  1. Might be worth looking into adding a second grinder, honestly. An entire second set-up maybe. There can be two Xenobotanists, can't there? That would adjust this topic slightly into more of a mapping thing.
  2. The kitchen starts with large beakers (three, one in each of the grinders), the garden starts with one in their grinder, and, to my knowledge, Xenobotany starts with one in their grinder as well and actually has a direct line to people that can print off extra with no trouble. A grinder can hold ten items for grinding at a time. I've not really run into an issue with that, even grinding a lot of things--everything gets done at different times, so I just make the trips while waiting for the next batch to grow. Granted, it wouldn't be game-breaking to be able to grind up fifteen instead of ten things, but I've not seen it used to capacity very much. Maybe others have?
  3. This is (or should be) already a thing, as per the Makeshift Chemistry PR: I don't know how powerful it is, though.
  4. What VT says is totally true, but also new, useful tools are always welcome. Bit niche, but I was thinking a type of tool that gives a much higher chance for strange rocks to give their contents rather than dust (as per a welder). Miners sometimes find them and there's no reason to take them along.
  5. That's. Yeah, that's strange. For some reason, I was thinking there was only the one sink in the backroom. That was inconvenient about a year ago, if I remember correctly. But since there are in fact two, it probably should've been replaced long ago.
  6. So... You're nerfing something you see no one going to do anyway? That doesn't make sense. That sounds like the opposite of balancing. You're pushing something that you see as lesser, even lower, to make the one that's comparatively good, even better. That's just silly, isn't it? If miners can get a little (and I do mean, a little. 6 or less, diamonds usually far fewer. Perhaps two on average.) of each material through digging for a half an hour right now on top of about 500 sheets of glass, I don't see how that's a bad thing. It's not like they're fully supplying the whole station with piles of diamonds. It's glass and a smattering of mats to keep science occupied and get their KA upgrade. … The same as anyone using a Class E KA. To put things into perspective. You can dig 1 turf safely 10 times (on the 11th time you dig down to the next level). During that dig, you have a high chance (but not a guarantee) of getting a pile of sand and/or a piece of material. Yes, there are legitimately times when you dig a turf and you get nothing. There are times when you dig a turf and get only a piece of coal. Digging multiple turfs at a time offsets that chance because it will usually be a net gain of material. It's mindless work, it's slow work, and if you're fast you can even tab out to switch songs while you're digging and not lose time. I know you haven't played much mining, so you don't really know how it all relates together, but that's what I'm trying to get across. Shovels are literally innocent here. No one wants to shovel more than necessary. It's not bad to get a couple diamonds over to research before you get your Epic KA. I'm certain scientists appreciate it. It's just a different way of accomplishing the early game hurdle all miners have to go through.
  7. I thought the point of a receipt was the customer keeps it to know what they paid for? Also please don't replace the sink. The sink is actually useful. For, you know, dumping drinks.
  8. This concept is brought up a lot. It gets tiring. Oftentimes, it's a matter of our economy making no inherent sense. I've seen pizzas charged for 20 credits, I've seen them charged for 120 credits. There's no "I'm getting a good deal!" or "That's a fair price!" feeling when we see the numbers, because they don't mean anything. One shift you can have $100, the next you have $1000. There's a reluctance to pay money when you aren't sure what you're paying money for. You could be giving away a third of your living wage for a pie. And sometimes, a chef or bartender just doesn't want to. The charging minigame isn't fun to everyone. So it becomes a matter of nice convenience for everyone to chat to each other instead of bringing up the metalephant in the room of our economy making no sense.
  9. Basically what everyone else was saying. Fold the option of being a Karaphact or a Hopeful into the TCFL, let Karaphacts and Hopefuls join up to prove themselves. A third response team just for one species is asking for trouble. It opens the need for there to be Skrell response teams, Tajara response teams... It gets to be too much.
