All Crew Communique: Operation Deep Dive

Date: 08/03/2468

WARNING – THIS REPORT IS CONFIDENTIAL, AND ALL DETAILS ARE CONSIDERED A CORPORATE SECRET. ANY MEMBER OF CREW FOUND TO LEAK THE INFORMATION HEREIN TO OUTSIDE SOURCES WILL BE SUBJECT TO i308 LEADING TO IMMEDIATE SUSPENSION AND HuT.

Horizon,

Let me once more preface the importance of confidentiality. The missions you are about to embark on could prove the most important in the SCC’s history, depending on its success. To this end, the League of Chief Directors have personally greenlit the deployment of six SCC ships to undertake this mission. You are but one part of a greater whole, much like our chainlink. This has been done to ensure the highest possibility of success.

The SCC has long been aware of rumours of phoron within the Lemurian Sea – however such rumours amounted to unsubstantiated hear say, and given the dangers of the Sea it had long been dismissed by the SCC – and many of the powers of the spur – with only the Republic of Assunzione pursuing such rumours in any marked manner.

This has changed. The SCC can confirm that a substantial amount of phoron is entering the market, and can finally trace its origin to Light’s Edge on the border of the Lemurian Sea, and has strong reason to believe it has originated from within the Sea itself. Furthermore, it is strongly believe this trade is controlled by the group calling themselves “The Outer Eyes.”

Operation Deep Dive

This ongoing mission has been dubbed Operation Deep Dive by the League of Chief Directors. The Horizon was to follow up on five other scout ships rumours, and provide a level of presence in Light’s Edge around which the other scouts could operate. Due to Outer Eyes sabotage, the SCCV Horizon will now be pressed into direct scout and surveying work alongside the remaining scouts.

The ultimate goal of Operation Deep Dive is to verify the rumours of a phoron source within the Sea, and if possible to then secure it until further ships can relieve the small SCC group.

After a period of refit, repair and supply ontake in Assunzione, the first phase of Operation Deep Dive will be a directed intelligence gathering operation. The Horizon is to gather information by any means, spying on trade, speaking with locals and recovering navlog data where possible. All information is to be forwarded to Central Command as soon as possible. This will take part in Light’s Edge, where the danger of the Lemurian Sea is minimal.

The Lemurian Sea is not to be entered, except under direction of Central Command. Due to the nature of the sea, any such incursions will be short and mission oriented to minimize the chance of the Horizon been lost.

Light’s Edge Brief

Light’s Edge, for the most part, is uninhabited by any large-scale system or colony except for Assunzione. However, a large number of small independent colonies, stations and other habitats dot the region sparsely. It is from these people that and facilities that it is hoped a picture of the illicit phoron trade can be built, and a solid pathway forward can be found.

Medical are advised to be on particular lookout for crew members in Light’s Edge, and any evidence of paranoia, hallucination and extended dissociation are to be recorded. Additional physical symptoms include including temporary vision loss, insomnia, shortness of breath and prolonged muscle pains. In the event of multiple of these symptoms manifesting, treatments such as the administration of neurapan and medical leave are advised. Should these symptoms not reduce after such treatments, said crew members are to be returned to Assunzione as soon as possible.

There has been a recent increase in pirate activity in Light’s Edge, targeting often the shipping in the region. This increase is in part due to the recent increase in operation by Dominian privateers, often those belonging to the Unathi Clans Kazhkz and Han’san. The chaos caused by the recent Dominia – Elyra conflicts in general have caused instability in the patrols by the Elyran Navy while law keeping patrols from other groups, notably the Republic of Assunzione and the Frontier Protection Bureau, have been focussed on containment operations. It is suspected a lot of the pirate activity is opportunistic, and such ships pose low threat to the Horizon and other SCC ships. There is also now known to be a core of Outer Eyes directed ships operating in the region, the number of which is unknown.

Lemurian Sea Brief

The Lemurian Sea is altogether a different prospect, and all crew are to re familiarize themselves with available documentation. Of note is that this operation will only spend short amounts of time in the Sea as needed, to minimize the threat posed by the myriad anomalies.

All citizens of the Nralakk Federation has been granted special leave to enter the Lemurian Sea under the banner of the SCC, despite Federation bans on such ventures.

Zeng-Hu is offering the installation of mind blanker implants to crew to minimize the effect of psionic interference in the Sea.

No further details are available for general crew. Command staff are encouraged to check the command brief in the following days, where additional details will be available.

Supply

Light’s Edge, for the most part, is uninhabited by any large-scale system or colony, and the increase in pirate activity in the sector has made establishing safe supply routes for our allies in Orion Express have proven ineffective. Therefore, the Horizon is expected to manage its resources while on mission.

Command have been provided a budget and a ledger which they are expected to upkeep. More details will be available shortly.
