1: For the most part, no. They have not had much experience with the eternal religion, and being rather dedicated to their desire to learn about that which has been all but forgotten, they haven't felt the need to seek it out - Of course, they do know of its existence to a degree, but have no real opinion one way or the other. 2: Synthetics, over time, they have grown to like; Not for much of a particular reason outside of the fact that they can retain knowledge for far longer periods of time than traditional species; Barring accidents or mishaps, of course. For the most part however, they don't judge a whole species as one; Due to a vote between themselves, they decided that they would judge a person, or being upon encountering them, after meeting and learning about humans in the Coalition - Some would harvest Diona, others would help them. A quick messy lesson that not everybody is the same. 3: Some megacorps they do feel are more ideal; While not due to their work ethic specifically, but by their ability to acquire information, and retain it. So for them, scientific related organizations were better (regardless of any shadiness that is rumored or anything else) - But they don't really much attention, negative or otherwise, towards the other corporations. In their minds a corporation was like a lesser attempt to mimic a Dionae. 4: It was intended for them to just so happen to be assigned to the Horizon; Their only request was to be sent somewhere that would let them learn about the past, as their obvious obsession in this app is obviously pointed towards - Of course, they likely were given a list of options to choose from eventually, and they would have chosen the Horizon; Namely for the size of the expedition in general, and the purpose of the vessel aligning with it's own desires.

I would also like to point out with this design, you are literally forced to be staying still. If you start moving, or taking off with ore moving freely on belts, its going to just get tossed off like other non-heavy objects. To add, that leaves the crew out in space if you do start doing it out there. This doesn't help the initial concern to save time so miners can actually do something other than mine, smelt, and restart the round.
-
Yeah, the mining area actually has a ton of unused space, that could be refitted to being a larger hanger port for the mining shuttle. As a mostly mining main, I would say the shuttle extension and modification would make mining far more streamlined, so that its not just flying away for 1:20, waiting for the smelting/compressing/alloying to be done for another 20, then giving the materials over at the final 20 minutes, just to go sit at the bar for the last 20 minutes which is likely either blown up, covered in blood, or in a hostage situation. It would allow miners to not miss out on more activities if its streamlined, due to helping remove time waste. It would, as he mentioned, also allow the piping systems to not be so fervently compressed. I had to modify it at one point, and managing to do that was a miracle and a half. And as for the hallway/etc area, A little bit of mapping magic would make it a bit easier to work with, but overall most of that space would just be making a new pathway access, since most of the space being modified would be used for the shuttle. The flying tic-tac honestly needs more space.

BYOND Key: Evildwells666 Primary Character Names: R.A.M (Engineering Module Primary, Science Module Secondary), Roy Stone(Operations, Mining), Jake Norwood (Science, Xenofauna/Circuits), Ed Mason(Engineering, Engineer), Lukas Morgan(Science, Weapons R&D), Rrs'var T'sanis (Operations, Shaft Miner), Szal V'kess (Operations, Machinist) Secondary Character List: Dug Jimmins (Coalition Ranger - Off-Ship Role), Saa Rs'tak (Izweski Hegemony Kataphract Knights, Knight Captain - Off Ship Role) Species you are applying to play: Diona What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Diona Exempt - Likely Darker however, due to space-born Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes, while also asking one of the loremins various questions as they came up Why do you wish to play this specific race: The Diona are a species I have been interested in for quite some time, but in truth, I never did a lot of research initially on. The idea of a species consisting of multiple entities, entirely different from any other species, has kept my intrigue. This would give me more opportunities to try different styles of roleplay. I will admit now, I don't know a good way to answer this specific section; I am a whimsical, simple man. I want to play as a Diona, to play as a Diona. I wish to enjoy them to their furthest extent, learning about their pros, and their cons as I go outside of the things that have already been mentioned on the wiki. So to be rather blunt; I want to play Diona to learn more about them mechanically, their limits, while at the same time using them to change my style of RP with a non-human species with such unique personality traits, considering a Diona is more than one personality/creature forming one larger body. