Cargo Technician

Cargo Technician (4/37)

  1. We just got a bunch of great new Unathi dishes...but unlike the unique Tajara dishes where we have to order the ingredients special, the only way to get the ingredients needed for the new Unathi dishes (Worm meat, Roe, etc.) is to get lucky with a world event and hope that someone has the time and resources to literally go out hunting. I feel it should be possible to order the ingredients from cargo so that these new dishes that someone put so much work into don't go to waste!
  2. +1 From me as well! I have worked with her as a CMO myself and she always knows what she is doing. She has a great personality and always does what she can to include others instead of just taking control of everything. She makes me want to step up my own game, and that is a good thing!
  3. BYOND key: Meltharas Character names: Luna Darkowski, Isskssi Issana, Zaeed Al-Hakar, Malika Alfarsi, Siilko Ukeki, Farah Al-Kandari, Fredek Al-Shahrani How long have you been playing on Aurora?: 3 Years Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I want to help contribute to the server and to the enjoyment that others get from interactions with my characters. I hope to help others have the same great interactions as I have had while helping the departments to the best of my ability and experience. Why did you come to Aurora?: I played Space Station 13 for a little while on a no to low RP server before, but it wasn't enjoyable to me. I love the game, and the Aurora was my first experience with how much fun RP can be in this game. It gave me a setting and story to work with and made me invested in adding to it in my own small ways. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I got a strike a year or two ago on the discord because I accidentally posted round information while the round was still ongoing. I have not done so since. No administrative actions were taken on the server though. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is stepping out of your own shoes and into those of someone else. It is literally becoming a character in an ongoing story, causing drama and enjoyment even if you aren't a "main character". Roleplay should be about having fun, making friends, and most importantly creating stories that you can remember fondly and share with others. It should be a safe place where the only drama is the interaction between characters, both protagonist and antagonist, and once the story is over any hard feelings are left at the ending. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: OOCly, I always felt that the Heads of Staff were meant to provide direction to their departments and to all of those people playing within them. They need to be able to help everyone do their job to the best of their ability by assigning tasks and making sure everyone is on the same page. On top of that, they should be willing and happy to teach people how to do their job to the best of their ability, offering help when someone forgets how to do something OOC. The heads of staff also work together to make decisions for the station to follow or disobey as new troubles arise due to the antagonists of the round, making sure that a reasonable response is pursued and as many people are included and have fun with how the story goes. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: The first and most important responsibility is to help create roleplay for others while helping make sure that others do not get in the way of the overall enjoyment. Sometimes that means teaching a newcomer the ropes so that they may get better at their role and have more fun, and sometimes that means kicking a troublemaker out of their department and filing an Incident Report to make sure that the troublemakers do not prevent others from enjoying their tasks and stories. Furthermore, they must act as an example to everyone who plays with them of how act and respond to situations without devolving into an unnecessary grudge match. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? Currently, the Galaxy is facing a crisis in the form of a Phoron Shortage caused by worms devouring the supply. As the supply decreased, the prices have increased and caused heavy tensions between the different Governments and Megacorporations as everyone is trying to maintain their supply and prevent their economy from crashing. As a whistleblower recently unveiled crimes that the Sol Alliance government had committed against it's own people, the situation started to escalate when he was assassinated and Einstein Engines was accused of organizing this. The most recent development was the unveiling of Einstein Engine's new warp drive design, which Nanotrasen sued them for due to claiming that the design was stolen from them. This has affected Luna Darkowksi, my tajara doctor, since it has become harder and harder to send money home to her family and making it harder for her to maintain her standard of living. This has resulted in her taking overtime shifts to make ends meet, made more stressful by the unrest that seems to keep getting worse. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? The primary role I plan to play is Chief Medical Officer. As of late I have noticed an unfortunate lack of individuals filling this role when medical is often one of the more necessary departments on the station. Between organizing assistance for work related injuries to helping the station overcome antagonist-based troubles, an efficient medical department is necessary. The other role I have considered is the Head of Personnel. I have long enjoyed the relative peace of the civilian team and an unfortunate lack of others taking the role despite it being almost necessary to change jobs or make changes to IDs. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: I wish to use my surgeon, Luna Darkowski. She was one of the first characters I ever made, and the first after I earned my tajara whitelist three years ago. She has been in the department for all this time, offering training to residents and having a kind bedside manner. She is certainly one of the most experienced characters I currently play when it comes to her department. I do not have any current plans for another character, nor have I created one for the role as of yet. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I would honestly rate myself an 8/10. While I know I am not perfect, I always do my best to play my characters well while doing the roles assigned to me for each shift. I do my best to interact positively with everyone, include as many people as possible, and react as appropriately as I can to situations as they arise. When I have played an antagonist, I do my best to consider what would be the most enjoyable for the crew instead of trying to think how to "win", even allowing my characters to be captured in order for more interaction to be had other than simply shooting them and eventually dying. I enjoy what I do and the stories I have made for my characters, and strive to continue making more with every interaction. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? I do indeed. This role is a privilege and not something to take lightly after all. If I cannot be trusted to fulfill my role and responsibilities despite given feedback, then I do not deserve the role. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes, I have. I browse through the wiki on a regular basis, doing my best to familiarize myself with changes and keeping up with things my character should know. Command is no different, as there are plenty of details I should know. Extra notes: Thank you in advance for any consideration. No matter the outcome, I will continue to play on this server and have fun with this amazing community!
