BYOND Key: Seven Ghost

Character Names: Suzy Starwell, Lucy Sparks, Paxton Reed, Hilde Brine

How long have you been playing on Aurora: Roughly 3 months

Species you are applying to play: Integrated Positronic Chassis

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: I read the Baystation 12 article

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question

Why do you wish to play this specific race: I think artificial intelligences are fascinating. I want to explore the physical and mental differences they have with organic crew members. I also enjoy the legal grey area they fill between being property and persons. Overall this will give me new opportunities to roleplay from another perspective, and having a screen for a face gives me a wider range of emotes.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: First and foremost, they are created and mechanical. IPC's are constructed with a specific purpose, which they view the entire world through from the moment they are commissioned. They don't eat food or sleep in the same way, but do need to recharge. Everything about them is simulated but inside of the bluespace workings of their positronic brains a hidden ghost resides.

Why does this species in particular hold your interest? I like metal bodies and prosthetics. I like the roles robots have in science fiction and cyberpunk. I like that they can be at once detached and yet entirely engaged in the physical world. I like their singleminded purpose and the way navigate a world designed for organics.

Character Name: Rusty Desperado

Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs

Rusty Desperado was designed to be a low intelligence android security unit. Originally intended for deployment in a wild west theme park on Mars, Rusty was given a humanoid style chassis and limited social ability in accordance with a more face friendly image than the usual Bloodhound model security bots. Intended for no more than herding guests away from staff only zones and small scale conflict resolution, Rusty was only afforded very limited intelligence and decision making ability. Even his body was designed to only approximate a human shape.

In the wake of a major embezzlement controversy and extensive damage from wild sand storms, the park was almost entirely abandoned and most of its equipment along with it. Many robots were destroyed, but Rusty survived, simply wandering the dust choked and empty theme park, performing his duties for an absent crowd. Time and sand made him strange in the lonely wasteland and lack of maintenance degraded his already simple chassis. After several years alone, his actuators gave way and he was rendered active but immobile.

He was found there in the ruins of the park by scavengers. Only there for scrap, they sold the disabled robot to a Nanotrasen metal reclamation facility. It was there that workers discovered what they took for a simple animatronic to be an oddly cognizant IPC. Instead of melting him down, he was given a bare bones refurbishment, assigned a standard NT serial number and passed him off to an Nanotrasen space station in serious lack of security personnel. Now in the reaches of space, Rusty Desperado does as he has always done, slowly wandering the corridors of his assigned stations. Though the rust never quite seems to leave his slow moving body and at times he still believes himself to be working at a park, Rusty performs his job well enough. A touch of the wasteland and those long lonely years are forever a part of his simple mind.

What do you like about this character? First and foremost, I love that he's a robot. I like that he's simple and uncomplicated, but with a hidden depth that is not always immediately obvious. I like his unusual origin and most of all I love his cheesey cowboy style and mannerisms.

How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'd say my roleplaying ability, as far as heavy roleplay standards go, is fairly standard. I could do a lot better, but I've been a lot worse. I should use my emotes more and find ways to let my story speak for itself instead of falling into too much or too little description.

Notes: This character is inspired by robots like Primm Slimm from Fallout New Vegas, Securitrons and the robot from Lost in Space.

You're good at roleplaying, and our characters, Vivian and Suzy have quite a nice Psych-Patient relationship. +1 from me. We need more diversity.

I've seen you RP as Suzy, and in my opinion you are a rather good RPer. I also like the background and personality for this IPC and think that they could add a lot of interesting interactions to a round. +1

Rped with Paxton a bit, and can't really complain. They carried out being a cult leader rather well. So in my opinion +1 for Mini Nar-Sie.

I was extremely wary at first because janus jaundice the bluepurple hedgehog that made a circular saw and a stun revolver every round but. But! That was a bad initial impression and I haven't seen you even do anything bad at all in like, ever. Lots points for improvement. Am willing to vouch for.

Janus Jaundice was my earliest character I made when I was still learning I could actually trust people on this station. When you aren't having clowns break into your lab and assault you then steal all your diamonds every round, you don't really need circular saws or stun revolvers.

yes. i realize that. and i went through the same transition. 'cept it was stungloves all the time to stungloves almostnever. i do miss the paranoia sometimes though. and people still aren't allowed to stand closer than two tiles.

I vouch for this person, because he or she (sorry, don't know your gender) have made an awesome cult round, and made a great scene, prior to bringing my character in for torture..

Awesome!
