1. BYOND key: KesterShadowHair Character names: Karam Viswan, Todd Mayfly, Stephen Yates, Z.I. Panther, ISU-Zellis, Holn How long have you been playing on Aurora?: May 26th 2020 Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Yes/ 3-day temp security ban I forget when./Antag banned feb 2021 which I applied for an appeal. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: I've found that heads of staff assist the narrative of any round it helps when issues arise no one is hacking into anything to do a roundabout fashion to fulfill their role. Coordinating is important to a degree ensuring tasks have been completed and maintaining a standard. Having a understanding of corporate regulations and what Nanotransen expects out of a head of staff. Knowing when to fax central over station issues or standard communication. Ultimately calling ERT/Shuttle if the need arises and continuing to monitor the round. Encouraging a positive environment for all players around you. Having an understanding of the culture with your crewmates paying attention to their flaws and quirks. Ensuring your department actually does their job. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: I've always viewed this as assistance. The individual has a good understanding of the department they play in mechanically and its terminology. Ensuring that the learner roles make people feel welcomed . I also believe they should have the capacity to assist any new player or even an veteran if the event arises that requires specific training/knowledge. Personally I would leave it known to all individuals they are more than welcome to message me about anything. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau Ceti and how it affected your character and their career? The Orion Spur phoron supplies are running out. SCC being formed. The secondary Solarian invasion has split up the alliance into different sectors with their own claim to space. Jargon Federation Embassy bombed from terrorist attacks with the embassy being levelled from the result. Tau Ceti allows Skrell asylum seekers to obtain full citizenship through the TCFL. Holn a NT owned baseline serves through the SCC chain as Scientist/Messenger. Using research aboard the facility to find the next best thing to present to the SCC itself. Karam on the other hand has built a rapport with the recent engineers. Having partaken in the ongoing effort to reconstruct Gadpathur they are also utilized as a rapid construction engineer with massive amount of experience. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted?CE/RD mainly. I would build myself up to another position potentially but not right away would most likely ahelp or speak to people about it. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes/re-read. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.:Karam Viswan CE. Holn RD Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Of course. Extra notes: I've been interacting with the community a lot more versus when I played before with a small clique. Its nice to be back and I'd appreciate a second chance if people vote me in. Appreciate you all <3.
2. BYOND key: Lordnesh Character names: How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Around half a year or so. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I think I'm ready for the responsibility. Why did you come to Aurora?: Aurora had the right mix of excitement and roleplay that I was looking for. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they?: Two tempory antag bans and a couple notes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is a form of entertainment wherein you pretend to be something you are not. You can pretend to be something as mundane as a regular human, working a regular job, just trying to exist in the setting. However, you can also be something as unique as an alien species. The only limits are those you impose on yourself, and the limits imposed by the setting. With roleplay you can express yourself in ways that are not possible with other forms of entertainment. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, in-game?: I think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is two-fold. First, they serve as leaders and examples. Specifically, on the sort of behavior that is and isn't acceptable on the server. Secondly, they are there as educators. A Head of Staff should be knowledgeable about their department, which makes them excellent sources of information. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: In addition to the responsibilities listed in the previous paragraph, whitelisted players have one other thing they must take into consideration. Command has access to powerful tools that can change the direction the round takes, so it is up to them to use them wisely. Just because you can shut down an antag thirty minutes into the round, doesn't mean you should. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? Between the Phoron shortage, the SCC forming, and a literal hostile invasion things have been a bit hectic in Tau Ceti. Sam had a real nice gig, on Biesel itself, before coming to Aurora. While it didn't pay as well, it didn't come with the added risk of being boarded by Solarian soldiers. Unfortunately, being a company owned IPC means she doesn't really have much choice in the matter. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? CE, CMO, Liaison Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Samantha Higgins - CE How would you rate your own roleplaying?: decent Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes Extra notes:
3. BYOND Key: Desven Character names: Pierre Godard, surgeon; Luciano Morricone (might delete this little bastard) How long have you been playing on Aurora?: late Jan Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Mainly, to be CMO and Consul. For a longer answer, I just love medbay. I cannot seem to leave the department. And I have met great people while playing that have greatly helped me and I wish not only to help the newcomers, but expand on the experience I have acquired all this time. Why did you come to Aurora?: A mix of seeking brainmed mechanics and roleplay. My roleplaying in SS13 had been limited before, and I have enjoyed the few times I did it, a lot. My friends would tell me about their characters (in other servers), how they wrote stories for them and all, and I got really excited for the idea. I didn't think I had it in me, Then, after a round of just snooping around, I went ahead, read the lore, and took the challenge. I have enjoyed it ever since. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yep! Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they?: I have been bwoinked, especially when I was new, but otherwise I believe I am a clean bean with no warnings. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplaying is lending yourself to give life to others. I do creative writing and I am very much under the belief that the characters are alive. Before I began roleplaying myself, I would see my friends and their characters and I would often think they were merely extensions of themselves. However, after all of this experience, mainly on Aurora, I now believe that they can become their own, react on their own ways, and even have some extend of 'free will', as I believe characters on paper do. Often Pierre reacts on ways I would not expect him to, at first; I believe all of us have been surprised by how our characters develop, and take on their own. Around September I gave a course on creative writing focusing on this aspect, and I have found that my theses can apply to roleplaying in spessman too. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Give direction to a department (allow for the others to partake, not get in the way and do everything on your own), make sure things are running smoothly, clean and with a purpose. In medical, especially, it is required to be able to coordinate the EMTs, make sure the fridge is stocked, physicians are attending the wounded and surgeons are performing surgery. Regarding other heads, make sure to keep a strong liason with the department and command, construct a narrative with the antagonists, and involve your department if possible (regarding medical, it is always). In summary, make sure everyone has a fun, memorable round. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: I believe you have to be an exemplary roleplayer. Not that you cannot make mistakes, but rather, you have to gain respect from others, and guide them (if they are new to the roles). Also, there is the narrative that is built in each round, and as a head of staff, you have the responsibility of the flow of the game, and how you are going to impact others, not only those under your department. In medical, depending how a CMO acts, it can often end up in all of security dying or keeping them patched up for a little more playtime. It is one of the departments that impacts on whether a player stays in round or not, and you have to act fast. I am aware that, as CMO, I cannot act as I have acted while being a surgeon, and while I do plan to play as surgeon when possible, I do expect to improve on my actions. Medical, when crowded, can often make mistakes of bumping with each other. In other servers where I play as CMO, like Bay (which has a more limited medbay staff roster), I try to coordinate so that everyone gets to have fun when playing. It probably sounds bad, but medmains get their playtime (besides the roleplaying and such) from treating patients. Ensuring everyone gets to treat one can be tricky when, more often than not, there are rounds with only one or two visits to the doctor, but promoting things like physical exams, or just making the medical team engage more with the others in extended or green alert, might be a good idea to keep everybody busy. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career?: I arrived to the server after the events of KOTW, and, in a way, Pierre did too. He comes from Dominia, and has been adapting to what is happening. However, he can feel the change, from the logos on the walls to how the departments seem ever so much more diverse, with different contractors. He is not exactly loyal to Nanotrasen, but he is supportive, and in Medical in particular, the introduction of more Zeng-Hu staff is somewhat unsettling, as Pierre holds some disdain for the company that manufactured his prosthetic. Nevertheless, he is willing to learn to live in the 'Biesel way', more tolerant of others, especially the huge amount of shells that share his profession. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted?: CMO, but I might make a Consul in the future (still undecided and unplanned, so huge TBA) Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Pierre Godard, Chief Medical Officer. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I've stated before that I would at least give myself a 'You've tried' ribbon, however, I think I'll say here that I am fairly good- my character has had a good reception and I do get in the role, so to speak. So yes, I think I'm doing this okay. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action?: Yes, and I like it that way. I think it helps clean up some bad apples or just people that have stopped playing. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles?: Yes. Extra notes: I know I have a (pending) Bug app, but Readthisnameplz encouraged me to submit this one, as they are not alike. I do not think I'll apply for any other race soon, though, as I intent to keep growing my character. And for those awesome CMOs that I have played with- sorry! I am not trying to steal your job or anything, but lately Medbay has found itself without command and I would like to step in without having to become interim or something.
