Recommended Posts

BYOND Key: Spiffyfishface

Character Names: Desmond Knapp, Connor Losvir, Strago DeTresky, Winslow Durnham, Richard Longardo, Zachirai Longardo (For 20 Years Future Event)

How long have you been playing on Aurora: 3, possibly 4 months

Species you are applying to play: Unathi

What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Dark Green

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?:Yes

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question

Why do you wish to play this specific race: The Unathi culture interests me mostly because of how it differs from human cultures, focusing on Honor and upholding it. It'll also be interesting to communicate and RP not through the use of making faces, but through utilizing various body language acts. And just being Unathi could in of itself be an adventure, whether dealing with Prejudice or having to risk death because of braving the cold for whatever reason develops within the RP. Also because I like Lizards almost as much as I like Cats.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: For one, the cultures of the Unathi and Humans are different. To put it in another way, Humanity doesn't enitrely function on the concept of honor, while the Unathi don't focus on Individuality so much as they focus on the group. Another thing that makes roleplaying a Unathi different is that instead of having the option to using faces for most emotions, there's also the option to use body language to show emotion.

Why does this species in particular hold your interest? Because I've always had a liking for reptiles, almost as much as I like Cats. But between the Unathi and the Tarajan, I'd rather start with the former, simply because the Unathi seem easier to understand.

Character Name: Lesviro Ictantes

Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs

Lesviro Ictantes is a Unathi who once hailed from Ouere. Despite his best efforts, he wasn't strong enough to serve his clan as he hoped he would. They told him he was weak, and assigned him to taking care of the shops and Thrushbeasts. He was disappointed with himself, but he kept it to himself. Even when taunted about his status and who he was, he simply shook it off and resumed his life. As he continued his shopkeeping, he began to notice he had a knack for repairs.

Then one day, he heard of Nanotransen amongst his people. Heard of the possibilities of getting an education and doing something with his life. With the concent of his tribe, he headed off to the stars to enlist in an NanoTrasen Educational Facility, intent on becoming an engineer. During his first year, however, he lost his hand in an industrial accident. Despite this, he was still allowed to continue his education, and after getting a robotic prosthetic, he continued to work at getting his engineering degree. At the age of 20, he filed for employment at the USS Aurora.

What do you like about this character? That he likes helping people, wants to become stronger as a person, is persistent to a fault, and is rather passive.

How would you rate your role-playing ability? 7

Notes: If there are any problems with the story or anything else that needs to be changed, please be sure to tell me. EDIT: I also added more to his backstory to hopefully reflect more on his personality.

before I vote or anything on this, your backstory has meat to it, it doesn't really tell us anything about your character. How will he react to task X or situation Y?

That's... something I probably should've thought of. Should I edit that part into the original application? (I wouldn't know, honestly. This is my first time doing an app ever)

Quick question:

What is your characters current IC age? (note that 25 is minimum for Engineering related non-intern jobs))

28 years old. (I was gonna go with the fact that since they live only to about 70 years normally, I thought that they'd be an exception to the 25 year minimum. But then I realized that they live about as long as most humans, so I dropped the ball on that one.)
