FargothUr911
BYOND Key: FargothUr911 Character Names: Kevin Grayham Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Dark green Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I think it would be really interesting to play as a race with difference in culture, reputation, societal norms and behaviours, and try to experiment with said race by trying to have them integrate on a station filled with people who adopt entirely different outlooks on the world, wether the Unathi would disagree with these views, or find a compromise between them depending on their personality, in the end, they will have to get along with their crew and realise that they have to adapt, or get out. This is especially apparent in their history, as shown in the Contact War. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Their reputation of being slavers and raiders can be grounds to be skeptical of the Unathi, or dislike depending on the person you are dealing with, not only that, but, the mannerisms that the Unathi adopt are different from the Humans, for example. a Human that is furious would have furrowed brows with a glare in their eyes and a slight frown on their face, where as the Unathi would express their anger (or heightened emotions) by thumping their tails into the ground, these, and many other cues of the Unathi might be lost in translation by other species, possibly resulting in complete misunderstandings that can lead to bad situations depending on the personality of the people. They are also bound by a code of honor, meaning they would rather use their close combat skills than use ranged weapons, they can do it, but it would greatly hurt their pride if they were to do so. Also, they have to speak with multiple s's, but everyone knows that already. Character Name: Jakul Gakanum Please provide a short backstory for this character: Jakul lived in a small village in the Moghes, overwhelming majority of the people living there being peasants, working for their local guilds. The village is located at the edge of the Moghresian Sea, approximately located in the center between the two cities of Imas'hi and S'th. Jakul's family would make large farms for agriculture, but on the side, they specialised in selling medication, applying said medication, or very rarily, preforming surgery in a very crude manner, using makeshift tools as to preform onto those of their own villages, or wanderers who had gotten out of a battle wounded, some being too prideful to accept help, and others begrudgingly doing so, having to agree to losing their money or agree that they owe money. Jakul would live his life like this, his education coming from a village shaman's teachings instead of a formal school, he would also learn more about his family's side profession, using plants, fabrics and what ever they could scrounge from nature as to save money, but to also provide adequate services, of course, the improvised medicines paled in comparison to modern medicines. Jakul's family had been desperately saving money, planning to get their sons into proper areas of education. Learning of this, Jakul would grow even more determined to continue his family profession, hoping to make his parents proud of him, trying his hardest to show everyone all of the skills he learned from his parents. Many years later, his parents saved up just enough money to pay for a tuition for him, sending him off to Skalamar University Of Medicine to earn himself a proper education, Jakul excitedly agreed, his tail thumping the ground as he walked out the door. leaving his family as he travelled on a long journey, moving from the village to Imas'hi, all the way to Skalamar, temporarily settiling there while he was being educated, When he became a student of the university, he heard about the financial aid that NanoTrasen offers Unathi students, being offered this himself, he instantly agreed to it, not caring about the condition of being employed by them as he would begin to recieve a generous amount of money, sharing most of it with his parents as he would spend his years being educated, while also allowing himself to be employed by NanoTrasen to work in the medical field. What do you like about this character? The naivety that he shows when he accepts the financial aid of NT, letting the idea of the money he is making, and his aspirations of becoming a doctor override his senses of skepticism as he did not care about the conditions of the financial aid, he is also an enthusiastic character that is willing to do things that earns him the respect of his peers. How would you rate your role-playing ability?: I have played plenty of roleplay servers, so I would say fairly above average, always room for improvement I feel. Notes: First time I planned a backstory, not really something I do and I feel I could improve on it. Edited August 20, 2019 by Marlon Phoenix Link to comment
Guest Marlon Phoenix
Hello! Sorry for the late reply. Your application is pretty solid, and I like the path Jakul took that lead him to the Aurora. It will be interesting to see how his traditional teachings mesh with how alien and different Tau Ceti is. Application accepted. Link to comment