4. BYOND key: DankLordSupreme Character names: Shivara Li: Security Officer Pearl Zhou: Scientist CYRUS: Station Engineer Jennie Burkov: Xenobiologist/Scientist Lexia Dahlman: Drill Technician Jade Keplar: Medical Intern Zephyr: Pharmacist How long have you been playing on Aurora?: It has been close to a month now since I started playing again. Previously I’ve had a few months of experience on Aurora as well (I do not recall how long ago it was though). Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I wish to be on the whitelist because I see great opportunities for roleplaying and development, especially with the current developments in Tau Ceti (such as the formation of the SCC and the Phoron scarcity crisis). I also now feel comfortable with the station procedures, functions, and lore again after becoming reacquainted with the server. Why did you come to Aurora?: I came to Aurora in the interest of playing on a HRP server. In the 10 years I’ve played SS13, I’ve gotten my fill of LRP and MRP servers (such as Goon and CM-SS13), but I’ve learned I still prefer High Roleplay due to my experience in other serious roleplay communities outside of SS13. Aurora offers a great setting, constantly developing lore, and plenty of roleplay opportunities which is what brought me back and is keeping me deeply interested. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: I have read the wiki regarding the roles, as well as Regulations, Station Procedure, and applicable guides. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I have not received any administrative actions. My only experience with server administration is clarifications during roleplay scenarios. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is being able to immerse yourself into a setting and developing a character that makes sense in that setting. Roleplay is taking time to build a story and learning the lore applicable to the character. Roleplaying should be about taking that character and showing who they are through their interactions with other characters, their reactions to the changes in their environment, and how they change within these situations. With Tau Ceti being a melting pot of peoples from all different cultures and backgrounds, and the Aurora being just the same, there’s always plenty of opportunity to roleplay with others, instead of just focusing on the gameplay mechanics. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: I believe the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is to be a guiding hand in both driving roleplay and department/station functionality. Being in a position of leadership for the station, the Heads of Staff are intended to ensure that staff are able to conduct their jobs and be able to guide them if they are struggling with a facet of their job. Being a guiding hand with the functions of the job also allows for roleplay scenarios where the Heads of Staff are able to do things like trainings and seminars with their staff to help them learn and improve in both mechanics and roleplay. Another big purpose is to be able to endure the hardships the station may endure and work together with the other Heads to make sure that things do not get so out of hand that players lose time in the round due to delayed responses to a situation, but are also level headed when dealing with antagonist characters so not to just put everything against them the minute there’s an inkling of something amiss. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: One of the biggest responsibilities is being able to recognize when someone needs help with their role. It is key to be able to understand though when someone is simply having an issue with one mechanic or appears almost brand new to the role they’re playing. You can have an interaction with the character to show them what they need to do to overcome their issue, or if they are fresh to the role, being able to conduct a training with them. Being able to recognize people new to the role (or the server even) allows for you to guide the player themself (OOC) to the resources Aurora has available on the Wiki, Forums, and Discord. Another responsibility is similar to that of the first which is making sure that your department doesn’t get out of hand with inexperienced people in roles wherein they may be doing things that may escalate too quickly. With wanting to be a Research Director, I understand that the department I would oversee has a large potential to deeply impact a round and roleplay of players. A novice Xenobotanist attempting to grow k’ois and causing a release of deadly spores, or a newer Phoron Researcher accidentally releasing phoron and causing a fire can put undue stress on other departments who have to come assist. While these situations can cause some new roleplay scenarios, it also has a high potential to cause major disruptions to a lot of other ongoing roleplay and potentially take someone out of a round too early because of a mistake. One more responsibility would be being stewards to the lore of Aurora. Especially now, with the NSS Aurora starting to undergo a change from NT-centerism to the SCC, the Heads of Staff will be impacted by the changes to how their departments are staffed and how communications are handled out of the station. They may face questions from their staff about the changes that have been reported so far (such as the article in the Orion Spur Oracle). Another example of lore roleplay you can involve is the current situation of the Phoron scarcity crisis and ensuring that, as part of a Phoron Research and Mining station, your department is not misusing or misappropriating Phoron. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau Ceti and how it affected your character and their career? Tau Ceti is currently recovering from the Second Solarian invasion. The Big Five megacorporations have banded together in a partnership called the Stellar Corporate Conglomerate, with NanoTrasen leading the SCC. NanoTrasen has begun the transfer of oversight of their stations in the outer cloud to the SCC. The region and the Orion Spur as a whole are feeling the effects of the phoron scarcity as NanoTrasen is attempting to keep up with phoron demands with a dwindling supply. Dr. Jennie Burkov, a long time researcher with NanoTrasen (primarily in Xenobiology), has felt the effects of the scarcity with the availability of phoron available for research with xenobiology and in the research department as a whole. The scarcity has caused phoron research to slow as supplies are limited while NanoTrasen is also trying to maintain supply to their customers as well. She is unsure of what effects the change of oversight of the stations will bring, but she is committed to her work, trying to reach the Director position after 15 years with NanoTrasen. Venture, a Shell Model IPC Corporate Liaison for NanoTrasen, has had their directives adjusted very recently. A cunning and methodical representative, their work has changed from just ensuring NanoTrasen stations are meeting their phoron quotas for their customers, and that research and development is at the forefront of operations to continue NanoTrasen’s status as a leader in phoron. Now with the oversight of the stations going to the SCC, Venture has been dispatched to ensure that NanoTrasen’s corporate interests are maintained and that there is unity between the other Megacorporations' and NanoTrasen's aboard the stations. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Research Director Corporate Liaison Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Dr. Jennie Burkov for Research Director (Existing Character) Venture for Corporate Liaison (New Character) How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I would rate my roleplaying at 8/10. Outside of SS13, I have extensive roleplay experience through tabletop gaming and other roleplay communities. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? I understand this, and that either Server Administration may strip my whitelist or my character may lose their position due to reporting to the CCIA. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? I have familiarized myself with the wiki pages for the roles and the guides for those roles, as well as Station Procedure and Regulations. Extra notes: No extra notes at this time.
5. BYOND key: Ramke Character names: - Freya Sandstrom - Valetzrhonaja Nayrragh'Rakhan How long have you been playing on Aurora?: About 3 months Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: From experience, I found that being a(n Interim) Chief Engineer was a very fun experience. Ever since I've started, I've played Engineering exclusively, and I feel like it would be natural progression to step into a Command role for the department I really enjoy playing. Why did you come to Aurora?: A friend recommended this game/community to me, tried it before but I couldn't wrap my head around SS13's graphics and controls. Tried again a year later with a friend to hold my hand this time, and that was a lot more successful. I ended up loving it in the end, so I stuck around. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing? Yes Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Never received any administrative action to my awareness. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay, in essence, is playing a different character in a different universe. Believable, but unique stories make for a really fun gameplay experience and environment where your own characters can grow and develop, allowing for character progression and leading to more interesting interactions with other players. If executed well, roleplaying with a good community is a very fun way to spend your time, and the time is invested into developing your own characters remains persistent, making them more valuable to both the player and the server over time. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Department-wise, they are the characters people go to for direction - whether it is to learn about playing in the department or to find direction on what to do, whether they are bored out of their mind or not sure what choice to take in any given situation. They are also meant to aid significantly in organisation as the authority of the department, responsible for ensuring that it functions well, and guiding people to resolve it if it isn't. Station-wise, they are the ones that direct the flow of the round, and act as the "official representatives" of the station to antagonists or non-crew characters. They are the ones making the decisions that make or break a situation, giving direction to the chaos that tends to happen on the station. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: I believe Command whitelist players have a responsibility to ensure sensible round progression, not going overboard and trying to make sure that everyone (including antagonists) have fun. They are also responsible for making sure anyone who is new to the department has all the resources and support needed to learn the role, mentoring them when possible. This is especially relevant with Engineering, as a lot of things are taught by word of mouth rather than wiki materials (i.e. atmospherics). I feel like anything outside of that is more related to IC obligations, but those are the two I would personally expect a head of staff to be responsible for. While I do this normally, I would take great care to think how my actions would affect the flow of the round, and try to pick the options that are both sensible and ensure players get involved in a fun way. Mentor-wise, I already teach new apprentices the department and how it works, and that would continue if I were to get accepted. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? The Solarian invasion arc is what allowed me to introduce my character (Valetzrhonaja) into the universe, going from working planetside to becoming a station engineer during the lockdown as emergency staff. Now that it is over, Valetzrhonaja is continuing her goal of working towards her education, in addition to earning a managerial (CE) role where she works while she is contractually stuck working for NanoTrasen. The latest news from Adhomai about DPRA now deciding to become North Korea is causing her a lot of worries, and is not happy with the implications of what might happen to her home planet. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Exclusively Chief Engineer - not interested in any other roles, at least for the foreseeable future. I'd maybe look into expanding to an NKA consular or something of the sort in the very long run, but that won't be anytime soon. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking: Valetzrhonaja Nayrragh'Rakhan - Chief Engineer How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I am confident that I can roleplay well, but I am not perfect with it either - emoting in particular still needs a lot of work in terms of in-game roleplay, which I'm trying to improve. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes Extra notes: I'm still relatively new to SS13 (Aurora is my first server), so I will likely spaghetti a lot as I'm still not a vet by any stretch of imagination. I'm also the opposite of robust when it comes to PvP, since I have zero experience in it other than left clicking maintenance drones - not many decide to touch engineers as everyone wants air in the end. If that affects the application, that's fine - mechanical knowledge outside of the Engineering department (i.e. combat) is my main personal concern. I've been trying to take a lot of interim shifts to learn the flow of Command (thanks HOPs) and try to get used to new situations to avoid being too out of depth. I feel like that has gone well enough, but I'm sure other players can provide more unbiased feedback.
6. BYOND key: Dantzy Character names: In order of most recent activity; Tavarr Batovv - The Ultranationalist William Volvalaad - The delightful foreigner. Nietzsche - The dreamer of electronic sheep. Samsara - The walking statement. Terra Zhou - The wild-eyed optimist. Eleanora Rose - The cursed traditionalist. Valery Weiss - The enigma. How long have you been playing on Aurora?: I've spent roughly three months playing Aurora, the 1st month was very much on and off while the second and third one (aka this month) is when I started playing definitely though generally during dead hours due to an awful sleep schedule I just fixed, thankfully. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: One of the main reasons why I desire to be on the whitelist is because I feel like I can further extend my character, Tavarr who is now working up the ranks of NanoTrasen in the hopes of, again, pulling up the birches of many Tajara by showing that not all are brutes and not all are xenophobic and awful, despite his inner views on the world which haven't been RPed out for the sake of comfort. Why did you come to Aurora?: To quote Tavarr's backstory, Quote Despite the armistice being signed, despite the wars more or less ending and a cold war now beginning, he felt hollow. Tavarr was a middle aged Tajaran with not much to his name. They were renowned by colleagues who were fascinated with the death cultists in the north. He could've written a book, further downplaying any activity he had there but, after dwelling on it. Perhaps, it would be best to have the past be put into the ground and forgotten and so, he continued to build up his record as humanitarian aid worker in tandem with brilliant minds comparable to the ones found in the clutches of the Peoples Republic and so, with that, he sought a proper escape from his world. "Tavarr will return," -- this is what he said to himself every so often once he had dreamed of leaving Adhomai but Adhomai wasn't just a home, it was a home to his horrors and so on, after making his way to Crevus, effectively leaving his home away after displaying his record as a scientist with credentials and, after convincing his colleagues, references for employment with a company. NanoTrasen Furthermore, as stated, the main reason why he came aboard the Aurora is because he wants to show people that his people - the Tajara, are hard workers, they are not to be exploited for that very RD that writes a commendation for you, is a person too. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: I have gone through the wiki and ensured I know all of the Science roles that I don't know in depth so that I have a basic knowledge, e.g Phoron Researcher and Telescience, other than that, I main robotics and scientist, I had a xenobotanist and I have a xenoarch as well. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay - the act of playing a role and enacting out said role. Simple, I know, though on Aurora, it's a bit different. You are here to be a part of a play, you aren't here to win or do anything similar, your here to tell a story. I myself have mapped out character arcs for all of my characters as well as their final scene/death. I believe character death should honestly, be a bit more common. I'd rather kill a character off then let them fester for months on end and go inactive with them. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: The OOC purpose of a head of staff is clear, you are a role model for others. As a head of staff, your goal is to ensure everyone in your department is doing what they are SUPPOSED to be doing. If you see a roboticist just building mechas, that's an IR (and bwoink too probably), you need to ensure quality and general stability aboard the Aurora really. Your a model, act it. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: As mentioned above, your a role model to other players. I myself, do my best to help out newish players when I see a name I don't recognize. I've also felt a responsibility as a head of staff is to ensure someone has an in depth voice regarding departmental changes. I'm very critical and heavy on myself so I strive to do not just the best thing but the best thing efficently. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? As of now, Tau Ceti is reeling from a Solarian invasion. Cliques are more than likely forming along parts of Sol Space, it is grim and one can't tell what the future brings. My character, admittedly, hasn't been effected by it as they've been on Adhomai for a good portion of their life though one thing that has effected them is the fact that, there is chaos and glory to be made here, if he were to be hailed as a hero, only goodness would come from it. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Research Director, PRA Counselor Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking: Tavarr Batov - Scientist & RD How would you rate your own roleplaying?: Generally an 8/10 Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yup. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Of course. Extra notes: Nothing of note really. I did get this from my laptop so I might've missed something in the text file transfer

Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Two bans that I can remember, and only one warning visible to me through the in-game tracker. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. b]Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay, to me, is the immersion of yourself into a role, universe, and character with a role in that universe. The ability to put yourself in someone else's shoes and see things from a skewed, imperfect perspective of the world. To feign ignorance because your character wouldn't know something, or to inform someone of something they wouldn't know. While it is important to have a healthy separation of character and self, it's imperative for you to be able to relate to your character because otherwise you'll not be able to go through with actions that you personally wouldn't do but your character will. Roleplay should be about telling a story, with you as one of the many pawns on the board to be used in crafting the greater narrative. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: I think, OOC, a Head of Staff is something similar to a mentor, while also functioning as their own character with thoughts and emotions. They're there to teach others how to do some of the more complex and nuanced things a department may offer, but more importantly, they're an influencer. A Head of Staff has influence over a round that must be used wisely to craft a narrative. Because of that influence, that 'power' over a round to allow things to happen, a Head of Staff player is very much an important and game-changing event. It's the difference between an ERT being called and the station having to deal with it's own probems. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: The OOC responsibility of whitelisted players is to know when to help someone, when to give slack or be strict, and when to use the influence of their role to impact the round. For example, if you see a new player or someone new to a department struggling, you have the choice to help them. Sometimes it's good to let people figure things out on their own so they can get the satisfaction of figuring it out. However, sometimes it's better to help them because there are a lot of things that can be confusing and put someone off from a role/department if not managed right. It's also important to know when to give slack or be strict, both on new and well-known characters. The story of a round depends on it's characters just like any other medium for storytelling, and there are appropriate times to give slack to someone you know OOCly is antag, or be strict on someone you know ICly isn't, like stopping a roboticist from making a bunch of combat mechs to kill the lone ling. Which segways well into the final of my three main responsibilities: Knowing when to use your influence as a Head of Staff. Being a Head of Staff means that you have the responsibility to know when to allow or deny some very important things. A CE can determine the engine, a HoS can allow or deny non-standard equipment, an RD can allow or deny more things than I can list, so on and so forth. It's most important that a Command whitelistee know when to use their influence to improve the round for everyone involved, not just themselves. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau Ceti and how it affected your character and their career? James McNalley was one of Hephaestus' representatives sent to the Aurora to ensure their contractors were being treated well. The already well-known corperation wouldn't be too uncommon, and he'd likely have been trusted for some time. While being a representative meant he should put on a smile and treat others with respect and professionalism, it also meant there would be some expectations for him to work towards Hephaestus interests. He still gives service with a winning smile, and does his best to appear friendly to the crew. However, he got trapped due to the invasion of the rogue fleet. But still does his duty, for Hephaestus is the anvil upon which the world is shaped. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Mostly the consular and corporate representative roles, however the Heads of Staff are very much still on the table for future characters. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: As of now: James McNalley, Hephaestus representative. Lady Sslesazar Kesskra, Izweski Hegemony Consular and, Petty Lord Krreska Jrenuzika Velarikarr Al-Hrevirra, NKA Consular How would you rate your own roleplaying?: 6/10, not too much above average. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes. Extra notes: It is stated that I mostly intend to use this for corporate representative and consular. However, that doesn't mean Head of Staff is a foreign idea to me. I do intend to play Head of Staff eventually, and as such answered the whitelist-relevant questions with the Head of Staff mindset.
