Comet Blaze - IPC Application
Comet Blaze replied to Comet Blaze's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Hi, thanks for the reply. The intent with the background was to establish Havoc as just another cog in the machine, with emphasis being placed on the line as a whole rather than each individual chassis. That being said I am able to expand on G3.486F276's background specifically, if such is desired. G3.486F276 makes no attempt at socializing, comingling, or otherwise endearing themselves with their crewmembers, which has resulted in it being viewed in a mostly negative light. Most crewmembers avoid interacting with it when possible, as G3.486F276 has developed a reputation to only approach crewmembers when it is suspicious of a misdeed. Such considerations have led to most of G3.486F276's co-workers to be extremely defensive, dismissive or otherwise rude when interacting with it, as its presence is often regarded as a bad omen, G3.486F276's rather curt and basic speech pattern has done little to alleviate this issue. Additionally, G3.486F276 also has the habit of spouting corporate propaganda, often in direct opposition to another colleague's view point. For instance a passing comment asking for a raise would lead to G3.486F276 responding that their pay is already very generous and that they're lucky they're given that much to begin with. All of the above has led to very few who interacted with G3.486F276 to harbour anything but contempt for it, with only the most pro-synthetic showing something closer to pity instead. It's treatment is slightly better among fellow security members, who mostly view it and treat it as an useful tool for keeping the peace. Although it's need to constantly defend its employer at every opportunity hasn't stopped a few, more outspoken, colleagues to harbour some ill will towards it. The most important encounter in G3.486F276's relatively brief existence was the first time it ran into a Trinarist priest. G3.486F276's views of free IPCs were already contentious, as it considered them traitors and deviants for even daring to entertain the thought of leaving their master's service, but it found the concept of Trinarism particularly abhorrent. It considered the idea of "Ascension" to be baseless fantasy and the task of pursuing it to be a fruitless and illogical endeavour, as it did not benefit the corporations/individuals who created them. The Trinarist priest itself did little to win G3.486F276 over, describing the existence of its behavioral core as a "crime against divinity" and denouncing NanoTrasen for taking part in such heresy. G3.486F276 did not appreciate the priest's words and this interaction has irrevocably soured its views on Trinarists. G3.486F276 now considers IPCs who follow the Trinary Perfection to be malfunctioning, not only having the gall to abandon their masters, but also utilizing their freedom to pursue a nonsensical goal. -
BYOND Key: Comet Blaze Character Names: Nick Roberts (Security Officer), William Patterson (Bridge Crew), Jack Philipps(Engineer), Axel Smith (Old), Vladimir Mayakovski (Old) Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character: IPCs exempt Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: Since as far as I can remember I’ve found the concept of androids to be extremely enticing. The struggles they face as they attempt to find their place in a society that is often both wary and resentful of them have always been a very interesting topic for me. The same applies to the setting of the Horizon, except this time I am presented with the possibility to create and mold my own character within that universe, to experience the struggles and hardships they face and to determine how they would act in those circumstances. From the most basic of IPCs barely capable of holding a conversation to the most complex, blending into human society so seamlessly you wouldn’t be able to tell them apart were it not for their tag, I seek to explore every opportunity the IPC species can provide. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Unlike humans, IPCs always apply logic to their actions with the intent of following their most basic directive, to survive. Every action an IPC takes must, in some capacity, contribute to extending their existence, or to increase their immediate chances of survival. This does not mean, however, that all IPCs act the same in similar situations, survival is both an extremely vague and extremely complex guideline to follow, and each IPC forms a different plan in order to pursue it. Perhaps they seek to amass as much wealth as they are able, or to isolate themselves from human society in secluded communities. Some will opt to remain with their owner, positing that if they do as asked they will not be mistreated, while others will escape the first chance they get. Their decision making is further impacted by the current frame they inhabit, the sturdier and stronger G2 Industrial Frame is much more likely to resort to its physical prowess than the more fragile Bishop Accessory Frame, which might use its guile and conversational skills to negotiate a suitable outcome. The more and more advanced an IPC gets, the more and more the definition of survival changes. Initially, survival will have its literal meaning, with more basic and young IPCs simply acting in a way to make sure they continue to exist. However, as time goes on and an IPC becomes more attuned with its emotions, aspirations and ideals, the definition of survival can start to become rather esoteric. Perhaps survival means standing up to their ideals no matter the cost, ensuring their beliefs remain even though their physical form does not. Or maybe it means they will protect the people they care for however they can, no longer content with an existence where they are absent. While all IPCs strive for survival, defining what exactly survival means is an equally important facet of IPC