tmmytbbt
BYOND Key: RabbitTabbit Character Names: Ka'Viax'Ika'te Zo'ra, Randy McKinner Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Sandy Colour Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Prior to coming to Aurora Unathi were the only race I played, admittedly unathi here are different given their fleshed out lore but the desire to play a lizard once more is strong. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: They're simply different, while they may be similar in a lot of ways they have a different culture and attitude to any human, even the more liberal types of unathi. Whether or not they fully embrace it the honour bound society is a pervasive part of their culture and it changes how the interact with others. They also seem to be a very hard or gruff species yet still emotive in their own way. It can be hard to engage fully with them on a personal level without having a deeper understanding of their culture. This can appear outwardly harsh but they still do what theyre meant to and help the station to the best of their ability. Character Name: Gan-Gro Sneer Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Being from Ouerea Sneer doesn't perfectly fit the mould of the traditional Moghes Unathi, though that's not to say he is wildly different either. He still believes in honour and protecting the weak for the betterment of the clan as a whole, he respects his superiors and expects those below him to respect him. However given his experience in living aside aliens he couldn't help but pick up bits and pieces from their way of life. For better or worse he grew attracted to their individuality and freedom. Humans in particular and their tendency to move from place to place and do things for their own personal benefit truly fascinated him but he stayed with his clan in one of Ouerea more populated cities and served them as best he could, loyal and unwilling to let down those closest to him or deviate from what was expected of him. For a long time Sneer was a hunter, he'd leave the city with other Unathi of his clan for days on end hunting creatures of all shapes and sizes and then haul them back. He was adequate at the job, nothing special but as usual he did what was expected of him. Eventually though he grew wary of the routine and frustrated with the lack of free will he felt he had especially compared to the aliens he saw around him every day. Sneer, though still unwilling to let down or embarrass his clan continued with hunts sought to strive out on his own during the time he remained in the city. Taking inspiration once more from the humans he opened a small vendor booth selling at first raw meat, extra he hunted himself beyond the quota he set for his clan. Eventually he began to cook too, not usually a male unathi's job but he did it anyway not out of any enjoyment of the cooking itself but rather it was something that was his and made him feel unique. As time moved on and he got older he began hunting less and less and settled to just be an odd unathi food vendor selling various meats. Curiously though despite the occassional human customer, Sneer never really learned or tried to cook anything other than food he'd himself enjoy eating, as such he mostly deals with meat. This attitude does mirror his attitude in general when it comes to aliens, he admires their freedom but never really strayed enough from his people or his species to adjust more than superficially to an alien mentality. When the Hegemony took control over Ouerea once again, Sneer felt uneasy with the influx of Moghes Unathi. Not necessarily for their attitude or their traditional way of being but simply because they weren't the Unathi he was accustomed to. As the population of foreign Unathi grew and grew and the alien population shrunk and shrunk he felt that major change was happening in his life regardless of what he did so he made the decision to leave his people and leave his planet and find work elsewhere in the galaxy eventually settling with Tau Ceti and gaining employment with Nanotrasen. What do you like about this character? He is a Unathi but he isn't hostile towards other species. He does like being around them and interacting with them but he has no actual understanding of them. When working in the kitchen he'll comply to requests to the best of his ability but he'll often just push Unathi food on them and be widely ignorant of the cultural differences between the species. He actively admires the freedom of other species and counts himself lucky to be working away from his home and the sheer act of being on board such a station as the Aurora is in his eyes the peak of freedom. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Average i'd say. it may take me a little while to adjust to a new character but I'll get their and do well once Ive figured out who they are through playing them. Notes: This character would obviously be a cook most of the time but given his "trying new things, freedom blah blah" mentality I'd like him to 'test' other work, and given him being a unathi it'd probably mean occassionally playing him as a security cadet (no plans to advance him beyond cadet) Link to comment
Guest Marlon Phoenix
Hello! You have no feedback but you have a very standard Unathi (which is actually a breath of fresh air in the current Unathi station climate) and you show an understanding of the cultural differences between Ouerae and Moghean Unathi very nicely. I remember you discussing a Unathi butcher that is very bloody and messy, so I just want to remind you again that your Unathi should follow BASIC hygiene standards expected in human space. Application accepted! Link to comment