8. BYOND Key: Omicega Character names: Alicia Parker -- Security Guard Yingmei -- Bartender I have others, but these two are by far the most significant and well-known, I think. How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Two months now in a solid block. I dabbled for a few days at a time in the past, but this is the first time I've really seriously played here. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist? I want to play some of the head of staff roles as well as a consular officer from time to time. I'll be honest and say that I don't really see why these roles are gated off to begin with -- I certainly don't think the whitelist helps ensure any level of quality in the players and/or characters that I see in these roles, personally -- but this is really what the answer boils down to. Why did you come to Aurora? I played on CM for a couple of years -- primarily held there by the roleplay angle, believe it or not -- and left in about October-ish of 2019 following a final decline in standards that couldn't really be ignored. I went to Bay for a brief while before migrating to Hestia after a few months of trying to cope with Bay's community wore me out. Having tried Aurora for a brief period around that time I never found it gripping enough to fully engage me (that and the footstep sounds were atrocious), but when I dipped my head back into Aurora in late September this year I haven't really looked back. I love the standard of roleplay on offer here and find great enjoyment in getting involved with the community. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: I have. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? To the best of my knowledge I have never been banned, formally warned, or had administrative action of any sort taken against me. ======= Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is and should be about: I think it should be about fulfilling interactions and ongoing personal storylines between interesting and fleshed-out characters. I personally prefer playing characters that are more on the 'grounded' end of the scale (more of a working everyday individual than a novel protagonist or something), so I have a natural tendency to prefer that end of things, but ultimately I really enjoy seeing the creativity other people put into their characters and how they can bring interesting interactions to the table. I don't necessarily agree that it's something everyone has to agree on, at times -- sometimes your characters will be put in places you'd rather not have had them put, and dealing with that in a believable manner is part and parcel of roleplaying a character properly. As long as the setting as a whole maintains a level of believability that rides above a certain level, I think roleplay really does just boil down to the way individual characters interact with one another and build relationships; whether that's on a longer-term scale, or in the context of a single round. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is ingame? First and foremost -- they are the most important factor inside a department where new players are concerned. They have the most weight in ensuring that cadets/apprentices/interns don't end up confused and lost and alone for two hours, and should use their influence in this regard to make sure these sorts of players have a fulfilling experience as learners in learner roles. This duty of care extends to their department as a whole, of course -- the head of security has an integral role in coordinating security's response to antagonists on secret rounds, for example -- but I think it should mainly focalise on learner roles. Finally, they are the one line of IC contact between the ongoing round and online staff in the form of Central Command (and distress beacons etc), and need to have this in mind depending on how the round is playing out. In short, they need to be ready to fax as well as being switched on with regards to their department and its workings. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them? I don't really think whitelisted players have any extra responsibilities ahead of other players, to be honest. I'm going to be blunt and say that I've seen absolutely no difference in quality from command whitelisted players and players without the whitelist; there are people of all levels of quality on both sides of the scale. They have more of an ability to impact the round of non-whitelisted players, for sure, but I think the same basic concepts of decency, empathy, and an overall understanding of what it means to try and make the round fun for everyone involved (antagonists included) apply to heads of staff and whitelisted roles just the same as they apply to anyone else. I can only say that I'd try to play my heads of staff with the same level of quality as I apply to the rest of my gameplay here -- with the same care and attention to how other players' rounds are affected by my actions. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau Ceti and how it affected your character and their career? The current ongoing arc with the Solarian invasion is weighing extremely heavily on Alicia (my main character at the moment). Being at odds with her home nation is taking its toll on her, and while she's doing her best to suck it up and move through the fear and concern burdening her it isn't always as easy as it should be. Every day seems to bring a new and troubling piece of news from the Bugle, and the impending war (or conflict) is about to come very close to home -- potentially in and around it, considering that she lives in Mendell City. As someone involved more closely to many of these affairs than she'd really like, given her work as a security contractor on the Aurora, Alicia is riding a fine line between trying to protect herself and those close to her while not either torpedoing her career through a lack of engagement with her job or flat out getting herself killed through the events of the days and weeks to come. More than that is hard to say, since I have no idea how the rest of this arc is going to play out and where things will end up -- but suffice to say that canonical events regarding her have definitely impacted heavily on her personality and character development, and are a constant factor in how I play her round to round. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Head of Personnel and potentially Chief Medical Officer in the short-term, as well as very potentially a consular or two. I'm not sure on that. I would look to branch out into Head of Security later on too, perhaps, but after the trial period. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: I won't be using any of my existing characters for command. I have a concept in mind for a Golden Deep IPC as either a consular or head of personnel (probably a head of personnel, but I am still finalising the details). I really enjoy the concept of the Golden Deep in particular, and it's not something I've had much room to explore on account of most of the fitting roles being gatekept behind the command whitelist here on Aurora. IPCs are a race I've really been eager to dip into in every respect after getting the whitelist, and I am excited to see how I can blend an IPC's goals and motivations in with the gameplay and roleplay opportunities afforded by roles like the head of personnel and a consular officer. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I've been around, both on SS13 and on other games with roleplaying scenes. Aurora has given me a lot of fun and interesting creativity space to play with as far as character concepts and the general quality of lore goes, and I think by now I'm beginning to feel way more adjusted to that. There are some roleplayers here and elsewhere that still manage to blow my mind in terms of the inventiveness and overall quality of their roleplay as well as the speed with which they can come up with it. I don't want to put a number out of ten on what I think my ability is, but I've been roleplaying for upwards of a decade now and feel as if I have a pretty good grasp on building and playing new characters as a whole. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes. Extra notes: I'm going to be starting a new job next week, so my available time will be cut down significantly as far as Aurora goes, but I'll endeavour to put in the hours required if I do make it to a command trial.
