dugbug778 Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 BYOND Key: Dugbug778 Character Names: Alice Li, Jiro Takano, Vrost Jazz, Zhou Chen Species you are applying to play: Dionaea What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Green Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yeah, I've heard it. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Playing this race for me has always been different both in the way that it plays in the BYOND engine and in roleplay wise. In the roleplay mainly. The roleplay that seperates is that fact that it is a being made up of several smaller creatures. The lore of the dionaea and the way that they function has always amazed me and I've always wanted to explore it further than just playing a nymph mid-way through a round. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: I've have roleplayed a Dionaea before on different servers and I always enjoyed roleplaying a creature which takes life slow and has a different view on the world due to it's nature of being multiple creatures. I've always fancied the idea of playing what equate to nature within it's own body. It's different and it gives a sense of peculiarity. Playing the race is more like a story rather than a character arc. It's a learning experience which can be tackled in many different ways, such as playing the Dionaea as something new to human emotions and trying to learn to understand them, perhaps it's only recently separated from it's previous habitat with the Skrell race. Everything about them is different from humans, from their physiological being to the way they interact between themselves, sometimes merging to become a different being. Character Name: Wind rustling the Grass Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs The wind rustling along the grass was the first sound we heard when we were but young. We nested, we developed, we grew in the field, the plain seemed endless, but this was not our home. We glanced around as we tried to find something but all we found was a hole. Down in the hole we saw it. Our first contact with something other than ourselves. It was a creature, with skin a slick as the dew from the morning lying on our skin. It came to us, it nurtured us for we were but a child. It took us with it as it went back to it's metal box, we did not understand, but there it was, everything was interconnected inside, just like us. A hive to metal and plastic with a bunch of different creatures living inside. We watched as it grew and we too grew with it. It taught us, taught us of what else was out there among the stars for we did not know. We learned there were more of us, some not far. The creature took us to the stars and showed us the rest of us, and then we were them, and they were us. We had come together and we felt different, but the same. The creature took us with it, it taught us more and it studied us, trying to learn us. That was years ago, and now we stand together among the stars, drifting in a metal craft as we prepare to take on a new task among the different creatures of the stars, some the same as ours, some different. I still heard the wind rustling through the grass where I was born. What do you like about this character? I started this character a long time ago on the different server and I've liked him ever since. Me and him have come a long way together and through playing him he has helped me expand my knowledge of Dionaea and become a better roleplayer, so he holds a special place in my heart. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I guess that it's not terrible, I don't particularly like to puff out my chest and say that I'm great at it, but I'm growing as a role player. Notes: I'm not particularly good at writing these types of things, so sorry.
Killerhurtz Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 That's a lovely application. I don't remember last time someone wrote something so poetic. While I have no problem approving your app, I would invite you to actually READ the wiki entry for Dionaea regardless - you might find some things you weren't expecting.
