  1. "And by that, I'm referring to 'Heavy Roleplay.' What is considered heavy roleplay is beyond just character interaction, it's also character development, and all of the amazing benefits and consequences that are brought on as a result of that."

"(like, torturing detained crewmembers who have done nothing to deserve said torture, valid salad traitor or not)"

The guy's character was developed by the torture, actually. Because it was fun, enjoyable RP and he decided to roll with it.

As for the undeserving part, he decapitated another crewmember and there was strong evidence pointing to corporate espionage (contraband, assasination, etc.)

  2. Sue is right. There is no fathomable excuse as to why a captain would ever stoop to torture a prisoner of any kind. In fact, unless you're an antag, it is completely unacceptable for anyone in any position to do such a thing, within the rules. It is self-antagging. The enjoyment of all parties is not a factor here, the rules need to be upheld, period.

So, rules over enjoyment is what you're going for here.

Need I remind everyone once again that we're here to play a game, and that games are generally played for enjoyment?

  3. My retort is simple:

    I D O N ' T G I V E A F U C K

Honestly, we're here to play a game, let's play said game instead of spending our time bickering about bullshit that shouldn't really matter./i]

This really is the best way too look at things here. Are we here to bicker and make things shitty for everyone around us, or are we here to chill out and have fun?

  4. Woah hey I haven't checked this out for a couple days and you're all at each other's throats.

Was this really that big of a deal?

One thing I'm seeing in here is people acting like this was a big event that affected them personally and deeply. Allow me to remind you all of something that is often forgotten- this is a game. A game where we RP, yes, a game that we enjoy, but still a game. The characters that were killed? Cloned. If they hadn't been cloned they would have come back next round. The guy that was tortured? Yeah, he got tortured. He incorporated it into his character in an interesting way. He's fine. In the end, everyone was fine.

There's no lasting effect. No scars burned into people's psyches from that one time the captain shot them. What's the big deal? Where's the huge crime here?

  5. I suppose the more reasonable thing to do would have been to lie down and get arrested, but that's extremely dull. Instead Hive and I did something unpredictable that spiced up the round, rather than going to sit in perma for the duration. Honestly I'd have preferred the warden to not freak as soon as I aimed at him and used him as a way out instead, but things happen. I personally had a lot of fun and I know a lot of others did as well.

  6. Even better, the guy I tortured had a great time and actually made the character's injuries permanent, and a part of his character's development. RP doesn't always have to be by the books, and in fact can be better when you go off the rails and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty. I think that's something people forget and need to be reminded of.

  7. Remember when you could forcefully extract a confession from an infiltrator (+murderer) by using a mix of good RP and game mechanics without getting swarmed by security?

    Pepperidge Farms remembers.

Oh, and about the lethals. I only had those on to try and intimidate the warden into standing down, but then he ran around (like people always do when they get targeted with a gun) and everyone else rushed in, which started the firefight. So there's that.

  8. Every other Head of Staff has a pet.

The Chief Engineer has Poly, the HoP Ian, the CMO Runtime, the Captain Chauncey.

But the HoS gets no love. Here's what I suggest: a falcon, regal and imposing, that makes it's home on a stand in the HoS's office. It flies around, can be picked up and held in the hand, and attacks people set to arrest.

    Make it happen. Please.

  9. Leonin Smythe would bust open the armory, toss two laser rifles to Sarge, and snap off a proud salute.

Sarge, screen graphic grinning, would hand one rifle to Peter Thrushwood, before allowing Pete to climb onto his back. He would then run through the station, Peter piggybacking, and the two would fire indiscriminately at COMMIES and generally unpleasant people.

Meanwhile, Roran Coupe hides in the bathroom crying. Isaiah Coleson would sip tea in the chapel before dying in the crossfire.