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: As previously stated, Diona are incredibly different from humans in the regards that you aren't playing just one being; You can be 5, 6, 7, or more separate beings in one body. Based on the mindset one chooses, this allows the player to interact in a variety of ways, from the semi-normal speech wise for some mindsets, all the way to something a bit more vague or delayed, due to the diona needing to decide how they wish to respond. This alone makes the Diona vastly different in regards to how one interacts with others. Mechanically, the Diona are able to heal and regenerate themselves naturally, so while ill advised, it allows some situations to be played out differently with a somewhat lower risk, especially in regards to the Diona conditional pacifism; After all, if a Diona can protect another, at the cost of pain, it may be done for the sake of defense. But if someone is more suited to the position, it would be ceded to them. Of course, a Diona would try to avoid any kind of nymph death, or pain in general, since that would be a huge loss in regards to knowledge, among the many other issues involved with it. Diona players also have the unique ability, that when/if the situation calls for it, they can be in two places at once; Using a split Nymph for their needs; Though this comes at the risk of Splitting Disorder, or a fear of the risk of losing the detaching Nymph, and the knowledge it possesses. This disorder of course, varies in severity from gestalt to gestalt, with some mind types being worse than others. But, this method could be used in various manners, depending on the Diona's needs. In truth, the Diona have a basketful of mechanical, and RP related differences, which is what makes them so appealing to me. Character Name: The Chronicler of Voided Histories and Forgotten Stars Please provide a short backstory for this character: The Chronicler of Voided Histories and Forgotten Stars's origins are almost as lost to time as the history they wish to unveil. A Diona 'born' in deep space, planted on an asteroid sailing beyond the frontier with a small cluster of other Diona, long ago. By the time the asteroid entered Coalition space, They had already formed a gestalt, and their kind was not foreign. The Chronicler was lucky, ending up being found by a group of Coalition miners that were, for the most part, 'friendly', namely that their group consisting of a Unathi Guwan, a few humans, and included a Diona of their own. It was through this medium, that they were able to learn of the era's goings-on, and, this was where the The Chronicler sampled blood for the first time, taking their first glimpse into the glory that was memories, and history outside of their own encounters. The first step into an obsession, one could say. It would be many, many years before The Chronicler's name was ever decided however, originally having only the experience of traveling through the vast void; But, through a chance encounter, they encountered a scientist, studying the region. It was there, that after a bit of talking, that they were able to receive new blood; The next step, into the future. This was the stepping stone that allowed The Chronicler to push towards their new name; The knowledge only helped bolster the desire for more. The desire to know the history of life, of the void. All things forgotten in that vast void. Through this scientist, They were brought to Triesto, to the Zeng-Hu office in the Republic of Assunzione, where after weeks, if not months of interviews and discussions, that they would be brought in to the fold, hired by Zeng-Hu, under very specific, strict agreements; The most prevalent of which being that they must be chipped, and they were to work for the corporation for at least 50 years. Since The Chronicler had no experience in deals, and haggling during such a time, The deal was accepted; In return, The corporation agreed to provide the 'training' that was required, or in this case, The blood containing the knowledge that was needed for the job at hand, as well as providing the required paperwork required, before they were assigned to the SCC Horizon. The exact year of these agreements has been kept in the dark, However, this is where The Chronicler's journey once more begins, after such a long time adrift. What do you like about this character? The blatant, almost obsessive desire to learn about the past, and forgotten cultures through xenoarcheology that this character, and the nymphs themselves would have, to be blunt. This character would also be one of my first actual proper forays into Xenoarch, as its a role I have put off to an obscene degree due to my preference in other jobs. How would you rate your role-playing ability? To be blunt, this is pretty much a direct copy paste from my Unathi app, as the answer remains the same. On a scale of 1-10, I would rate it around a 6.5 at this time, but in truth it is not for me to judge. I'm critical of myself almost always on this kind of thing. The reason around this choice is because I took a hiatus from roleplay for a while, and have getting back into the saddle for it. I know there are things I need to get back into doing, like using the emote command more (Admittedly the build in action notifications cover a lot of the basics, which helped negate the need.) However, I am actively working on doing more. Notes: I will be pretty blunt. I couldn't think of a backstory this time to save my life, so I kind of winged it as I went. I am fully up for discussing this with loremins in regards to cleaning it up, But this was the rough idea I came up with to get the app out there. Mindtype: The Chronicler's mindtype is a mixture offshoot of Harmonious Hymn, and Scholarly Song. The democratic pursuit of knowledge, with every Nymph under the agreement that the desire they seek, the knowledge, must be obtained. The main difference, is that if there is no other way to obtain knowledge, they will not hesitate to consume the dead for knowledge; But this is only if there is no other means to obtain the information they seek. Otherwise, it is put to a vote, based on the Nymph's desires for the knowledge in question. - (Please note: If this character is used for antagging, it is more of Voided Vocals at that time, but only during antagging in a sort of non-canon fanfic for Diona.)

