  1. I understand. I indeed should have done that. I'm sorry for any inconvenience I've caused. It wasn't my intention to spill the phoron, because (A) I don't know what phoron is (B) I didn't know it had a harmful effect on humans. I have learned from my mistake though.
  2. BYOND Key: Freshmaniscoolman Total Ban Length: Permanent Banning staff member's Key: datberry Reason of Ban: Reason for Appeal: I had an urgent situation so I had to go. Apologies. I won't do it again. As for spilling the phoron, there was a beaker in the Chemistry Lab and I accidentally clicked on the floor while holding it.
  3. BYOND Key: Megalopeos Character Names: Ka'Viax'Ik Zo'ra Species you are applying to play: Vaurca What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Grey. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: This may seem odd, but I have a thing for biological robots, sort of like the Bound Vaurca. For pretty much all my life I have been fascinated by ants, I observe them, I read books about them, I watch documentaries about them, you name it, I've most likely done it. I was reading through the Lore page when I found the Vaurca race, the little summary excited me, I always wanted something like this in SS13, because I felt it fits it. Its page sold me on it, I knew this was the race for me. I think I am able to portray a Bound Vaurca accurately because of this. TL;DR I am fascinated with biological robots. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: For a Bound Vaurca, there is a huge difference. Humans are self-aware, they are capable of complex thought, they are capable of luxurious needs. A Bound Vaurca has no luxurious needs, it only desires what its instincts tell it to do. In danger? Run or fight back. Looking for food? Bounce around like a pinball until you find food. A Bound Vaurca does not understand complex thought, it does not understand that humans are thinking, just like it is. They do not recognize themselves in a mirror. Character Name: Ka'Viax'Ik Zo'ra Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs: Ka'Viax'Ik Zo'ra is like any other Bound Vaurca. He was birthed, he lived through the normal lifecycle of Lesser Larvae and Greater Larvae. At first glance, Ik might not seem like much, that's because he really isn't. He doesn't possess any emotions, he is devoid of self-awareness, but he is intelligent when it comes to survival. Many years of living and being enslaved led him to this supreme survival intelligence. He knows how to do DIY, he knows how to build shelter if needed, he easily adapts to planets and navigates easily using stars and constellations. When it comes to personality, there is none. He does not often speak, as he sees this as inefficient. Why speak when you could be doing something else? He only speaks when it is most needed, like when a danger approaches. If you try to communicate with Ik, he will simply walk away, most likely because he has something else to do. Ik is not bothered by racism, hatred and discrimination, simply because he does not understand this. He assumes that a person discriminating against him has a cause, beyond blind hatred. He does not hate, he does not love, he has no need for luxuries. You might not notice him, but he does things. What do you like about this character?: Well, for one, he satisfies my life-long dream of being an ant. He simply is a biological robot, something that has long been fascinating to me. How would you rate your role-playing ability?: 9.5 Notes: I understand that the Vaurca race is not yet available, but I was made aware that I could still make an application for it.

  5. I don't think it's a matter of want, it's a matter of have. While you might think that roleplaying as a stone-cold, sociopathic and devoid-of-emotion character is easy, it's actually very hard. Sometimes YOUR emotions might get in the way. You might see something ICly that offends you OOCly, and you might want to take action against that, that's the way I see it with IPCs, it's not that people want to roleplay as human-like (there are humans for that), it's just that people lack the capabilities to roleplay as such a character. Now while the example I listed above is against the rules, since it could be considered metagaming, it doesn't stop people from doing it. The way I see it, IPC applications should undertake some kind of quiz in-game, you give them situations, and you see how they react. It's time-taxing definitely, but quality over quantity.

  7. BYOND Key: Megalopeos Total Ban Length: 1 week. Banning staff member's Key: Voltagehero Reason of Ban: Hostile attitude in OOC. Called a somebody a "furfag." Stated "fuck you" over ahelps, before logging directly after this. Reason for Appeal: I apologize so much. I was having a bad day and I thought going on a server and venting out through the OOC channel was a good idea. Obviously after I have calmed down a little bit I learned that this was all a huge mistake, and before I could apologize, I found myself banned. I am sorry for the inconvenience I have caused. I am so sorry.
