BYOND Key: Voyd2000

Character Names: Kanza Al'Falak, Adama Al'Rafati, OneZero.

Species you are applying to play: IPC

What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): crimson red.

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes, However it seems to talk more about the origins of AI vs anything unique to IPCs as a playable race

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question

Why do you wish to play this specific race:

I have been considering an application for this race(IPC) for some time now, I enjoy playing Borg units and feel this is a natural progression of my RP challenges within the gamespace.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:

This depends on the type of IPC a given player intends to play as they can be cold and robotic or just as animated and rude as a human, Mechanically they sport vulnerabilities and straights that differ from organic beings, One notable change is the need for a "Suit cooling unit" when doing EVA activities, without such they quickly overheat and shut down, The equivalent of death in humans.

Character Name: Sheridan Zinerva

Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs

Originally built as maintenance worker on board a corporate owned flagship of Infinity Dynamics,

his small size allowed him access into tight areas between decks and bulkheads, Zinerva was a typical Line model AI, Cold and calculating.

However the engineering team that built the IPC body also secretly installed a second protocol called Sheridan, A much more advanced algorithm like that of a Bespoke type IPC, Sheridan was stuck behind a hardware lock and unable to access higher functions like communication and movement, Essentially he was a mind trapped inside another mind.

This lock persisted for 12 years of his operation before it was physically removed during a procedure meant to upgrade other systems, With his original builders and engineers gone the new team had no idea what they did by removing the mysterious lock, Immediately upon removal the two personalities had linked up and Sheridan was free from his digital prison now able to access all of the higher functions of Zinerva. The engineering team at this point realizing what they had done they kept the IPC under observation for two years in lab in which a barrage of tests were carried out on this once hidden personality to determine if it was safe to allow the IPC to remain in continued operation.

The sudden death of Infinity Dynamics CEO and Founder caused a massive liquidation and sell off of corporate assets, this included Sheridan Zinerva who now works for NT. in the science department.

What do you like about this character?

I believe the multiple personality trait between Sheridan and Zinerva will be a new challenge to play as I work out how they will act with each other and the crew.

How would you rate your role-playing ability?

I was asked this in my Tajara application and I have the same answer here, I believe I'm not qualified to answer this question as I tend to leave it up to others for judgment, However I do try hard to RP to the best of my ability and learn from other peoples good examples.

You were too humble to attest to your own level of roleplaying, so allow me to do that for you:

Dedicated, immersive, convincing, subtle, helpful (and a genuinely nice guy in OOC too).

This guy is one of the best borg players I've come across in the game. He picked a very specific way to play his unit OneZero in the game, and his ability to maintain character bars on that of a stage actor. I can't help but admire the way he takes the time and effort to portray the little subtleties that depict his character: The protocol-driven behavior, the constant beeping when engaging in conversation, or the little gestures that genuinely make me forget I'm interacting with a real person, and not an actual machine.

And then there's the backstory: I just want to see how this unfolds in game, I can't imagine it to be anything but a great experience to witness. It's well written, interesting, and a complicated challenge to take on.

Needless to say, I approve.

Hi Voyd!

Interesting looking character! You also have an unusually old IPC character. The current lore has humanity having acquired the ability to create true AI's about twenty years ago, so your character would either need to be of Skrellian origin, or else be younger. Aside from that, everything seems to be in order.

One part of this whole ap that I had 2nd thoughts about was the age, now I know why, I pulled it down to overall age of 14. I hope this better suits things without being of Skrell origin. the age is incredibly flexible and can go lower if needed.