I still argue that it makes no sense not to do so as the only person ICly with flight experience during an emergency, but since its not going to change anything, you can close this topic, since headbutting a wall is pointless. ----- For future notice, Perhaps the wiki needs to be more clear as well. That leads one to believe that in an emergency, they should be able to do so, during emergencies.

BYOND Key: Evildwells666 Staff BYOND Key: Sadkermit Game ID: cn2-dmr1 Reason for complaint: During an emergency, an off duty miner, with a background and certifications for shuttle-craft piloting, took the intrepid to let the medics get out to the asteroid as nobody else could fly. Sadkermit said this is not allowed, and I am fighting this decision. Please see additional remarks for reasoning. Evidence/logs/etc: Additional remarks: Alright. To start off. This is not seeking to backhand Sadkermit. This is refuting the decision in regards to the situation at hand. Let me start off by saying this. When one is trained in piloting, They would be trained in more than just a tiny pod of a shuttle. Like I said in the round as an example: Someone trained in flying a single propeller plane, wouldn't make sense if they couldn't fly a dual propeller either. The excuse that 'The intrepid is too technologically advanced' makes no sense. The mining team has more flight time than most other departments, including some bridge crew members, and as such wouldn't have AS hard of a time flying, as say, someone who has never touched controls in their life. While mining shouldn't just be flying it willy-nilly, Why exactly would they be unable to fly it in an emergency? Its not like you are pulling hard maneuvers, and in this case, there isn't even an atmosphere to worry about. It was literally pulling out of the hanger, and landing on the asteroid. No flight otherwise. So my dispute here, is to the decision that miners cannot fly the Intrepid even during an emergency. It makes no logical sense considering they need to at least be certified in shuttle-craft piloting, and most miners that fly would also have extensive experience doing so. That would entail more than just something the size of a flying tic-tac. On that same note, considering how technology works, most vessels would have plenty of automated systems that makes flying them a bit easier. Be it stabilizers, gyroscopes, etc. So I feel its not unheard of for someone with experience to be able to fly a vessel thats bigger than their most commonly used one, to a degree. After all, The intrepid is not the size of the Horizon. I don't see why this was made a rule, unless someone did it enough for it to become a problem. Because at this time, the off-duty miners were the only option to try and save someone, and the only people with flight experience. ----- And one final note of contention; Even if a miner couldn't properly fly it, is it not an IC issue at that time? If the miner fucks up, and people die, the ship gets damaged, or any number of negatives that come out of the situation, that seems like something that would be handled in game, not OOCly.

Bunny originally posted I believe disagreeing with your statement when it was our only way out without just outright ending the antag actions in a jail cell. I'll ping him to get him to respond, I dont think he frequents the forums much. MY complaints were explicitly security related, because the actions taken were what caused everything to go down as they did. But the HoS in question admitted his wrongdoing and apologized, so I'd rather this be done. ----- Additional: I believe the post was made specifically because it seemed like you were doing an official warning based on this: and antags don't like marks on their permanent record

Thats incredibly odd, considering we didn't wear proper gloves or anything else until the final heist. As in literally seconds before disabling the turrets. There should have been fingerprints galore. Thats why finding you just breaking into the shuttle was outrageous. It was entirely out of character for you, and it forced us to take an action we would have otherwise not even done. The pen fell on the floor when I changed my bloody clothes after nearly dying, so I had to come up with some BS on the spot about the return being a one way trip. Thats why you were given a random pen (Amusingly, that was actually stolen from the investigator's desk before you arrived.) I'm pretty sure Bunny's main concern posting this is internal notes that can get people into trouble due to everything that happened. I'd rather this just be closed and done with. But thats up to the admins and Bunny. I'm just the second party responding from my side of the situation.

