Cargo Technician

Cargo Technician (4/37)

  1. I have to apologise, I've been away for a couple of days. I should be back online Tomorrow, though.
  2. Alright, I'll switch it up a little. Also, he didn't really want action, he more wanted to order, discipline and to have his name acknowledged instead of being a Minion. Edit: Updated
  3. I totally get what you're saying. Forgive me for saying this, but how else would a Security officer be promoted for such a position? Would it be from experience or just because they needed somebody to fill in? I admit, I don't like that model either, but I just don't see another way. I'm willing to edit my backstory, either way.
  4. BYOND key: Awesomeguy002 Character names: MaESa Janibot Elliot Holland Gary Thompson Mortimer Solez Fernando Griffin Security Robot-275 There were a lot others, but I deleted them since I just recently got back from a long-term leave of absence and wanted to start anew. How long have you been playing on Aurora?: My memory's a little shonky, but I've been playing actively for a couple months. I've been playing sparingly for another 10. I might be a month or two off, like I was in my last application. I'm going to try to be a bit more active than last time. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Being Head of Staff opens up a new array of possibilities to teach and lead new players and enables new opportunities to engage in a different variety of roleplay - Leadership. Why did you come to Aurora?: It was definitely the Heavy Roleplay thing. I've been in and out of the RP scene for years, and SS13 was a great game. Aurora put two and two together and that's what kept me here. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes, I have. I also - No matter the significance of the role - usually have a tab open in the background for reference. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is - put simply - development of a character. It is embodying a unique personality and appearance, and convincingly acting out said person through a Narrative. It's making a new person and expressing that man convincingly and of the quality you would expect from a real person. It's a vessel to be somebody you aren't, an insight to such a universe one could only dream about. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Heads of Staff maintain cohesion and communication between different departments. They also assist in the uptake, promotion and demotion of personnel. They also promote efficiency and push Nanotrasen's values and ideals. Thus, they're expected to be stellar employees and proven loyal to the Corporation's beliefs through maximising profits and minimizing expenses, usually through questionable business tactics. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: One of the big ones is probably being helpful and respectful. They're expected to teach and guide people, such goals only accomplishable without bias. The other big one is one not restricted only to Heads of Staff, it's almost common - following the server rules. You wouldn't get anywhere if you're busy flooding Maintainence with phoron or if you're speaking Russian over common. Lastly, you need to be knowledgable. If you know a rat's ass about surgery or Medicine, yet you're CMO, how are your expected to teach somebody something you don't know? Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Elliot Holland Character age: 33 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Elliot Holland's childhood was relatively underwhelming. There was not much to speak of. He attended School, whined and had unrealistic aspirations like any other kid. His Parents were both born into militaristic occupations, as with the family before them and so on. His Father was a rank-and-file Law Enforcement officer while his Mother persued Criminal Law. Because of this, at a young age, Elliot was instilled with a sense of Duty and the expectation that later in his life he was to uphold the conservative beliefs of his parents, enrolling in the Military or some sort of position in Law. That happened. Once he graduated, he decided to follow suite of his parents by making a living through being a Civilian Security guard. It was an underwhelming and unrewarding position to say the least. He was paid peanuts in exchange to stand around and look fancy for eight hours a day for over a year. He got his break through his parents, who provided an opportunity to attend the New Seoul Combat Training Centre. With his own accumulated profits, he travelled with a light reliance on his parents to finance him, though continued persuing an occupation with the big Corporations through picking up whatever odd jobs he could appeal to him to continue paying for his tuition. To him, all of Nanotrasen's actions were honorable in the name of Science. Nanotrasen's persuit of capable security personnel was an added bonus. He didn't care what Nanotrasen was doing, so as long as he could take part in some gnarly fireteam instead of patrolling beats or being some sodden desk jockey. He wasn't going to fall victim to the fate of being trapped in a meaningless career where his say meant nothing and he was mearly a cog in a bigger machine, or some sort of minion. The Aurora's Security Force was almost a second family to him. Everybody knew eachother and everybody had a say, albeit a negligable one. It also beat the wage of any other career. He got what he wanted, and it only took 11 years. After 11 years of extended loyalty and tolerable performance, Nanotrasen saw fit to promote him to the rank he demanded. And Elliot accepted the offer graciously, now working towards a comfortable retirement, not some self-imposed life goal. What do you like about this character?: He's very loyal, not robotic though. Bureaucratic, but still puts his own interests first. Still has emotion and respects others just like he would himself, just with a tint of loyalty. What do you dislike about this character?: There is not much I dislike about this character, though if I had to choose, he's a little larrikin. Double edged sword, I like characterisation but that sort of personality can lead to a few issues IC. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: Well, like I've mentioned before, loyalty can get in the ways of things. Roleplaying becomes a bit more of a chore when you have to watch what you say to prevent compromising your Backstory. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I hold myself in somewhat high regard. I'm confident in my ability and confident that I can uphold not only my own expectations, but the expectations of others. Extra notes: My presence might be a little fragmented. I should be able to get on for entire days sometimes, but not at all on others. I hope that's acceptable.
