Overview of the Incident: The shift began as any other, with the Xenoarcheology and Anomalies department preparing for a foray to an asteroid aboard the Intrepid. Preparations were partially complete, when Malcolm McGulby came down to inform us that he would not allow us to leave without medical personnel present. This was questioned by staff present (I and Alekseev,) and I went so far as to bring it up to Folliero as a potential misstep and overextension of authority.

Preparations continued regardless, and we obtained a first responder by the name of Ostroverkhov Urvan. Captain Castel reportedly requested a crew list of those participating. By now, this consists of myself, Ostroverkhov Urvan, Khadija Alekseev, Taeko Mori, and STR-0-1. This is relayed by Taeko Mori to Captain Castel. Shortly thereafter, Taeko Mori informs us that the Executive Officer has ordered us to hold everything, and ordered mining to return. A brief argument follows between us. We are shortly thereafter informed that the Intrepid is being used instead for a repair mission and we are to vacate it. We request an alternative if we are going to be vacated, and Folliero arrives to inform that he is attempting to obtain an alternative, and we will be relocating to the mining shuttle. Malcolm McGulby directly contradicts this, telling us that all activity is to be cancelled and we may not do so.

Upon the mining shuttle's return quite some time later, I gather Rey Zarzamora and STR-0-1 and come to Operations to request that we are allowed to depart with the miners on their next foray. McGulby informs us that this will not be possible, but that he wishes it was and the Captain orders have bound him. Shortly thereafter, Folliero and Lyu Vek reportedly negotiate our access to the mining shuttle, and we hastily prepare to depart with mining before any further adjustments are made. McGulby remarks that it took great effort to convince the Captain to reverse the policy before we depart.

Upon my own return, Folliero contacts me and displays to me the following transcripts. The timestamped messages indicate the space between the Captain stating we may 'commence whatever [we] wish on it' and only half an hour later McGulby noting the policy being apparently finally overturned.

The transcripts themselves display an extreme lack of care for the work of an entire department, in this instance consisting of at least four crewmen. The Captain describes it by dismissively saying "I'm sorry Science is in a tuff. They can deal with it." and remarking that artifacts, apparently, do not bring in credits. Strelitz argues that we were "willing to do anything to get [ourselves] some adventure to commence with. Especally taking advantage of a chaotic sudden change of events to pressure someone into accidentally approving their venture." This characterization broadly seems like a terrible interpretation of good-faith efforts of a department to continue their operations as usual, rather than idle on company time.