I will outright say the shuttle itself brought us back. The console literally lets you do it, and says doing so is a one way trip, and we saw no messages or rules saying not to go back If this is a rule, please make sure it is actually stated somewhere for this kind of role because that isn't going to be assumed since it says nothing about it, and antags cannot read minds. The method we used to return was the locker on the shuttle that was used to escape the vault. Absolutely no antag tools were used on the base for escapes, returns, or otherwise this is also the only reason we used the shuttle to escape, because we had a way back. We used it to drop the loot off after robbing, and had absolute 0 intention of going back to the base prior. The only reason we fled that way, was because the 2 slowest species in the game, unarmed, just ran into security breaking into another vessel without proper cause. If we 'tried' to run, aside from looking hilariously slow outside of an unathi's 0.5 second sprint, We'd be arrested and that ends everything. If we tried to fight, when all of our guns were on the shuttle, we'd be beaten down, and arrested. Because of this, the only option that looked viable to not end up in jail, was to get out of there, and return as we did after healing due to the depressurization. Security themselves marched us back to the shuttle. I would like to point out as well however, that no form of investigation was done on the vault. It was an immediate 'We got robbed, and theres a ship in the hanger. Rush it'. Had they properly even investigated it, they'd have us dead to rights, as anything we broke in through we didn't wear proper gloves on purpose. Another little additional note, regarding Kada. Acting captain or not, You cannot just forcibly implant 2 people with tracking implants when they have not been convicted of any crimes, when they also already had security escorts watching their every move. I checked corp regulations, and we spoke of this on the discord to see about it after the fact. I was not adding additional info due to waiting for another admin to get involved. By doing this the way you did, you already forced our hand, because it gave us no options other than escape, due to the fact that we literally JUST got to the shuttle moments earlier when security rushes us with no good reason to explain why they suspected it other than 'Shuttle we don't recognize is there'. Especially when we tried to push the narrative that it was there since the last jump, when Kada was not on duty. There was no reported deaths, no explosions, nothing that would even tell you lethal weapons, even on non lethal settings, would be required. By the time the vault was reported, it was already robbed, and nobody saw anybody leaving. Security had no reason to believe the robbery JUST happened. Theres investigative tools for that. And as a random note, That shuttle doesn't even fly normally. It cannot. It can ONLY dock outside of the Horizon, in the hanger, or on the docks. So theres literally no other method to escape and not die or get arrested other than the option we chose. ----- To summarize however, We had no intentions of returning to the base, at all, until security forced our hand by putting us in a situation that removed any other options. We had no weapons on, Heavy was a G2, I was an Unathi, and we had security surrounding us, as well as railings preventing escape On top of the fact that security, bwoinked or not, had heavy firearms and put us in a situation where we had to think on our feet, or just let the RP end in a prison. We actually planned to bribe people after the robbery, but that obviously did not work due to the events involved. The only other options would be try to fight, and get KO'd/Killed, Try to run, get arrested instantly because we are slow, or do what we did. We took the option that would let us return, because we had intended to do more afterwards. It was sheer... chance that the tele locker ended up in the Investigators office however, after the inhibitor exploded, which forced the Karen Unathi situation demanding to speak to someone from SCC.
-
My point is, you called them out AFTER the fact. As I said, I understand where you are coming from as an admin. But this post was made because of the fact that getting called out for using the only viable option that doesn't lead to a dead end doesn't sit right with me. And on a semi-off topic: Security players really need to start getting bwoinked for getting up in arms so quickly. This isn't my first antag encounter where they just get heavily armed and armored the moment something seems amiss ----- This is my last post until its picked up.