9. BYOND key: Myphicbowser Character names: Katha Mars, Za'Akaix'Vak K'lax, Zaqix Zixquu, IRU-Kathy How long have you been playing on Aurora?: I’m actually not sure, but consistently for the past fourish months Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Consular and RD, I think both would be fantastic and touch on lesser touched heads of staff Why did you come to Aurora?: Heard about a good friend who migrated here, wanted to branch out anyway Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Perchance Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? None, am good boi I believe Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is about telling a story that makes sense, Roleplay should however be about fun as well, we all come here to have fun but we need to adhere to certain rules to make sure that everyone is having fun and no one is infringing on fun. Roleplay should be about the players just as much as the characters. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: The OOC purpose of a head of staff is twofold; to keep players interested within their own departments and to keep characters adhering to regulations and rules that all should beholden to ICly, to prevent action that is deemed irresponsible and otherwise manage these players in a reasonable way and handle issues through the IC chain of command and with central command. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: If a player is granted power above average players and chooses to employ them, they are taking it upon themselves to impact the round for the better, to be an addition to the command structure and hold themselves to a higher standard of roleplay. The best way to uphold these and the steps I would take with this whitelist are to make your characters have clear and concise goals and relations, make sure everyone is having fun and you are handling things in an IC way, not be overbearing or an annoyance, I would be there to add RP to those who were willing and have fun for . Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? The current climate is, and I will be answering this for my Research Director character by the way, quite an issue for them I would imagine. As a leader of a department that thrives off of usage of phoron for construction of advanced components and the debatably unneeded Phoron Research portion of the lab dedicated to exploding phoron, the biggest change in their day to day would be about conservation and maximisation. While they should have always limited certain fields of research, they are now more aware of the limits of Phoron and how expensive it is, so that would be the biggest change. They would most likely respond in kind by putting a greater effort into mining tools to locate more phoron quickly. But besides the shortage, nothing else affects them as they are a Skrell, and largely the changes would be purely altering to their research methods. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Research Director and Consular. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: I planned on using my incredibly old skrell, Zaqix Zixquu, and promoting them to Research Director from Xenobiologist, using them I would put more of an effort on Phoron Conservation and the usage of Xenobiology and Botany to bolster the resources of the department and make it more self sufficient, and of course I would love to use the Research Shuttle more. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I never know how to answer this portions, as it either sounds like I’m breaking my arm patting my own back or condemning myself. I feel as if I am a good Roleplayer. I give antags a reasonable amount of doubt to allow them more freedom in their actions. I can hold discussions about character motivations and keep it interesting. I keep myself restrained in a believable manner while also creating some conflict with some differing ideals, nuance is the key to a good character as the world isn’t in black and white. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? I understand that if I continually make mistakes, I will rightfully have my whitelist removed. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? I have read the pages in depth for the roles I plan to play and read the pages for the roles I do not plan to play with a quick glance, if I ever decide to play them I will read them in depth beforehand. Extra notes: Ha ha, command go *injunction *IncidentReport *stamp
10. BYOND key: Stobarico Character names: Yumi Yamato, Rim Soo-Min, Larissa Izakovich, Helena Raymond, Samuel Nowak, Noah Mayfly, Zhao Huang, Dominius Dornelles, Aires Fortuna, Alice Newcastle. How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Around 6 months Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I usually play command roles on other stations and i rather enjoy it, and also because of my previously denied application (2 months ago). Why did you come to Aurora? I was searching for a HRP server (Since i mostly played CM) and found Aurora and Bay. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I was ahelped once about calling out a cortical borer, but that's it. (At the time i didn't know borers were unknown to the public) Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: For me, roleplaying is to impersonate a character, act as he should act in real life, but in a game. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: They are there to maintain order, to command their staff (Command (Captain), Security(Head of Security), Medical(Chief Medical Officer), Science(Research Director), Service(Head of Personel), Engineering(Chief Engineer)) and to assist them as the Standard Operating Procedure lets them. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: A team needs orders, someone to command them, or it becomes really hard to do things, but, if the commander is bad, the team can fall behind, well, i would give out the orders, and try helping them as i could, that means, as the Standard Operating Protocol says (Obviously, on a crisis, i would mostly help them as i could) Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? Tau Ceti is one of the few factions with phoron in their boarders, they are an independent system in the core of the human space and NanoTrasen has a lot of ties with their government (The Republic of Biesel). They are currently one of the most populated and financially prosperous systems in the galaxy, however, the Republic remains unstable due to unrest and its agressive neighbouring "wounded giant", the Sol Alliance. The Aurora station (A high tech, and the second most important NanoTrasen station, losing to the NSS Upsilon) is a somewhat recent addition to the system, and so is the Odin (NanoTrasen's Central Command). And recently, a galactic-wide phoron shortage has been making everything worse, however, now the galaxy is in the brink of a full blown war, as chaos takes over Mars, and the 35th Sol Fleet is spotted by Odin's AI in the edges of the system. I considered most of my characters to be in cryo stasis for the time i've been out, so they haven't had the chance to react to the current situation. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Research Director, Corporate Liaison and Consular Officer, Head of Security. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking: Rim Soo-Min (Haven't played her since the first whitelist trial as she was promoted to Director and left Zavodskoi for NanoTrasen) How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I'd rate it to be good to very good, i've been playing SS13 for 6 years or so, and TTRPGs for 4 years. Currently i believe i'm also more integrated with Aurora's lore. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes. Extra notes: I've been away for some weeks now due to some IRL stuff, but i feel like after i had this "break" i'm ready to try this whitelist again. (With way less spaghettery)
11. BYOND key: Robotic Potato Character names: Stella Palmero - Warden Ada Keita - Priest Adler Abt - Quartermaster (Relatively New) Ward Halleck - Paramedic (Haven't really play him much recently) How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Since about January of this year. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Mainly I want this whitelist due to my interest in Consular Officer/Corp Rep. I feel like both roles have a lot of potential for characters with a bit more unique goals and roleplay opportunities. That being said I do have an interest in the Head of Staff part as well, though I'm unsure if I have much intention to play it during my trial. Why did you come to Aurora?: I came to Aurora mainly after being introduced to a few lore elements which I really though made the setting unique. Personally I think the setting of the Aurora its self is a bit boring, but the universe greatly interests me. I feel there's not a lot of retreading and there's lot of cultures which have interesting perspectives which also have ample opportunity for conflict and interaction with each other. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Aside from a sort of verbal warning once regarding going easier on some Mercs who had been holding Medbay hostage and killed personnel; yes I did have one warning which I contested and was removed. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: I believe roleplay is a sort of state of mind; in which you put yourself in the perspective of another person/character, taking into account every factor of them to attempt to emulate how they might really act. Roleplaying isn't making a cool character, it's interaction. You can write up a cool profile all day, but what it really comes down to is putting yourself in that character's headspace and being able competently portray them. In all aspects, not just being a likable, but understanding flaws and prejudices a character would reasonably form. Roleplaying is not winning or losing, it's the interactions you have with the world and other players. Of course those this must all also be juggled with the fact this is still a game and taken into account. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: The OOC purpose of a Head of Staff I see it to attempt to embody what is widely seen ideal for a department, and to help control of the course of your department not just in the IC sense but to shape the experience of everyone playing under you into something unique to yourself, and of course provide experience to other players in your department. As a Head of Staff you're one of the major factors which controls a sizable amount of player's experience almost similar to an antag. (Because you want to grief everyone of course.) Really though, as a Head of Staff you set the tone for the department in your round, depending on your choices someone may do something entirely different, or new than their normal experience. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: The OOC responsibilities of a Head of Staff are very similar to its purpose as I see it. As a Head of Staff it's your duty to be able to competently perform most duties in your department, not to be able to do them all, but to act as a guide to the players below you. A Head of Staff must also try to be inclusive to every player; now before you mistake my wording that is to say: of course character differences are a thing. For clarity, as a Head of Staff you should be able to fluidly interact, roleplay that is to say, with everyone in your department and beyond. Going back to my earlier assertion that as a Head of Staff you should provide a unique environment that's not to say every round has to be special but it has to have your own charm which you share with everyone. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? I'm going to style this in sort of how my character sees the current events in Tau Ceti then a straight regurgitation of what's happening because I'm dumb. Currently, Tau Ceti is on the edge of crisis. A Republic founded on the principles of freedom, finds its self strangled by what uplifted it once. Now, with the strain on the flow of the phoron which has elevated it has now become its crux, and with this old enemies now refocus their attention on the once burgeoning republic. It remains to be seen if it can hold from not only its internal strife, but the newly intensified external pressure from the malefactors who wish to exploit this drying oasis. Namely, the threat of Sol imperialist, which were once held back by the flow of the live giving substance. It is for this reason I have been assigned the prestigious duty as a Consular Officer of the Coalition to Nanotrasen, particularly the NSS Aurora. Noted to be a hotbed of many a rising conflict, it is a microcosm of the Republic: a melting pot spiced not only with its own employees which vary widely in their background, but contractors which vary even more widely in their agendas and motive. Here I am honored to showcase and nurture all of the finest cadres which have lent their manpower to this fledgling Republic, and the unity and freedom brought by the Coalition. Here it is my duty to show the Republic and its benefactor how strong it could be with Gadpathur, that we are not as different as it may seem; that we have faced similar adversity. This duty to Gadpathur brings me pleasure which can not be matched by anything else: to show all we will not be forgotten or martyred, that Gadpathur's people will not be overcame once more. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Consular Officer Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Yen Nguyen - Coalition of Colonies Consular Officer Adler Abt - Head of Personnel (May not immediately move him.) How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I could 'inflate' myself all day about my own roleplay but I'd rather you take it to my DMs. Really though, I'd rate myself as competent but I don't put much stock in that. I'd much prefer to be rated on how others see it.(AKA the point of this app.) Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes. Extra notes: N/A
