  1. Even though I haven't played with her too much, I like Leah cause she seems to be a very believable character. Physical flaws notwithstanding she doesn't just rocket around the station like some techs might. Mentally it's all about seeing the struggles of her life come to a forefront with whatever's been happening in the round, yet whenever I interact with her something inside makes my goal to want to see her genuinely smile. (unless I'm antagging that round, but even then it hurts a little. The only thing I don't like about her is that she's so quiet a lot of the time. You even put a song in your description to show what she sounds like! I wanna 'hear' that voice more.
  2. Dekker! I'm hoping you submitted these for proper curation and aren't keeping them as personal trophies. You know who I am! Besides that though, good documentation. The only thing I'm not seeing is your Spectronomy results. Can't necessarily call it complete without your carbon dating and stratum makeup.
  3. I was thinking this was something that people could use to associate themselves more with the world(s), possibly even get a lore thread dedicated to the [less than handful] Xenoarch players to put up their actual research data instead of letting it get swallowed by the server void. I made it mostly with Xenoarcheology/Anomalist in mind because I see next to absolute nothing for it, and it's actually really fun to play with. And as for NPCs and whatnot, I didn't plan on Jing being 'real' beyond maybe showing up in the news or something, but he could be for some event down the road. IDK.
  4. Type: Association Group Founding/Settlement Date: 12/12/2452 Region of Space: Primarily Sol, Tau Ceti, Jargon. Minor influences in other regions. Controlled by: Considered Independent but works intimately with Nanotrasen Other Snapshot information: Founded on the basis of cultural enrichment through study of archeology, Geology, Botany, etc. PANGAEA focuses efforts on bringing news of the past to the present, focusing on museum curating and funding working members through initiatives with governments and Nanotrasen. Provides members with Peer Reviewed Journals of discoveries, Informational databases, and networking ties with agencies for supplies, transport, employment, etc. Long Description: After the discovery of a (presumed) Vox Auralis tomb in 2451 PANGAEA was founded by members of AESCO, Professors, a few government officials, and scientists of various standing in late 2452. Their mission statement stands to deliver unbiased and unparalleled professional data on the myriad of Archeological artifacts that were being discovered among the systems. Funding for these surveys were provided by museums and government officials dedicated to furthering that goal, at first. In 2454 PANGAEA began working more with Nanotrasen. The additional funding for dig sites and materials came at the price of potentially surrendering any artifact discovered, at Nanotrasen's discretion. Luckily this partnership proved favorable for PANGAEA as many excavated artifacts still made their way across the systems into new exhibits. PANGAEA has, since it's inception, worked closely with many educational districts and at least one member of the group is present in every major scientific college and university as a professor, working consultant, or recruiter (None of these three necessarily exclusively). PANGAEA has even made strides to extend to Junior and Senior schools, placing emphasis on cultivating younger minds with an interest in history and the unknown. In 2455 PANGAEA expanded their operations beyond Archeology, though they never changed their name. Expansion included fields of Botany and Biology, mostly within cataloguing, identification, and preservation of plant and animal species as they are discovered. PANGAEA's leadership falls into one head representative, named "Head Curate" which acts as a figurehead for the association, and a cabal of officials. One person from each system is elected by their system's members to discuss matters with the Head Curate. Elections are held once per standard decade or when an official or Head Curate become incapable of attending duties (I.E: Illness, slander, or death). Membership into PANGAEA comes mostly from members vetting in new members, who undergo a trial basis with the association before being officially accredited as a member. Membership does come with a yearly monetary donation incentive to offset costs of running the organization. Current Head Curate: Jing Vanderbilt (58), Human from Biesel. Successor of Ahuri Sey'bul after being killed in decompression explosion onboard transport vessel to Biesel. Investigations still ongoing. Notable Members: (To be filled out with whoever can seem relevant. Notable Biologists, archeologists, Directors, Professors, etc.)