-
Exactly what narrative can be made from security rushing our ship, and preventing anything but a shootout? It was obvious that they expected a fight at the end of that encounter, and we did not give it to them. We had no intentions of leaving the Horizon after the thefts until security literally broke in. THEY marched us back, THEY broke into someone else's ship. Its a ship of stolen goods. What exactly are we meant to do? Let them arrest us, so nobody interacts with us at all? We had plans, which like all antags plans got ruined, But the fact that Kada went 'Im the acting captain, I can do what I want' ruining it is bullshit.
-
Adding my side here. We had plans to bribe people after the initial robberies, and interact like the newly rich thieves we were, But the Head of Security broke into our ship, despite us being perfectly reasonable and agreeing to let them search it. His excuse was 'Nobody told me'. He is the head of security. Does he not know how to communicate? Considering we were thieves, and not crazy nutbags, We used the teleport pins to get on the shuttle, and force a launch to escape considering the ENTIRE security department showed up. Due to the damage, the Unathi almost died, but after healing back at base, we used a teleport locker to get back to try to interact more. But to be blunt, Security should not be getting fully armed. One had a lethal shotgun, the HoS had a giant ass tranq gun, despite nobody being harmed, no injuries reported, no explosives. Are sidearms just a toy? That complaint aside, Peppermint was doing their job, I understand, But antags can't try to cause RP if security just robusts us the moment they metagame us as the criminals. Because frankly thats what I feel like was going on. Why else did they rush to the hangers knowing a shuttle would be there, despite the only info that they had being 'The vault was robbed'.

Integrated Circuits Copy Paste Option Bay Station code has this function. To explain it; It lets you copy paste a pre-designed circuit using a third function tool printed from the printer, with all of its modules, and ideally, with its wiring. This allows more complicated circuits to be designed, which for people like me, make it a lot more fun to do. I also advise, a circuit or method for the maker that allows you to 'lock' the device so it cannot be copied without the creators permission, since some circuits can be deadly, and should never see the light of day outside of researching it. ----- I will admit now, I know if a circuit nerd gets their hands on it, they can make quite a few circuits one might consider to be 'shitter'. But don't let one bad apple ruin it for everybody else. Circuits are one of the most interesting parts of science to me, and I believe others may also agree. As it currently stands, circuits are unused, and for the most part, entirely useless outside of using 3 circuits for R&D purposes. The reason for this, is that aside from very basic circuits (Flash light, Translator, and a smoke bomb which was removed in a recent PR to troubleshoot smoke issues), other circuits take too long to manually build, and wire. I do not joke when I say a complicated circuit can take over an hour to set up and wire, and sometimes even the entire round to get it set up. This is partially due to complexity, but mostly because of the UI for circuits, with any kind of lag, and the troubleshooting to make sure the circuit is properly set up. I'm suggesting we add the copy paste mechanic, so you can print out your pre-designed circuits. Just adding this function would have me being a science main again. You can ask @DahBunny; I've spent literal months designing circuits in the past. From getting an idea, to a rough proof of concept design, all the way to trial and error running designs until it was properly functional, and suitable for use. Everything from war crime circuits for antag runs, to emergency medical equipment, to even 'simple' communication networks that save the data. A ton of fun activities for the whole science department. I ask for a chance here, Because those who find circuits enjoyable likely don't bother with science now, since the thing they enjoy most is not available. I'm no coder, but maybe one enjoys science and would like to assist here. ----- Now, I know this has been likely been pushed before, but I genuinely bring this up, as after speaking to multiple circuit players on Aurora, this is the main reason they don't bother playing science any more. This could bring more science members, since you can only do so much with R&D - Seeing as Xenobotany just dies to slimes 90% of the time, and xenofauna requires specific materials to get the plant gun that lets you mutate things easier. I'm not saying there isn't things to do, but a LOT of science players enjoy actually doing R&D with circuits. But as it stands, it is not possible to do, because of the time investment for each singular circuit designed.