  10. I have concerns. It’s hard to put into words, because it’s only a collection of impressions and opinions over time. Frankly, I don't see you as the most trustworthy or hard-working. More of a come-and-go type. And I may be completely wrong. I don't see behind-the-scenes. But that's what I've mostly gathered over my time observing you. Onto the actual essay stuff. Your definition of asexual makes me tilt my head a little bit, as your essay says that “not asexual” Skrell are still… viewing sex as generally non-sexual, making them just as grey-sexual as the rest, which may just be something a little lost in translation. Your need to define the dating lives of Skrell makes me tilt my head a little more. How Skrell get dates isn’t really something I personally think the lore needs to expand on. I've now, for some reason, become a little concerned about Skrell dating becoming an actual main part of the lore. And for how long are you going to be interested in expanding the lore? We’ve gone through a couple devs recently, for different reasons. It’s been said you aren’t the most active lore deputy in the world. Sometimes you latch onto a thought and hold onto it regardless of what others might say. This can be for some kind of mechanic or for some piece of lore. Sometimes things can sound like a really good idea to us, but when put before others, there are often holes found and disagreements. Part of being a good leader is to hear all the concerns and dissents and reasonings, understand the consequences better with the new information. Say half the populace likes this new thing, half does not. Is it better to act in favor of a new idea or conservatively? I’m still against Skrellekinesis, for one. And rewriting Skrell history can have… really big, really really big effects. Skrell, more than any other race, is in-tune with their history. Long lives and mental connections will do that. If you shift their history, you shift their present. Skrell are a hard thing to understand. I’ve been doing it a while now, and my views and opinions have had to change and shift over the time between Loow and now. I still have my faults on interpretation. I only know that every change can have severe repercussions if we aren’t careful. I’m working through the fallout of a recent one even now. I ask for very very light treading.
  11. Sand is worth 1 point each. Sand and shovels are so very innocent. The only time a miner digs sand is at the very beginning of the shift, because going out to dig with a pick was hell on earth and a lot higher risk if you happen to lag or not notice a hole. This change would make it so early game digging was pointless for how long it would take, but raises up later-game digging. No one does later-game digging. At all. Ever. If there's some guy who has been out on the asteroid for two hours digging holes with diamond drills, please direct them to the rocks. The rocks are where you get points and profit. Not the dirt. At current, digging for a half hour can usually get you enough points to get your gear from the vendor, which is the average for good miners. A half hour of work usually means you get enough to start actually doing your job. This change would make it completely useless to ever use a shovel except if someone asks for glass. Glass would be in the same boat as plastic--never made unless someone requests it (and always given a weird look when someone does), rather than "we always have some extra lying around" as it is now.
  12. This my most recent work. It's my first time drawing an Unathi, in the midst of experimenting with a new program and style. Love the program, not convinced on the style. Draga Guwan
  13. This makes a lot of sense and I agree this is a fantastic way to handle it.
  14. If Tajara get their own representative type, it would only make sense for every other race to have one as well. Skrell, Vaurca, and Unathi are obvious, with Dionae possibly tacked on with Skrell interests if that route is one we want to go on. IPCs have their own factions, but I don't know enough to say which one would be best (my first thought is SIM, though). My mind is also jumping to possible Elyran, Dominian, and Eridani (suit, not dreg) representatives. This is a good chance to open up IAA-type play to a lot more possibilities. I'd say it's fine to give it a trial-run now, but to also keep in mind that representatives will be really Human and Tajara based with an IPC or two. It won't be too far, demographically, from what we already have, except... well, being a Tajara would be easier.
  15. A very overdue change, for sure. Though I do like emergency responders having their own green shade as far as medical is concerned. It helps in picking them out of a crowd (to the point where I think Emergency Physicians should have green labcoats, though they currently spawn with EMT jackets) and distinguishing them from other medical personnel. I will say that the collar looks a bit like a strange hood. Perhaps a pixel too think? I don't really know. The + symbol looks oddly placed on it. There might also be just a tad too much black in the design, too. I think if you give color to the few pixels below the + on the back, and shorten the front bottom trim down one pixel, it might give a bit more color to it. Or it might just look like shit.