12. BYOND key: Sycmos Character names: Nikita Yutani, Saulden Ramses, Lionel Kaspersen, Ciaran McGrath, Lucien Saravah, Ananse Twumasi, Zosar Al-Sayed, Reynir Jotunheim, Djimon Ashraf. Of my list of characters I have only played Nikita Yutani recently and regularly, the others being relatively new characters or being old characters that I've since decided to retire. I would consider Nikita Yutani my "main" character, as I've logged considerably more hours on him than really any other character since I joined the server. This year has been the most I've played consecutively in any lengthy period of time, so I've logged quite a bit of time under his name to the point that I feel like his character is relatively recognizable at this point. I frequently use the Discord NT Relay under his name as well, for the added RP experience outside of the actual game. Sometimes I use the Relay more than I actually play in a given week, entirely depending on the trend of rounds. How long have you been playing on Aurora?: I've been playing SS13 and on Aurora, and only on Aurora, on and off for roughly 7ish years since creating my BYOND account in 2012 and first joining the server in late 2013 to early 2014, unsure. I largely flew under the radar with most of my characters and did not participate in many past events, save for a few where one of my characters canonically died and thus was retired. I took an extended hiatus with the occasional log-in around the middle of 2017 until March of this year where I regularly playing again. With COVID having stopped a lot of normal life in its tracks I've had a lot more spare time to devote to hobbies and I found myself hooked on Aurora again, albeit much more this time around as I'm not distracted by the woes of work or other obligations. I usually play around 3AM-10AM EST because my sleep schedule is in ruins and it just happens to coincide with the play schedule of other people that I like playing with. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?:For the most part I avoided applying for any whitelists for the duration of my tenure on the server out of a feeling of inadequacy in my roleplaying ability, coupled by personal issues (college, stress, other life events) that led to some relatively poor interactions during the first two years of my participation on the server. I was immensely self-conscious about my ability to conduct myself in a manner befitting command staff and thus avoided the idea entirely, which led to me also avoiding applying to any species whitelists as well (save for Tajara, which I have had the WL for since 2014). Since then I've floated in and out over the years playing non-command roles, largely relegated to either Engineering or Service positions where I felt I was most comfortable practicing my RP ability and getting a knack for game mechanics as I was pretty 'bald' when it came to actual antag play. Overall I learned to enjoy the RP/extended round aspects of the game more as I got older, deciding to turn my antag roles off and focus on character interaction whenever I could. During my hiatus from 2017 to now I moved twice and held two jobs that were incredibly important to me since graduating college and settled back down in my hometown, working on a budding interest in amateur writing as well as refocusing on my lifelong reading habits. I feel that since I've left my early twenties behind and fully embraced life as a working adult (save for the current pandemic, although I am doing freelance web design as a side gig) I've developed a stronger sense of perspective for interacting with others on a workplace basis, particularly with service-related positions as I worked numerous sales and food service jobs throughout college, including in management. Now more than ever during my stay on the server I feel confident in my ability to play a command staff role competently, particularly Head of Personnel given that a large majority of my IC experience has been with Service roles. I think that I can positively contribute to the role given that it seems to be the most neglected slot during a large majority of rounds, second only to possibly Research Director, despite having massive importance. Why did you come to Aurora?:Truthfully I cannot remember why I did as it's been years since and my life has drastically changed in the time that I joined to now. Prior to creating my BYOND account in 2012 I participated on a number of different forums that had roleplay subforums or roleplay elements, and dabbled occasionally in other games that had roleplay servers or roleplay aspects. Somewhere along the line I stumbled across SS13 while trawling through my usual threads on forums I used to regularly frequent, and decided to give it a shot. Whether or not it was the "heavy roleplay" tag that interested me or the fact that I simply picked Aurora first is beyond me, but it's been the only server that I've played on since and I don't feel inclined to play anywhere else. Though I've taken several breaks and come back to completely different communities and circles I've enjoyed my time on Aurora every time. I'd say for this specific stint that I've been on I've probably enjoyed the server and the community the most, though. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: I've read the wiki page for Head of Personnel likely a dozen or more times while I've been writing this app, and plenty more times while I was considering applying for command. I cannot see myself playing any other command roles until I have a better grasp on their departments, so it's unlikely for some time I'll be attempting any other command slot. I've also had some brief experience as Head of Personnel on the handful of antag rounds where Nikita was injudiciously given the platform by an antag with the means to do so, and largely spent most of those rounds either dealing with hacked accounts or giving certain staff access. Nothing terribly extraordinary. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they?To my knowledge I've received notes prior to 2020 for small mistakes I've made while playing, largely due to the fact that I was (and sometimes am) pretty 'bald' and didn't know how things work - for example, not being able to use the stunbaton properly while playing as Sec and harmbatoning someone on accident. As for recent times I was talked to regarding disconnecting as an antag and chain-EMPing robotics, but both were resolved given the fact that I had a power outage during the former and unfortunately fat-fingered the EMP spell during the latter. I'm not the GREATEST gamer by any means and largely tend to focus on RP more than actual game mechanics, but I'm doing my best to avoid having further bald episodes in the future. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about:I believe that roleplay is the transplant of one's experiences and imagination into a medium that allows for free expression of the untapped potential of a person's identity. Obviously we are not at the stage in human civilization that we are free to roam the stars as we do as our characters in SS13, and none of us will likely live long enough to see that day come. Still the human capacity for imagination and creativity leads us to assembling ideas, concepts and dreams of what life in an intergalactic community would be like, and ultimately the collective work of hundreds of people over years in this community has led to what we know as the Aurora today. I feel that it's not only healthy for an individual to participate in a sort of roleplaying community as means of exercising their creativity and to manage stress, but also important to one's identity to be able to realize their own ideas in a way that allows others to interact with them and help them grow. I think that roleplay should be about cooperation, working with others who share similar and different views in order to assemble individual ideas into a greater picture that draws from those individual influences, creating something that all parties involved can not only enjoy but draw further inspiration from ICly and OOCly. More or less everything that makes up the community that staffs from the Aurora comes from a primitive idea in someone's head that they decide to pursue to make something bigger, and I feel like the mutual sharing and benevolent discussion of ideas is incredibly important to sustaining a healthy and lively roleplay community as well as healthy and happy participants. In turn those participants benefit OOCly as well as their imagination is allowed to be expressed without the constraints of our mundane everyday lives. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?:A player who maintains a Head of Staff position is not only responsible for behaving in a professional manner befitting of leadership, but also to set an example for others who interact with them and those who strive to acquire a Head of Staff position. Said players should know not only the ins and outs of their respective departments but also the collective consciousness of each group, able to discern the mood of each subdivision and utilize the staff within each to their strengths while mitigating their weaknesses with strong direction but a willingness to compromise. A Head of Staff should also have a strong sense of vision for their department and have the aptitude to work towards that vision, pushing the department towards greater cohesion with the remainder of the station in order to make it more prosperous and enjoyable. A good Head of Staff will set an example that others will follow not only while they are present, but while they are away and will use to instruct others. A good Head of Staff will set a healthy precedent for his fellow Heads of Staff, and encourage them to work towards a common goal that benefits every department. Not only should these qualities be carried ICly but they should also carry OOCly, influencing players in their department to be more polite and cooperative with the community and each other OOCly. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?:It is important that Whitelisted players maintain a standard of excellence for non-whitelisted players to look to, doing their best to uphold a sense of responsibility, integrity, thoroughness and fairness when it comes to IC play but also knowing when to extend a helping hand OOCly when a player is in need of aid in their department, or when to give critical feedback when they feel something in their department needs to be changed. When these qualities are exercised they are an effective boon to their department ICly and OOCly, pushing towards an environment that is not only cohesive and productive but enjoyable to play with others or on one's own. When players enjoy their rounds more frequently they are more likely to stay and contribute positively, which in turn leads to more positive outcomes for future changes and events. This cycle of mutual cooperation only stands to benefit the community in the long-term, and has to start with those experienced enough to take on the more difficult roles to push it. As most Heads of Staff are likely to be longer-term players it's up to them to hold the standard and not waver, regardless of the ebb and tide of yearly player shifts. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau Ceti and how it affected your character and their career? As it stands for my main character, Nikita Yutani, it is incredibly unlikely for him to be able to return to Mars for the foreseeable future. Seeing that whistleblower August Maldarth was a Martian and given Mars' previous history with the Sol Alliance it would not be out of sorts for the Sol government to crack down on dissidents on the Red Planet, as it's likely that his example will stir a familiar sense of Martian patriotism that has more or less disappeared from the surface since the war. Though he draws a sense of distinct stubbornness and recklessness from the collective consciousness of the Martian identity Mendell and by extension Biesel and Tau Ceti is his new home, having established a completely different life while living on Biesel that runs in total contrast to his life on Mars. If anything his life has made a considerably turn for the better since departing, no longer bound by the bleak urban living of Olympia and free to expand his horizons with a clean slate in a different system. He has recently acquired a new job, met who he feels is the love of his life, and is living comfortably for the first time in a considerably long time. That being said his familial ties still bind him to Sol and Mars, and it fatigues on him daily to imagine what mess home will get into now that the focus is on Maldarth's assassination, and by association of his personhood the Martian identity as it stands in Sol-governed space. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? The only role that I anticipate playing in any serious manner is Head of Personnel. The Service wing is what I am familiar with the most, having spent a majority of my time playing Nikita in both the diner and in cargo. I feel like I have a fairly good grasp of the community that inhabits both divisions and I feel that I can effectively play into their unique identities to try and push for a narrative of a more unified, cooperative department. I think that the department could stand to benefit from a Head of Personnel who plays more frequently and is willing to participate in each division on a more personal basis, seeing that the Head of Personnel is one of the least-played command roles while simultaneously being incredibly important crucial to the operation of certain station activities. A lot of the capacities at their disposal can be used to great advantage to help mitigate damages during station dilemmas or to contribute to collective efforts across departments. Unless I become more familiar with Engineering or Science I likely will stick to Head of Personnel for the foreseeable future. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: I will be playing a new character named Kasper Kallstrom, a Ganymedian Sol Marine veteran who expatriated to the Republic of Biesel to start a new life shortly after he was honorably discharged. He will be my primary Head of Personnel character for the time being, unless something changes for Nikita in the FAR future where he decided to pursue a college education. I usually play anywhere between 8PM to 8AM, as my sleep schedule is quite erratic. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I've been actively participating in RP communities since I was 13-14, across numerous forums and several other video games that held RP communities. While I feel like I'm well-written for the most part now that I'm older I feel that my writing suffered for a number of years after I took a decidedly turbulent break from reading and writing while in college due to stress. After I quit in 2017 I got occupied with work and didn't do any real RP until I returned to the server last March, where my initial idea of playing bartender with Nikita was to brush up on my RP chops. All told I feel like I'm pretty comfortable at a solid... 7.5/10. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Absolutely. I don't plan to do anything drastic or insane, outside of accidentally keysmashing things because I'm bald at the game. I've done my best to stay out of the searchlight since then, even bothered to turn antag off because I got tired of it. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? I've more or less read every command wiki page a couple of times, but I keep the Head of Personnel wiki page as well as the Chain of Command wiki page open more or less at all times just as a refresher. I always have a number of pages from the wiki open in case I need to reference something specific. Extra notes: It's been literally 7 years since I joined the server and I am just now applying for command and I am STILL nervous! I hope my app is good! Please ask me anything about my app if you need clarification! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
13. BYOND key: Tomkiel Character names: Jose Dean, Ostroverkhov Urvan, those are the main ones, but I got some other ones that I never really play. How long have you been playing on Aurora?: I've been playing on and off since around late 2018-ish, if my memory serves me correct, and then pretty consistently from late 2019, to now Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I've been given interim status, a few times, now, and I gotta say- it was fun. Other than it simply being fun, I'd like to be able to coordinate and organize, as I'm often available during lower pop rounds, where command isn't plentiful. And I want to finally use my Unathi whitelist which I've neglected. Why did you come to Aurora?: Aurora was the first server of SS13 that I was introduced to. I did try to branch out to other servers, but most of them just didn't scratch the rp itch, and usually were too chaotic, so I often enjoy the calmer moments on the Aurora. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Ayup Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Worst was a 3 day ban for validhunting, some months ago, now, I believe. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay, is in all essentiality, having fun pretending to be a different person or a bug, in an alien, and exciting universe. Do you like being a rat scurrying around the station and stealing food or a bartender doing bar rp for three hours? Having fun at it? Go right ahead. As long as you keep withing the rules, that is. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: A head of staff is there to 1. Organize the crew, to be able to effectively deal with issues, and help drive a story that the antags migt come up with 2. Provide new rp possibilities, that would often not be possible without a head of staff. (Expeditions, banquets, a raffle, etc.) and 3. Be there, to teach new players What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: A whitelisted player, is supposed to, in my opinion, have a high degree of competenecy in the departaments they play, as well as rp in general, and the current overall lore, all to be able to take part and encourage in new roleplay options for the rest of the players onboard. And, as to how I'd strive to uphold that, well, I'd try to maintain a high standard of roleplay, as well as keep up to date with the current lore (which isn't hard, as it's interesting already :>) Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? Currently, there is an ongoing Phoron shortage, that might quite likely, develop into a crisis. More locally, the Aurora seems to have been once again, the hotspot for everything bad happening, with Tajarans with guns, coming in the struggle of the suns against the moon, and more recently, the Dionae have also been up to. . . stuff. Jose has been affected quite a bit, by the recent events, losing a lot of friends to them. Him, as well as my new CE character, will have pressure put on them, to try and minimise the use of Phoron in engineering, switching more to the Tesla, and using more non-Phoron based set-ups. And my captain, will most likely be pressured to make sure the mining departament gets everything they need, as well as ensure their safety. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? I'll definetly be playing a CE character, as that is the departament I feel the most comfortable in, and have the most knowledge in. Other than that, I'll dabble with playing captain. And maaaybe a Counselor or Liason? But- that's in the future, I'd have to do some more research before I jump into one of those. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Koskek Sauh - CE Andreas Belbase - Captain How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I'd say it's a 6 to 7/10 Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes Extra notes: N/A
