BYOND Key: GrimlockCyber
Character Names: Lawrence Caladius, George Houston, Halfdan Sigurd, Lancelot King
Species you are applying to play: Vaurca
What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Either an orange or green color.
Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes.
Why do you wish to play this specific race:
Well I've always liked ants. I love how they're able to unite and work together towards a common goal. Millions of tiny little bugs working to build a massive structure to house themselves. It rather honorable. When I saw the bugmen, I asked around what they were and became fascinated by them. I begun reading into the lore and searching for more and more information about them. You could say it was love at first sight. Anyways, I want to become one of them. A big strong bugman to help the crew out and work with my fellow bugs on big projects.
Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: They're probably the most uniquely different species within this setting, in terms of gameplay styles. With a compound naming schemes and having to survive on a COMPLETELY different breathing source. This doesn't even begin to cover the LANGUAGE, which is so ridiculous and adorable. You have to sit there and decipher what even some of them are saying, playing a sort of charades. That of course being, the super valuable phoron that has lead to so much conflict within this setting. This doesn't even begin to cover the various subspecies such as, the workers who are sort of the baseliner for the Vaurca you could say. The breeders who like the queens are fertile but are far more socially competent. And of course the BULWARKS! Who I am utterly in love with, I love their big beefy arms that could carry a fridge and chuck it at someone. They're LITERALLY the backbone of their society. I love it. And its why I, myself want to play the Bulwarks first.
Character Name: Ra'Akaix'Tak'C'thur
Please provide a short backstory for this character: Ra'Akaix'Tak'C'thur was birthed into the C'thur hive within the Federation. His early years were spent being blasted with lesson on mining, pyrotechnics and Skrell culture. His batch of spawn were to serve as miners to dig out phoron for both the Federation and his hive. However, a deal that his hive had made with the Orion Express corporation would change the course of this. Instead of living his life amongst the Skrell, his peers. He would spend it amongst humans who saw him nothing more than a tool. He would attempt to speak to them and learn more about their culture but anytime he would ask they would always reply with "Get back to work, bug." To which he would of course comply, but ultimately would make him frown if he was capable of such. The Orion corporation would have him and his batch operate on dangerous and hostile worlds. From blizzard stricken wastelands to volcanic lands of iron. There he would prove himself worthy after a mining crate going up an elevator almost landed on the head of his Orion supervisor, stopped by his quick thinking and raw strength. The supervisor was more than thankful and recommended Ra'Akaix'Tak'C'thur to his collegues at the Horizon. Upon hearing this news, Ra'Akaix'Tak'C'thur was overjoyed as he had heard that many Skrell work aboard this ship. Perhaps now, he could finally work amongst them and prove his elaborate knowledge on Skrell culture to them and make many Skrell friends. He happily anticipates, counting down the days where he finally arrives aboard the Horizon.
What do you like about this character? He is sort of a weeb for Skrell culture. Seeing it as the apex of galactic culture, but only experincing it through outside media. Rarely interacting with Skrell on the day to day. He has an energetic personality but lacks the knowledge on how to articulate his words. So he may sound dumb but its just a lack of knowing how to express said words. He's loyal to his betters but quietly resents that aspect of himself, that flaw where he just lets himself be walked on despite being at least several feet taller than those around him.
How would you rate your role-playing ability? Above average. I am able to mesh well with others and know when and not to speak my turn.
Notes: Thank you for reading!
