So far the psychiatrist seems pretty much useless. And I play as one often enough to know. They can't know any real life saving skills like Surgery or Trauma Care. They don't fix the station. They don't take down criminals. They don't even cook food. So I was thinking, why couldn't each person, or a few random people in a percentage of the population, start out with a random debuff curable by prescription medication they can get from the psychiatrist? It would add more importance of the job. It would also be nice to see new medications in the game targeting said debuffs. And rounds would be more exciting with people committing crimes because a voice in their head told them too. Just a thought. Sorry if this came up before, I only skimmed the older topics.

Ah yes but it says nothing about the current down time. Hence me making this thread.

One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: After looking through the other races and their backgrounds, the Vaurca peeked my interest in the way their hives are diverse in so many ways that the entire species can't be put into a single stereotyped mindset or attitude. While this is true for every species, the Vaurca stood out in that they have an interesting physique, along with the way they interact with other species and their own. I also saw three species on the server in my time of playing it and Vaurca have yet to make an appearance so I thought it would be new and interesting. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The species is insectoid and mildly taller than humans. It also includes many natural defenses and weapons that humans don't possess, but also a few weaknesses humans are not akin to. The fact that the Vaurca physique is different would cause a few differences in speech, along with the way they interact with objects and take bodily harm/react to different hostile environments such as a vacuum. Character Name: Bill Za'Ka'Akiax'Morkaan Vess'ex Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Being that the Vess'ex completely adore humans of any kind, when asked to supply a security officer they happily accepted the offer to help NanoTrasen and an Unbound Warrior left the hive space, going straight to Odin central command in the Tau Ceti system. After hearing two humans speak on the way there, the warrior gladly picked up the name Bill, named after the human warrior manning the blue bucket with various weapons on it. Bill was so exited to be around the humans that he often would listen to them talk, without adding any input of his own, finding out that in doing so while several humans converse, was considered wrong. After being freed from his virtual reality world, he is awed by the new world around him, often staying quiet and observing things. He is excited to have the opportunity to use his body for what it was bred for, fighting for humanity nonetheless! In the few times he saw other species during his journey to Tau Ceti, he often thought of them as a grotesque mockery of what a creature should be and had no problem being rude and hateful to them, but found that humans tolerate these monsters so he must learn to do so as well. What do you like about this character? He has potential for ways of altering his personality with different interactions each round. He is threatening and fits the job he was given.
