[Denied]How IPCs work
RussianArmsDealer replied to Baguette's topic in Lore Canonization Applications Archive
It's a dimensional plane that can be harnessed by using quantum mumbo-jumbo mechanics and pseudoscience. It's also linked to Phoron/Plasma. -
[Denied]How IPCs work
RussianArmsDealer replied to Baguette's topic in Lore Canonization Applications Archive
They use bluespess. Literally. That's it. -
I'm going to have my say, because free speech. Yay. Roleplay is a broad term, and forcing people to stick with a: "You must act like this, this, and this" mentality limits that. It makes the rounds, for all intents and purposes, in my opinion, BORING. If someone decides to go: "I'm going to robust someone!" They should be able to go and do that, WITHIN REASON. What I mean by "Within Reason" is: If you're an engineer. You probably don't know how to use a gun. Don't try and break into the armory and robust the entire station via the stock inside it. That's powergame and simply wrong, unless, of course. You are a syndicate operative. Then there is reason for you to, perhaps, have experience with firearms and combat scenarios. Yes, roleplay should be enforced, but this is a scripted game. Forcing everyone to comply to a set way to react to a situation is not right, in my own opinion. If a syndie takes someone hostage, roleplay it out as much as possible, yes. If the security officer is held up and decides to try and risk being a hero, then so be it. Chances are, the syndie would just fill them up with lead anyways. And that's what would happen in all of your "Muh realishm!" Scenarios, in real life. If a security officer went for his tazer against a terrorist IRL, they'd probably be filled with lead and killed. That's what they get for playing hero. If they manage to take down the syndie? Good for them, they're officially a hero. This is just my opinion on the situation.

What this has to do with us is nothing of concequence - It's just fluff. I like this fluff. I like physics, and a bit of theorhetical physics on the side. Please. Give me a reason to complain about lag as a scientist. -

Ban Request - RussianArmDealer, InquisitorJohn
RussianArmsDealer replied to a topic in Ban Requests Archive
Alright. In all serious I support this ban request To a Degree. At-least for me. When it comes to Hypatia it's more technical. I'm currently banned for OOC continuation of salt and Marine copypasta. Fair's fair. What I would like to raise is that I'd like to be properly talked to with concerning things like: My "Chucklefucking", and the rest. And given ways I can not be a complete prat. When it comes to whitelist approval, in my own honest opinion this is an admin situation. Not a lore situation. Katya is a Heavy Cyborg, not an IPC. Her programming is not strictly "I'm a HAL-9000 without laws", she is effectively a human with a robotic brain casing and body. If I am wrong on this opinion. I'd greatly appreciate correction on this. I'm going to opt in on a much more laid back style when I go on aurora. Or try to. Because, in the end: Y u heff 2 be med? ( ) I also apologize for the grief I caused for you and your skrellcurity colleague. -
Ban Request - RussianArmDealer, InquisitorJohn

I support this ban request. -
Second part? Yes. IPCs are too flimsy for things that, in all honesty. Should be superior to normal, non augmented organics. Just my own humble opinion. The first part is interesting. And makes them more, as said. Robotic technicians. I like it. Except for the fact it'll ruin parts of the fun for a Roboticist.
-
You know what? Yes. BUT. Here's the issues when I think about this. 1. Do the lore writers want to go this deep into trans-humanist tendencies? I, for one. Would love to. I enjoy the idea of people augmenting their brain, body, to make it superior to the "Organic" counterpart. 2. Give me tier 3 which has EMP protection, so it doesn't. Uh. You know. BLOW UP. Other than that, yes yes yes. Gimmi.

