mivoid Posted December 3 Posted December 3 BYOND Ckey: Vandalxx Discord username: miv Character names: Ka'Akaix'Doz Zo'ra, Cameryn Jones Species you are applying to play: Unathi What colour do you plan on making your first alien character?: Around the RGB 233, 178, 104 range. Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this species?: I'm interested in playing the more alien races typically in RP scenarios, and Unathi are what i've been looking for as a halfway point. I play a lot of Vaurca and they've become my favorite race to play as but I sometimes feel they are too different from humans. I think roleplaying as a Unathi would be a good middle point between super alien insectoids and just baseline human. I also love reptiles and amphibians as much as I love bugs (I have several pet snakes/lizards). What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: Being a reptilian species with a unique physiology and diet, They differ from humans not only biologically, but culturally as well. With personal honor and ways of conducting oneself being a pivotal point in most Unathi lives. Living in a feudal society on such a geologically varied planet creates opportunities for many different characters and stories. Similar to Vaurcae, there are also refugees and enclaves all across the Spur which have embedded themselves into other spaces and allow Unathi to grow differently than those on Moghes. The way gender works and it's association with the profession of the sinta is very unique compared to humans. Character Name: Ruzhen Uzeki Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon: Ruzhen was born on 2448 in Bahard to a local noble clan leader and a citizen of the Hegemony. He was the youngest of 2 brothers. His older brother Rokat was the prize of the family, being the main inheritor of the clan's dwindling riches when their father passed away. His father was a member of the merchants guild and earned many credits during his time alive but after the Contact War his position in the guild was rescinded as they abandoned their work in the mountain region. His later years were filled with dissent and hate for the guild and he passed shortly after Ruzhen was born. Ruzhan was tutored at the Bahard schools and received an upbringing befit of a noble with their father's wealth. Ruzhen had several disagreements with his brother after expressing his worry about the draining coffers and their incapability to upkeep their fathers inherited property. The brothers despised the guild for leaving the city and deserting the clan with no way to continue their fathers' longstanding career in the guild. They worked in the local Bahard church of Sk'akh as they were both raised as believers in the religion and there was not many other low-paying jobs in Bahard, since no plants would grow from the tarnished soil and there was no fish to catch. Rokat had a bad habit of overspending and a hedonistic lifestyle. He used their late fathers wealth to party and purchase rare luxuries while Ruzhen did menial jobs, he lived as a peasant while Rokat treated himself like a lord. This work at the church and around the city lasted until Ruzhen was 17. Now almost an adult, the economy is at it's worst. The Hegemony struggles to keep up as the merchant guild officially declares bankrupt, some small satisfaction comes to Ruzhen as the company that doomed their city and clan now gets what it gave. Ruzhen decides the best course for their clan is for him to leave their home and search for opportunity elsewhere. He travels west, towards the southlands to Jaz'zirt. The journey was relatively easy, as the earth on the way to the southlands were protected from the wastes by the mountains, he kept a small marble statue of Sk'akh given to him by the priests in Bahard for his work. It was 2465, and Ruzhen was settling into living alone away from their clan. The town of Jaz'zirt was rife with anger as guildworkers are being laid off during the economical crisis. Many workers from the new independent guild named "Hearts of Industry" protest and blockade existing guild buildings. This concerns Ruzhen and complicates his search for a steady paying job in the city. He still approaches the local mining chapter, despite the protests, and gets educated in the ways of mining and processing ore. He would work for months as an apprentice and fully graduate as a member of the guild as subsidiary of Hephaestus. It is late 2466. Hephaestus representatives come to Ruzhen's chapter in Jaz'zirt with an offer of reassignment to a Stellar Corporate Conglomerate vessel of the name of Horizon. He recognizes the name as the foreign corporate vessel that aided the humanitarian efforts during the Izaku Rebellion in the northern Zazalai mountains. They were looking for a few newly hired Hephaestus guild workers to be employed on the ship and assist with it's mining efforts in the greater Orion Spur. Under the streamlined guild processes brought by Yukal T’zakal, many Unathi were being assigned and moved as needed. This was a position offered only by those recommended by a noble family and was a high paying lucrative offer. He knew no noble families in Jaz'zirt and assumed his brother did not care for his efforts and thought of him as a lesser. Eventually, another representative came and told Rezhen he would be chosen for the job. A recommendation from his brother was the reason. Rezhen was surprised. It turns out Rokat was ashamed of his behavior and wanted to reconcile with his brother by allowing him to restore their clans honor and fortune among the stars. How has the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? The phoron crisis which lead to the downfall of the Hegemony economy and the introduction of Hephaestus to bail out most of the guilds, presented an opportunity for Ruzhen to work abroad and earn more credits than he usually would. He didn't feel the effects of the economy mostly as his family was still pretty wealthy and had a large property, though things were looking bleak before the Hephaestus mining opportunity arose. His family was in a dead end city with minimal opportunities for growth, Ruzhen realized he would not have gotten the job with such benefits in a high end location if it weren't for the effort of Yukal T’zakal as guildmaster. Many bumps and roadblocks that arose from Hephaestus acquiring the guilds would be lessened by T'zakal's deeds and Ruzhen respects them greatly for this. Ruzhen and his clan has always been loyal to the Hegemony as their distrust lies in the guild for abandoning their city and clan. So the Izaku Rebellion was a terrible tragedy in the north. Ruzhen was not personally involved in the conflict but is proud that the traitorous Izaku was put to an end after murdering Federation humanitarian workers. How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? Ruzhen is one of the Unathi who fully trust the Hephaestus Corporation and believe that the Hegemony would have fallen if not for their bailouts. The merchant guild left a large gap in the Uzeki clan, and they would have surely become destitute. Ruzhen highly respects the Guild and the Guildmaster, T'zakal, for giving him such an opportunity to work on a high-end spaceship. Despite the protests in Jaz'zirt, Hephaestus still offered job openings with many benefits and safety measures in an occupation that was known for being dangerous. When his clan was at its lowest, the Hephaestus Corporation took him in and gave him hope. Ruzhen will be as loyal to Hephaestus as he is to Izweki.