14. BYOND key: Hiccup121 Character names: How long have you been playing on Aurora?: More actively throughout 2020 but since late 2019 Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I would love to take the opportunity to continue April Esker's career in the research department and have her take on a more prominent role within Science. Why did you come to Aurora?: I have been a pretty active roleplayer for a good portion of my life, and recently SS13 has been a fantastic outlet for that. Aurora station appeals to me the greatest in terms of lore, community and general "feel" which is why I gravitated the most towards it. I've been thoroughly enjoying my time here since as well, which is why I've found myself sticking around. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes I have. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Other then mentoring people in R&D and Xenoarcheology, no. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay should be about creating a story and presenting it through interactions between player characters and backstory lore, as well as being a fun and approachable outlet for creative writers to engage with one-another and create a believable fantasy to enjoy themselves in. As a D&D enthusiast that has been playing and running campaigns for almost 8 years now, I thoroughly believe that roleplay is one of the most enjoyable and amazing outlets for any writer who wishes to better themselves as a creative artist but also have fun with others inclined of the same way. Roleplay is not only about allowing yourself a creative release in form of drafting a character and impersonating them, but also about putting those characters into situations and allowing them to react in a way that can cause reactions from others. This can be as minor as picking up a neurotic coworkers pen without asking, or as drastic as handling the death of a close friend through means out of your control. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: OOCly, I believe that the purpose of any Head of Staff is to provide many different facets of opportunity. For instance, a Research Director can provide assistance in regards to achieving a certain goal, meaningful and engaging feedback on another characters work within the department or advice to other crew-members or command members characters that may otherwise not hold the required information regarding an in-game event. Further to this, I believe that a Head of Staff has a responsibility over their department in terms of how they act and what they do throughout any given shift. They exist to be approachable people that are willing to help and assist at any given task within the department or reprimand characters that are acting incorrectly or even purposefully endangering the department itself. Due to being in the position of a departmental head, you're also going to encounter new players and new departmental characters as well. Because of this, as aforementioned, it's important to be approachable and easy to talk to, as it could quite easily ruin any new players experience of a department or even the entire server. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: To me, a whitelisted player represents an experienced player. They're people who know their way around the game and are willing to assist you OOCly with tasks and issues that you may run into. Whilst they're only players, they're players that have gone out of their way to try and engage further within the community. It is of course important to remember, however, that simply because a player holds a whitelist, it does no way grant them a "higher" status among other players. It is incredibly important to always be respectful of the rules, no matter what role you are undertaking or what "Perks" you may have gained. No-one is ever exempt from any rules, regardless of how long they've held a whitelist or how they've been otherwise. A whitelisted player is still a player, they just have the opportunity to play a specific role. If granted this opportunity, I'd want to uphold those standards to any other players I encounter by trying to offer assistance (be it with their job or an in game issue) whenever the need arises. I would always want to reach out to those wanting to learn more about the game or the lore, and hopefully strive to assist them in creating something they would want in their vision. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau Ceti and how it affected your character and their career? What a dangerous time to be alive in Tau Ceti and working on the NSS Aurora. Tau Ceti is declining into chaos over the one thing that gave it a place on the map and it's causing the Solarians to rip their hair out. April Esker may have come from the colonies, but whether she likes it or not her place is in District 5 in Mendell right now, and she doesn't have a choice in that matter. She can't complain though, District 5 isn't that bad... The circumstances of owning a dwelling there however, they are what sting. Whilst the wheels of bureaucracy grind in their un-oiled ways, the system continues to turn over what it can in terms of a sustainable economy and workforce, trying it's hardest to stay in relevance. Tau Ceti moves presently like a wild beast, rearing it's head when it needs to show a stance of intimidation and hiding quietly when it needs to turn it's produce over to the highest bidder but it always comes back to the same thing: Phoron. When the Phoron starts running low, and Sol start getting exposed by one of their own, Tau Ceti will rear again. This time though? This time, it may rear with no hind legs to catch it. With a job in research, April hopes to at least somewhat help stabilise this malformed growing crisis. She fled her home and chose Mendell to hide, but now she sees Tau Ceti's main selling point diminishing slowly and she wants to ensure that her little hiding hole stays good enough. And with the colonies now housing the Solarian whistle-blower, she finds her hands somewhat tied. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Hopefully going to start with Research Director, maybe expanding to other roles in the future like Head of Personnel. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: April Esker: Research Director How would you rate your own roleplaying?: Roleplaying has been, is presently and will continue to be one of my greatest passions when it comes to creative writing. It's something I find myself doing in any community that allows it. Further to this, as aforementioned I have been playing D&D for almost 8 years now with my own homebrew universe to play in. I could only hope to rate myself quite well in terms of RP. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes Extra notes: - I have quite strenuous work hours at the moment (I work in IT at a school, it's rough right now) so I apologies if I am slow to get back to any messages during GMT daylight hours though you'll often find me playing in GMT evening hours.
15. BYOND key: Lmwevil Character names: Tess Greed - Drill Tech Nikiru Kporaro - Warden XI-2815505 - Drill Tech Confessions Of Unrequited Heart - Botanist A Final Scream Of Terror Followed By Crushing Solitude - Quartermaster Ka’Viax’Ma K’lax - Chemist Ka’Akaix’Uual K’lax - Quartermaster Ka’Viax’Ioa Zo’ra - Forensic Tech How long have you been playing on Aurora?: I’d say actively for two years but I’ve been around SS13 since 2014ish Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: To play a Vaurca Breeder, and additionally to play Captain. Why did you come to Aurora?: I came to Aurora because of Bay’s continued decline of removing gameplay and promoting it all be a chat box, an absolutely fucking vile structure that just made me really upset. I stuck around because of the community and all in all a better atmosphere. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yup Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Never, I got a bwoink once for job hopping across rounds as a Diona but I don’t think that was even a note. Been banned once across all of my ss13 history and that was from AI on /tg/ in 2015 Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: I think that roleplay in SS13 is inherently different to tabletop, mechanics are in fact part of the RP in SS13. Roleplay is inherently people making up characters and locations and pretending they’re real as the characters to make interesting stories. It should always be about the narrative, not winning. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: A head of staff realistically exists to organize and delegate tasks to those under them. They can do things where others don’t know how, help train new players, and work with other Command staff to keep things running smoothly. They are to facilitate roleplay above all else, I guess is the point I'm trying to make. You aren't the main character, the others are. You just exist to let them further their narratives in a way. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: The responsibilities are pretty simple, do your best to not ruin their round and make interesting interactions and stories possible. With Antags it’s realistic to try and let them run their gimmicks without trying to look for malicious behaviour as an excuse to get them brigged/fired constantly. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? Ta'Akaix'Aoan K’lax as a Ta for diplomatic reasons was spawned by Leto’s hive along with quite a few others. They had been actively working to continue Phoron supplies from the Zo’ra and other nations to keep their hive breathing. However as the shortage has worsened their efforts have met more and more roadblocks, nobody is selling, everyone is keeping. K’ois can only handle so much, and the weight of responsibility to keep her Queen and what remains of her people alive is heavy on her large shoulders. Additionally she keeps the teachings of Vedhra at the tip of her mind, the ever present threat of the Lii’dra is indeed coming. All must throw aside their prejudice, we must all work together if we are to survive the oncoming storm. They have no strife, they work all in unison to destroy us, and it isn’t long until they will return. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Consular Ta and Captain Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Ta'Akaix'Aoan K’lax - K’laxian Consular Miranda Astrava - Captain How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I would like to say quite competent, been doing RP related things for over a decade. Always a weird question. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? MUH WHITELIST CAN BE REMOVED? Anyway yeah I understand. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Please correct “familiarize” to “familiarized”. Also yeah. Extra notes: I was told to do this or I had no pheromones.

How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Since Late November of 2018. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I would like to help teach new players, help guide the station and prevent it from collapsing onto itself, and I was encouraged to do it again. Why did you come to Aurora?: I came to Aurora because a friend of my, UnknownMurder, and enjoyed all the interactions on the server. It is great fun. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: I have and I recall them well since last time. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Several, three severe warnings and four regular warnings, from when I was being foolish and the likes. I have learned my lessons. If people want to discuss them, feel free ask me about them, I have nothing to hide. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Okay. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: My definition has not changed as much like before. "Roleplay is like theater, you immerse yourself as your character, you take on their personality and background to help articulate your character to other characters ingame. As you articulate your character to others, you help formulate stories, friendships, and undergo the hardships of your character goes through. You develop a work-like atmosphere with others while enjoying yourselves. That is what role-play is like to me." What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Like previously, my definition has not changed as much since it still rings true. "The OOC purpose of a head of staff is to help other players perform their duties in-game, make sure they are following regulations and doing their jobs properly. Through this, you aim to make sure your department is functioning properly and co-exist with other departments. If one person messes up, it is your responsibility to correct their mistake and act accordingly to their wrongdoings. If the mistake is severe, it comes down to you and command to decide what punishment would be for the person who committed the mistake. Outside that, it is notable to make sure you keep a professional atmosphere while being enjoyable. It is a game after all. " What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: My definition has changed here however, slightly. "The OOC responsibilities of a whitelisted player to other players is to be a role model for them, help them learn as they go on in there play. You are the mentor, there to help teach them how to do their job and well." Additionally, with that, it is about know when to keep self-restraint from overstepping your position as it may ruin fun for others. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? There is a whole lot going on in Tau Ceti and abroad. Phoron shortages leading to serious intergalactic tension with Sol Alliance, phoron storms becoming a threat, threatening to tear apart things that go through them, and Black Trident Worms popping up, eating away the precious phoron. Prior to that, there are some Tajara political issues being present on Biesel and throughout Tau Ceti. To Quintin Copperfield, this means that things are going to get much harder to work with in terms of crew relations and keeping them safe as the looming threat of Solarian aggression become larger as phoron runs out. Outside of that, he intends to keep people safe and content as best as he can. To Sterben, the politics of Solarian Alliance do not bother it as long as it does not affect it directly. Sterben wants to make sure that medical is operational and up-to-date on operations to bring down the casualties. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Generally? All of them but Chief Engineering and Head of Security. I need to brush up my engineering skills and I never even liked doing security work outside of CSI and Wardening. I prefer others do it. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Quintin Copperfield - Captain, Head of Personnel, Sterben - Chief Medical Officer, Flamel - Research Director. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: Around 8/10, still room for improvement. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? I am aware of this to a great extent as before. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? I am quite familiar with the roles on the wiki. Extra notes: If you got any questions, feel free to ask.
