SmileyDemon Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 BYOND Key:Smileydemon Character Names: Anima, Phobos,Veronica Torren How long have you been playing on Aurora: 3 months Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character): Black Have you read our lore section's page on this species?:Yes Why do you wish to play this specific race I've always been interested in this species, because in all respects theirs is the most tragic. I could see this species facing a culture death as more and more of them leave their homeworld. To roleplay a character of this species on their darkest chapters of history is exactly what I've been looking for. The tear between tradition and survival, an interesting juxtaposition. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:I would imagine Unathi to have a more worldly view of things than humans considering the hardships that they have faced. Excess and pure capitalism would be a relative unknown at best and insulting at worst in my opinion. Character Name:Cetta Erandi Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs The dust picks up and I tug the elastic of my gasmask tight. The wind gusts in strokes and I stumble, but I catch myself quickly, my tail counterbalancing me so I spill not a drop of my precious cargo. My goggles help little and the dust irritates my eyes, but even if they did help I could not see my snout in front of my face.”10 meters to go.”I think to myself, putting one foot in front of the other until I could see my house. Dust whipped its metal sides with audible clinks. I could see my mother at the door, her gasmask instantly recognizable. She pulls up the heavy cloth we drapped across the front entrance to our home, ushering me in as a billow of dust waffs after my coattails. I move my jug in front of me and head down inside with my mother close behind me, having closed the door. Down below I set the jug down and remove my gasmask.Breathing freely, I dust myself off as my mother does the same in front of the stairwell. “Is brothe-?” I begin before being interrupted by my mother; “Hes not well Cetta.” She says as she grabbed a bucket and unscrewed the stopper cap upon the container of water I lugged here. Once it was off she filled the bucket to its brim and set off further into the house. I sigh and remove my gloves, looking to the far left wall of the room. There, in thick green trunks the Velo grows and churns the dust of its surroundings into dirt. My thoughts linger to those who reside as part of the dirt now, my father, my two younger brothers. “There are no warriors anymore.” I whisper to myself, ashamed, as if the ashes of my dead relatives could still hear me. Turning away from these ghosts I move out of the dust room to the interior of our home. I could smell incense and hear frantic chanting from the doorway, and peering in I saw my oldest brother, the last ‘warrior’ of our clan wasting away as my mother soaked a towel and cooled his forehead. He was unconscious now, a small blessing since the nights prior it was impossible to sleep with the moans of his pain. I move past my mother and head over to a mantle on the far wall. Taking my arm I swooped some dust off the surface of a Device I had stolen. Its top was emblazoned with the logo NanoTrasen but I did not know what it ment. More importantly I flipped a switch and the front panel spurted to life. Text appeared in faint green lighting, saying ‘Health Scanner”. I picked up the device with a snort and pointed it towards my unconscious sibling. A cross-sectioned light blared forth, scanning him, but oddly the machine provided no results. I began to hit the piece of junk, not noticing that my mother had stopped her chanting. “Hes dead.” she said solemnly. I threw the device at the wall in blind hatred, and slammed my tail on the ground behind me, but I stopped when I realized that my mother was....smiling. “ You always liked to play with your brothers when you were little, but...” she paused for a moment and looked me straight in the eye.”You don’t need to die with them. You’re too smart for this place Cetta. Too smart for this...radioactive hell.” She reaches into her rough spun robes and produces a hefty pouch. “ This is all the money your father saved, I want you to take it and leave this place.” She got up slowly and made her way towards me. “Leave this place, and never come back,...please Cetta. You must live, but not here.” She past the bag to me as I stood shocked, but in the end, I left her. I left my home, I left my clan all behind, for there are no warriors anymore on Moghes, only corpses and the dust of memory, of ages past, that buries everything under it. Cetta moved off Moghes and joined a small time freight company, earning her shuttle piloting license before joining NanoTrasen. She was originally assigned to the NSS Exodus, and quickly took a liking to mixing drinks. She has since spent two years with the company. What do you like about this character? Attitude and whole gender roles in their culture being translated to a interspecies megacorp. How would you rate your role-playing ability? High
Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 Interesting interpretation of the Unathi mindset! Application accepted.