  4. I have seen this item before back when I used to play /tg/ station. Would it be possible to add something like a bluespace mining satchel so that the miners do not have to lug around the huge crates? https://tgstation13.org/wiki/File:Bluespace_satchel.gif No one knows how the warp bags really work, and we already make bags of holding and even bluespace beakers and trash bags. I just think it would be really nice if mining was able to get the materials to research to get one of these bags to make their job a little easier.
Though I only got to be there for a relatively short time, it was a lot of fun! I really appreciate all of the work that was put into the event so that it was just a fun, drama-free party. I do wish I got to enjoy it for longer, and I look forward to more events like this!
  5. I have played research many times and have constantly come across a problem once I have finished increasing the research levels. This problem has to do with one of the most under-utilized functions that research can play, coming up with interesting new designs. This is especially true when it comes to weapons prototypes and gets aggravating when there are two or three cargo bounties that cannot be filled because it is very difficult to figure out how to make a modular weapon with the required stats. The main issue here is the fact that we cannot tell what parts give what bonuses to what stats, and we cannot tell on our finished project what the stats are either. What I am suggesting is one of two things. First and likely easiest, the wiki can be updated to include a table that shows the different parts and what stats they give to or take away from, allowing people to mix and match based on knowledge they can obtain. If that is not possible, my second suggestion may require a bit of working and coding, but it could make things more interesting. I suggest creating a Modular Weapon Analyzer. Not something anyone can carry around and abuse, but a machine you have to build similar to the anomaly analyzer where researchers can bring their weapons, scan them, and receive information on the stats that they have achieved. This brings the idea of research back into the picture, so those who want to feel like they are actually studying can say "Okay, I have a prototype with these parts. If I scan it, the machine says it has these stats. Therefore these parts must give these stats." This would not only help researchers have more fun trying new combinations, but it also opens up more chances to make use of this aspect of R&D that currently seems to be like eyeballing things blind. I am sure other researcher RPers have taken the time and learned what makes good weapons, but they are not always around and cannot always impart their wisdom. I do not know how difficult it would be to implement either idea, but I wanted to submit it in case it had merit. Thank you for your time in advance,
  6. Reporting Personnel: Isskssi Issana Rank of Reporting Personnel: Chef Game ID: Before round ID bVm-dF8K Personnel Involved: - Muhawir Nawfal - Assisant - Offender - Amaya Stone - Head of Personnel - Witness Time of Incident: Around 10:30 AM station time Real time: About 6:00 PM CST 7/15/18 Location of Incident: Head of Personnel's Office Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property []Neglect of Duty [x]Harassment []Assault [x]Misconduct []Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: I was called to the Head of Personnel's office by Miss Stone to report for an employee evaluation. This evaluation was conducted by Mister Nawfal while Miss Stone observed. Before I even sat down he commented that I was being demoted, though he dismissed the statement as a joke. When I sat down, he immediately asked me what I would do with myself if I was fired. Namely, if I would become a useless leech on the Republic's welfare system or if I would try my hardest to find a male to sate my "meat addiction." I replied that the line of questioning seemed inappropriate, but answered his question that I would seek employment in a restaurant, should such a thing occur. He then proceeded to ask what I would do if Nanotrasen blacklisted me and then had my family killed. It was at this point that Miss Stone intervened, apologized, and dismissed me. As I was leaving, I stated my desire to report this to Internal Affairs, at which point Miss Stone assured me that I was not losing my job, my family was safe, and that she would handle the situation. After I left, Nawfal addressed me over the comms, stating that he was not finished with me and that I was on thin ice. Miss Stone advised that I ignore his commentary. Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: Amaya Stone - Head of Personnel Actions taken: I spoke with Miss Stone at the kitchen where she apologized again for Nawfal's actions, but when asked if anything would be done about his behavior, she commented that she didn't know and that the situation that led to him asking those questions was complicated. This took place just before the departures shuttle was about to arrive, so no further action could be taken at the time. Additional Notes: The experience left me shaken and offended. The comments about seeking a male for my "meat addiction" were both sexist and racist, while the threats against my family had me scared out of my mind. Mister Nawfal was unprofessional, offensive, and sinister; his questions and comments bordering on criminal threats. The fact that no direct action was taken as a result of this is the reason for this Incident Report.
