  1. Byond key:Vaemar Character names:Adam Anderson (Human Warden), Mekhi Joghs (Human Security Officer), Mikhail Mikhailov Mikhailovich (Human Bartender), and Bob Carter (Human Quartermaster) What times are you available? In GMT:(PST) 3:00pm - 8:00pm on weekdays, random times (generally 10:00am-8:00pm) Do you have any experience with Moderating? Or similar.Yes, I used to be a moderator on an old /tg/station, and I used to be the head admin at a star wars rp board. I was for a little bit an admin on a HL2RP server(but that was horrid) Why do you want to be a Duty Officer?I have been playing SS13 for four years, and other than moderating that old /tg/station, I never really got too attached to any one server. Right now, I mostly play paradise and colonial marines, but aurora is becoming as server I go on a lot more often. I have been also getting into the lore recently, liking what I find, and wanting to do more things involving it. It'll really give me a reason to come here more often. How well can you handle stress?Good but not very good, I can handle multiple things at the same time but I don't like it when people are yelling at me to speed up or something. Helpful instruction with me always works. What does it mean to be a Duty Officer? If you wonder who gets that picture of your butt you faxed to centcomm, its these guys. ICly, duty officers are told information/guidelines by the admins 'spiders are going to kill the station, and there is no shuttle'. Your task as a duty officer is to come up with a good, well-written, lore accurate explanation of why that is happening. You have to be able to tell a story even while constricted by guidelines. How active on the forums and server are you?I am a forumer. I always have this tab open and regularly check it, same with all of my other forums. Anything else to add?I like cake, not a pie person unless it is strawberry-cream pie.
  2. Story is good and the spriting is good too. Adds history to the character and I think it would stir up conversation about where he got a god damn golden zippo from. +1
  3. BYOND key:Vaemar Character names:Adam Anderson (Human Warden), Mekhi Joghs (Human Security Officer), Mikhail Mikhailov Mikhailovich (Human Bartender), and Bob Carter (Human Quartermaster) How long have you been playing on Aurora?:Around 1 year, but I was barely on for about 4 of those months. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?:I'm a big fan of the head of staff roles on Space Station 13, regularly playing Captain, HoS, and Research Director on other stations. Why did you come to Aurora?:I heard about it in ghostchat on paradise, thought I'd give it a try, and really like the community. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?:Yes, I've read the articles. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about:Roleplaying is, well, playing the role of something on any imagined plane. In space station 13, the imagined plane is a space station and the roleplay is people playing the role of engineer, or doctor on that station. It requires you to build your own character, like playing god, making him or her different from you. If you make a character that is just like you, you aren't really roleplaying, you're just applying your own self and thats just playing. Roleplaying requires (I think) a lot of practice in the field, you have to be dedicated to playing the character you have built, even if something that character does is something you hate or despise in real life. For example, you really dislike fish IRL. Your character's race's favorite food is fish, that posts a problem. It should make it easy for you to have your character eat the fish, as you aren't actually eating it. What if you have had past experiences (bad ones) with alcohol, and you wish to stay away from it IRL? If you make a character that is an alcoholic, if every round you bail out saying you 'quit' or that you've 'found god', sure you could do that once. But overusing it is just you going against the character you spent so long creating. You also have to be social, being able to understand other human beings and yourself. Without the proper understanding of pain and feelings, you will never get a true connection between you and your character. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?:Although most space station 13 communities can semi-drive forward a game, the Heads of Staff really swing the bat and keep the game moving. The RD makes sure the research department aren't drinking or slacking off. The Chief Engineer makes sure the engineering department gets the engine up and running. The CMO makes sure the medbay is making medicine and keeping people alive. The HoP makes sure that cargo, botany, and the other civilian fields aboard the station aren't causing chaos and keeping them on their job. The HoS makes sure that security officers are patrolling the station and keeping the peace, also making sure the warden doesn't crank open the armory on code green. Basically, they ICly make sure people follow server rules and station laws (or if they are traitors, misguide the station into doom and destruction). What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?:I think whitelisted players should serve as an example to other players, pushing forward the game and promoting the community as one of those specialists in their department. While you shouldn't really suck up to whitelisted players(what's the point?), it doesn't hurt to learn from them. I learned how to play ss13 from some whitelisted players on other servers (such as Captains, RDs, and CMOs), and I think It would be great to introduce ss13 to others and teach them how to play. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name:Adam Anderson Character age:55 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs):Born on Earth to a poor family, Anderson had a very rough childhood. He was lucky to have good parents, who sent him to school with all of the money they earned and served as an example to him. However, by the time he was a freshman in highschool, he started to drift and hangout with the less savory elements of the students, who introduced him to the back alleys of where he lived, the harsh reality of poverty. Thievery, drug dens, gangs, all on the same block that he lived, things he never knew about. He joined the largest gang in the area, Jill's Gutters, and quickly became one of the best thieves of the gang. Eventually, realizing how far down he had sunk, and seeing crime and drugs for himself, he left and returned to focus on his studies. He applied for a scholarship at the largest military academy around, but was denied. However, somebody else had gotten his application and took great interest in him. This man, a nanotrasen rep on Earth, offered him a scholarship to go to Nanotrasen's exclusive security academy. He accepted, and proceeded to get his criminal forensics degree, security officers degree, and his prisoner management degree. His cadetship seemed to go by like a flash, even though it was a year, and when he finished his cadetship at the age of 24 he was off to several different stations around the tau ceti area. He was known to be an experienced officer and upholder of the law, and by age 26 he was appointed as Brig Warden to prospector station, a station in the tau ceti region that was a hub of trading and mining owned and operated by nanotrasen. He stayed there for eight years, ranking up a total of 10 years under nanotrasen and was fully ready and prepared to tackle his next assignment after a major 'accident' ended with the station being severely damaged and evacuated. That next assignment was aurora station. He was appointed Head of Security, and proved to be a good man in that position. He served for many years, saving the station from itself. As time went on however, he found himself growing more and more distant from himself. He'd sleep on the job, forget about prisoners. This man, who won the must robust man award in Tau Ceti Multiple times, had done a u-turn in the wrong direction. He resigned and took some leave time, in order to find himself. He was gone for approximately 4 years, visiting family and friends, who all encouraged him to return to his line of work. So he did. Although he had all the other requirements met, he had one task. He had to pass his Pass NanoTrasen Upper-Management Aptitude Test, to make sure he was ready for the role. That was the only thing he had, his age had made him weaker and he certainly wasn't as robust as he was in previous days. What do you like about this character?:He's tough, funny, serious, and a hard worker. He has built so much from so little, and is happy with his life (up until he resigned). What do you dislike about this character?:He's kind of a douche to people he dislikes. He never lets it get in the way of his work, but he can be a pretty big asshole to people. It was also hard for me to make him, took me like 2 weeks to get everything straight. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?:He has a lot of experience in management and has always treated people fairly. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?:I think that although I have extensive experience in roleplay(been doing it longer then I have been alive), I still am lacking in ss13 specific areas like mechanics and what not (the learning curve is harder than eve online, every once and a while I do something I don't mean to). I think when it comes to raw roleplay, I am a good 8.1/10, but when it comes to ss13 7.6/10 Extra notes:I am starting to notice that there are very few people who actually play heads, resulting in the game being a bit more boring. Also, if the whole my character was a head before thing is against the rules, let me know and I'll remove that stuff. I also didn't know if I should include ALL my characters, or just the characters I made for this specific station, so I included characters made for this specific station.