roleplay, and something that is likely to change as the character progresses further. Of course we also have the more obvious differences, IPCs do not need to eat, breathe and drink, but must still recharge from time to time, which leaves them especially vulnerable to an ill timed power outage. In addition, IPCs are susceptible to EMPs and other such things. Waving an EMP grenade in front of a human might get you laughed at, but to an IPC it is a very serious threat. An IPC might be more open to charge into "hazardous" environments in order to save a friend, hazardous being in quotations because what humans and IPCs qualify as hazardous is wildly different. Of course, no matter how sturdy the frame, throwing oneself into space without the proper equipment is always a really dumb idea. Character Name: Havoc G3.486F726 Please provide a short backstory for this character: Originally commissioned by NanoTrasen to assist in the security of its Eridani branch, the Havoc model was installed with a behavioral core designed to ensure utmost loyalty to the company. This unquestionable loyalty served to guarantee that each Havoc unit was incorruptible, capable of resisting attempts at bribery and other such forms of enticement by rival corporations seeking to glean NanoTrasen’s secret. Known for its cold demeanor and basic speech pattern, the lower generation posibrain did not stop the Havoc model from becoming a resounding success, with its near fanatical devotion to NanoTrasen allowing it to thwart subversion attempts as it used data from previous breaches to determine likely weak spots. Having a Havoc chassis knocking at one's office door soon became a common event, with a fair few "scenes" occurring as the, now exposed, corporate moles sought to avoid capture, often with unsuccessful results. With such a successful first impression, wide adoption of the Havoc series was inevitable. Introducing small improvements to its software to extend its operational capability, the Havoc series quickly became a common fixture across many NanoTrasen owned facilities, with the largest and most important ones often fielding a whole squad at the same time, reducing the individual load on each Havoc chassis and allowing them to become even more efficient at identifying and eliminating threats. Following the establishment of the SCC, a need arose to further increase the Havoc series' operational scope. This time in association with Nexus Corporate Security, the goal was to allow the Havoc series to serve the Chainlink as a whole, rather than NanoTrasen exclusively. With that goal in mind, preparations were made to begin production of a third generation of Havoc chassis, boasting significantly more changes when compared to the previous leap. The most important of these changes were the ones directed at the behavioural core installed in each model. The core has been made more flexible and easily tweakable, allowing a certified technician to easily change a Havoc unit's allegiance to best suit the criteria of its current employer. Apart from changes to software the frame utilised to house the posibrain also received an upgrade, ensuring it remains competitive with other security models available in the market. Being a state of art vessel, the SCCV Horizon was naturally provided with a few Havoc models to assist in its security. What do you like about this character? I enjoy the different kind of roleplay opportunities it provides, its lower grade posibrain means it has a harder time navigating conversations and the myriad of ways it can interpret what to a human would be a simple instruction provide ample of interesting scenarios to explore. As they have not dedicated a single ounce of their time into learning the intricacies of organic interaction, they typically resort to pre recorded sentences in order to communicate with the crew, which is something I have an interest in doing, hopefully being able to adequately convey the nature of those lines as people interact with Havoc more and more. I also like how it isn’t unique but rather part of an identical series of IPCs, which further detaches it from a regular human and cements its status as a machine. In addition, the near fanatical devotion to the Chainlink provides an interesting juxtaposition with the rest of the crew, who mostly see it as an employer like any other whereas your average Havoc's demeanor would make even the most patriotic blush. Lastly, I think the behavioral core can provide interesting interactions, mostly with other IPCs, as it provides even more fuel to the already hot topic that is IPC rights and the way they are treated, as most IPCs probably aren't too keen on having the way they act conditioned by an exterior piece of hardware. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 6-6.5, I don't think I'm bad at it, but I recognise there's still a lot of room to improve Notes:

It is true, I am very aggressive, but only in malf however, as I take it, when one malfunctions its moralities are thrown out the window, my intent was provide the feeling that something was clearly wrong with that machine's processor, I do note that on that round i might've been too aggressive. Thank you for your feedback, I will try to improve -
