Character names:

I’ve played a lot of characters semi regularly, however most people will know:

Z.I. Circe (Investigator)

Rhea Volvalaad (Consular)

Hazel #S-H8.11 (Chef)

Species you are applying to play: Dionae

General Whitelist Requirements

What colour do you plan on making your first alien character?: A vague brown/green!

Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?: Yes

Why do you wish to play this species?:

Honestly? The sheer alien-ness of them is a huge draw. Dionae, of all Aurora’s species, are perhaps the most unique. While many of the ideas of the others can be found across sci fi, the idea of gestalt beings who can live fine in the void of space but most often end up forming bipedal forms able to work alongside your basic humans. The way they can think, interpret the universe blending with alien (to them) cultures. They take can be utterly different from anything other species can dream of.

What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?:

You’re playing a ship of one and many. They are a gestalt, a collective minds working sometimes selfishly – and of course, exactly how that group comes to decisions can be varied based on mindtypes and the knowledge this particular gestalt has.

Character Application

Character Name: Forgotten Hopes Reborn Tomorrow

Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon.

Forgotten Hopes Reborn Tomorrow (hereafter referred to as Hopes) formed from The Conglomerated Choir of Nralakk in 2226, enough nymphs breaking away to form a cyclops form. Intent to seek out knowledge the newly found Skrell, Hopes joined the rebuilding effort alongside many others. Taking on some nymphs with experience with the skrell, Hopes settled into a Scholarly Song mind type.

Intend on learning via first hand experience, Hopes travelled the federation as it recovered from the reign of Glorsh-Omega. As a means to this end, it took various physical jobs in as many diverse locales as possible across the federation.

During these travels, Hopes knowledge of the Skrell grew more and more. While it would partake of blood samples to quickly and short-term fill needed roles, it learned more from the experience working alongside them. The nymphs making up Hopes agree that this method was best, and avoided the consumption of the dead in recognition for the losses suffered by the Skrell in recent memory.

Scholarly Song gestalts leadership style are not uniform, and Hopes took after their hosts. Some nymphs pushed for greater personal integration with the Skrell, forming longer bonds with induviduals and having a deeper knowledge from that. Others pushed for a more itinerant approach, hoping for a more varied sum of knowledge. Ultimately, Hopes began to internally vote on larger decisions, with some nymphs in the middle swaying from one side to the other over the years.

It was during one of the itinerant moments that Hopes turned to the Eternal, learned from others in the Federation. Their approach and the Orthodox Eternal aligned. As the Diona of the Conglomerated Choir of Nralakk began to be more deeply integrated into the Federation, Hopes internal gestalt settled upon a path – one of academia and learning, focussing on one field in particular. No longer to wander, and with a SCI score to worry about, Hopes applied all they had learned into vigorous study in the field of xenoarchaeology.

The collective’s belief in personal experience and learning over genetic absorption allowed them to integrate well into the recovering Federation. Finding much success with this meathod, the nymphs making up Hope were happiled chipped by the Council of Dionae Integration and Adoption. Their status of as a member of the Conglomerated Choir of Nralakk and their assistance in that early stage of the rebuilding saw them gain favourable treatment, alongside their following of the Orthodox Eternal and their peaceful and harmonious ways, they gained a favourable score in the Dionae Equitable Social Compatability System.

How has the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? Events such as the Phoron Scarcity, the Solarian Collapse or even the Invasions of Biesel for interstellar-wide affairs, while region-specific events such as the Peacekeeper Mandate, The Titan Rises or even Cold Dawn may impact your character.

Hopes observed the Omnivirate’s emergence into the wider Spur with mixed feelings. The existence of the Scorned on Xrim has long been a point of pity and discomfort for every single nymph making up Hopes, and attempts to reach a compromise with the Scorned are largely held to be misguided by Hopes nymphs. They watch on as the Rotunnkc Compact continues to grow with interest. Finally, news of Moghes perked some interest – a matter of curiousity.

How does your character view the megacorporation they work for?

Late in the 2440s, Hopes began to work for Zeng-Hu. This was always a practical bond, as it allowed them more options for them in the future, with an eye to travel beyond the bounds of the Federation for the first time in centuries. Zeng-Hu was chosen for it’s ties with the Federation, though it is something Hopes reached disharmony with early in the career. The corporation’s use of augments and genetic modification did not sit well with Hopes practical approach, and it was for this reason they jumped on the opportunity for employment with the SCC directly as a Research Director. SCC’s nature as a melting pot of corporate influences and peoples was much more appealing to Hopes, and perhaps naively saw it as an attempt at harmony across many different peoples, which forever aligns with their own goals.
