavern dwellers, I called an officer to the location and waited outside for her exit. Note that there were two engineering synthetics active at the time, so her presence at the locale was not needed, and wouldn't have deprived the station of its only engineering staff. After emerging from the locale, refusing many orders to come out in an immediate fashion in the process, she was finally confronted by Officer Eze. She was presented with the warrant, but refused to be restrained at my order. I explained to her that her constant refusal to cooperate, and her lack of any sort of guilt, marked her as a risk that couldn't be transported freely. Officer Eze did not escalate force at my order (An action that I can commend somewhat, and have no issue with), and so a stalemate begun. Ms Dancion constructed a chair in the hallway to sit in as the stalemate continued, smoking and drinking while I began to lecture her for her behavior. Due to this stalemate none of the charges brought against her (Tresspassing, Petty Theft, Failure to Follow Orders), were never officially marked on her record. Even if no additional action is taken against her, these charges should still be placed onto her record as they were lawfully ordered and authorized. Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: There was no higher power on station to report the incident to Actions taken: > Initial verbal warning, attempt to extract some form of recognition for regulations broken > Arrest warrant issued once attempts to open a dialogue were ignored Additional Notes: Her attitude and conduct throughout the shift was not fitting of a head of staff, and her blatant ignorance of regulations and the chain of command is concerning. Until such a time as her behavior has been rectified, it is of my opinion that she should not serve as a command staff.
  2. I was going to wait until cake made their post about having had a talk with Spanishman, so that I could make a clean final post and archive this. No such luck. As it stands Spanishman will be warned for the validhunting behavior on the server. This will be left unlocked until the final verdict from Cake comes in regarding synth play.
  3. Got halfway through completely renovating the old bar with my pal O-O-S. If we had worked on it from before the 1h mark we'd probably have finished with time to spare.
  4. The original complaint was made during the round, before staff had properly dealt with the situation at hand. After staff dealt with the issue, the player mentioned they would not be posting this complaint. Locking and archiving.
  5. I think that you're making a mountain out of a molehill, Keinto. Your grievances about how many skills a single character has doesn't need to be about the good of the entire server, this isn't a class action lawsuit. Even with that being said, I won't deny you an explanation or justification for why Omari can do what she can. First of all, you seem to have misinterpreted what exactly she did, since you were looking through the cameras at the time and didn't see any of the visible action messages. You seem to think that she carefully opened up the panel, cut all the wires, and removed the door from play that way. If she did do that, then that would mean she has a station engineer's worth of training, but she didn't do that. In fact, she did something a lot more fitting of an officer used to using brute force methods. The panel was bashed open using brute force, the bolts clumsily cut through with a welder, and the chunk of metal that used to be a door was pried open. So already you should be able to see that you have overestimated the skills she possesses, but let me go further ahead and justify the skills that she does have. I'd like to preface this by saying that I ran the skillset past another member of staff, which they okayed after some discussion and reworkings, so it's not like I came to this conclusion autonomously. Omari, as stated in her fleshed out records, enlisted in the PRA military when she was 17. During her five years of service she was specialized as a combat engineer, giving her a basic understanding of tools and how to use them to deconstruct simple structures such as basic walls (Which is a thick sheet metal supported by an internal strut system) and brute forcing open airlocks by clumsily smashing them open and tearing out the innards. Such things do not seem so out of reach for someone with training as a sapper.
  6. Alright, I'll be handling this complaint/contesting. Give me a bit to look over everything, and I'll come back with what I find. EDIT: Wait no, I'm not handling this particular complaint, I'm handling the thing about JAIS. Thanks for clearing that up Abo <3
  7. Ban appeal accepted. Locking and archiving.
  8. I will lift this ban under the condition that you conduct yourself to the standards of the server, and remember to ask staff if you are unsure about a situation. Please realise that any poor displays of security play will most likely end up with this ban being reapplied. I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt after months of playing elsewhere, but you will be under heavy scrutiny.
  9. As I said in the comments on the PR, stopping the ERT from spawning straight up for half an hour is going a bit too far. A good idea would be to let the ERT spawn in, but delay the shuttle until an arbitrary timer runs out. It also seems like a good idea to add a risk/reward factor to the swipe, so that it isn't always a guaranteed win button for command. Give it maybe a 1/4 or 1/3 chance to spawn a mercenary strike team or something similar. The IC reasoning for the mercs showing up would be that they intercepted the emergency transmission, and have decided to swoop in and take over while the station is weak.
  10. Hi! I'll be handling this appeal request. I'm going to be handling this much like your other appeal was handled, putting some strict conditions on your play from here on out. Before I do go lifting anything though, I’d like you to recount in more detail the final situation that got you this ban, and then list how the situation could have been handled better.
  11. -1 to this suggestion, right off the bat. The job of an atmospheric technician is to manage the flow and mix of the gasses in central station area, and there is a good reason that the engineer and atmos tech roles are separate. Point 2, station engineer currently has the alt title of engine technician, so there is already a slot dedicated to the setup and maintenance of the engine. Though the atmos technician might provide the gases required for the engine, only someone specially trained in the setup and maintenance of the engine would know which gases go where, how much, and how that effects the engine's potential power output.