All good. Makes sense. 1: He likes to tinker with circuits. *(This really is a hobby of mine lol. I just wish I could copy paste the designs.), but outside of that, He tends to find enjoyment out of cleaning and studying his arms, since they are no longer natural scales. Mostly the circuits though. 2: I more or less touched on this in my last response, but he likely does face discrimination from those who are against the Aut'akh. But he doesn't view this too badly; He himself wasn't raised following his beliefs, And he does believe they just need to be enlightened. Outside of the religion issues however, he isn't viewed that badly most likely considering he tends to stick to himself. He has a goal, after all. 3: Depending on his starting position, I could see him changing roles eventually. If he starts off in Mining as an example due to needing his paperwork in order, or perhaps to get one of the degrees needed while studying off the clock, I could see him moving up, like you mentioned when reaching out. But his main goal is less about promotions, and more about trying to earn money for his goals. - As far as the commune, Moghes, and the likes, he does intend to eventually go back. But he wants to do as much as he can before doing so. 4: Overall, he isn't the biggest fan of corporates. But he does understand their use. His big dislike is working under them. Hes grown to prefer his commune's way of life. - That being said, much like above however, He will deal with it, and try to avoid making a show, since he wants to do whats best for his commune. - After all, in his eyes, they saved him, so now its his turn to help them. -
Evildwells666 - Unathi - Praise be the Scaled Ones
Syncron replied to Syncron's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
1: Initially, he found being on another world strange. The dregs around his new 'home' were also odd to him. However, while his clan was highly traditional, He was not 100% on board with that thinking. Of course, growing up around that kind of clan did push him towards those beliefs, So for the most part he did believe the aliens to be lesser, at first. Over the years it became more of a 'tolerate' mentality, since living in human space did open his eyes to the mistreatment of others, and seeing how things were done. 2: Likely Hephaestus Industries, since the Unathi do have a history with them. As for what position, I've been thinking about that. Since T'sanis does not have a traditional training in engineering, just what he learned on Moghes, and the factory, He would likely join on in whatever role he could get paid in, in this case likely on the mining crew, unless he was given a chance to do engineering. - In other words, This I am open to discussing to see which is believed to be more ideal for this character. 3: T'sanis highly disagrees with the current state of Moghes, as far as the leadership goes. I wouldn't call him a radical there however. He tried his hand at warfare, and you can see where that left him. He does understand however the differing beliefs religion wise. He himself was not an Aut'akh believer from the get go. So as far as the other groups disliking him for that, he just believes they need to be shown the way. But, he does see the bigger picture. He knows theres not much a single Unathi can do to change anything, so he is less focused on the situation on Moghes, and more interested in helping those who need it on Moghes, like those who need the prosthetics the factory provides. Extra: I would like to say though, T'sanis does intend to return to Moghes one day, it is his home, after all. But he wants to do everything in his power to help those in need, like he was helped. -
BYOND Key: Evildwells666 Primary Character Names: R.A.M (Engineering Module Primary, Science Module Secondary), Roy Stone(Cargo, Mining - Uncommonly used due to lighting issues on backend), Jake Norwood (Science, Xenofauna/Circuits), Ed Mason(Engineer), Lukas Morgan(Science, Weapon R&D) Secondary Character List: Dug Jimmins (Coalition Ranger) Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Dark Red (Somewhat darker hue than examples on Wiki), Golden Eyes Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes, for many days in fact, and I have been asking information in the lore discord for more information. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why do you wish to play this specific race: A bit of backstory; A long while back I used to play Baystation, and that is where I first learned about Unathi. While they aren't the same as Auroranathi, that is the origin of my interest. I learned while playing that role that the interactions you can receive can be vastly different than being a purely humanoid character. Innate speciesism, A sense of building a reputation and trust among your coworkers despite that. A sense of brotherhood with Fellow Unathi, and even rivalry with those who disagree with your beliefs. That was the origin that led to my interest. I believe that an Unathi will open more doors of role play for me, in both the traditional sense, and any future roles played, be it human or otherwise, normal, or antagonist. A way to view how others act with different species, how a honor bound species like the Unathi should act in a floating metal coffin in space filled with a mishmash of humans, aliens, robots, and of course, those who seek to harm others. I will not outright say 'This will overall bring more role play all around!' Because that is debatable depending on crew, the round, and the actions taken during it. However, I do think this will help me learn more about player interactions. