incognitojesus Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Reporting Personnel: Jade Merkel Rank of Reporting Personnel: Security Officer L1 Personnel Involved: Winston Carton, Chemist Ickthar Slithiss, Warden Drew Valstrom, Captain Astor Shaner, Surgeon Mrrazuraghran Halmrrdynh, Security Cadet Mike Hernandez, Detective Time of Incident: 13:10 Station time - End Shift Real time: 0430 AM GMT Location of Incident: Holodeck, Brig Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property []Neglect of Duty []Harassment [x]Assault [x]Misconduct []Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: Upon arrival on the NSS Exodus, I was called to escort two Duty Officers to the bridge. After this was accomplished, I set out on my task as a dutiful security officer and hit the firing range for some target practice. When this was over, I decided to head to the holodeck and see if any of my fellow officers wanted to work on our martial prowess. For the record, there was not an assigned Head of Security at the time and the interim had not yet taken command. The interim in this case is Ickthar Slithiss. Failing to find a sparring partner, I sparred with Winston Carton, a chemist aboard the NSS Exodus at the time. I was able to dispatch him easily, however, when he got up he began to hit me repeatedly until I became unconscious due to the holodeck's properties of damage control. When I awoke, I had my face stomped on by Mr. Carton, causing me immense physical and real pain. Rising to defend myself, and seeing that Carton removed his gloves and I was unable to reach my belt, I tried forcing Carton to the ground and pinning him. He resisted this, and then proceeded to punch me again and again before stomping on me once more. I believe this is when he fractured my skull, and gave me brain damage, however, due to the obvious effects of this physical trauma, I am unable to confirm. Because I was unable to reach my belt, I was forced to defend myself with close combat techniques, however, I was aiming to pacify Carton until I could reach for my flash. After I was able to reach for my flash, I flashed Carton and cuffed him, informing him that he was to be arrested for assaulting my person. Afterwards, with both a fractured skull and brain damage, I took him to the brig after informing the Chief Medical Officer over general communications that I was arresting her chemist for assaulting me. When I brought Carton to the Warden, Slithiss, I informed him of Carton's charges and the reasoning behind it. The Warden then took both myself and Carton to the Brig Infirmary where he analyzed my vitals, and told me to go to medical because I was clearly seriously injured. He even remarked on the fact that Winston was barely hurt at all, despite his proclamations that I assaulted him. After I left, I headed to medical where I was seen by Dr. Shaner. I then had to undergo an extensive and invasive operation to repair the damage Carton inflicted upon me. When I was woken up, the surgeon told me the operation was a success. I then headed back to the brig after informing security staff I was active once more. There, Slithiss informed me that the Captain, Drew Valstrom, said that I should have been patrolling rather than sparring in the holodeck. However, none of the members of security had received a standing order from a Head of Staff or the Captain himself, despite his presence on the station for about a half hour or so before the incident occurred. This, coupled with the inaction on the part of the Captain, led me to believe that my injuries were not taken seriously at all, despite the fact that it could have led to my own death. I then received news that Carton was only brigged for a grand total of ten minutes, despite the possible charges being Assault of an Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Battery. To reiterate, I almost died. It is disgusting to see this sort of laissez-faire from my superiors. I then awaited news of the detective, Mike Hernandez's investigation of the blood found at the scene. He confirmed that there both myself and Carton left traces of blood at the scene. I was able to take these images from the security cameras in the brig: Also, I was deemed to be charged with Excessive Use of Force in Detainment by Cadet Mrrazuraghran Halmrrdynh, which I would like to dispute, as my actions were taken in self defense of myself. I opted to pay the fine of 350 Cr. This is the end of my incident report. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or IAA? If so, who?: No, the Captain did not seem willing to cooperate, and only stated I should have been on patrol. Additional notes: I am disgusted by the lack of professionalism displayed by those who refused to investigate or even take a statement from me.
