La Villa Strangiato
Ckey/BYOND Username: lavillastrangiato Position Being Applied For: Wiki maintainer Have you read the Lore Team Rules and Regulations wiki page?: Yes. Past Experiences/Knowledge: I've written for a few wikis before, but I wrote fairly extensively for Baystation's wiki before it blew up and was transported to its current URL. I edit the written works of my friends often, and I have informal experience as a proofreader. I also used to write a lot of gameplay guides on Baystation 12, though not all of them are published. Examples of Past Work: I'm not sure if these count, given that they aren't credited to me, but these guides for the Chief Medical Officer and Pharmacist in particular are more or less unchanged from how they were when I originally wrote them back in 2020. Additional Comments: If accepted, I would probably start a grand crusade against the gameplay guide articles, particularly engineering, given that they are very outdated and unhelpful! I'd also be interested in creating a style guide (a la Wikipedia) to standardise the general feel and how the wiki reads, but that will probably come later. Link to comment
Sneakyranger
Thanks for offering to pitch in. I don't handle the final acceptance of these applications, but I do have a few simple things I'd like to talk about here: 1. By the gameplay guide articles, do you mean e.g the Guide to Medicine, Xenobiology, etcetera or the job pages proper? 2. We've had a big issue in the past with people going ghost on the wiki maint team. Periods of inactivity are fine - it's a much more lax environment than the other staff sections - but now that I've been made senior janitor maintainer we will expect at least the bare minimum, that being a notification of low activity and a rough timeframe idea. Not to say I foresee it being an issue here, of course, but I did want to let you (and everybody else) know from the very beginning that if your activity starts winding down then that's fine, but you need to tell us. This is the most important thing of the points I have. 3. I don't think it's been posted publicly, but we have an internal document that's much more helpful than the current regulation page. I imagine it's going to become more binding soon, so just a heads up on that. There's nothing too drastically different from my #2 point, though there are a few procedure changes that may or may not make it in (e.g requiring senior wikiman permission to create a brand new page). That's most of what I wanted to talk about to you directly. Other than that, I support the application. Link to comment

I find the job pages can be a truncated "here's what you're expected to do, and linked here is the guide for how to do it", etc. The rest is all well and understood. thx for support sneky ❤️ Link to comment
