Xeno-Botanical Project Proposal for Safer K'ois Horticulture

Background: Being out of resupply range, the prepackaged K'ois available in the Kitchen could start becoming scarce, which would necessitate the growing of K'ois by Hydroponics. In my experience Hydroponics rarely grows K'ois and such this is likely a very atrophied skill for many. Additionally, sporing during harvest may cause issues with Vaurca participating in the Hydroponics Tray Program in residential. Though I'm unfamiliar with the details.

Proposal: Produce a strain of K'ois that does not spore, and who's fruit will not root outside of a hydroponics tray or other sufficiently nutrient rich soil.

Summary of Preliminary Research:

Preliminary trials have gone well, replacing the structure prevents a sporing event in 100% of the trials I've run. The fruit produced is of a different structure than K'ois, and this has implications for Vaurcan tastes but no affect on the nutritional content. All fruit contain Phoron and K'ois with no nutriment or other contaminants. Identical to a normal K'ois fruit. The fruit will not root if placed in contact with a surface as normal. The fruit emits the same yellow glow as K'ois, I've been told it is pleasing by most vuarca that witness it.

Direct consumption of the modified fruit by a non Vaurcan results in mycosis and a sporing event, 5 units of the fruit was insufficient to cause death in a monkey, 15u caused a sporing event followed by expiration. No rooting of the spores was observed, indicating it may be passing on the new genome, but this is unknown. Further trials should include an uninfected monkey to check for mycosis vector infection.

Conclusion and benefits:

It currently seems that havest sporing and unintentional rooting can be prevented while producing a nutritionally viable K'ois substitute. Addiontally, if the project is approved, the structure of the fruit is changed drastically, Vaurcan Marketing representatives should collect data on which structures would be most desired.

This strain could reduce the risk of mishaps in Hydroponics, preservation of prepackaged K'ois for shifts lacking a Hydroponicist and growing of K'ois in Vaurcan quarters without risks of a harvest sporing event getting loose. It's worth noting having K'ois growing in their room, specifically the glow, may be beneficial to their mental wellbeing, which may be an avenue of research for someone else to follow up on.

Alternative:

Ensure training for Hydroponicist's k'ois procedure is being maintained. I believe, and may be wrong, that easy access to prepackaged K'ois may be hiding an atrophied skill.

Update:

I've done 6 trials with the following Protocol. Using the structure and vigor trait from Coco Leaf, transplanted into K'ois.

Protocol:

Force feed one monkey, Subject 1, with the modified K'ois strain's fruit. Tried variations ranging from half a fruit, to two fruits.

Force feed a control monkey, Control Subject, with unmodified K'ois, the same amount as the modified strain. Using halves of the fruit as a quanta.

Observe Response, optionally inject dylovene.

Wait 20 minutes.

scan both subjects,

Metrics used: Time to respiratory distress, pain response, presence of and time till sporing events, presence and health of the mycosis organ during autopsy.

The primary metric I've focused on is the presence of a Mycosis organ.

Three of the six control Subjects grew a mycosis organ, none spored, all organs were necrotic at time of autopsy.

Zero of the six Subject 1's exhibited mycosal growths.

There's a 1.5625% chance of this being due to random chance.

3/6 chance of mycosis in the control subjects.

Chance of my modified strain not causing a mycosis in 6 trials is: 0.5^6 = 0.0015625