17. BYOND key: Valkrae Character names: Rrkrakhaz Njakalraj, Nadia Grzywacs, Quaesh Xelpo, Brimstone, Robert Dalton, some other throwaways used to learn departments. How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Off and on since 2014. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I had it before, and I really enjoyed the Command playstyle. Why did you come to Aurora?: I enjoy SS13, but I enjoy my RP to be rather serious. The other servers never did it for me, as it was more LRP and MRP in the ancient days. There weren't a whole lot of other options to go for, so Aurora it was. And I keep coming back. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes, I have. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I've received five notes on the server, and one synthban. Most of my notes are for going SSD as a Head of Staff, which is what caused my whitelist removal in the first place. One, however, is for using lethal force when not needed. I haven't had any other notes since 2018. The synthban was when I first joined the Aurora, and was appealed. ------- Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is about playing a character. To me, I think roleplaying is about making a concept, and playing that concept out in an environment that you don't control. It's different from simply writing, because other people have input. Other characters that other people are playing come in and out of your characters life, and change them. For better or for worse. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Well, several things. Firstly, to ensure that Departments are able to run smoothly, and without issue or hiccup. In the case of some Heads, their role is vital to the station. Secondly, it can help new players be taught much easier, as they have someone with a wealth of knowledge that they can rely to properly show them the ropes of that department. Lastly, and most importantly for me, they're there to enable RP that some in their department would like to pursue. For example, take the Research Director and the Expeditions. Without an RD, Science can't prepare for an Expedition together, unless a Captain approves it. An RD brings the Department together, and creates a mass of RP that can change characters. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Whitelisted players are, to put it simply, people that the Staff believe are capable and competent enough to have access to otherwise restricted things. They're trusted to set good examples for the majority of the playerbase, and create good RP with the access they've been given. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau Ceti and how it affected your character and their career? The Phoron shortages have had a profound effect on my Science-based characters. Quaesh Xelpo, my Skrell Xenobiologist, has been rather pleased with the Phoron shortage. With slimes being one of the sure fire ways of producing Phoron naturally, it's allowed her to further her studies into Slimes and their anomalous properties. On the other hand Rrkrakhaz Njakalraj, my Tajaran Scientist, looks upon it distantly. While it doesn't directly affect him, he doesn't have full access to Phoron in order to conduct his weapon experiments. Most of my other characters don't really interact with Phoron all that much, as they're either Xenoarchaeologists or Security, and have only recently come back to work. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Probably a mix of Research Director, Head of Security, and Consular Officer. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Quaesh Xelpo - Research Director Robert Dalton - Head of Security Ozymandias Manderly - Tau Ceti Representative How would you rate your own roleplaying?: Honestly? I'd rate it as a solid 7.5/10. I'm not the best at creating interesting characters that people look to as examples of 'good RPing'. At best, my characters are middling. I like to think they're somewhat realistic, however, and grounded in reality. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes, as it has been stripped for me going SSD already. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes, at least for the ones I plan to play. Extra notes: 1. I've since moved from where I lived when I initially accrued all those SSD notes. I lived in the middle of a forest, and my internet connection was spotty at best. Now, I live in town, and have a more stable internet connection. 2. If you have any questions, I will answer them as quickly, and effectively as I am capable of.
18. BYOND key:KesterShadowHair Character names:Jareer Al-Massoud|Stephen Yates|Var Septiumus|Kron Kolbalt|Dion Knowles How long have you been playing on Aurora?: May 26th 2020 Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I believe it's the next step in elevating the story/arcs and others RP. I like to drive the story regarding gimmicks and have no issue with them. I've found command interesting and would like to apply myself to it. Why did you come to Aurora?: I came to aurora based off its community and longevity. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes. I've read those anyway to base characters off of. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? None that I know of. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay in my eyes is taking control of a character that you've created and or has been created for you. Using your character creation base to further interact with the story you're given. Staying in character and moving forward with their ideals and behavior. Roleplaying allows an individual to use their creative mind and expressions to drive the story in their mind. You get salty when you die ingame you're attached to the character in a fashion. Roleplaying is the effort you put into a character to keep them believable and unique. It comes down to keeping the story and effort maintained for yourself and others. You can make a two hour round feel like five minutes when you're immersed. You want your roleplay to reflect on those around you keeping it to your standards and level. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: I've found that in order to create gimmicks you need a Head of staff to be on and ready to receive. I've been in numerous antag gimmicks that the station has lack of head of staff to raise the alert level/call ERT to defend the station if it got that bad. Sometimes the individual being there brings in players. I also believe people that are command whitelisted are generally trusted that you know what you're doing. In medical particularly you'd want a chief knowing how the entire bay needs to run before even joining in. The small but noticeable details will make you stick out. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: I've found that whitelisted players in any category /should/ be leading newer players to join them and or be more accepting to teaching individuals on how their race/role works. I personally developed the command interest after individuals allowed me to be Interim HoS/CE/CMO before. I would carry that interest/flag forward for whitelisted races and command positions myself. Aurora is being constantly developed upon and teaching everyone something you know is always fun/exciting. I've found that I've been playing engineering to teach people the tesla engine due to the king of the world arc with the phoron shortage. Whitelisted players are generally trusted by the community/staff to showcase what they are asking for in these positions. I intend on using my command whitelist to teach players Brainmed and anything related to engineering I can. I believe my standpoint in striving to uphold them is a teaching position for newer players/possibly experienced players on game mechanics. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? Tau Ceti and the orion spur is under alot of pressure from the elyra republic closing their trade regarding their phoron deposits. Tau Ceti is surrounded by the solarian alliance making the pressure worse to mine and collect phoron. Businesses and soverign entities have relied on phoron for too long causing massive issues. It will affect my CMO Jareer based off his original founding in elyra. He will feel the need to maintain pressure on his paramedics and EMT's to keep the miners healthy enough to mine phoron. He has backup options in the event his career fails regarding nanotrasen but he would like to keep the opportunity to keep IAC and NT together to maintain a healthy work environment for all. Regarding Dion he will side with nanotrasen to the bitter end. He's found his new lifestyle comforting being trusted to maintain corporate assets has his interest high knowing that he's on a research station maintaining phoron supply/research. Hano was a recent hire trying to solve and or adapt to the new phoron shortage. He will be utilizing his renewable energy efforts to maintain the stations structure and power. His career skyrocketed from the shortage. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? I personally flop between Medical and Engineering depending on my mood. CMO/CE. I've been told to apply for HoS by other people in security so I will do that as well. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Jareer Al-Massoud: an elyran IAC character. They are sixty-eight years old and specialize in surgery.(CMO) Dion Knowles: A jovian corporate character. They started working for corporate as an experienced warden. They are fourty-two and specialize in prison management and corporate regulations.(HoS) Hano Tenshin: A new hai phong character. Specializing in renewable energy and non phoron related equipment. They are thirty-nine. (CE) How would you rate your own roleplaying?: 6.5/7. I've found that I need to work on my "me" text more and I'm willing to work on it. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Of course. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? I constantly look at the wiki mainly for all of those fat chemistry updates and will submit updates to it myself.(Yes) Extra notes: I appreciate the individuals giving me the push to apply for this whitelist. Thank you for reviewing it. Feel free to ask me questions and or apply feedback. Any edits will be used to maintain formatting/ I slapped my CE in there finally..
19. BYOND key: Stobarico Character names: Rim Soo-Min, Yumi Yamato, Sergio Stone, Anne-Marie Leouncour, Erika Hoffmann, INI-2222 How long have you been playing on Aurora?: 6 months or so? Not really sure Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I usually play command roles on other stations and i rather enjoy it. Why did you come to Aurora?: I was searching for a HRP server (Since i mostly played CM) and found Aurora and Bay Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I was ahelped once about calling out a cortical borer, but that's it. (At the time i didn't know borers were unknown to the public) Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay in my opinion should be about "playing" a different person to the best of your abilities, doing your best to play up the character like it was a real person instead of the usual "it's just a game". What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Mainly, coordinate their respective departments and act as the most competent member of said departments. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Their role is pretty much of a Head of Staff, with the caveat that they should also play characters that can either be responsible enough to coordinate their departments or characters that add something interesting to the setting. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? Tau Ceti is the base of operations of Nanotrasen and one of the few sources of Phoron, a resource recently discovered by Nanotrasen. It depends on the character in question. My two main characters (Soo-Min and Stone) are the most developed ones. Rim Soo-Min hails from Konyang, and as an employee of Zavodskoi, is assigned to the station for weapon research related to phoron. Sergio Stone hails from Earth, working as a Sol Gov guard on London for the early parts of his life, but once he gets settled with his wife and kids, he gets tight on money, and accepts Nanotrasen's proposal to work at the Aurora Station. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Captain, Research Director, Corporate Liaison. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Sergio Stone (Captain), Rim Soo-Min (RD), Erika Hoffmann (Hephaestus Liaison) How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I'd rate it to be good to very good, i've been playing SS13 for 6 years or so, and TTRPGs for 4 years. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? With the ones i wish to play, i have. I have an interest in creating a CE, but firstly i'd have to play an Engineer to make sure i'm competent enough (I'm familiar with SS13 engineering, but i am not sure about Aurora's engineering.) Extra notes:
20. BYOND key: Vulcenus Character names: Ronald Monday, Donald Hays How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Since January of 2020 Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I'm kinda bored of simply being an epic security officer Why did you come to Aurora?: Got bored from Baystation due to lack of new away maps and intolerable exploration players Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Kind of skimmed through them Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Got warned for going AFK as a Cyborg in 2018 apparently Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: According to The Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the definition of roleplay (rōl-ˌplā), is to act out the role of something, or to represent them in action. It's more or less true, given it's The Merriam-Webster Dictionary. I think roleplaying is acting out the personality, traits and manners of a specific character, in my case Ronald Monday and Donald Hays, which are self inserts to a degree. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: To manage their respective departments, encourage people to work together and create roleplaying opportunities or instances by driving their department members to participate. As well as guiding new players and department members and show them the ropes, I guess. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Well, given they are whitelisted, there's a degree of competency expected from the whitelisted players on an out of character level regarding their behaviour, since supposedly non-whitelisted characters are to look up to them as an example. I don't think there isn't or shouldn't be much of a difference between the responsibilities of a whitelisted and non-whitelisted behaviour and both should be held to a roleplaying standard, but that's just me. My experiences in the game has shown me that there isn't much to look up to, anyway ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau Ceti and how it affected your character and their career? Given all two of my characters and the ones I'm planning to make are Solarian, I'm gonna give this take in a Solarian's perspective. The current happenings in Tau Ceti is revolved around the shortage of Phoron reserves and declining supplies along with the outgoing shipments to the Solarian Alliance faltering in a noticeable fashion, and this is considered a bad move among Solarian circles, since pretty sure all my homies hate shuttlepooling to work to save Phoron. I don't think it affects characters like Monday and Hays in a big way, but the Command characters will most likely be put under the spotlight, especially Gateman, in order to improve and/or maintain relations to NanoTrasen and the Republic of Biesel and see what can be done about the current political climate between Biesel and Solarian Alliance. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Mainly Consular Officer and Captain, or so I think. I didn't really plan much Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking: Patrick Gateman - Solarian Consular Officer Leonard Clausewitz - Head of Security Thomas Nyswonger - Captain How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I think rating people's roleplay is stupid Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action?: Yes Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles?: Sure Extra notes: Lava really hurts if you touch it
