  1. I've had the thought for about a year or two now that roboticists (or some flavor of them) should be considered trained in AI psychology and AI handling, including the station AI, and are to be treated as a head of staff when dealing with AIs. Maybe even to be treated above heads and below captain. Either way, loyalty implanting from the word go would likely be a good idea with this sort of thing. Some basis thought/explanation of logic is probably in order. I have a habit of saying ideas without explaining them and just assuming people are going to figure out the thought process and logic of it no problem. Roboticists are proficient to varying degrees in engineering, programming, information technology, and limited aspects of surgery. Some/most/all roboticists should also be, at least minimally, trained in the inner workings of AI and how they think, which would be practically unavoidable as a programmer because being a programmer means learning to think in and understand code, which is the medium for AI thought.
  2. Whooole bunch of ideas for robotics, implants, cybernetics, et cetera. And I encourage and invite others to voice ideas and discuss ideas on this topic. (I am 100% sure I'll crank out an OP idea or five.) Cybernetics Tool mods. Small tools that are integral to this job or that, such as a syringe. Most or all of these will likely have to be approved by heads or white-listing or something. Let's not have people capable of spawning in ready to grief with zero prep time beyond character creation. Types. Various types of cybernetics suited to certain tasks, such as a shock and heat resistant engineering type or a type that allows quick and easy interface/modification for roboticist. Like installing VTEC without the ID->crowbar->module->crowbar-ID or modifying bot behaviors without the ID fumbling. This is also probably something to limit to people within certain jobs/departments. Misc. mods that do things like constantly track the owner's vitals e.g. a built-in health analyzer, grant weak regenerative capabilities to the prosthetic on par with normal healing of flesh (at most), or something else. I couldn't think of much for miscellaneous mods. These would be somethign you can apply to just anyone and shouldn't be too crazy. Implants Implants that require surgery and reasonably (per the implant) advanced resource and fabrication requirements (e.g. science researches them, robotics or medical implants them). These would be able to do some of the cybernetics' mods' stuff, like the tool mods. An implant that generates and releases tricord when below a certain HP threshold (somewhere in the range of critical and 25%) to serve as an preventative. An implanted ID? Some of this stuff could be syndicate/tater only. On borgs and robotics... Please let us make an upgrade module for borgs that gives them at least one hand. A manipulator. And maybe a storage unit which is probably basically a box that was installed duct taped on.
  3. I takes a lot to make me disregard what someone is saying, I try to take everyone seriously... up to a point. I also try to avoid globalizing and lumping people together.
  4. Yeah I know I didn't act perfectly in the station, and I apologize about that, though I was still feeling like I was getting slapped and told to shut up like a little kid over a trivial remark which was basically a bug-fix more than an actual IC issue... That reminds me, what exactly is causing it to say 'Your whitelist status or job do not permit you to spawn with scanning goggles' when I can get them as roboticist but nothing else? Regardless, that's besides the point. About the IC in OOC bit, I'm with frances, I can totally understand spoiling a round by just blurting out critical information that not everyone knows, but it has become a joke to me to blurt out over OOC 'hey everybody! there's a floor!' as a satire of the extreme prejudice players and staff crack down on even the slightest hint of anything to do with round being mentioned. Hell, I think earlier that round, I mentioned stepping off of a shuttle and a bomb going off five feet from me and blowing half the shuttle dock away while leaving me spooked as hell but intact and the entire OOC channel was shut off before I could explain that this happened about a week ago, which is specifically okay to talk about. Reminds me of sec charging into some place just because they heard someone snatched a pen and brigging everyone...
