shaggygieco
which is better? mechanical pencils are the best Quote Link to comment
TheSleepyCatmom
Always go with a good pencil. For art, for writing, for all-around use. Sadly we can't use pencils in space because of graphite poisoning if we were writing while gravity's out. Or something. I don't recall the literal reasoning. Quote Link to comment
Butterrobber202
Pens for official stuff, pencils for brainstorming and things that you might have to retconn later. Quote Link to comment

They use mechanical and normal pencils in space. Quote Link to comment
TheSleepyCatmom
I did a google, it's because the eraser is combustible and stuff. And makes dust. In low-gravity that's terrible. Edit: Gimme mechanical pencils in SS13 when pls Quote Link to comment
UnknownMurder
I use a specific pen for everything. What specific pen? I use a ballpoint pen that is 0.7 mm and is retractable. I often dislike to use other writing utensils other than said pen and certain mechanical pencils. If you use this, you should feel bad for yourself and find better ones. Â Quote Link to comment
Conspiir
Pencils generally aren't good if you want to be taken seriously. They're great for things like art, but then you're supposed to go over them again in pen. The permanency of it commits the idea and also suggests you're very serious about whatever you're proposing. Only classes I have that even allow pencilwork to be submitted is math and physics (if math is involved). So, pens. Yeah. These have gotten me through the past several years Quote Link to comment
AmoryBlaine
Bic pens, Staedtler pencils. Quote Link to comment
TheSleepyCatmom
Ew, Bic. Get out. But uh. I've had this Tutto3 for the past freaking forever, and it's a mechanical pencil and lovely for drawing. I'm terrible but it's nice to have good tools, sometimes. I'm also a nerd and prefer fountain pens because I like how they feel when they write. Quote Link to comment
SatinsPristOTD
Blackwing for pencil. Uni-Ball Jetstream for pen. Faber-Castell makes a really nice mechanical pencil as well. Quote Link to comment

Graphite is quite conductive, which is the reason to why you really don't want it in proximity of electronics in zero G Quote Link to comment
TheSleepyCatmom
Anything with metal fragments in it is likely to be conductive. Quote Link to comment
