Lord Lag's Head Application

Recommended Posts

BYOND key: Lord Lag

Character names: Alexander Sheppard, Awoken in the Void, F.A.T.H.E.R

How long have you been playing on Aurora?: It has to be 1-2 months now

Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I must RIIISE up, RIIISE! And be on the other end of the high-level AI abuse! On a more serious note, I wish to help populate the command level roles. Characters such as HoPs are very important to the management side of the station, A side which must be seen to just as much as a competent security force or a populated medical team.

Why did you come to Aurora?: Came to SS13 at a friends request, wished to RP for I had been into WoW RP before this, and thus went to some server and things happened, couldn't go back there, and thus I came to aurora. That's pretty much it, it isn't a very entertaining story.

Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: Yep. Fairly interesting actually.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each.

Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Role playing is, in my opinion, a hobby where you engage in suspending belief in your current reality, and entering the realm of whatever you are trying to play, in this case, the NSS Aurora and its misadventures. Ultimately, It should be about everyone developing characters and overall having a fun time, as were not here to become cripplingly stressed out after leaving the real world.

What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: They are the guiders, the commanders, the approvers and the standards at which we are supposed to hold ourselves and work towards. When confusion takes hold, they are the ones who should be and are in most cases sought out to bring clarity to IC issues, and mainly, to be a friendly face for people to turn to.

What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: If a Whitelist is accepted, you are most likely already a fairly trusted member of the community. The responsibility is to not break this trust and go rampant with the "power" now given, instead maintaining composure and not getting into petty arguments over nothing like a two year old. The Whitelist should be used to further RP and provide help, as that is what the command staff do in the end of the day, and who can trust you to help them, or want you to help them, if your screaming in Looc at them over an IC issue.

Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions.

Character name: Alexander Sheppard

Character age: 38

Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Alexander was born and raised on Earth after its resurgence to a family of Entrepreneurs. With personal business always being a core tenant, a rise to a lower management position of an existing company following almost eight years of education was surprising, but not unexpected on the family's part. The five years it took for him to reach this lower position, while financially very good for him, was not entertaining.

Truth be told, he wished to go to space, and when the opportunity to work out in the black presented itself, he took it and ran. The sudden departure was not received well from his relatives, and in some way he regretted leaving them behind, but striking out, he told himself, fueled the desire he had had for a very, very long time. And so, When NanoTrasen gave him the chance, he was on the fist ship they had available to a station. From here, another slow climb was begun, ending with Sheppard becoming a loyalty-implanted Internal Affairs Agent. But his desire to rise has not ended here.

What do you like about this character?: The first character I considered "acceptable" Enough to be a main, so I like them by virtue of them not being terrible.

What do you dislike about this character?: I don't dislike them, though if this means faults, I suppose high-stress situations do "buckle" them, and as such they couldn't be seriously considered for a role such as HoS.

What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: A history in management makes them suitable for a position such as a Head of Personnel, but a lack of intense-stress in their life and made them unsuitable for a role such as a Head of Security.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions.

How would you rate your own roleplaying?: 11/10 flawless, obviously.

I've seen him play his AI several times, and have seen only good. With A.I. he's already at least slightly experienced with having power and making critical decisions, only with a head he's not lawed, and I think he can handle the RP well. He has my support.

The only Sheppard I can recall at this time was a security officer... If memory serves, he did not do a very good job. His name may also have been Alexander, but I cannot be sure.

I will keep an eye out for your character and hopefully be impressed enough to give a plus one. Until then, please keep RPing Alexander. Here's to hoping we see each other soon!
