BYOND Key: NickSho_ Character Names: Chris Brown, Sarah Morgan Species you are applying to play: Dionaea What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I'm very interested in the Dionaea, playing as one has fascinated me in every server I played as this species. In my opinion, they are very interesting beings, their biology is fascinating, the way they adapt and learn is marvelous, I also love the mysterious atmosphere behind the origins of the Dionaea. Now, I'm applying to play as this species because I myself want to improve as a roleplayer and try out new things, this is an heavy-roleplay server, so it's the best opportunity I got to challenge myself in being more creative with roleplaying, and collaborating in this story-telling experience. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The Dionaea are WAY different than humans, they feed off light and radiation, they can survive in the vacuum of space, but have also slow reactions in just about everything, the more nymphs the gestalt is composed of. However, they are also highly intelligent beings with an high learning potential, they may have difficulty moving, speaking and reacting, but they understand things immediatly, and can also get knowledge about a species by simply absorbing their genes. They are kind of passive, they don't feel pain, but they emulate emotions (they obviously place logic over emotions). They are very good at adapting, and also have healing abilities, such as regrowing limbs, organs and healing brute trauma, ensuring that they have enough radiation and biomass to feed off. Their physical slowness makes it hard to speak fast languages, but can speak Tau Ceti Basic fairly well. Character Name: Beautiful Starry Night Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs It all started with 5 Dionaea nymph seeds, laid on a radioactive planet, with living flora and fauna, and a little amount of Dionaea presence. This planet had a rich atmosphere of carbon and oxygen, perfect for the eggs to form a pod and eventually hatch, feeding off radiation, air, and the nearby flora. So it happened, 5 nymphs came out the eggs, looking around, confused, but curious. They were curious about the fauna, however, they realized it was very hostile, and decided to find shelter in a small cave on the first day. The nymphs decided to merge, to improve their survivability, and it took aproximatively 3 hours. Once merged in a large nymph-shaped gestalt, they realized it went dark, got out of the cave, and looked up in the air, they were fascinated by the beautiful starry sky, and decided to lay on the ground and watch it all night... time passed, and the nearby star made it day on the planet. The gestalt was still looking up in the sky, when it saw a big metal thing in the sky, flying, and getting closer to the ground. The ship succesfully landed on the planet, scanning for Dionaea, and they were lucky, they immediatly saw the gestalt looking at them curiously. The ship's crew was composed of 5 members and was wearing anti-radiation hardsuits. The gestalt saw two beings coming at it, and out of curiosity, it got closer to them too. One of them grabbed the gestalt slowly, and brought it to the ship. The gestalt was handing his right tendril to the strange being, who removed his hardsuit, and decided to make physical contact with the gestalt. The gestalt immediatly learned Tau Ceti Basic, and about humans thanks to the genes sample, and started speaking to the being, who was later discovered to be a human. The human told him the crew was composed of two humans and three skrells, working as expeditionary corps, looking specifically for Dionaea. Later, the gestalt shaped itself in a humanoid Diona worker, and also learned about skrells. By having physical contact with the scientist of the crew, he immediatly also learned about the basics of science and xenobiology, and became very interested in both. The crew took other nymphs, did some research on Beautiful Starry Night, promising it to bring it to NTCC Odin. After weeks, they finally left Beautiful Starry Night at Odin, where he received free education in science, thanks to command recommendations, and got a PhD after 3 years. He declared himself ready to go work as a scientist, full of hope and curiosity, and obtained his dream job on the Aurora station. What do you like about this character? I really like this character because of it's origins, starting off a nice planet with enough nutriment to sustain the nymphs' survival and merging, also the fact that it was lucky to come in contact with a ship on it's second day on the planet, making contact with humans and skrells, and learning more about their culture, language, and science. I also like science, and want to work as a scientist in game. I have alot of hope in my character, that is highly adaptable and intelligent, also because it's an alien species. This character is very determined in learning and loves science, and wants to collaborate with the Aurora station, to offer a hand and a genius mind in the research of artifacts, building and upgrading devices and xenobiology. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I would rate it 8/10, I'm not really good at theoretically explaining what I would do in roleplaying, I'm better at just doing it, I've been roleplaying on Persistentss13 for 3 months, and also on various servers like paradise station and colonial marines. It's just a matter of time for me to get used to roleplay as a Diona worker, and trust me, I'll be good at it.

So, Dionaea workers are very intelligent beings, with an high learning potential. They learn, and adapt quickly, but they can also immediatly gain knowledge by absorbing genes samples from various creatures, therefore, my question is: Do Dionaea workers actually have a limit to how much they can learn, before they need to merge with other nymphs to become more intelligent, but react slower?
