Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question
Why do you wish to play this specific race:
I have always enjoyed playing synthetic creations and the thought of beings that mimic humanity fascinates me. As well as the possibilities of artificial personalities having seemingly illogical quirks.
Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:
As an IPC, one must take into account, at least to some degree, how their posibrain functions. Is it basic and functioning solely on a simplistic Utility system. Or is it more complicated than that? On top of this, emotion synthesizers could make interesting possibilities. Who's to say that synthetic races respond to emotional psychological trauma the exact same way as humans
Character Name:
Mediuni
Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs
Mediuni was built by Hephaestus Industries to serve as a comforting, if expensive face to greet those coming into medical facilities for treatment. Originally under the designation Medical Unit 53-22, he was sent to various stations and was given emotion synthesizers. He went to many stations without incident, being fairly happy and easily mistaken for human as he constantly joked. He acquired his name from a nickname, as medical unit didn't have a nice ring to it. This existence was nice. Fixing people was nice. Socializing is nice. Though on one station, still not publicly known what happened to it, Mediuni was assigned to it, and had had a simple enough time. Before suddenly there was panicked yelling over comms. No one was clearly communicating the threat that was taking place. Mediuni was in the dark until people were dragged into medbay with massive injuries. Some with scans revealing... Something was inside them that should not be there.
Before Mediuni could help these patients, or even wrap his head around what is happening, he was forcibly taken out of medbay. Forced to leave behind so many injured and dying. Mediuni took note the person bringing him to an escape pod was injured, but he did not have anything with him to patch the wound. He and this person. Were friends. And locked in the escape pod with him, he was forced to watch this friend die. Along with being forced to essentially accept that all the other friends on that station were gone forever. It fried something in his head. Particularly, the emotional synthesizer. While emotions still shine through from time to time. Mediuni now tends to behave in a blatantly robotic manner. Talking very flatly in a permanently friendly tone, and constantly, disturbingly smiling. He still performs his tasks just as well, but is nowhere near as comforting as he once was.
What do you like about this character?
The idea of psychological trauma in a synthetic mind fascinates me. Also I love medical roles in most things.
How would you rate your role-playing ability?
Fair. I'm not the best but definitely not new to this. New to blending gameplay and roleplay? Yes. New to roleplay? Not in the slightest. (MUDs and MUSHes. Google it.)
Notes:
Fairly unfamiliar with Aurora station lore. More than willing to tweak things where needed.