RAD - IPC Application
RussianArmsDealer replied to RussianArmsDealer's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
The previous thing I heard was that a Man-Machine Interface could be used instead of a Posibrain. But if that is incorrect, then thank you for the info. Edit: After re-reading the lore on IPCs they can be Cyborgs - Specifically ones which house the "Seat of Consciousness", or, for my character's case, the brain. Here is the lore quote: This seems to show that the entire body is replaced with artificial components, besides the brain. Which in this case would most likely be put into an MMI (Man-Machine Interface) -

I heard that MMIs were used, but it seems that is incorrect. My character would opt in to become an Integrated Positronic Chassis. Though this action would be irreversible. -
RAD - IPC Application
RussianArmsDealer replied to RussianArmsDealer's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Of course. The IPC I'm planning to play as is a Heavy Cyborg who decided to opt in voluntarily for Cyborgization, without any proper injuries or life threatening conditions. She decided this because of her stress and depression over being "Organic" And after many weeks of thought. Decided to go for this. I would be role-playing them getting to grips with their permanent life choice and contemplating if it was fully worth it, or not. They will in all likelihood be comfortable with their choice, although of the massive impacts it has on their life. -
RAD - IPC Application

The character is one I created for purely demonstration purposes. The ideas I got from a few admins and a mentor was that it was a general character you write. So I wrote the first thing that came to mind. -
BYOND Key: RussianArmsDealer Character Names: Katyusha Andreyav, Alyssa Lee Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): N/A Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I believe that this race would be good development for characters I create, as it adds diversity to the crew and allows me to express myself creatively different each shift. This is an important factor for me as I greatly enjoy the freedom to have various jobs available for a singular character, but that character not being a Mary sue, nor some god-tier character. (Is there a difference?) The fact that IPCs can be various personalities, from a shard, to a fabricated posibrain with extremely limited emotion and "Quirks", allows me to role-play varying characters depending on the station or my current mood. Again allowing more role-play flexibility. My focus on this is a "Heavy Cyborg" IPC. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: As stated beforehand. IPCs have a differing view and psyche. Ranging from AIs that only complete menial tasks like a basic "Tool robot" to ones that have a full personality, friendships, likes, and dislikes. This allows greater adaptability to someone's role-play if they are whitelisted. And allows greater freedom when creating a character. One of the most interesting parts is the fact that they could be outfitted with data for varying jobs each shift, allowing them to fill various roles when needed, without it being completely unfair, as they would be untrained in other areas than the one focused for that shift. Other differences include the fact they can be re-wired, re-lawed, Their arms can break and have to be welded to be repaired, and their brain can be salvaged and placed inside a new shell or frame. Character Name: Sonya Amir Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs: Sonya Amir was a budding space enthusiast. She focused all her studies on spacefaring, hoping to finally leave the pathetic slum of her home, Luna. She worked pretty much daily. She was either saving the funds her father's inheritance handed her, working at the local bar, or spending the money for crash courses to hopefully accomplish her dreams. She visited the more technological areas of Luna for her courses. And was subject to taunts, bullying, and harassment for her slum upbringing. But this did not bring her down. Her escapades soon fell onto ears of Hephaestus Industries, a local recruitment center found her for her efforts and offered her an apprenticeship with the Industrial divison aboard a large cargo vessel if she completed her courses on engineering and maintenance. They also supplied her with some money; a small amount. But enough for her to feel safer with her educational situation. From then on she worked. Worked hard. Desperate to prove that she can do it. Anyone can escape slums, or poverty, or depression. After the long trials and tribulations of this journey, she managed to succeed. She got the apprenticeship aboard the HCV (Hephaestus Cargo Vessel) Nile. From then on she worked hard on the ship when she finally left port. Beginning her journey as an engineer. She continued this job for three years, until she was of age 27. Where she was offered a position as a full-time engineer on one of Hephaestus' shared mega-structures orbiting Earth and Sol. So big that they literally "Dwarf cities", and produce countless items and machines. She turned it down. Life near Sol wasn't for her. She needed something more. Adventure. Challenge. Something to make her feel like she could work towards it. As she contemplated her next step on Luna, she found an advertisement for an open Engineering job on-board the NCV Archimedes. She jumped at the opportunity. Filing her request form to the recruitment services with her Background and record. Now all she had to do was wait. A few days past, and she waited patiently, drinking glorious space cola and nibbling on various unhealthy snacks before she got the confirmation. Overjoyed, she set off to City she was residing in's space port. And took a trip to the NSS Baldr. The adventure she has been waiting for has finally came. What do you like about this character? She's resilient. She had to deal with short-comings and problems but kept going. Focusing on her dream. And in the end, it paid off. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Ehhhhh. I honestly don't know. 6? Notes: I'm 18 and female, metallic persimmons
