The Administrative Coordination Network

What is it?

The Administrative Coordination Network, or ACN for short is a networking program based in Discord, to allow NanoTrasen's Station Command staff, in charge of the rotary administration of their millions of facilities, to communicate and coordinate. These channels are meant for Heads of Staff to build a sense of community within their fields of leadership, and begin setting their own wide-ranging policies of enforcement that falls within their authority.

How does it work?

Upon joining the ACN, each newcomer is expected to register by notifying the Operations Office of their name, rank within NanoTrasen, and any other departments they specialize, or have interest/investment in the policy of. The office will then place the newcomer into the channels of their interest, so that each person only sees the information they have personally subscribed too.

Because discussions with multiple people can be exasperatingly hard to keep on one topic, the necessary infrastructure has been put in place to allow any member of the ACN to put in a request at the Operations Office or to their Chairperson, to move a specific topic to a private and specific conference room, or a voice-chat conference link. Alternatively, the private channels can be reserved in advance, and the subject of the meeting will be announced, and anyone wishing to join will be added by the Information Office.

For a brief list of what each Head of Staff role is by default subscribed too, please see the spoiler attached below.

Captain - Command, Security
Head of Personnel - Service, Command
Internal Affairs Agent - Command, Security
Head of Security - Security
Chief Medical Officer - Medical
Research Director - Research
Chief Engineer - Engineering

Who oversees it?

Executive

The ACN is overseen by the Management and Administration Office (MAO), which is directly administered by the Director of Operations. The Director of Operations is the chief executive of the organization, and as such, has considerable authority in taking action within the ACN, within the confines of ACN By-laws. Below the Director of Operations, there are the Operations Administrators, as well as the Operations Office Supervisor. Both of which play a role in the logistics and moderation of the network and are appointed by the Director ; below them are the Policy Committee Chairpeople, who are either appointed by the Director, or voted in by their committee. In the end, both the Management and Administration Office and the Operations Office answer to Central Command.

Legislative

The ACN is also subject to the deliberative body that it maintains, the General Assembly. The General Assembly is the entirety of the network's official membership, and works as a mock-parliamentary body that can draft and enact by-laws, appoint ACN officials, and override members of the ACN Executive. The body is also able to set the general goals and direction of the ACN.

Judicial

The ACN will soon maintain an Oversight and Compliance Office, which will be managed by an Ombudsman. This office will take complaints against the network, its affiliates and its members in engage in private, unbiased review and investigation. This office shall have absolute adjudication powers in the event of major conflicts of interest.

What's the point?

The point is to provide a stable area that is more instantaneous and fast-paced for Heads of Staff to discuss station policy. As the information becomes available, summaries of all fruitful discussions will be published to the entirety of NanoTrasen's Station Command staff, including those not within the ACN. This will show the general direction that Station Command wishes to take in administrative matters, and may help Heads of Staff create more static policies for their departments.

The ACN will also make official suggestions to Central Command, should a certain topic be considered incredibly important, and have passed through a General Conference of General Assembly. This will ensure that Station Command can actively get across their point to Central Command, without the risk of wasting NanoTrasen's time.

Finally, the ACN will work towards establishing auxiliary systems that provide benefits to the station's crew and Station Command.

Security Update

Following a breach in security, as the result of the theft of Ahren Hawkins' (Operations Assistant) PDA, their permissions were quickly revoked to prevent any critical damages to the ACN's systems and network. Following a review of our systems, nothing was damaged. The thief was able to send pictures to ACN Operations, the administrative channel of the Network, before the access was removed.

Have a complaint?

The Operations Office provides independent review services of Heads of Staffs, or certain departmental issues. These activities are all done with the cooperation of those involved, and within NanoTrasen Corporate Regulations. Should you have a complaint to file for independent review, meaning separate from Central Command Internal Affairs and the punishment process, please contact Zion Thrusk ((XanderDox)), or a relevant Policy Group Chairperson.