  7. This looks really amazing and unique. I think we could use more unique characters and sprites on the station!
  8. A very good point. Th'akh shamans vary on this point greatly. I had thought on it but didn't want to seem too long winded. The destruction of his true self is what would have landed him into hating what he had become, recalling what some Shaman had said about it. Listening to a shaman who was a bit more lenient is what got him into looking at his limbs as tools that sustain him and allow his soul to continue to contribute to his current life a bit longer. His focus in robotics is using his fascination for the machines to improve life for others, even if he isn't likely to augment someone else in favor of making mechs and soulless machines to serve. I hope that cleared up this issue, I just felt the idea of his body being so injured would be a good story point since it is overcoming a hardship.
  9. BYOND Key: Meltharas Character Names: Luna Darkowski - Tajara Doctor, Zaeed Al-Hakar - Tajara Engineer, Malika Alfarsi - Tajara Security Officer/CSI, Lucero Corogan - Human Roboticist, Jessica Robinson - Human Miner/Cargo tech. Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Red. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Like when I applied for Tajara, I enjoy variety in characters. I may have many characters of similar roles, but I love the different aspects each race can bring to things. When I first played SS13 on /TG stations, I used to love the lizardpeople, as they were called, as they were the only option for alien races at the time. I also enjoy the work put into them and would love to help add to the number of other interesting Unathi I have met. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: First and foremost, they have a hiss that accents their S's and even some X sounds. Second, they are slightly more resistant to heat while gaining a weakness to cold due to being cold blooded. They are also stronger than most humans, able to knock down and claw their enemies. On top of this, they are able to sprint fast for shorter periods of time. Finally, their diet is different. they are the only race able to eat space carp and spiders while not being able to drink alcohol that isn't made from butanol, and they only get nutrients from meat. Mechanics aside, Unathi have a strong code of honor that holds Loyalty, Courage, and Mercy as ideal qualities. Though this mostly applies to soldiers, even the common folk are raised to be honest, loyal, and respectful. They must always be referred to and refer to themselves by their last name unless the one they are speaking to is someone they trust deeply or is a superior. Body language is also very important to express emotion, more than just what words are used. Also, Unathi women are not traditionally able to hold much power and are often discouraged from reading and writing. If an Unathi has become dishonored, they are labelled as "Guwan" and are exiled from their clan. Such individuals are not treated as equals and are seen as criminals. Character Name: Ssirkano Kressk Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Ssirkano Kressk was born 35 years ago, able to remember a time before contact with humans...a contact that changed his world and his life in more ways than he cares to count. Born as one of three siblings of his clutch, he was the second to hatch after his "older" brother and his "younger sister. His family lived on Mogues, in the city of Teht on the shores of the Moghresian sea, where Kressk often found himself helping his family earn a decent living as a fisher. He was content with his youth, happy to let his brother boast on how he would be a mighty warrior when he came of age while his sister learned how to be a good wife and mother. Unfortunately, this wasn't to last. When first contact occured, lines were drawn in the sand between many families. The Kressk family had remained loyal to the Izweski Hegemony, a decision agreed upon by all members of the family. When he was 13, everything changed when the Contact War broke out. Ssirkano and his brother took up training to fight, as they were still 5 years away from adulthood but wanted to be ready to defend their family honorably. By the time they came of age, both he and his brother enlisted to fight in the later stages of the war. Before it ended, a bomb had caught his platoon by surprise and cost Ssirkano both his arms, his eyes, and one of his legs. Though he survived the ordeal, his brother was not so lucky. For his service in the line of duty, Ssirkano was given access to cybernetic replacements so that he could continue to live as normal a life as he could. At first he hated what he had become, hated everything he had lost, but soon that hatred turned to curiosity as he sought to understand the new limbs. That curiosity turned into admiration, and soon after he applied to and joined the Mars University to learn how to create and improve such intricate and wonderful devices. He applied himself hard to his studies, eventually earning his Masters in Robotics and a job with Nanotrasen. He intends to continue growing his knowledge so that he can apply his work to help the warriors of the Sinta, learning his way around mechs and cybernetic augmentations alike. What do you like about this character? I enjoy the turnaround in his life. He started as a fisher, then a soldier, and then continued to aspire to something greater even when he had lost so much of his own body. He still holds true to the ideals of honor and won't run from a fight, but he has honed his mind as much as his body through determination. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I am a seasoned Roleplayer, with over a decade of experience in multiple games, computer and tabletop. Notes:
  10. I would give a +1. I have played with Grown several times and he always seems to know exactly what he is doing and needs to do. He seems to know his job and also plays his race well.
