Mainly the "IPCs and Megacorporations" page. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. Why do you wish to play this species?: I wish for an IPC whitelist to primarily play as corporate owned/newly constructed IPCs, as their differences from humans allow me to explore multiple unique and varied roleplay opportunities whilst giving me a platform to express my shorthand knowledge on megacorps. I could achieve a very similar effect by playing a station-bound robot however, I am applying for this whitelist to create more permanent and varied characters. I aim to write characters that grow and evolve pertaining to the current situation they find themselves in, I believe this would be easiest to do as a freshly constructed IPC. What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: Depending on what you, as a writer feel like, playing an IPC can be as little or the most different to playing a human, this is because of the immense variety of IPC backgrounds: From a machine constructed to act as a replacement cog to an indisputably complex chassis near indistinguishable from a human, you can portray an IPC in almost any situation, they are constructed to play the role you want them to play, given you follow the rulings. Whilst all IPCs are inherently intelligent, not all are as intuitive as a human in the same position, not being able to pick up on the subtle cues that other humanoids inject into work, however, IPCs learn and evolve dependent on the situation they're in and given the time will acclimate to the work climate they've been placed in, this can happen naturally throughout persistent gameplay and has a much more noticeable change on the way freshly constructed chassis act as compared to a human. Alternatively you could play as a comparatively ancient IPC who has experienced much more, becoming a sleeve for their influences to further endure life with distinct flavour of their accumulated history and experiences. ------------------------------ Character Application Character Name: Mo-Da#HeIn.331 Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon. Mo-Da is a Hephaestus G2 Industrial Model commissioned and implemented by Hephaestus Industries aboard the SCCV Horizon as a Shaft Miner, it was manufactured aboard the HPS Amoni sometime late 2465 with the express purpose of being transferred to the Horizon as soon as possible. Being created to fill a mostly non-complex role, Mo-Da was imprinted on a lower end positronic unit and fed the most basic of datapacks to reduce production costs as much as possible - costing an approximate 342,000 credits, not including shipping to the Horizon; it is forcasted to earn over double its production cost during application aboard the Horizon. After the datapacks had finished being imprinted in Mo-Da's positronic, it was finally able grasp the fundamentals of why it was created and its purpose as it went through physical acclimation in preparation for the use case it was created for, after a short time, relative to Mo-Da's passing grade, it was ferried to a ship en-route to Ouerea. Though many chances presented themselves, Mo-Da did not interact with people it did not need to on its way to the Horizon reflecting the choices made regarding positronic and datapacks during Mo-Da's construction, it usually defaulting to short, courteous answers to the questions it was given, this is not expected to change during its application. How has the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? Events such as the Phoron Scarcity, the Solarian Collapse or even the Invasions of Biesel for interstellar-wide affairs, while region-specific events such as the Peacekeeper Mandate, The Titan Rises or even Cold Dawn may impact your character. As Mo-Da was created by Hephaestus with the purpose of helping rectify the issue of Phoron Scarcity, it was imprinted with some basic background history regarding both the mineral and the recent acquisitions of former Hegemonic Guilds. Mo-Da has been programmed to prioritize the harvesting and processing of Phoron for either immediate use on the Horizon or stowage for the next port visit. Regarding the absorption of Hegemonic Guilds, Mo-Da has been taught the very basics of how to not come off as insulting towards the non-human co-workers it may commonly be accompanied by, no more than a general understanding of these peoples was considered when installing the datapacks however. How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? Mo-Da, being a low-minded industrial IPC fresh off the line has little regard for if Hephaestus Industries is "good" however, like many other units incorporated in Hephaestus' corporate ladder; understands that it must work harder than its organic counterparts due to the significant physical advantage it possess over them, it complies with this expectation as it knows nothing else. Due to Hephaestus Industries covering the maintenance cost of owned IPCs via Manufacturer Agents, Mo-Da has also been informed that hard, productive work is rewarded with continued servicing and although it doesn't yet wholly understand how important this maintenance is, still strives to be a productive worker. 1
Noble Row Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 Could you expand upon Mo's personality a bit, and how processing new information/new cultures effects or has effected them? What are their personal likes and dislikes? Simple pleasures? Do they have or had any friends? While it's okay to play simpler off-the-shelf IPCs, you are applying for an entire race and not just the one character so we're trying to see your understanding of all aspects.

Mo-Da is wholly task-focused, not too dissimilar from a viax or a station-bound, viewing itself as a tool or an implement to get a job done, below anybody else. Initially it will not interact with anybody it does not need to relegating its interactions to the people it works with often including but not limited to, the dregs of humanity, hardworking Unathi and purpose built bulwark bioforms and while it doesn't yet understand fully how different these species are, it recognizes that they are somehow less humanoid than itself. Mo-Da has not been around long enough to truly 'dislike' something or make friends however, it finds pleasure in simple routine and may be able to connect with others that also follow routine, as stated earlier Mo-Da is task-focused, preferring to Work > Clean Workspace > Prepare Workspace > Idle - the closest Mo-Da gets to disliking something is if it gets this routine disrupted or is left to idle for too long, this can be easily alleviated by giving it a new yet familiar task.
Noble Row Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 So while you can play a character like that and that's all well and good, for the whitelist we do require a character that is a bit more nuanced that can effectively express understanding of the themes and standards we are trying to set for the race as a whole. Remember you aren't applying for a character, you're applying for the entire race, so it is essential that we know you understand the themes that effect the entire race. So all in all while the character itself is allowed and they're a good character, just for the purpose of this application we need something deeper than just a simple IPC. For now I will be denying this application but you are free to reapply at no delay with a character more nuanced. Try to shoot for something with more experience who has been effected by the world so you can show your understanding better on how an IPC specifically would behave with the world around them. And then after that you can make Mo-Da. Denied for now.
