There are a security cadet and a librarian whose names I cannot recall right now, but I will edit this with their names when I get home.
Also, I will update this with new characters that I create as I go along.
How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Played for about three months and then dropped off the face of the earth a year ago. I'm back now and have been playing since Wednesday.
Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I feel that I'm confident enough to both roleplay and handle the difficulties of being a head on the station for most roles. I don't plan on playing head every single time, but on the occasion and when it is necessary, I feel more than comfortable for the job.
Why did you come to Aurora?: I was having doubts about about Hypatia after seeing the population drop, the forum slow down, and the staff having bad reviews. I found Aurora as the next best thing and have seen it as the most enjoyable experience in SS13 for me.
Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: I have read the wiki on all of the head roles.
Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each.
Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: I think of roleplay like a theatre stage. For me, roleplay is similar to acting. If you're good at what you do with it, you can entrance and entertain an audience an give them a reason to come back and experience the show again. If you're less than stellar, people will feel that the performance is "2D" and "made of cardboard." Truly, we're simply working with characters who may or may not represent traits of our own in real-life. But the point is that you take on a different persona and use it to make an interesting scenario or life story.
What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: A head of staff is meant to guide, direct, and ultimately watch over his or her department. Heads of staff may sometimes fill in an empty role temporarily in that department, but in an ideal situation, the head of staff is there to report on employee progress, communicate with the other heads of staff, and allow that department to make the best of a shift.
What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: In general, being whitelist also carries the implication that one will uphold their responsibilities in-game and simultaneously be a rolemodel for other players. That means following the rules of the server and the station, engaging with other players, and doing what you can to provide an enjoyable experience for others. Following through with this, I would indeed do my best with role-playing and trying to make the experience engaging for everyone.
Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions.
Character name: Zechariah Dimikaelo
Character age: 22
Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs):
Zechariah Dimikaelo was born on the classic planet of Earth. Raised in a lower-middle class family in the suburbs, he graduated with excellence in high school and went through four years of education in a Jesuit university on the North American west coast. He majored in medicine and minored in computer sciences and English. After graduating, he waited half a year before deciding to take to the stars. He applied to Nanotransen as an Emergency Medical Technician on a low-profile station and was accepted. A few months later, he was transferred to the NSS Aurora and has been alternating shifts there for four months.
Dimikaelo has been struggling with mental issues for his entire life. Diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder Type II, he nearly dropped out of college after plunging into a severe depressive episode when he stopped taking medications, though he later recovered. He has attempted suicide multiple times, with one time nearly succeeding. He has suffered from insomnia for the last three years, with periods of sleeplessness coming sporadically in his earlier years. He is rather introverted and sometimes draws into reclusion for extended periods of time. For his personal accomplishments, he has written two fantasy books which have had relatively minor success on Earth. In college and high-school, he dedicated many hours to volunteer service poverty-stricken regions and with animal care.
He still has much to prove in Nanotransen, but so far, he has kept a relatively clean record and remains a high-potential medical serviceman.
What do you like about this character?: I feel like this is the character is the single one that I can relate with very well. I also like developing characters who may struggle with mental issues - again, something that I can sorta relate with.
What do you dislike about this character?: I can often get too attached to this character and either break RP or play him way too often. There's also difficulty in trying to strike a balance between portraying a reclusive, struggling individual and making the RP experience enjoyable when dealing with my part on the station.
What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: This is actually not one of the characters that I intended to pick as a head of staff. However, if I were to pick him for head of staff, he has determination and a commitment to improving constantly. He might be a little to perfectionist sometimes, but in medicine, that may be all the better for ensuring the welfare of patients.
Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions.
How would you rate your own roleplaying?: Honestly, probably an 8 out of 10. I feel that I sometimes am too dull with my RP or too excited and break the RP. It's very difficult finding a balance, but when I do find that balance, I can carry the motion of the character easily. I aim to flesh out my characters as much as possible while still committing to the upkeep of the station. I still have some things to work on, such as dialogue and interaction, but I feel like I'm getting the hang of it.
Extra notes: I realized after writing this that the character I picked to describe is not one that I intended to be a head of staff, so if you want me to pick another character to describe, I may take the time later to do that.
Thank you,
Artemis.