  12. You seem to have missed the entire point of the paragraph. To avoid any more confusion I'll break it down into its base components. >Xerei has a chemistry professor >Professor is a follower of Weishii >Xerei doesn't believe in Weishii and thinks that any extra curricular rituals are a waste of time >Once the course was completed Xerei realised that the Weishii stuff didn't actually impact on her learning >This makes Xerei rethink her usual prideful reaction and conceede that what she learnt was valuable, even if she disagreed with some of the professor's views The whole point of this revaltion was to subvert her beforehand prideful thinking that would influence her to disregard information or lessons from people that weren't considered valuable. I'm probably mincing the fuck out of what I mean, but hopefully that should be enough. - The intention was to never make Xerei really important or noteworthy. I wanted to give them closure in that particular arc without disturbing overreaching lore too much, but I can see your concerns. I thought of it more like developing something similar to Ryetalyn, or making a foundation technology that had a use but didn't actually yet have any application outside of the lab. If it would put any fears at rest I could specify that this work was only acheived in Neaera, and that no actual Skrellian test subjects were used because of ethical concerns. This still gives Xerei a thesis to put into records, but isn't so groundbreaking that it would mess up lore in general. - I dont believe in directly inputting all of those fine details into an application that is meant to show general backstory and understanding of the lore. If you want to find out what food she likes, or what music she listens to, then I think that you should interact with them ICly to find out. Whats the point in putting up every detail and blueprint of the character for everyone to see? Theres no development or intercharacter relationships built by doing that, and I would much rather people take the time ICly to find things out about a character. Besides, trying to insert details like that would be clunky at best, as I would have to shoehorn them in.
  13. I suppose I should clear up the misconceptions that Mofo has with this character, as there are a lot of them. God this notepad document has been sitting open on my PC for at least 72 hours or so while I finish Mass Effect 1 and 2 but DAMMIT I NEED TO FINISH AND POST THIS. I have highlighted in red a discrepancy in your application. A skrell's headtails have the same skin as the rest of the skrell, get this different color business outta here. The reason that there is a very slight color change is to make the sprite more pleasing to look at. I took input from some skrell players and worked with them to develop a good color set. It isn't too obvious in game, but side by side the difference is noticeable and the slightly darker head tails look much nicer. - Ok, so the main focus of the work was genetics. That's the most obvious path in order to try and cure the species wide sterilization that the Skrell have going on. They're not a fully fledged virologist by any stretch of the imagination, they just know the theory behind attaching shit to a virus and setting it loose in the body to change genes, which has a foot firmly planted in the science of today. The idea of using chemistry came from the notion of "Well nobody's really tried this before because they're all focused on established methods, lets try something new." - The app was already pretty long so I did need to cut out some bits, or just leave them as they were. The chemistry classes were separate from the Weishii stuff, so learning still happened in class, there was just some extra shit tacked on that Xerei thought could be spent doing other shit. Once she finally graduated she realised that she still learnt shit from this professor, even if she thought the Weishii was bullshit. Which links into the partial agreement and partial name taking. - I was being flowery with my language when I said epiphany, since the basis for writing a good story is good use of language. But the premise for a lesson learned is still there, the idea that you can still value shit even if you don't like the person that made it. Also, I don't think being taught chemistry and a moral is enough of a reason to marry someone, it seems kind of shallow and short lived. - You misunderstand what I said. Proving that there is a basis for a certain technique to be viable avenue in the future isn't me saying "And then Mary Sue solved all the problems of her race". It's saying that a contribution was made towards the progress of the final goal (Which fulfils a character arc), but not enough to be noteworthy or named in lore. What am I, someone that demands my character be placed in the notable persons section of their species lore page? - I'll glaze over the comment about Mary-Suing the genophage since I've already explained that part of your gripes. After the completion of the master thesis I started to make a soft transition from hardcore scientist into leader position. Once again, the app was already getting long so I might've glazed over some details, but the arc is still there. During work on the thesis Xerei would have presumably overseen a small team in the hardcore research phase, doing some task delegation. When signing on with Nanotrasen she started to slowly step back from being an active scientist to more of a leader. After all, it's generaly expected that heads of staff delegate instead of doing everything themselves. This change in her work would have slowly changed her attitude and manner over the years, leading her towards a more command focused position like captain. - So you'd like to know more about the smaller details of Xerei's life? Well, I suggest that you... Find out ICly. Seriously though, your understanding and comprehension skills go right out the window when you drink. I really suggest being sober when trying to seriously analyse a big block of text.