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The Unathi are innately different from humans, in more than just appearance. As stated above, the Unathi being a typically honor-bound species would lead to a much different interaction than with a human. Where one interaction could lead to insults being thrown for one side, it could lead to a duel for another. Aside from the more obvious things, like the differences in food, or alcohol which is widely commonly known as far as the differences go, The Unathi have a differing social behavior and mannerisms that would allow one to grow with their roleplay, learning to properly respond as an Unathi would, be it staring intently at the captain to the point that they look away because its uncomfortable, even when Unathi view it as respectful. Of course, while likely misunderstood by many, It could also be pretty amusing to become good friends with a crew member, be it through canon events saving each other, to the point where headbutting and shoulder checks as a greeting become the norm. (Tell me you wouldn't laugh watching a greeting, followed up with a straight lizard headbutt between good friends.) Now, that is from a purely RP/Interactive viewpoint. Another point of note is that the Unathi, being coldblooded, means being in a cold place could be far more threatening to them than a human, while they could handle hotter areas a bit more easily; Though not likely to any extreme degree. Aside from the difference in temperature, the Unathi, even those who do not fight are more dangerous than the humans thanks to their claws, So when playing as one, you have to be careful with any aggressive acts, because if they go to far against the scaleless, it could render you as a murderer, which obviously is not a great thing, since no matter what reasoning the Unathi has for being onboard, murder can lead to many other issues, sometimes politically. A finally little statement regarding the difference is, when speaking, if the Unathi are using Ceti basic, they are likely to receive some disliking from some of the less welcoming crew members, due to the way that the superior scaled ones hiss while speaking. With the same note on speech however, with an Unathi, speech mannerisms can be vastly different, ranging from a simple change in wording, such as calling a fellow male 'Warrior', Or female 'healer', to things that will outright confuse the uninitiated with terms like slow, and fast, and variations of such things. All the while adding body movements into their speed; Such as pointing at the captain while staring at him as a challenge of dominance, or even stomping their tails on the floor to show a multitude of emotions. A small collection of differences, among the many the Unathi have. Character Name: Rrs'var T'sanis Point of Notice: Aut'akh - Even with the discriminations other Unathi may have. Backstory: Hatched around 07/27/2429 with dark red scales, T'sanis was raised in the traditional Moghean ways in the southeast side of Moghes, Around the city known as Janvir. For his first years, He was like any Unathi his age, however around the age of 9, the Contact War began. Of course, this did not play any major role in the child's life, at the time. At the time, Most of T'sanis's clan sided with the Traditionalists, and as such T'sanis was raised thinking this was the right choice, but they did not take part in the fighting, at least until the nukes began to drop. After the nukes began to drop, his clan moved westward, seeking the protection of the mountains south of what is now Bahard. By the age of 11, T'sanis was helping his family, as his father was one of the primary craftsman of the clan; Of course, T'sanis's main job was helping (struggle) to move materials and load boxes. While most of the work was repairs for the clan, other crafts were namely close quarters weapons for the Coalition. By 2445, T'sanis was 16, and like many of his fellow Unathi in the clan, He sought glory for his clan. Heading out with a small collection of Unathi as dumb as he himself was at that age, They traveled north through the mountains, seeking to meet up with the Coalition, despite not knowing the situation at the time. They did not make it far. Inadvertently, The Unathi group was caught in an explosion, believed to be from a bomber from their 'own side', Most of the group died, or was heavily injured. T'sanis was not lucky, in this encounter. The unathi lost his right arm, and while he did survive, Any hope for glory was cut short. He never returned to his clan, and instead, he was taken in by a group of Refugees, who helped him stay alive, after the incident. Time passed, and the