Character Names: Richard Higgs (human), Clement Borris (human)
Species you are applying to play: IPC
What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): N/A
Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Of course.
Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question
Why do you wish to play this specific race: My reasons for wanting to play as an IPC are simple. I've done it on other servers and it was very enjoyable. The servers I used to play on are dead now and the nostalgia was killing me, so I decided I'd apply here. The IPC lore on this server is much richer than what I'm used to and I think it'll lead to a much more enjoyable roleplay experience. I'm really looking forward to reimagining and playing as one of my favorite characters in 2D spessmans again.
Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:
IPCs don't have a metabolism. They don't get high. They don't eat. They don't need oxygen.
All they need is power and a suitable atmospheric pressure and temperature in order to keep cool.
The thought process of an IPC is much different from that of a human's. IPCs make decisions based on sets of logic and programmed responses. Humans make decisions based on brain chemistry, peer pressure, blind faith and a tiny bit of logic.
IPCs don't feel pain. That doesn't mean they're suicidal. Chassis are expensive despite being easy to repair.
Character Name: Lennox
Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs
Lennox was manufactured on New Gibson and was part of a batch of IPCs commissioned by the Dewalt Appliances company. Dewalt Appliances owns several factories on New Gibson as well as a large biodome for its employees. The batch of IPCs were built and programmed to serve as firefighters for the biodome. Dewalt Appliances adopted one of Lennox's "brothers" as the company mascot to feature in several advertisements for the company. The firefigher IPCs were programmed to be amicable towards people and to have a desire to help anyone in need. They proved to be extremely capable firefighters and some would be regarded as heroes.
Lennox was one of these heroes. He saved many lives, but was taken out of service after taking severe damage to his positronic brain at the site of a house fire in the Dewalt Biodome. He was shot by a skrell employee who he was trying to lead to safety. The panicked skrell assumed that Lennox was the one who set the fire and shot Lennox twice in the chest. One of the rounds caused irreparable damage to the portion of his positronic brain responsible for speech and lightly damaged another section responsible for movement. This led to Lennox being unable to speak properly as well as making it harder for him to keep his balance. Lennox was sold off to Nanotrasen for cheap to work as a janitor as he was unfit to continue being a firefighter.
Lennox is in a state of disrepair. He has not had proper maintenance in several years and has problems with the servos in his legs and his monitor. It would be more expensive for Nanotrasen to repair Lennox than to hire another janitor. Lennox hasn't changed much despite having the IPC equivalent of brain damage. He's still happy to be around people and happy to help however he can. In most cases this means cleaning floors. He communicates through rough gestures, near illegible handwriting, occasional Morse code and more commonly a collection of beeps, chirps, buzzes, and chimes. He was programmed to be able to administer first-aid and is familiar with EVA equipment as a result of his career as a firefighter. He walks at a slow pace to avoid loosing his balance but is very persistent when he has a task. He has been known to don EVA gear and clean windows from outside the station during quieter shifts.
What do you like about this character?
I used to love playing as Lennox before I came to Aurora. It was probably the most fun I've ever had as a janitor. In many ways Lennox was similar to a puppy. He was happy just to be around people and to be doing anything. I also enjoyed the slower pace of playing as a janitor compared to the usual medical or engineering that I used to to back then.
How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'd have to say probably somewhere around a 7 or an 8? I tend to get really into the role I'm playing.
Notes: I nearly died of nostalgia typing this out.
