What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): (RGB 0, 35, 115)

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question

Why do you wish to play this specific race: I want to explore being able to build a Vaurca character as an academic pursuer, somewhat unorthodox as to what the majority of Vaurcae tend to fit in the world, but hopefully it'll actually be interesting to develop.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: There's a lot to say on the subject of the Vaurca but I can sum it up as reductive and simply as possible. The Bound are an effective slave-caste that exist to get grungy and dirty and do things that nobody else is actually willing to do by themselves. The Unbound are more flexible characters that each have their own role in society but generally tend to plug into their personal idiot boxes to enjoy life as it was meant to be enjoyed. VR is like mana of the heavens to the bugs. They're incredibly discomforted by light and tend to wear blinders (effectively sunglasses) to compensate how incredibly annoying the light is for them. The Unbound, despite not being enslaved to the will of the Queen, still have an incredible amount of loyalty to their own hive Queens and do as they will to uphold the better interests of their Queen and the hive. There are many hives, each with their own specific nuances of characteristics. The Lii'dra are the bad guys and are the most deceptive yet flexible of the bunch, though they're only played by antagonists.

Character Name: Za'Akaix'Rakt C'thur

Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs

Za'Akaix'Rakt is a C'thur envoy dispatched by the high Queen Ta'Akaix'Tyr’kaal’yskt C'thur. Serving the Jargon Federation as a diplomatic agent, Rakt was displaced throughout the many governmental departments of the Qerrbalaki political structure, eventually settling for the longest time serving as a counsellor of Vaurcae affairs to a prestigious Skrellian hyperspatial-anomalist. During this period of time underneath the Skrellian professor's wing, Rakt became the professor's student. As a docile, observant and intelligent member of their race, Rakt quickly picked up the nuances of the curriculum being taught, especially given Rakt's inherent enthusiasm to learn more about this new and exciting extra-dimensional plane that existed not only outside realspace, but also outside bluespace and the virtual reality realm that Rakt part with on bittersweet terms to better serve the interests of his high Queen. To speak with the Qerrbalaki officials, he was temporarily outfitted with an augment to understand and synthetically generate the Skrellian languages, with competent accentuation and understanding of dialect.

An accident eventually led to the professor's immediate disappearance. Upon investigation, the Qerrbalaki police department initially fingered the Vaurca as the culprit, but the internal affairs department eventually concluded their own internal investigation and influenced the police force to drop all charges. It would later be revealed to the public that that evidence was found in the professor's lab that indicated a stationary portal prototype was being worked on, and that they detected recent energy discharges within the immediate vicinity around it. The investigation concluded the professor displaced himself through an accident and had to be decided missing or killed in the pursuit of science. Rakt himself was not ever aware of the nature of the portal device and was unable to provide any helpful details pertaining to the accident short of explaining what was told to him about what was already known about hyperspatial clusters, the surrealistic description of the spatial realm and several other nuances that both the police department and the internal affairs structure both handwaved as irrelevant to their interests.

A will titled to the professor that disappeared was eventually discovered. Evidently, the professor was lined up for a contractual deal with the mega-corporation NanoTrasen, which to the Jargon Federation, everyone knew the company was attempting to sink its fingers into every pie it could. The professor was evidently offered an incredibly lucrative deal, but in terms of personal motivations, unlocking the secrets of the hyperspatial realm was more important to her. Knowing fully of the risks, the professor signed on with NanoTrasen but also negotiated a clause in the event she would ever disappear or die through an unfortunate proceeding in experiments. The clause dictated that if the professor herself were to disappear, her personal assistant Rakt would be act in her place and be employed as a specialist in her stead. NanoTrasen apparently agreed to this contractual clause.

The will also stated that 10% of the professor's recently earned grant would go to Rakt, whereas the rest would be spread throughout her living family in addition to a small sum being recirculated back to a Qerrbalaki charity. With 2000 credits in Rakt's pocket, he would, with his high Queen's blessing, relocate to Mendell City to negotiate contractual details at the local NanoTrasen hiring office.

What do you like about this character? As a member of the C'thur hive, Rakt is not only an avid word-smith due to the new Tau Ceti basic vocabulator augmentation he bought for himself, but he is also a very passionate poet, if not a complete braggadocio about it. He wrote three books of poetry during his time staying with the Skrell on Qerrbalak. He did not earn a single credit in royalties due to being exploited in contracting with publishers, but his surrealist writing is apparently enjoyed by some Skrellian elders. Rakt is a fun concept for me because I wish to explore being able to build another academic character for a species that is most commonly valued for physical labor and less so for their brain power. Rakt is mostly going to act as a specialist as an anomalist, with revived interest in extra-spatial travel as the closest thing to an expert on the subject short of his own former mentor. I mostly like this character because I've no idea how this'll turn out.

How would you rate your role-playing ability? I've had a lot of experience but I have 'on' days and 'off' days where I'm either at my best or not. Some days I'm incredibly verbose, but other days I'm just on autopilot trying to blow off some steam and chill. Other people can attest for me either being good or terrible at RP.

Notes: This will be the final whitelist I'll have unlocked. It's kind of exciting to never need to make another application ever again.

I may make another bound character later but I wanted to present my more fleshed out concept first. I hope it doesn't zzzzzzuck.
