[2; 26/SEP/2018] Bin Family visitation time!

So I had this idea over a wizard round that happened many many months ago, and wanted something of it implemented because it would add to the immershn you lot seems to love!

The suggestion is basically to implement a somewhat smaller, child-like sprite and lock it behind the visitor role (Not assistant), and a few off-station antags.

The point of this would be that you could have your family visit if you had two dedicated people to play said family. A visitor kid would always be accompanied by an adult, because you cant just let these little shits roam around on their own in space.

As for off-station antags, I feel it'd give a form of variety to how to react when you bump into some little dork that claims to have the power of gods, where you just pet them on the head and ask if they're lost, and where their parents are at, for example.

People go off of what they see, and people dont bother checking FTs/poses almost ever, so this would aid in the instant realization that this individual is not a fully grown man/woman ranging between the age of 25-100 years old.

Bit of an ORIGINAL IDEA, toss in your thoughts n' shit here.

PLEASE. I've wanted to do that wizard gimmick for a long time.

I like it. It can also be a good addition to refugee/visitation events. I just wonder how much spriting adjustments would need to be done regarding clothing and such. Seems like a difficult implementation on the surface, but also I really love the idea.

Time to robust some little shits Interesting idea, but how is it decided who the adult will be? How will regulations take into regard the children? How will the AI laws be changed so the AI doesn't space the children to save resources? I cannot really support this suggestion until these questions are answered Pratepresidenten

Lets see here..

As I had it invisoned, you would need two players aquainted with whoever person wanted family onboard.

So you would need X player (Stationworker), Y player (Kiddo), and Z player (Other parent, family, relative, guardian).

If you have two parents working on station, I suppose the kid could be met at the arrivals shuttle dock and looked after by either parent at all times (Unless they run off, the darn kids). This is something people would have to discuss between themselves, who wanted to play what, really.

Regulations are the same as any other visitor, but I suspect leniency will be shown by security if they broke a window or stole something (Unless you're a heartless secmain), and the parent(s)/guardians would get a talking to I guess?

The AI laws will be the same as always. The kids are visitors, just like any other adult visitor, protected by its default laws. Visitors arent necessarily NT personnel, but they're protected as if they were for liabilty reasons. Imagine the outrage if non-corporate visitors got wasted by a station AI, amirite?

I hope this answers your questions my dude ben10083

as long as you can't be a under 18 antag, I'm fine with it.

I don't wanna get killed by a 7 year old space Ninja/Wizard

I think the off-station antag is WizWoz for all those people doing child wizard gimmick.

I can't wait for Unathi to abuse the shit out of both women and children.

Also make kids take a fuckton of brute.

Maybe make it so they have there own custom clothes, a few styled choices, maybe ranging from hooligan looks to more classed and educated school looks, that way people can assume what the parents are like by how there kid behaves and or looks. Though I'd say make hats widely available for them but any other clothes are "too big" to wear.

Yeah I don't think I'm too comfortable playing on a server that has children in a gruesome death simulator. Considering how fucked up some of the users are with some of their gimmciks (dying and being pregnant, putting emphasis on it) I am absolutely not comfortable with this.

I barely -1 threads because there is always room for improvement, but the very core of this idea is just really bad and I absolutely oppose adding this.

I support the idea of having children on a Space Station as if it's like Star Trek: The Next Generation. Also, I would like for the suggestion to be emphasized on Butterrobber's point. I don't want to see a 7 year old antagonist being able to outsmart an adult and killing everyone. Though, it would be interesting enough to see what an adult can do to children aside from being Anakin Skywalker in Revenge of the Sith. For one not fucked up gimmick, an antag adult can tell a child to shoot the "toy gun" at their parents for the sake of creating a conflict.

I frankly don't mind the idea of children being injured in the game though I think it will be a little silly to have like, a sith lord 7 year old wizard or something, but whatever. Some people would be really into that I guess. And as long as they're restricted to visitors and a very small pool of antagonists (a ling or vampire childe greatly amuses me).

I support the addition of the sprites if they are used for SPECIAL OCCASSIONS ONLY and have a FULL WHITELIST. I don't need shithead little kids running around. I swear to fuck. If my main occupation goes from brigging greytiders to giving time outs to five year olds I dunno where we're headed with this WORK PLACE SETTING.

Please God no.

This is a game where people are shot, stabbed, set on fire, crushed into paste, choked in vacuum, taken hostage, tortured, etc.

Literal children have no place in SS13, or this server and it's setting. The idea of a grown ass adult roleplaying as a minor is more than a little offputting.

>People imaginary murder each other all the time in this game because they are aware the imaginary people are imaginary

>Imaginary children are somehow not as imaginary and make people deeply uncomfortable because they have slightly smaller sprite and a single digit IC age number

Good to know people are capable of separating reality from games. I don't understand the intense discomfort over the possibility that a fake child might be turned into meatballs as opposed to an imaginary adult, or get weird out by people who are adults playing children. The very purpose of roleplaying is to be something you are not.

Shouldn't your concern be reserved for people who want to turn people into meatballs, not the possibility that a child get turned into a meatball, specifically?

This would be an immersive choice if you thought that child anakin in the star wars prequels was a good actor at the time. Just as child anakin sucked any sound-minded adult out of the movie, boarding the station and seeing a child roaming the station would suck me out of the experience with the same intensity as my very soul projecting out from my body and astral projecting into a new dimension.

I am also deeply annoyed at any sort of pregnancy or child rp. Why are you forcing me, if I am an antagonist, to either exclude you from all my shenanigans or become a child murderer?

This isn't immersive, and it will lead to nothing immersive.

Child murder is on the same level as torture porn. Refusing to acknowledge this fact and putting the blame on me for not being mature enough to torture and murder a representation of a child is immature. If I turned this around on you and put you on blast for being uncomfortable with erotic roleplay on the server because it is "simply two sprites resting on each other and some graphic text", would your feelings on the matter be completely invalidated? No! You'd be grossed out and annoyed and that would be completely valid. Don't be a butthead.
