SampleTex
BYOND Key: SimontheMiner Character Names: Nikit Vasili, Taps, B.I.R.D, Tamir Hanar, Hashim Pruzzhulkanich Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Black Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Of course, I wouldn't apply otherwise Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: My interactions with Unathi have usually been pretty interesting. First names being reserved for family and close friends, while rather simple, has a rather significant impact when it comes to interacting with new characters. After also reading the lore about the contact war, along with the lore on the Kataphracts, I got to thinking about the potential for interesting characters that would be both fun to play and fun to interact with. The lore overall for the Unathi is interesting, and the wastelands continuing to take more of the untouched lands means more and more unathi might find themselves off Moghes and it's feudalistic government. An honor driven race finding itself working for a less than honorable company is an interesting avenue for me to explore. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: As stated above, they will only refer to others using the person's last name unless they are family or a close friend whos been given expressed permission. While more stylistic, they usually will say "is not" or "can not" instead of something like "isn't" or "can't." There is also the hissing when speaking Tau Ceti Basic, extending s or even making an X sound different than if a human were to say the same phrase. Being cold blooded reptiles, they can't handle the cold very well, but are slightly more tolerant of the heat (although excessive heat can cause them to feel sluggish and tired), as well as often performing things like running in quick bursts, being incredibly fast but not able to run for very long at all. Their carnivorous biology also makes them unable to get any form of nutrition from plants, using it only to make their meat based meals look nicer. Character Name: Ra'mit Ma'zaira Please provide a short backstory for this character: Ra'mit Ma'zaira is a 22 year old paramedic born in the city of Skalamar on Moghes. Growing up during the last 7 years of the contact war, Ma'zaira was made aware of the fighting against the Traditionalist Collation "brutes," aware that they used non direct combat to fight. Enough propaganda got to Ma'zaira who wanted to be a soldier while he was growing up, but being a child he was never able to actually go out and fight. He did everything he could as a child, living by the honor code. In school he gained a reputation for being a very honest and hard working student, while also being known to speak what was on his mind, regardless of what others might think. This resulted in them being a child that either got along well with others, or was disliked for their brutal honesty. Once the war was over this dream of being a hero never faded, and instead shifted over towards becoming a Kataphract, . He discovered he had a knack for thinking on his feet and an interest in medicine during his teenage years. He spent most of his free time either training to be able to fight, or studying medicine and science, with the remaining free time being spent either with friends or helping out the clan leader. Once he was old enough, he went to school to become a paramedic and continued his training. Eventually he made his intentions of becoming a Kataphract officially known and was sent out to stay in Tau Ceti for a few years to prove that he will stick to the code of honor and hopefully return home as a Saa’Izweski. What do you like about this character? The whole idea of sending a Kataphract-Hopeful to work for a company like Nanotrasen, which has surely had less honorable situations, is something I'd love to try out. Seeing if Ma'zaira can actually adhere to the code of honor for a few years while working for this company would be a great test for the prospective warrior, and working as a paramedic would only enhance his abilities to help protect the injured and weak. A good Kataphract is able to do more than just fight their way to victory, but also able to talk and work their way to it as well. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'd give myself a solid 8.5/10. I can type decently fast, always stay in character, and can play vastly different characters from one round to the next without any drop in quality (say a quiet tajaran one round and then a very social IPC the next). I can play heads of staff and have 3 other xeno whitelists, so I'm sure that also counts for something. Edited August 20, 2019 by Marlon Phoenix Link to comment
