Just like the Ask a Mod/Admin thread, but for CCIA!

When's my character's, Alex Graves, paycheck?

Alright, well, I haven't been able to confirm this yet but, I distinctly remember this being a lore question where Jackboot said the paychecks can come whenever. I will ask Jackboot whenever he is back on the Staff Discord and fix this later if I was wrong.

I am pretty sure that the lore question was rather recent so if you did some looking around, you MIIIIIGHT find it.

Why do DOs have ass ugly white berets? Who made those? How were they even hired?

The current CCIA berets aren't white, they are blue. (Couldn't get the image to work right)

I don't think they are as bad anymore. On the old code, the berets had a broken sprite where from the front, it would look blue but from every other side, the beret would be a nasty red.

Right. This had us talking in the Msay...

I'm going to verify that the N.S.S. Exodus/Aurora is a Research Station. Is it still necessary or required to salute your own superior?

EX. Assistant salutes Security Officer. Security Officer salutes Head of Security. Head of Security salutes Captain. Captain salutes CCIA.

You don't need to salute at all, whatsoever. This is a corporation, not an official government/military. You can salute someone if you want but don't expect someone to respond and don't stand there asking for someone to salute you.

To expand upon Owen's answer with some lore, I asked Jackboot this exact same question; lorewise, each station captain is permitted to set their own standard on saluting, they can make it mandatory but by default it is not because this is, afterall, a corporation. A CCIA will never salute to anyone and will probably tell you you're weird for saluting to them.

What precisely is policy regarding lying to CCIA? I am aware that lying to staff in general is rather frowned upon but ICly characters can lie, and I can think of at least one hypothetical scenario where one could lie about something to their own benefit and get away with it. (such as actually keeping their job for a while longer.)

There is nothing stopping your characters from lying OOCly. If your character is caught, expect severe punishments IC. It does help us when people tell the truth but I suppose, if you are good enough, there really is nothing stopping you.

Basically, you can lie but I wouldn't encourage it.

Are CCIAs biased on account of race, or do they treat every IR with bland equality?

Well... This is a tougher question. Officially, all CCIA are unbiased (Lorewise) but, they are still human and have emotions. I try to stay away from bias when dealing with people but I believe harsher punishments have been given out to species that stereotypically are known for doing certain things. (Like Unathi being violent or something)

They may be slight specism from time to time but we mostly try to stay away from it. The whole, how would your CCIA Agent treat other species when dealing with other species is a question that we ask our applicants when they are being interviewed but we never full out say, be completely biased when a Tajara comes in here for clawing someone.

Now, if the player base wants more specism to be within the CCIA Division, I may be open to suggestions but overall, any sort of specist remarks would be hard to notice, if noticeable at all.

  • 3 weeks later...

So I see this:

- Medical. Jumpsuits OR Scrubs are required if you are handling and treating patients, chemicals, or viruses. Failure to wear proper, sterilized clothing may result in malpractice (Neglect of Duty under corporate infractions, possible manslaughter) charges. Jumpsuits must make you easily identifiable as a member of the medical department.

My question is; how do skirts and nurse dresses fit in this? Because I am pretty sure they do not qualify as jumpsuits OR scrubs.

I have no idea what CCIA are or what the acronym even stands for. Is it like a whitelisted thing? Are those the people with yellow forum names? Where can I read up about it?

(oh is it like CentComm Central Intelligence Agency?)

CCIAA are Central Command Internal Affairs Agent. Think IAA, but their boss. They're paperpushers who sit back on central and make regulations, investigate incident reports, and handle people's employment contracts. Every few months or so there are "Duty Officer Recruitment Waves." They open up when the resources to train newbies and the demand for more CCIAAs is increased. Duty Officer is an archaic but colloquial term for a CCIAA which is still used. Essentially, where moderators handle OOC problems, CCIAAs generally handle IC problems.

Mmh, my question was primarily aimed towards the nurse dresses because medical themed or not, they're still baring your unhygienic legs for the sake of sex appeal.

I've fished up an answer for you. Since they're in the closet, they're valid medical apparel, as nonsensical as that may seem.

That does seem rather nonsense, alright.

Okay, so heads of staff can vote up someone among themselves an Acting Captain ya?

How do Xeno's fit into this? With all the heads we have there are probably a few combinations and situations where they'd think it's a good idea, but would CC flip its shit if they found out?

Xeno heads of staff are allowed to be elevated to acting captain, with preference to humans and skrell if they're available. Xeno acting captains should be watched very closely by any IAAs if they're around.

Is it only CCIA that get access to the IA job ingame? How often do CCIA recruitments take place? Are there 'Intern' jobs within CCIA for someone who wants to be employed within the org and learn from experience?

Everyone with a head of staff whitelist has access to the IA job in-game. The last two recruitment waves were about four or five months apart or so, so they're not terribly often. It depends on when the Duty Officer Leader (formally the CCIAIDS) decides to run a recruitment wave. I'm not aware of there being any internships, but if you're interested in being a CCIAA eventually, I recommend trying for a Head whitelist and playing IAA for some time. While this method is not absolutely necessary to learn the procedures required, I mostly learned them over time and through exposure, it can accelerate the process and paint a good picture of what CCIAAs do.

Also I'm not sure if I'm understanding this image correctly. Are CCIA and Internal Affairs the same or are CCIA the Internal Affairs 'heads'?

Internal Affairs on the station are the eyes and ears on the station of Central Command Internal Affairs. They're CCIA's people on the station, and CCIAAs are their supervisors.

Taken directly from the CCIA area of the forums. It is for a person being an actual CCIA when reading this but it should answer your questions.

1. Keep a small ego.

This one is important. I want you all to understand that this program is not a right or a privilege. It is a responsibility to the development of this server that you all wish to partake in. I don't want to hear stories of one of you bragging in OOC chat about all your cool CCRP. That is not the point of this job, doing that will only cause a rift in the server's community. I chose most of you based on the assumption that you all would not partake in such behavior but consider this your first and only warning.

2. All CCIA characters are permanently removed from Aurora Play.

This is adding onto the first point, I don't want you all to use this program as an excuse to make your character super cool and privileged. Will just cause unnecessary rifts.Any character you use as an agent cannot be used in a role aboard the Aurora.

3. You do not override the Captain in terms of station actions.

What this means is that you can't decide when to evacuate the station or when to call ERT. The Captain must request it and then you can evaluate it. That is all. You have to act reactionary to Head of Staff decisions.

4. Do not perform any drastic actions without approval from Owen, or a CCIA Overseer.

This is rather self-explanatory, don't fire anyone permanently on a whim. This is a big decision which can only happen if it is absolutely necessary.

5. You do not have a right to help with any investigation which one of your characters has a personal stake in.

This means that if you want to file a complaint you cannot then act as the officer who investigates said complaint. That would cause your personal bias to get in the way.

6. SoP is something you are allowed to bend, depending on the case.

What this basically means is be forgiving to those who don't know any better. The role of a CCIA Agent is not to fire random balds. It is to curb the elitism and prejudice that is occurring among the regular members. You do not need to go station side with a full security escort because some bald chemist was drunk on the job. Be easy on the newer players and harder on the regular players who are taking advantage of their status.