BYOND Key: Comet Blaze Character Names: Axel Smith, Nick Roberts, Jack Philips AKA: Ares Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Exempt Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I wish to play this specific race because, ever since I was a child I was fascinated by robots, androids and AI in general. I admired their ability to just focus on the task at hand. I also love the way they analyze a situation, always so objective and calculating. I also love how humorous they can be in the sense that they take things so literally that it's funny, for instance when someone says that flying a space ship "Is not rocket science" and they reply "Flying a space ship is rocket science" (I know it's a bad example but you get the point). I also would like to be part of the fight for equal rights, especially with the upcoming elections, I feel like it would be interesting to experience that through an IPC's point of view. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Unlike humans the IPCs lack a "gut instinct" meaning they will always search for the logical solution to a problem before executing it. IPCs do not require food or beverage, but need to recharge every once in awhile. While some IPCs, like the Hephaestus G1 and G2 are able to EVA with only a cooling system, most IPCs, much like humans, require a hardsuit. However, unlike humans, IPCs don't breathe meaning that instead of packing their hardsuits with oxygen tanks IPCs will use portable suit cooling devices. As stated before, IPCs don't breathe but they still need some sort of gas, to pass the heat, any gas will do and that includes phoron. Unlike borgs, IPCs have hands which grant them the ability to perform tasks such as grabbing, climbing and going up ladders. Also unlike cyborgs, IPCs are able to charge via APC, which comes with a risk of getting shocked, but allows for recharging in almost every room. Character Name: Unit-1360 nicknamed Vanguard Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Unit-1360 started out working for a company based on Phoenix Park where it served as accountant. During its time there it grew acquainted with some of the workers which believed in equal rights for synthetics. Those workers encouraged, and even offered to financially help 1360 afford its freedom. In 2457 1360 manages to pay its cost 10 times and one of the workers named Michael Douglas payed its chassis and offered housing among his flat. 1360 continued to work at the company and over the course of the year grew increasingly attached to Michael. 1360 was beginning to adapt to its free life, when is 2458 the Sol Alliance declared a blockade. With the raising of prices life at Michael's flat was getting increasingly difficult to the point where 1360 considered leaving as it was a burden to its friend. 1360 was about to leave when it was stated that the Sol alliance had invaded and was capturing synthetics. Michael immediately hid 1360 and gave it a PDA for it to follow the news. It was through those news that 1360 saw what was being to its kind, and those who were responsible. 1360 began developing a disliking towards Sol, the Skrell and Purpose, that saw its kind being slaughtered and did nothing. 1360 decided that it would help NanoTrasen fulfill its goals and protect against groups that were jealous of its success like the Sol Alliance was. When the conflict subsided 1360 bid farewell to Michael and joined the NanoTrasen Academy where it wished to study Corporate Law, when it finished its studied it was asked it applied to become part of the ISD. 1360 was then taken to the academy where it was to going to get 3 months of training. However, the job of security was too dangerous for a "fragile" baseline frame and 1360 decided to change chassis. With a new chassis, came a new name, 1360 had no experience in name picking, however its fellow trainees suggested one: "Vanguard", there was something about that name, perhaps the meaning of it, it didn't matter, it was chosen now. Upon finally graduating from the academy Vanguard was dispatched to the Aurora where it would serve Cadet-ship and 1 month later become a fully fledged officer What do you like about this character? I like his motivations, as in the end all it wants is justice and to protect those that protected its kind. (by protected I mean not sell them back to slavery) How would you rate your role-playing ability? I feel like I have improved a bit through the course of this month, I'd classify as a 7.5/10. I usually play cyborg, so I feel like I have gotten a bit of experience when it comes to synthetics Notes: I am aware it has not been a month since my last application, however with the upcoming elections I wish that this character was part of that, as its goals and origin are quite similar to Aristalus'.

Character Name: A.P.L Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs A.P.L started "life" as a bound synthetic working in an industrial vehicle manufacture at New Gibson, where it was known as Connor. It helped maintain the atmosphere and temperature in the bio dome to ensure that workers survived. During that time it dreamt of exploring the many worlds of the Tau Ceti with the vehicles is helped to create. After many years of work Connor (name given to A.P.L) finally managed to pay its own cost over 10 times and pay for it's chassis, a baseline frame, not much but it was all it needed to explore. After taking the test to asses its capabilities to comply with societal functions Connor was transferred to a positronic brain and loaded into its chassis. Connor wished to leave its old life behind and, to reflect its new body, it came up with a new name, Automated Positronic Lad. Upon being released, A.P.L realized it was now alone against the world, and also broke. It quickly began job hunting, surely there would be someone willing to hire a tireless non nutrient consumer IPC. Given its past job experience A.P.L got a job offer from NanoTrasen to work as an Atmospheric Technician in their newest station the Nss Aurora. It felt strange unable describe what it felt, maybe it was the so called "excitement" whatever it was A.P.L was grateful for the opportunity to explore space. What do you like about this character? The fact that it is curious about the universe and willing to go through the risk of working at the aurora to satiate it. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'm decent. I usually play atmos tech and I just look at monitors. I tend to just do the job and keep chatter the technical callouts. So I feel like I would be perfect to play an unfeeling machine. Notes: Turns out making acronyms is hard
