New Species In Town - Instruments or Infestation?

Recently, a new species - scientifically called the Vaurca - has made it's entrance on the scene of Tau Ceti.

Basically gigantic insects, their society is reported to be quite similar to them as well - and so is their capability to work. Slowly but surely - their impossible work drive and their immensely lower costs have made them a powerhouse of cheap labor, quickly filling posts in workplaces that could otherwise be taken by actual citizens, driving entire families to the streets and stealing a large part of the market to themselves. We are already feeling the effect - the reported unemployment rate has increased by one-point two percent in two weeks. Projected estimates show that, at this rate, every single sector that does not have a paperwork, safety or otherwise public service component will be replaced by the Vaurca within the next four months, increasing the unemployment rate by upwards of sixty percent! And that's only because, right now, lax laws ALLOW them to occupy these roles - and soon, even, maybe even the civilian sectors will be affected - not even our banks and restaurants will be safe. Do YOU want to be served by a big space bug?

And THEN there's the problem of their mouths. Have you seen it? Large like an arm, strong like a hippopotamus' jaw. They're reported to eat meat, too. Is that their plan? Run down our economy to feed on the unemployed with their large, violent mandibles? Experts say it's possible - they have been noted to be able to tear the flesh and rend the bones of our good citizens, which only tried to defend themselves - and if they can assault people, there's nothing stopping them from just grabbing a snack out of someone's arm. It could be your resident hot dog stand attendant. It could be that friendly worker whose job just got replaced by one of the bugs. It could be your grandmother, even. Or it could be YOU! And what protection do we have? Laws? What are laws going to do against such a great number?

What's more, they reportedly need only air to be exposed to space. What's stopping them from becoming a bigger problem than space carps to space stations, tearing the steel walls apart and inflicting the dread of being exposed to vacuum to the poor crewmembers inside? What's stopping them from breaking open a station and turning it from a workhorse of our great society into a big space ant buffet? Turning one of our warships into a well-protected snack bar? Your local space elevator could even be a pit stop.

We need concrete action. We need actual laws that limit their numbers - laws that allows us to, at least, turn them back, if not to make sure they never come back by whichever means required. We need laws that assure that there will be no space arthropods creeping up on our children's window and making them their next appetizer. We need the power to make sure that no good people are out of a job because some insect asks for less!

We need safety. The question is; who will provide it?

More Troubles on the Horizon; The Unathi Strikes

Let's face it, Biesel is in poor shape.

As mentioned last week, the Vaurca are still causing trouble. So far, their growth - and impact - have perfectly followed the curve projected by our economical experts. The space ants are still biting people and stealing our citizens' jobs.

But on top of that, the Unathi have woken up. Following news that they completely broke their homeworld's climates by nuking themselves (showing how smart humanity was to stop their usage after World War Two, hundreds of years ago), their innate violence has been directed outwards.

We all know, from our peers, that these space geckos have aggression to spare. With their powerful jaws and sharp claws, more than half of the public assault charges that were applied within a workspace originated from an attack from some of these bulky raptors. Their so-called sense of honor, their delusions of speaking to ancestry and their short temper makes them little more than walking, scaly ticking time bombs.

And now all news network cry out: the space iguanas are attacking! Our very own human governors are getting executed! The Frontier is in danger!

Even NanoTrasen, one of the largest and most well-known companies in Tau Ceti, was affected - the Unathi haven't claimed responsibility, but what other species would be so cruel as to deprive thousands of individuals the right to a safe workplace? The right to continue their lives after the all-so-common accidents happen aboard space stations?

What other species would destroy a whole employee base's worth of records? What other purpose would it serve than to have an easier time attacking us, humans?

We need more safety from these threats. We need someone who will not hesitate to kick out these murder machines from our deserved space. But who will it be?

Who will keep us safe from the space reptiles?