  5. BYOND Key: KhalidtheGrey Staff BYOND Key: BakaGaijin Reason for complaint: Disrespectful conduct Evidence/logs/etc: This was done amongst other log stuff but this is all that was relevant (in my opinion) OOC: KhalidtheGrey: muh prayers! OOC: Bakagaijin: Prayers are not a guarantee. OOC: KhalidtheGrey: i know, but they worked OOC: KhalidtheGrey: i got mah googles OOC: Bakagaijin: No IC in OOC, OOC: KhalidtheGrey: it was basically an OOC thing before it even started in-game, not to mention I'm supposed to have them as a default OOC: KhalidtheGrey: ICly, i had them the whole time OOC: Bakagaijin: Stop it. OOC: KhalidtheGrey: i love when people attempt to end an argument with 'no' or 'stop it' or, my favorite, 'sht up' You have been muted from OOC. Primary Admin PM from-Bakagaijin: When I ask you to stop bragging or relaying stuff that you got ICly from prayers OOCly, you do so. PM to-Bakagaijin: perhaps if you actually dealt with that with a response i could even begin to respect, i would have PM to-Bakagaijin: respect is a two way street you know PM to-Bakagaijin: ya know i didnt realize i was bragging, if you poitned that out, i'd have apologized Primary Admin PM from-Bakagaijin: I asked you to stop, and you disrespected me by continuing. Because of this, I will keep you muted from OOC for the rest of the round. PM to-Bakagaijin: You disrespected me as well, im not kidding, i was offended, what i was talking about had no impact or relevence to the round and you just said 'stop it' without any actual explaination beyond 'no IC in OOC' which is was not in the first place Primary Admin PM from-Bakagaijin: I asked you to stop the first time and you continued. You get muted from OOC as a result. Next time when a staff member tells you to stop, you do so. End of discussion. PM to-Bakagaijin: To the forums then Additional remarks: The item in question is 'scanning goggles' a custom item with no function. I use them as a fixture for my character (Kamdiere Shamshael, think Geordi Laforge). The item, so far as I am aware, can only be obtained if you spawn as a roboticst, which I normally am, however I was librarian this round due to robotics being full. I ahelped through prayer to receive the goggles which are in my load-out at all times. I received them before the start of the logs cited. Here's my perspective on things, I spoke happily of receiving the item at the courtesy of the admins (no idea which one) which was an off-handed thank you. I was almost immediately told 'No IC in OOC.' and felt indignation in major part due to the fact that I was, in theory, supposed to have the item and it was basically a bug fix, not at all an IC matter and as far as in-game was concerned, I had them already from a role-playing perspective. I imagine the only grounds for this being a violation of the IC/OOC mix ban is because it happened this round and I mentioned it. At this point the back and forth went off, I didn't come to this server or this game to get talked down to or punished for having my own voice or sense of dignity like I'm this guy's kid when I doubt they are even three years older than me. By all rights, equals. Not to mention, I, personally, absolutely hate and think very lowly of those who attempt to end a debate or argument with something akin to 'shut up' or 'end of discussion', I view it as childish to be perfectly honest, and we're too old to be acting as such, especially if either of us are in any sort of a position of power. I will be the first to admit that I wasn't acting completely in the right, but I believe BakaGaijin behavior and how he handled the situation was disgraceful.
  6. i wasn't ranting, and if you cant recognize when something is over, i have over estimated you "...began raging when RNJesus decided a really fun virus was needed..." now im not very happy,i was not aware that someoen intentionally fucked the cultists, even if i wasnt a cultist i would /still/ demand that fuck head be banned fot at least a month, go fuck yourselves for allowing him to do it, go fuck yourselves for not banning him, fuck your server, im not going back, forget the appeal and go fuck yourself for bitching at the victims of this grief, i accepted it had happened and since the round was over, wanted to talk about it before we were engrossed in another round, but now that i find out someone did it intentionally while fully aware there were not geneticists or virologists, /now/ i actually am mad at everyone involved with this who was aware of the fact RNJesus infected the cult 'because it was fun' can go take a long walk over a cliff, no amount of IC in OOC could possibly affect the round as much as a PLAGUE that leaves you HELPLESS
  7. Side note, having Wittly's head was contingent on him even screwing with it in the first place.
  8. Thanks for checking Skull, I imagine it was a glitch or something along the lines of a time out... Regardless, I wasn't going to write ti all out /again/ till I was sure it was going to stick. By the way, exactly how fine would you be if you thought someone deleted your ban appeal before it could be considered? Especially if you spent half an hour writing it. Not to mention I made an account JUST so I could do this. Anyway, two main bits were mentioned in OOC that I was ragged on for, remarking that my character was above 50% and yes the only difference between him and a corpse was he had a pulse (which i thought was funny game 'logic'. The other bit was I mentioned plague (so did about half the other people talking in ooc) while the ERT could not have known about it despite it being about 5 seconds worth of logical deduction or a single medical scan. Anyway, Wittly and a couple others ragged on me and I (being who i am) would not simply keel over. I always use a rule of thumb for speaking about the rp in ooc, namely, 'Is it relevant? Would it change the game if everyone alive knew this information?' I had concluded no on all of the things I had mentioned and thus said them. Anyway, there was a minor debate that consisted of 'Follow the rules because they're the rules' vs. 'This rule is invalid currently'. As a simile i would compare it to jay walking when there is no one else in sight for a long distance. Yes, jay walking is bad and can get you killed as well as others, but it cant do that if there is nothing to hit you. Anyway, I was told that my non-compliance would be put on my record (the reason i even care about this, the ban was going to be up before this was over and i knew that from the start) and continued to press the lack of a legitimate reason to even bitch at me, the (Wittly) ignored me after a certain point and after a little while longer I poked at him calling him (basically) a coward. To which he responded by telling me im being banned for being disrespectful and then -banned for 24 hours-. I may have missed or forgotten some bits but that's the core of it
  9. BYOND Key: KhalidtheGrey Total Ban Length: 24 Hours Banning staff member's Key: Wittly Reason of Ban: IC in OOC and disrespecting a mod (however I believe he was being disrespectful as well) Reason for Appeal: It was the mop-up phase, nothing said in OOC was going to change the outcome at that point. Second time I've made this post, however the last one was much larger because I took the time to explain the entire situation. I'd like to know why it 'mysteriously vanished' If it happens again, I'll have Wittly's head for it.
