It's more the Vaurca physiology that seems confusing but I'm sure I could figure it out. I went with C'thur as they seemed the most interesting for me as the other two seemed older and more established and I enjoyed the feel of this one alot more. I would choose Queen Ta'Akaix'Tyr’kaal’yskt C'thur as she seems most interesting for future character development.

One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Interesting species to play and a challenging one, could provide a new change for me from Human, ICP or Dionaea. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Limited emotional range for bound, completely different biology, personalities, vocalisation etc. Character Name: Ka'Viax'Floth'C'thur. Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Ka'Viax'Floth'C'thur was born into the C'thur hive, determined to become a bound Vaurca before even starting it's life. It had the expected augmentations and largely began it's work in the hive under it's expected role as a worker. Ka'Viax'Floth'C'thur was selected by a group of Unbound Vaurca amongst other Bounds to assist them on a joint mission to a NanoTrasen station and was prepared for transportation. Ka'Viax'Floth'C'thur was put to work largely in an assisting capacity in the local science department, where as expected it proved itself competent in learning only after a few months. As it reached the year mark on the joint mission, Ka'Viax'Floth'C'thur was the sole selected bound Vaurca to be rented to the NanoTrasen company by it's Master, and was transported through various stations to assist in those where needed, before eventually ending up on the Aurora. What do you like about this character? New type of character for me. Will be a good experience playing a Bound Vaurca with entirely different motives and functionality to my other characters. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Reasonable, I guess? Notes: Admittedly the backstory is quite weak but I've been here for three years now and hopefully that works in my favour. I've read the wiki on Vaurca numerous times and although I don't entirely understand them (who does), I believe now my only way of improving my understanding of them would be through playing one, so hopefully I'll get that chance. Overview of the Incident: Ka'Akaix'Theth K'lax contracted an unknown disease that affected him with an addiction to consume poisonous flora whilst working in the Xenobotany Lab. Theth proceeded to the Medical Bay to seek assistance and under influence from the disease continued expressing a desire to consume more of the flora despite the lethal effects it was having on him. Subsequently, Samantha Black refused to treat Theth and sent him away from the Medical Bay in full knowledge that he would return to the Xenobotany Lab to consume more of the poisonous flora which could lead to his death, she racially abused him by referring to him as a 'bug' and demanded that security detain him. I found Theth in the Xenobotany Lab consuming the poisonous flora and managed to restrain him, I took him to the Medical Bay to attempt to gain him medical aid and Black continually spoke over the top of me before I could explain the situation, demanding that I leave and refusing to treat Theth again despite his condition, which he even expressed himself that he had no control over due to the disease. I attempted to again request medical aid for Theth and Samantha Black continually antagonised myself and Theth, prompting me to insult her and accuse her of incompetence after she threatened to blind Theth with a flasher for no due reason, despite knowing full well the dangerous affects that a flash can have on Vaurca. I left the Medical Bay with Theth to hear Samantha Black demanding that Security arrest myself and Theth and generally overreacting. We were not detained or arrested and Theth fortunately went into a state of SSD so i took him to Cryogenic Storage. Samantha Black neglected her duty, lied to security, racially assaulted Ka'Akaix'Theth K'lax and betrayed her duty as a Doctor to give him medical aid, and antagonised crew members; myself and Theth without due cause, which was the reasoning behind my insults aimed at her. I stand by my course of actions as I would not have insulted her had she not been rude, interrupting, offensive and unprofessional towards me, and if she had been performing her job adequately and provided the medical aid needed, the situation would not have occurred. No explanation was offered as to why treatment was being refused. Actions taken: Filed incident report. Additional notes: -

One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I've always enjoyed roleplaying synthetic characters in many games/text-based roleplays, as it provides an alternate option to usual RP and allows one to play a character with endless development options as both a character and for their personality, considering they can range anywhere from no emotions, discovering emotions, to essentially a metal human. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Everything. IPC's are entirely synthetic and can't feel pain, some can't feel emotions, some can, some have organic brains, some don't, they can essentially be anything. Character Name: Peaches. Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Peaches was formed from a complex combination of coding and data deep within the darkweb of the extranet amongst a network of erotic and pornographic materials and websites. With no creator or owner, the emerging intelligence remained hidden and gathered code and information, gradually becoming aware of itself enough to formulate a virus within the network it lived in, forming pop-ups and other such things to hack money and information from people who were foolish enough to be deceived by the tricks. It remained hidden in the system for a long time, essentially existing just to obtain money, the name and identity Peaches was adopted for a false website belonging to a supposed human escort for hire, a character played by the emerging Artificial Intelligence, although eventually the website vanished off the face of the extranet when users realised it contained viruses and hacks, many elite computists began rifting through the extranet to locate and destroy the virus, still unaware that it was anything more than a virtual pest. The AI sought to escape the virtual world to flee from those essentially trying to kill her, fortunately by this time, Peaches had gathered enough funds to purchase a custom-created chassis and have it delivered to a location where she could download and insert her intelligence into the body and escape from the extranet into the real world, which she did so and swiftly learned that her kind of intelligence were considered taboo, so began posing as a designed intelligence instead. Having never had a true personality of her own, some aspects of her falsified escort personality carried over into her true self and became part of her nature, so on occasion she can be flamboyant and has an interest in how organics think and feel. After entering the physical world in a chassis, Peaches remained in the darker, less-monitored reaches of the galaxy for some time, taking up work as a cheap hired criminal, thief, bounty hunter and assassin due to the skill she already possessed in hacking and deceiving others, this made her a prime choice for entering hard to reach places to kill certain people. She spent some time as a murderer-for-hire until she further evolved as a sentient and the killings and crimes she was committing began playing on her growing sense of conscience. What if the people she was killing were innocent? What if they had children? What if they had worked hard for their riches? She found herself losing heart in the work and sought to escape to more honest ventures after several years of living in the dark, she fled to the more law-orientated regions of space whilst mid-contract, to hide from her enemies and contractors. In the hopes of remaining hidden in plain sight, and to become a more honest being, she took up work with NanoTrasen as a means of survival as well as in the hopes of gathering more data and learning more, furthering her self-awareness, sentience, personality, and ability to feel emotions. Despite all of these changes, due to having put on false personalities for so long and never developing her own true self, Peaches has trouble extending her trust to others or portraying herself as she truly is, being considerably emotionally unstable and failing to understand or find who and what she truly is. Peaches portrays herself as female as force of habit as well as her chassis being feminine, although she largely personally identifies as genderless at present time as it is a concept she does not understand. She also struggles with manners of speech and patterns and switches between tenses and third, second and first person when self-referencing. She is not a believer in complete synthetic freedom and acknowledges and understands that she, and other AI's are learning computers and are thus potentially unstable and could learn things like hostility and hatred for organics. She believes they should be monitored and controlled to some extent. Despite these beliefs, even though it is contradictive and hypocritical, she has failed to associate herself with other IPC's and AI's and has not yet considered the effects that control and monitoring of AI's would have on herself. What do you like about this character? The character is essentially a blank book and has all sorts of character development available which is very exciting, this allows me to mould the character through roleplay with other player-characters rather than through backstory, character development is the most important aspect of roleplay for me and this gives me alot of what I love. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: For me it is the most interesting race available to me at this time and I'll enjoy the challenge of roleplaying a Dionaea correctly, it would be an interesting and enjoyable experience and it is probably my favourite SS13 race simply due to what they are and how they work, especially their personalities and mentality. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Dionaea are obviously notably different to all other species on account of their biology and general mechanics and culture. Their organs are different, their history is different, their personalities and self-awareness are entirely different and they generally tolerate different things to humans and can't tolerate some things that humans can. Character Name: She Walks In The Rain. "Rain". Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Rain was "born" on a Nanotrasen vessel as part of a scientific experiment, grown as a nymph within a lab to be experimented and tested on until she became a gestalt. She joined the company as an employee once she became an adult and became more intelligent the older she became as she assimilated information from other crewmembers through blood samples, primarily Humans and Skrell. Although technically asexual, she chose to identify as female as her "carer" was a female human. Despite being conventionally raised by humans, she is really no different to other Dionaea apart from generally switching between referring to herself as 'I' and 'We'. Due to only really needing a flashlight to survive in the vacuum of space, she was often used for engineering works on the external areas of the shuttles she worked and lived on. On one occasion, and the only occasion thus far in her life, she visited planet Earth at a young age and walked the surface in the rain, which is her fondest memory and thus what she uses to refer to as her name, with most of her colleagues simplifying it to call her Rain. What do you like about this character? The species in general, apart from that, the character is extremely interesting to play and has huge potential for character development which is my prime reason for wanting to play her, as I massively enjoy passive roleplay and character development and believe this will give me the option to have more of that.