  5. BYOND key: Awesomeguy002 Character names: Hugo Mildred - Science Derek Stafford - Security Leonard Owens - Medical MaESa - Cyborg/Medical How long have you been playing on Aurora?: About a year. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I really want to get somewhere in rounds. Being a Head of Staff on Aurora is pretty prestigious, and it's much different than maining the exact same occupation each round. I want to command people, I want to manage a department - Not any of this same old department drivel round after round. Why did you come to Aurora?: I wanted a server which people just buckled down and did their jobs. I like a slow-paced and passive SS13 experience. I also wanted a smaller community, which helped rounds devolve into less of a shitstorm by the end. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: In and out. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplaying (In my opinion) is embodying a character and projecting their prior backstory and experiences, as well as refining and adding new additions onto them through roleplaying with others. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Heads of Staff serve not only to Department maintain partnership and communication, but also serve as a management figure to handle the Internal issues which arise within departments. As well as this, they serve as a role model to assist the novice/learning department population. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: I've said this before, but I think the Heads of Staff serve to maintain a good relationship with the Server's population. This would be done by not being a dick and upholding the Server's rules to the book. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Hugo Mildred. Character age: 47 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Hugo Mildred was born in the Sol System, Earth on the Fifth of December, 2402. His Father a Pharmaceutical researcher for Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals and his Mother a Financer for Indris Incorporated, Hugo's early-life was somewhat mediocre, though at the age of Eight he was rendered necessitate of Pescription glasses due to inherited issues with his eyesight. Once his schooling was completed, Hugo sought education from the Solis Cognito University, earning both a Bachelours and eventually a Masters Degree in Chemistry. He began work as his father once did - With Zeng-Hu pharmaceuticals. After two years, he returned to his education with Solis Cognito, earning a PhD in Chemistry. After this, still seeking the knowledge of which he was obsessed with the acquisition off, he sought to become educated from the Lunar University of Medical science. He never completed his education. Though either way, he returned to work at Zeng-Hu for the large majority of his life before transferring his occupation over to the Interstellar Conglomerate Nanotrasen - Convinced he was to be part of the next big Phoron breakthrough. What do you like about this character?: His age opens up a lot of opportunities for passive roleplay, which I hold in such high regard for being slow-paced and calm. It is why I came to Aurora, after all. What do you dislike about this character?: As much as I like pacifism, it's a curse in itself. SS13's combat system has proven pretty entertaining to me. And though I don't like my character engaging in Combat, I find it pretty entertaining nonetheless. Other than that, I feel like Hugo lacks the sort of condition I have acquired myself. Often I find myself accidently breaking character due to my own personal emotion. I'm planning on making an entirely new character if I get accepted, one with a similar temperament to myself. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: He's quite calm, quite well-mannered and has many great ambitions for his future. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: Pretty good, pretty good. I've been roleplaying for a few years, but It took me a while to suit the SS13 culture, since the prior (Not SS13) community I was a part of lacked similar standards SS13 did, which I was already accustomed to. Extra notes: No extra notes.
