(Mars Lore)Revision to the “The Solarian Army’s Reunification Campaign”

Recommended Posts

Lore Impact (Small/Medium/Large): Small

Species: Human

Short Description: A revision on the “The Solarian Army’s Reunification Campaign” section of the Mars wiki-page that clears up some vagueness of the factions that fought within the campaign.

How will this be reflected on-station?: I wished to spark the imagination of future Martian characters who have departed the red planet after 2464. Whether they wanted to play a fleeing secessionist, gang member, outlaw, etc. who came from the Moderate Hazard Zone or one of the millions of citizens from the sixteen arcologies located above the MHZ now under Solarian control.

Does this addition do anything not achieved by what already exists?: Yes, I believe it clears up some of the vagueness of the Reunification Campaign’s wiki entry by adding from parts in the Reunification articles posted last year, and adds an extra line on the state of the Arcologies below the ‘No-Hazard’ Zone.

Do you understand that the project may change over time in ways you may not foresee once it is handed over to the Lore Team?
Absolutely, and I am 100% open for edits or otherwise, denial, here. There has been some confusion among a few other players who I’ve talked to about the Reunification campaign and anything to clear that up so that the wiki may reflect it, is my goal here. I hope you guys both see that and enjoy this revision : )

Long Description:
Originally a debate between another player in d-chat and me, I have brought this up in the Human-General channel of the Lore Discord, where NewOriginalSchwann answered my questions diligently. Schwann explained the variety of forces that the Solarians would likely have faced during the two-month Reunification Campaign. I have talked to another Mars fan and there was some confusion as well. I wished to do my best to keep the original entry’s short and summarized nature while ensuring it covers enough ground that future characters and even current ones can build off of it. Having a more clear and current image of Mars is something I’ve wanted for a bit and although this entry I want edited is a year old I believe it completes its goal without stepping on anyone’s toes or writing a news-article(which I don’t think I’m allowed to do though I’m unsure but would totally support), and keeps the current Mars lore at a cliffhanger of ‘what happens next’. Anyways, here it is, my revision of the 2464 Solarian Reunification Campaign on Mars:

At the start of May 2464, Solarian armed forces under the command of Governor-General Tereza Varzieva launched an effort to “stabilize the planet and restore order to regions outside of the Violet Dawn hazard zone”, thus effectively bringing Mars back under Solarian control. The Governor-General’s offensive against the various warring factions of criminal gangs, bandits, supply raiders, secessionist forces and various other paramilitary or criminal forces, was ultimately successful and the sections of Mars outside of the government’s control mostly surrendered or were otherwise seized by force within two months, concluding at the tail end of June. Arcologies within the Moderate Hazard zone still face extremely difficult circumstances, from environmental hazards, supply shortages, starvation, unrest, and violence. There has been little talk on the future of these arcologies in the Moderate Hazard Zone from the Solarian forces in the wake of the campaign, and as for now there is a line between civilization and lawlessness on Mars. However, with control and relative stability has brought Einstein Engines and other Solarian companies into the planet’s economy in an attempt to bring relief and assistance to the planet of Mars and its inhabitants, this has sparked hope that Mars, against all odds, could have a future once again.

I have a bunch of notes elaborating the mindset and ideas I drew from, regarding each of the changes or additions in this entry.