  5. I felt a wash of relief reading this, thank you Alex. I've not been on Aurora long, but in my limited time I have played Antag roles I knew absolutely nothing about. I don't play Antag very often because to my previous knowledge of it on other servers. It means Either move fast and get the job done before anyone knows what happened, or be more Robust than everyone else combined. But I wanted to broaden my horizons and try things out. My first time ever antagging was as a Merc. I read about this briefly on the wiki when I saw what I was and the first thing I noticed that was different (to other stations) was I had no target, I was just told I was a merc. Then the rest of my team started talking about targets, and we eventually settled on one. Long story short we fucked up. But the entire time we were setting up I felt involved in it, we chose the target, we chose how to approach, and we chose how to go down. Two of us got captured and the other two tried to start negotiating for a release. I made up a huge story on the fly and for a while I thought we could actually get away with this. Save face in the eyes of our 'employer' and whatnot. Didn't work out that well. And I should have seen it coming, but no sooner than the hostage transfer was over we got robusted but good. I felt cheated that it all devolved into that in the end, but the shuttle had already been called and it was end game so I didn't let it stick to me. If nothing else it just validated my own reservations of playing high action roles. The point I want to make on all this is that as a first time Antag in a mode I knew nothing about it was fun being paired up with people that seemed like vets in the field, and the fluid freedom of how to play as Antag really sets this apart from other versions I've seen, Like Alex's blurb I put above. Should antags be Robust on Sight? I don't think anyone in the thread or the game is going to make that call until maybe after an hour in, or if the antag themselves get turnt right out the gate. It's fun seeing the reactions from everyone, including the antag themselves as they try to play the system. Sorry if this doesn't really progress the topic at hand, but I thought a pair of fresh eyes to the station could help clarify just how differently things are on here, and how (in my opinion) it's better that way.
  6. On Discord I'm MeroMeroChan On Byond I'm what's listed. On Aurora itself I've been making characters trying to get a feel of who I like playing best at the moment... So I understand the blank stares.
  7. Ckey/BYOND Username: Shinigami_Meroko Position Being Applied For (Species Maintainer, Wiki Maintainer, Lore Developer, Deputy Lore developer): Deputy Lore Developer Past Experiences/Knowledge: I'm a huge worldbuilding nerd for tabletop games like D&D and Shadowrun. I like making things fantastic but believable. I take pride in the evolution of worlds, countries, nations and how their interactions with each other and outside sources would dictate their development into what they are today. I like to dabble in everything from major wars, treaties, and discoveries to little things like minor incidents or local heroes, to the divine of the rise and fall of religions, political factions, and interest groups. In SS13 itself, I've been here and there since the beginning, before the goonstations, before it all. I'm no expert on how things in it work completely, but with so many iterations it's fun to see each one and the nuances between them. Examples of Past Work: (The following is a CYOA excerpt from a questionnaire I have asked my Shadowrun players to answer to help develop their personal characters. The choice is polarized to a 1 or 2 answer, but the question itself is more about the gray area of either side of an answer and knowing that, as a runner, things may not go the way you think after you make, what you believe to be, a "right" choice.) A city in the fringes of the Sioux territory has been at odds with Renraku for months. The city itself is irradiated and its members more or less ghouls of themselves that cling to their exposed lifestyle while adopting the local shamanistic rituals of the Sioux in their own ways. Renraku wants to annex the city and siphon the irradiation for an experiment in ground-cleansing in cooperation with Shiawase. However, your role in this will decide the city's future... Helping the locals of the city will keep Renraku's corporate reach from extending further into Sioux territory, but will also leave the ghoulish people to their fate of a slow degredation into primordial sludge. Helping Renraku take the city will ensure the survival of the people within with their vastly superior medical and magical advances to mend their damaged bodies, but will also subjugate them to the whim of the Megacorp, and extend Renraku's already massive reach further into Sioux territory, potentially setting ties with the two at even further strain. ---------------------- Also I helped on the design of the Zeng-Hu logo, just a little, but I feel accomplished for my input. Additional Comments: I've watched SS13 grow from the original map with only traitor or meteor modes into this multiverse of different directions. I've been an avid heavy roleplayer and the universe within Aurora has not only been accepting of me as a newcomer but also fun to engage in with everyone else. Being a part of creating a deeper lore for the universe would be fun as hell, even if I'm only shouting stupid ideas at 3 a.m. into the bluespace.
