  1. Delay isn't an issue. I think I can change it that instead of being sold to Nanotrasen, they volunteered for the TCFL. I think the only issue is that Reade is technically in Tau Ceti, so it wouldn't work? Perhaps a change to being discovered in the Metal Dunes on Mars, and then smuggled to Tau Ceti? Then, whoever was planning to sell them got taken down for illegally smuggling goods, and then Maxwell has even more reasons to love the Republic. They'd also have to change their loyalty to nanotrasen as more of an admiration, considering the relationship between the Republic's government and Nanotrasen.
  2. BYOND Key: Tomdroid Character Names: Johnathan Magni Species you are applying to play: IPC. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Ayup. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I think that the unique mindset you need to adopt to play as a synthetic character is great for roleplay. I've already played plenty of IPC on other servers, and I've enjoyed my time doing so. The way you need to react to situations, the way you must react to other people, and how you basically need to pretend to care about your co-workers ( as you have no emotions to speak of) is great in my opinion. The dynamic of freedom vs. not freedom is also pretty great, and allows for a great variation in character's opinions on the matter. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: IPCs are not perfect simulations of humans, and as a result, they have various limitations. One is the lack of emotions. An IPC needs to act according to what they believe is the way to preserve themselves at any given instance. However, since working with a psychopath isn't exactly good for morale, IPCs simulate emotions to communicate with their co-workers. This leads to the conundrum of when to prioritize being as efficient as possible, and when to prioritize being a good co-worker, as being cold and inaccessible isn't going to help you very much. IPCs usually communicate in an informative, "drawn-out" speech. Drawn out, as in they don't try to spare any information at all. Being curt is not a virtue. Character Name: Maxwell Please provide a short backstory for this character (Approximately two paragraphs): Maxwell is a baseline model IPC, found by scavengers in Reade's artificial satellites. Maxwell was non-functioning at the time of recovery, but could be repaired. Maxwell was refurbished at a facility on New Gibson, and sold to Nanotrasen shortly afterwards. Maxwell has no memory of their time prior to being hurled into Reade, and their memory seems to have been blanked prior to their disposal. Maxwell is "grateful" for their rescue, and has cooperated with the Republic of Biesel in order to maintain its existence. Maxwell is of the mind that Nanotrasen and the Republic are key to their continued survival, and as such could be considered a "patriot" of sorts. They are loyal to both entities to a fault, and have volunteered for the Foreign Legion. Maxwell is a xenoarcheologist, as they believe that aiding in the same work that "saved" them would help Nanotrasen substantially, thus ensuring the corporation's survival, and ergo, their own survival. Maxwell has no reason to leave Tau Ceti, the system being the area where their saviors are the strongest. As such, Maxwell is assigned to the NSS Aurora. What do you like about this character? I think their way of thinking and their loyalty to Nanotrasen would be a neat provider of roleplay against those who think otherwise. They wouldn't be aggressive and confrontational, but they would try to advance the interests of Nanotrasen at any given time, which could also lead to some neat antagonist motivations. Basically, Maxwell is a great co-worker, and also a slave to authority. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'd say I'm a pretty solid 8/10. I'm an admin on B12, so I know what's good roleplay, and what's not, it's my job, so I'd consider myself pretty good. I've unfortunately not played too much on this server, but I hope to amend that.