  6. Charging a Cultist with a Stunbaton and Beanbag shotgun is a pretty good way to get stabbed to death, especially after you try to get back up and punch the people who disabled you in the face. It's hard to engage in roleplay when you get shot in the head with a Beanbag mid-emote. I got tired of trying to sit there and deal with you so I decided to just off you so the people with more sense and ultimately patience would potentially decide to roleplay. The bold face lie that is this post just makes me dislike you even more. I never carried a stun baton that entire round -You already had a stun baton. Furthermore, you chased ME down in the medbay, repeatedly following me while I backed up. F U R T H E R M O R E, when I did get back up after being critted, I ran two tiles away from you, then typed /rest and tried to emote, and you ran over and started stabbing me. Don't try to spread lies to defend yourself at my expense. The rest verb is right beside the Say verb, that's all I remember. Otherwise, I didn't have a Baton. Just the blade. Never chased anybody. Neither of us have evidence to support this, however so I won't try to deny anything else. I think you may have mistaken me for somebody else, anyways.
  7. Charging a Cultist with a Stunbaton and Beanbag shotgun is a pretty good way to get stabbed to death, especially after you try to get back up and punch the people who disabled you in the face. 8. Yeah, I talked about that with Cake. Let me tell you, and trust me with this. The image is doctored. It's not hard to seclude yourself and say something and slap it on the end, or to lie for that matter. Most of it, atleast. r/SS13 likes to circlejerk around Snowflakey behaviour so I decided to screw around a bit for the Karma. Of course, I didn't actually put Ethanol in his drugs, or I told him to take Cyanide, that was fake. Added in post. If that offended you, or Stockman, I do apologise. The intent wasn't to offend or be a jackass, but to have a laugh with some of the other guys on the Sub. Had I intended to finger him out and try to brigade him, I wouldn't have gone the length to censor his name or to not doctor and say it to his face. But with that being said, I am sorry. For being an asshole and poking fun at Stockman and bullying him with a bunch others on the massive Social Media platform Reddit. Now, with the Department problem I hear quite the bit about. That's been sorted. There was some turbulence with Hu-T.A.P's experience and backstory, but now It's been completely secluded to Medical - More specifically Paramedical/Medical Doctor. There's no need to go on about it, since the problem has been resolved and it was resolved quite quickly. I was merely trying a few things out with his backstory before deciding to settle in my roots as medical.
  9. Oh, yeah. I was a bit of an idiot when I first joined. Didn't take anything seriously. Rest assured, I'm still pretty regretful. You have my word that I am taking the Server and it's rules seriously now.
  10. Alright. I guess I can change it to something simple, like Custodial work and Other civillian jobs. I can change the Pantheon to a generic Hephaestus station, I guess. And I'll also increase his age.
  11. BYOND Key: Awesomeguy002 Character Names: Hugo Mildred Derek Stafford MaESa Species you are applying to play: Integrated Positronic Chassis Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: IPCs are unique in the fact that they are not bound with normal Organic limitations. Not only is their anatomy different, but their appearance and behaviour is, too. It also opens many boundaries synonymous with intelligence and Emotion. They're Robots - They talk, move and think differently. I hope to utilise this to create an interesting character that is not bound with the restrictions of knowledge. It sounds a bit power-gamey, but I can rectify that issue easily enough with some proper decisions and actions. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Like I said above, there are some massive physiological differences with a Human and an IPC. The one that appeals to me most, however, is the IPCs being entirely synthetic in nature - Which can lead to some pretty interesting interactions IC, which rise above and beyond the standard order of things. Roleplay carries on differently, with even the most basic of actions affected by the IPC physiology and if you could call it that - Psychology. Character Name: Hu-TAP Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Hu-TAP, was developed aboard a Hephaestus Industries Production Station, in the Sol system for manual labour - Most significantly handling Cargo and Supply on Hephaestus industry ships as Shaft Miners and Cargo Techs for a short time, before being subsequently pawned of to a smaller Corporation and stripped for parts, sold and distributed across the galaxy. Most likely melted down to scrap, or maybe sold to be some Fat-Cat's new prosthetic limb. His Positronic brain was spared such a fate, however, as eventually, Hu-T.A.P found his positronic Brain purchased by a certain Inter-stellar conglomerate by the name of Nanotrasen, where he was re-created, albeitly with an alternative build - Using Zeng-Hu Pharmaceutical