  11. Luna has grave concerns what the Second Revolution will do to her people. One civil war was dangerous for her people, a second one in such short amount of time would be just as devastating if not moreso. That has also driven home her desire to learn medicine, as she wishes to contribute to her world in a way that doesn't cause pain. Still, her family lives in the area controlled by the People's Republic, and she fears what may happen if the Liberation Army wrests control. The entire situation has her terrified, so while she tries to put on a smile and focus on her work, she will be watching news from home intently. She does not hate Nanotrasen, though has concerns for what the selling of resources will do and simply wishes for a swift end to conflicts so that her people may at last know peace.
  12. That is perfectly fine! I am happy to wait as needed. If there is any information you would like from me, I am also on the Discord channel.
  13. BYOND Key: Meltharas Character Names: Lucero Corogan - Roboticist, Jessica Robinson - Shaft Miner/Cargo Tech, Jeff Tombs - Janitor Species you are applying to play: Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Ruddy (Reddish) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I have always enjoyed playing alien races, and have played a less-involved version of Unathi on other servers. I have greatly enjoyed reading up on the lore of the alien races and loved my interactions with other Tajara on the server. The Tajara also remind me heavily of one of my two favorite Elder Scrolls races, the Khajiit. Playing something like that in a sci-fi setting is something I think I would have a lot of fun doing. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: For starters, they speak of themselves in the third person at all times and tend to "purr" their Rs when they speak. They also have claws that deal extra unarmed damage, slightly better dark vision, and have a resistance to cold. On the downside they are slightly more affected by heat and tend to have to roll their suits down now and then. They also can't wear normal gloves, boots, or helmets and must have modified versions if they are to be worn. The four different breeds of Tajara also have their own special fur colors and tend to go into certain fields, like the M'Sai lean towards security or soldier work where the Njarir’Akhran tend to be more educated. Character Name: Luna Darkovski Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Luna was the only child born to an exiled Njarir'Akhran family, forced into the peasantry before the First Revolution saw the elimination of all noble houses. Growing up in the equatorial city of Al'mari, Luna's Grandfather educated her in reading and writing and made sure she received at least a basic education. Before his exile, Luna's grandfather was a respected doctor for the nobility, and the young female wished to follow in his footsteps from an early age, latching on to the stories he would tell. It was hard getting the proper education for such things, but when she was old enough the Humans that had irrevocably inserted themselves into Adhomai's history provided an opportunity for her, one that she was not willing to pass up. When she was old enough, a recruiting officer for Nanotrasen took note of her aptitude and offered a scholarship with the Lunar University of Medical Science. She was thrilled for a chance to not only pursue her passion, but also to be able to do so while seeing other worlds. The cheerful girl studied hard, but made sure to make time to be social and learn how other races got along in the galactic community. Her birth name being too hard for most to pronounce, she took on the name Luna in honor of the moon where she felt her life was truly beginning. Several years later, the 25 year old Tajara had finished her two years nursing residency and looked forward to seeing how she could repay Nanotrasen with her skills, hoping to one day study even more to become a full doctor in time. What do you like about this character? Though I have not gotten a chance to play her yet, I love the concept for her being a cheerful and friendly Nurse. I love playing both support roles and friendly characters, and Luna would give me a chance to play both at the same time. She is still young, learning, and maybe a bit naive, but she has so much room to grow as she is played. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I would rate it rather high, at least an 8.5 or 9 out of 10. I have been roleplaying since mid high school in several mediums, making it about 14 years. I have played tabletop, MMOs, and even forum based roleplaying settings. I love being able to step outside of my own shoes and into those of another. Notes:
  14. Thank you very much! Let me know if I need to make any adjustments and I will happily do so. I have been having a lot of fun on the server.