war itself ended; He was no hero, He had no glory of which to speak. A stupid child thinking himself an adult, one who knew the basics of repairs, and construction from his father, and instead tried to be a warrior, for a fight he had no right being involved in. As the years passed, He studied from an Ex-Guild Craftsman from the Construction Coalition, learning how to do what he could with one arm. But it was around this time, Around the age of 20, That he first encountered a wandering group of Aut'akh, and their Shaman, preaching their belief to any who would listen. T'sanis was never the biggest when it came to Religion. A follower of Th'akh, but when it came to the words he heard, it was easy to fall prey to such thoughts. Could cybernetics have made him, and his brothers stronger? Would they have lived through the explosion, had their 'Vessel' been able to take the hit? These were questions that began to haunt his mind. The thoughts only help cycle in the belief that yes, what he was told was true. The Flesh was Weak. How could one's soul desire such a weak, scaled body? While these thoughts did overwhelm him, He didn't dedicate himself immediately, However he did leave his new home to travel with the group. To listen to what they said, to find a place to call home. This was how the Unathi ended up eventually getting his arm replaced, with a prosthetic, a Unathi made arm, after fulfilling a Ritual of Shards At this time however, it was merely the task to bring supplies to a shaman in the southwestern side of Moghes, who was the one to grant him his new arm. After returning to his commune, however, he was then asked to use his skills to help others, and eventually was sent to 'The Factory' through less than luxurious means. By this point, The Unathi was the age of 24, year 2453, specifically. This is where T'sanis learned the most about engineering, and maintenance. He even learned the basics of repairing the prosthetics of his fellow Unathi. He couldn't fabricate new ones, or even really modify them, But a makeshift repair to keep it functional? He could manage it, given the time. His primary job was keeping the machines up and running, to help build as many basic augments as he could for those in need, be it for the Unathi, or the dregs that lived there. As the years went on however, His views had solidified into the beliefs of the Aut'akh, over time having voluntarily opted to have his limbs replaced with machine replacements, augments to make himself stronger, To give his soul a satisfactory body in which to call it's vessel. By the year 2463, T'sanis had the thought to leave his Commune, to do what he had long since learned to hate; Work under command of another, but he had a cause. To suffer for his commune, to earn money to help them grow, and get the supplies they need, or even help bribe those that need it to get their augments and prosthetics out for those who need them. From what he knew, he matched the requirements, as long as things were worded properly, when the issue was researched; He may not have the degree being asked for, But he had worked with mechanical parts and construction for most of his life. By the year 2464, This desire came true, And by 2465, He was on the Horizon. What do you like about this character? To a degree, while some of this backstory seems cliché, I like the idea that he was like anybody entering adulthood. Stupid and thinking they know the best, which cost him his arm, his brothers in arms, for a reason that could have been avoided. The idea of T'sanis being able to fill his role, but not like it. He doesn't have to be verbal, But even if he knows the captain and command are just cogs in the wheel, they are still in charge. This leaves openings for future ideas if he is ever an antag, or even just a casual fuss if things go that far. The character gives me more ideas of things to do than a typical character, and because of that, I like the idea. How would you rate your role-playing ability? On a scale of 1-10, I would rate it around a 6.5 at this time, but in truth it is not for me to judge. I'm critical of myself almost always on this kind of thing. The reason around this choice is because I took a hiatus from roleplay for a while, and have getting back into the saddle for it. I know there are things I need to get back into doing, like using the emote command more (Admittedly the build in action notifications cover a lot of the basics, which helped negate the need.) However, I am actively working on doing more. Notes: Added a secondary character name, as I do tend to play off ship roles often pretty, as I find them to be enjoyable. That being said, since these are not saved, I have added the primary name I can be seen going by. Notes: I will add, I haven't applied for anything for years, so I apologize if this app is a bit rough. I did try to research everything as I could, but midway through the backstory I was just going, and researching years and locations mostly for accuracy, though I do not have all the details. If some of it is out of place, I can always fix it. EDIT - Bolded the sections to make it more pleasing to the eyes.