brand limbs and organs, paired with Hu-TAP's Hephaesteus Positronic brain and put to work as a Chemist aboard the NSS Redemption. This was somewhat short-lived in the general scheme of things, as 2 years later he was yet again re-commissioned to be used as for menial labour aboard the NSS Aurora, doing whatever is seemed of importance by Central command - mainly Custodial work and other Civillian jobs, undesirable for most organics. After a few years of continued service, Hu-T.A.P was tentatively assigned to roles of more importance. Acting as Research assistants and interns, eventually promoted to full positions after 5 years of interchanged service, due to his almost Robotic Loyalty to Nanotrasen. What do you like about this character? Inexperience, mainly. Hu-TAP has only been active for around 7-9 years, and is yet to discover what the Universe has to offer. I did this intentionally, because I wanted to act as a "Clueless" sort of IPC. "Clueless" as in unknowledgable within many fields. This'll let me 'Main' certain occupations I not only enjoy, but know well enough to be able to roleplay as an Inexperienced member of staff. How would you rate your role-playing ability? About above-average, I guess. I'm pretty confident, especially since I've had previous experience.
  12. Code: Select all BYOND key: Awesomeguy002 Character names: Derek Stafford MaESa Hu-T.A.P Hugo Mildred How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Ever since I began playing SS13, but there was an intermission for when I was banned. So ~3-4 weeks. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Mainly for Character development. But I also usually see a distinct lack of Staff Heads, so that too. Why did you come to Aurora?: The Serious roleplay was the main appeal, as well as the good Coding and graphics work which made it stand out from the others. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay, in my opinion, is the impersonation of a Fictional character to promote and develop a Story or Narrative. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Staff heads are there to keep order to their assigned department and to run it with maximum efficiency. Department heads are also there to reprimand mis-performing staff members and SoP violations. They also take a leading role - Guiding and educating inexperienced staff members. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: The most important one would be quality. A good Head of Staff would follow SoP, the Server's and Station's rules and do it without error. They would also be expected to (Atleast in my opinion) have atleast a decent level of roleplay quality. Striving to uphold them would be simple - Just don't not do it. I've played these sorts of Command/"High-ranking" roles long enough, as well as SS13 in general that this has become second nature to me. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Derek Stafford Character age: 46 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Derek stafford was born in 2421 in the Sol system, his family descended from a noble line of Soldiers, Law Enforcers, Lawyers and Detectives. It was to no surprise that Stafford, too, followed the same route his family had for over generations. His childhood was uneventful, his industrious attitude fueled by his ambition. Frequently, David spoke with his Father - who often enjoyed speaking of the operation and use of the Weapons in his line of work. To everybody's surprise, Stafford's ability to walk was permanently hindered after fracturing his Femur - As a result of a laser weapon misfire during a training drill at the New Seoul Combat Training Centre. At the age of 22, Derek was forced to walk with a permanent limp due to Medical complications. His education was completed without further complication and now serves aboard the NSS Aurora for Nanotrasen, his work focused primarily around paper and field work. What do you like about this character?: If anything, how bland Stafford is is what appeals to me most. There's no "I'm an Orphan" or "Syndicate killed my Dog" or "I blew my legs off because I misused a Microwave". I don't have to spend time roleplaying extreme disabilities, but can roleplay to the extent that my Character isn't a special snowflake without any sort of flaw or downside. After all - Nobody's perfect. What do you dislike about this character?: Not really anything. Like I said above, I worked him to not be completely perfect and special, but enough to that he's not completely incompetent. He's completely, 100% average. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: His loyalty, most likely. Not just to Nanotrasen but his family line. If he went ahead and flipped the bird to his family's past, he'd be shunned and grilled by his family until he finally passes. But his experience would be good for the exact same reason - There's an incentive to. If he does poorly, not only will he lose his only source of income, but just like before - His family's gonna be real pissed. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: Above average, I guess. I've been roleplaying in many other games and communities so I'm definitely not Inexperienced. Extra notes: No additional notes.