21. BYOND key: cheap31 Character names: CORE, Kekk'es Zuka, Johan Wurst, Bo-RING How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Three years, but I have been absent intermittently throughout that time. I always get drawn back. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I have reached a proficiency in the way that all of the jobs on Aurora work, in their own rights. Now I want to experience the different challenge of being a part of the command, or harrassing them as a Liaison or Consular. I've been de facto 'HoS' for a few tempestuous shifts as Warden and while I am not perfect or ROBUST per se, I think I've handled things as sufficiently as any other 20-something year old behind a keyboard would be expected to. Why did you come to Aurora?: I played on /tg/ for a few years when I first got into SS13. I really enjoyed testing my memory and exercising as my favored roles, but I didn't really get into it's shotgun roleplay and lack of continuity. When I first moved to Aurora I said it was to get more into roleplay and that statement still stands. I used to LARP in the pre-coronavirus age and so that idea of immersive roleplay really gets my goat, especially when I feel like my characters actions can help to drive another person's experience. And Aurora has really hit the spot for me in that, especially nowadays. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: I am intimately knowledgeable with what the wiki contains in its job guides. I enjoy poring over the wiki to plot prior to playing a job. Since the beginning of my time on Aurora, I have researched and made a character plan for each character within the constraints of what knowledge is available on the wiki. And I think that habit will make my future Head characters all the more real. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they?: My only blunder was 2 years ago and resulted in a Warning, but no temp bans or action was otherwise taken. I totally deserved being called out and getting my hand slapped. Instructing players ICly to repeat a bug was a shitpost that I needed not to repeat, and thus have not for a long while. Since then I have had zero admin actions on my account. ============================================================================================== Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is a conversation between the imaginations of two people. We work together to make a story that has each of us as the main and side characters. We may each be roleplaying a cog in a machine, but the dynamism between each of those cogs is what makes roleplay feel real for the people behind the keyboard. Roleplay is a replacement for social exercise as well as an exercise for our creativity and memory. At least, that's what it is to me and what I think it should be. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: To be an engine to drive plot forward. Antagonists may create the gimmick and set up the pace of the round, but it's really the Heads of Staff that can make the station click together and really be engaged. An antagonist gimmick that is not a big deal by itself can be made into one with a few well-selected words spoken from an ingame voice of authority. Together Heads and Antagonists decide the path of the round and whether or not the crew itself is entangled in it to create drama. They are also viewed with prestige, as earning a whitelist ensures a certain competency and mechanical knowledge. While they set the pace of the round, they are also intimately responsible for giving a department purpose beyond its base job guide implicates. This often includes IC training that is translated in a way that players behind the keyboards can learn the game in a more kinetic fashion. Or it could just as easily be used to create a gimmick goal that their department has. Either way, a good Head is looked up to as a leader with knowledge to back it up. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Stay in practice enough to be at least as competent as most of your fellow players and learn how to engage more people than just yourself. I will use gimmicks to drive drama and make the station feel more like a living breathing thing with goals beyond just this singular round. I intend to work the players into the overall story and use the ongoing Aurora storyline to drive each round to make every round an event. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career?: The Tau Ceti system is currently undergoing a harsh reduction of phoron drought which is making NT more desperate for outside help. And as all that is happening the Sol Alliance is dissolving slowly, but surely. This ensures that the Aurora somehow gets caught up in the action that results in different parties convening on it as an unbiased witness. Alright, I will admit that I am not as knowledgeable because I have recently returned to playing after hiatus and things move fast in Tau Ceti. That doesn't mean that I haven't done my research though since the Lore Overhaul on Aut'akh. Kekk'es Zuka, who is arguably my main character, has not been incredibly affected by canon storyline events in Tau Ceti as he lives on Oran in Epsilon Eridani. But I suppose if one were to force my hand and say what he 'might' be affected by is the Phoron shortages that will undeniably affect his ability to work so remotely from his home at "The Factory". He might be forced to get a Biesel Visa and pull away from his commune for an extended time. He may become frustrated and distant from other Unathi or form a community of Aut'akh. He might even be convinced to step down from his position as a Warden to work in Mendell as a shaman if enough Aut'akh had need for guidance from an elder. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted?: Probably Head of Security or Research Director because I look at those two as very capable of generating drama within the round, despite antag intentions. Head of Security I chose mostly because I have fun as Warden and would love to actually be able to enforce expectations within that department moreso than a Warden is capable of handling the Brig and Officers. The Research Director however has much more of a sandbox approach of devising some goal for Sceince to be aiming towards instead of just aimlessly performing their duties as expected. Such as research expeditions and material excavations on the Asteroid's surface as an entire research department. However, I think that I would be enticed by a Corporate Liaison position because I think that those have access to bring a fun outsider into NT business to push an agenda over several rounds. Maybe they would even be able to convert other employees into loyalty with that company or work to get labor visas for certain employees to work elsewhere. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Kekk'es Zuka would be aiming for Head of Security. After several shifts acting as de facto lead of the Security team in lieu of the HoS, he feels like there is a certain dependance upon him that would make him excellent for the position. And especially with him not being able to return to "The Factory" to assist his commune he would feel it necessary to have an Aut'akh that locals could look up to with their best interests at heart. Bo-RING would step down from contract work in Robotics to become a Corporate Liaison for Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals to better push the Bishop Cybernetics agenda. He was literally created as a Public Relations IPC that would push Bishop Cybernetics prosthetics and other medical technologies. I want to keep his Robotic Engineering intact by using medical device gimmicks to 'license' to medical for future use or cater other products to whoever's on his list. CORE would be another IPC that I designed because I refuse have any other humans on my character roster other than Johan. They function as a Research Director and I am using them to give science a little bit of higher purpose than just performing their base duties. So far, I've used them to create interesting overarching goals to facilitate roleplay such as preparing for employee evaluations. And they also serve to keep communications open and transparent (within reason) between the department and command. Thus far they have proven to succeed in empowering their crew and keeping them composed. ============================================================================================== How would you rate your own roleplaying?: "9/10 I've been at this whole roleplaying thing for a long time. I've made and broken a large amount of habits I can and like put myself into a lot of challenging and uncomfortable roleplaying scenarios. I think a sure way to show my 'veteran' roleplaying is that I enjoy putting myself outside of the spotlight to allow other newer roleplayers to learn the same way I did, instead of just being unenthused about being forced to deal with a newer player." I wrote that for the answer to this on my first applications and I still stand by it. My storytelling methods have improved even since then and I am a constant student of my mistakes. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action?: Yes, but I do not think that that will come to happen. I do not often bend rules for my advantage and my record on this server shows that. However, if I am proven wrong in the future, you can show me this application and I will most likely agree with whatever decision that has been made. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles?: Oh yeah... All of them, even the ones I don't intend on playing right now. While I believe in my abilities for the jobs I intend on playing, I can say I also have knowledge to play every job on station at least to a satisfactory degree. But if it were to come down to it, another Head character from me would likely start with another job to get used to the workspace before moving up into the Command role. ============================================================================================== Extra notes: I thank anyone who looks this app over. Every time I have posted an application it always comes with a wave of anxiety first. Thanks for caring enough about the community to critique or support me, bro. Extra Edit Notes: Added CORE, my new RD character.
22. BYOND key: Haydizzle Character names: Porter de-Abaros, Morgan Andalhand, Buhersiz As'zalth, Kar'skalzi Bollu, S'uzda Dhosu, MYRIAD, Aerkor Hri'zok How long have you been playing on Aurora?: About eight months, with varying levels of activity. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: My biggest appeal to play command is for the roleplay aspect of it as well as being a paperwork pusher. Why did you come to Aurora?: I never played SS13 before, but I got roped into it due to my heavy background in various roleplay groups and knowing a bunch of people on Aurora. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes I have! Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they?: To my knowledge I have not. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is telling a story at its core. Whether you are the storyteller of sorts by driving the narrative (like an antag, or perhaps someone just hosting some kind of zany event for others to enjoy) or someone engaging with other people attempting to start a narrative, roleplay is a medium of collaborative storytelling. In its various forms it varies from place to place, but for this server, it is intended to be a more fast paced storytelling platform for smaller stories I feel, which heavily differentiates itself from things like D&D, RPG video games, or forum RP, which all vary in pacing and longevity. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, in game?: I believe heads of staff are meant to not only organize departments and help keep people involved, but also make decisions that meaningfully drive the story of a given round. Of course this can be as simple as raising the alert level and making periodic announcements about dangerous activity on station, but it can also include more complex or self-initiated things to give people something to do, like leading a research expedition, hosting a small party for moral, or even checking up on departments to roleplay with characters more person-ably. While I personally do not expect any given head of staff to know everything about their department like some kind of walking encyclopedia, I do think it is reasonable that heads of staff also show exemplary standards of roleplay. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: This question I find rather interesting due to how it is for whitelisted players in general and not specifically to command. In general, I believe that a whitelist shows responsibility in knowing the lore and being able to generate roleplay or "hooks" with the character. Being able to turn a boring shift into a memorable one for some, or being able to just walk into an otherwise stifled room and make things interesting. From experience this is something I try to do already when I play a given character by having them be outgoing and conversant with complete strangers. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau Ceti and how it affected your character and their career?: Mmmmm well to give one example, one of my characters as a paramedic has been picking up shifts in Mendel during the periods of riots and unrest. (It was a good reason for absence of character for a month or two as well.) However in general during the phoron shortages, my characters that would not normally be interested in being command due to being "content" with where they are at are starting to reconsider if they would want to pursue higher paying jobs in the future. It was also a major reason one of my newer characters, Hri'zok, left their home to find gainful employment elsewhere to support their commune. The recent events with the murder in the casino have actually played a weirdly heavy indirect impact on some of my characters, seeing how some people on station are being affected by it after the fact and are talking about it with my own characters. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted?: I'm looking to primarily play Head of Personnel and Corporate Liaison. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking: - Dalask Caladius, a Dominian Head of Personnel who is offering their history of banking and human resources for NT's finest on the Aurora (I recycled the name from a character I used all of three times so don't hurt me if it sounds familiar). - Huynh Yen Phong, a Hephaestus Corporate Liaison from New Hai Phong who is being sent to Aurora in light of the phoron shortage to snipe more contracts from NT for Hephaestus (might not get around to playing this one, but listing it just in case). How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I give it a solid 8/10, but I'm always looking for more criticism and ways to improve my ability. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action?: I do, and hopefully it won't come to that. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles?: I have! Extra notes: Thanks for the time to look over this. I'm 100% willing to listen to any criticisms with my ability to roleplay or perhaps my grasp on the game at large. Feel free to shoot me any questions here, or any in DMs should you feel they're not relevant to this application.