  14. BYOND Key: ezuo Character Names: https://i.imgur.com/CDMP6ud.png Species you are applying to play: Skrell What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Body: 100 180 225 Headtails: 65 160 210 Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: No, but I have comissioned an OC picture linked in the notes section. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I want to expand my borders into playing a new species, and reading the lore has made me really interested in Skrell. I also want to powergame with those sweet no slip feet mechanics. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Well there is of course the general speech manerisms that Skrell display when speaking languages other than Nral'Malic. That is, somewhat emotionless and leaving out grammar in favor of being more efficient. They are also reknown for being rather prideful, and not rising to the insults of others. They also place value in logic above other pursuits. Character Name: Xerei Quexan'Lii Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Xerei Quexan was born on Qerrbalak in the year 2371 to a world still crippled after the downfall of Glorsh-Omega. They had no siblings, and spent their early years watching the continuing rebuilding of her fractured race. Every year brought the news of another contacted colony, and another group of Skrell stranded in the nearby cosmos. At the age of seventeen, in an event she still remembers to this day, Xerei was able to be a part of a newly founded Federation across Skrell space. This unification brought Xerei much hope for a brighter future, and made her determined to be a part of the many dedicated towards the healing the old wounds of synthetic opression. As a part of this resolution Xerei began to dedicate herself to the study of medicine and genetics. First came the knowledge of the body itself, how it functioned and what could disrupt those functions. Next game the picking apart of each cell, observing and learning from the very building blocks of life itself. Then, the changing of those building blocks via direct radioactive manupulation, or the usage of viruses as a vector for gene manipulation. But Xerei knew that all these avenues had been gone down before, and that there must be another way to reverse the genophage. The answer came to her as she was mixing a compound for feeding viruses. Chemistry. The road to mastering chemistry was not as easy as it was medicine or genetics, however. Xerei's advanced classes and projects were lead by an old professor by the name of Liixanri Klip-Weirun. Liixanri was a follower of Weishii, and brought certain views and ideas into the lessons that Xerei disagreed with. While Liixanri saw their work as a spiritual endeavour, Xerei saw Weishiian spirituality as inefficient and a waste of precious time. It seemed irrational to her that time that could be spent on peer review and extra testing was instead invested in small ceremonies and giving thanks to famous scientists of old. It was not until the submission of her final paper that Xerei made an important realisation, that the knowledge and skills gained from her professor were still valuable, even if she did not agree with some of their beleifs. This epiphany brought with it much wisdom, and made Xerei greatful for all knowledge Liixanri had brought her, be it chemical or otherwise. She took the first part of Liixanri's name and attatched it to her own, symbolising to herself that even partial agreements can bring with them much knowledge and mutual benefit. That one does not need to totally agree with someone before accepting their advice, and to keep an open mind to those around her in order to not have her ideas and ideals stagnate. She parted ways with her professor as Xerei Quexan'Lii, naming Liixanri as her most valued Quualt'Xizos. At the age of 41 Xerei began her work as a researcher proper in the year 2412. Luckily the Extranet was created in the very next year, allowing her to expand the limits of her research further than she ever could have imagined. Two and a half decades passed in the pursuit of her ultimate goal, the usage of chemicals in the body as a catalyst for safe and reliable genetic change in an effort to reverse the genophage. At the end of this time period she published her master thesis, conclusively proving the basis for the usage of chemicals to alter genetic structure, and paving the way for future researchers to continue her work in this vein. After the completion of her thesis in 2437, Xerei found herself somewhat lost on what path to next take. After some deliberation she decided that she would strive to step out into the cosmos, and continue to unravel the great mysteries of her field in a new enviroment. Given Xerei's extensive experience and aptitudes she had no difficulty securing an employment contract with NanoTrasen, and was appointed as Research Director aboard the NSS Redemption. It is here that her skills in leading a team of researchers were refined, as she faced the challenges of learning to read the emotions of and command other species from around the galaxy. After years of dutiful service she was offered the position of captain, an offer she accepted. Not only did she see this step up as something she deserved, but through the years Xerei had grown more and more accustomed to stepping back and directing the efforts of others instead of directly taking part in research activities. What do you like about this character? Well, I put a lot of effort into the backstory, and that surely counts for something. But I also like how their long lifespan allows me to add a lot more detail to their past. The culture and customs of the Skrell were fun to weave into the character, and I feel like they have grown and changed from all of their experiences. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Is roleplay that thing where I get to explode people's heads with shotgun slugs? I'd rate myself pretty highly on the roleplay scale. Notes: https://i.imgur.com/DyS3fur.png
  15. BYOND Key: ezuo Character name: Es'tana Grajahn Item name: Crowbar of Divine Strength Why is your character carrying said item to work? They are carrying it to work as a memento and as a lucky charm. It was "enchanted" as a small joke during a shift, where a fellow crew member was rolling dice and labeling items with enchantments. The crew member rolling the dice was getting very low rolls, so Es'tana rolled her own dice for the crowbar. She got a 19 on a d20 and an 8 on a d8, which created the crowbar of divine strength. She kept the crowbar, spruced it up a bit, and now uses it during work hours. Item function(s): It functions exactly like a normal crowbar. Item description: "An ordinary crowbar that has been spray painted red, and has had some lights rigged to it. It pulsates a yellow light." Item appearance: A little something like this, but it is animated and pulsates. How will you use this to better interact with crew and/or stimulate RP? The item has an interesting story behind it, and the fact that they will be using it constantly as part of their work brings up natural opportunities for others to inquire about the item, instead of artificially flaunting it around to get questions. It might even inspire other crew to "enchant" their items. Additional comments: It has already been sprited and coded, and the git branch can be found here (based off of master).
