  1. About the tactics - I'm not a military strategist, and I'm implying that I just want to reduce the quantity of human wave tactics - when things like an assault occur, this happens very often. For an example - I want to move 2 officers to the bridge and try to grab antags attention, while moving 2 other officers through maints to make antags disperse and reduce their ability to hold the position, while being attacked from both directions, thus making them retreat or surrender. Only works when the antags are holding the captain hostage in his office, for an example. About the Tau Ceti lore - I'm sorry about that, I fucked up, I guess. Maybe I'm going to rewrite it if I have time. Reducing validhunting is a task which is actually hard, as almost any player is feeling just AN IMMEDIATE NEED TO KILL THE ANTAG FIRST, but can be made through teaching security to actually care more about the crew, not about the antags (Watching over them in cameras, yelling if they try to chase after antags, et cetera.) Still thinking of more ways.
  2. BYOND key: Turret_Drehturm Character names: George Patterson, Lauren Kiefer, Isabelle Taggart. Keagan Mccune, Oliver Pratt, Talon Schaeffer. I use the name CLANKER for my borg and DRODAN if I'm playing AI. How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Well, being perfectly honest, in summer I played 1 month of Aurora, then I got permabanned because I logged off in middle of PMs from a moderator. My unban application says it all. After I got unbanned a month ago, I was playing almost non-stop on the server. If I didn't get permabanned I would be playing it when I could. In total - 5 months. Not much, but I learned a lot on other servers and on Baystation. I don't know if I can put that here, but I'm in RP for 6 years now (what a waste of life), but on other games. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Well, first all, I'd like to TRY to make security stop being mostly (not all of them, obviously) validhunters (as the HoS) and try to make security more "tactical" (not as in, making them wear something like this - ( camo clothes | gordon freeman's son | 3 laser guns on his back | cool ), but making them use some tactics that would look realistic. Command security to protect the crew, and make them that they don't try to be heroes. As for the CMO - it's basic, I'll try to organize medical department to make them effectively use chemicals and bandages, basically making everything to be used rationally and making surgeons do surgery, et cetera. IF I get to play as the Captain - command the station properly, watch over the crew, basic captain stuff. Why did you come to Aurora?: Being perfectly honest - I got invited by friends to play SS13, then I stumbled upon this server. As being stated previously, I was in RP for 6 years, and I decided to try it out. Well, it was fun. I didn't even know how to do janitor things. Thankfully I learned. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes, I did, thoroughly. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? As stated above, I did get permabanned once for logging off when staff bwoinked me. (https://forums.aurorastation.org/topic/11141-turrets-permanent-unban-appeal/ - my appeal.) I got 2 warnings and I acknowledged them. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Give a definition of what you think roleplay is and should be about: First of all, roleplay is about trying to actually imitate playing as your character, as in, you need to think - what would my character do if this was in real life? How would it go with my character's temper? And the list goes on. That's what roleplay is. You need to provide a sense of realism in order to actually roleplay. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Provide support to players that are new to the department you're currently leading, and to provide realism to the station, obviously - I don't think there would be space stations with, for example, security with no leader. To make sure that anyone from your department doesn't fuck up when acting accordingly to his role. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Provide greater roleplaying experience to your department, make decisions that will progress the round further, manage your department and the station. As stated above, make sure new players roleplay properly, serve as an example of how to manage the station and how to roleplay properly and accordingly. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau Ceti and how it affected your character and their career? Tension is rising sky-high with the Lii'dra attack on Sol, and the threat of the former admiral Frost. George Patterson is originally from Mars, and it's known that people on it have a disregard for the law. Mars is a harsh and a cruel world, with a lot of criminal organizations and with corruption having it's roots everywhere in government structures. But he also saw that even if xenos are hard to understand - humans can do the same. People from all species can marauder, thief, assassinate. And he took a neutral position, judging people not by their race, but by their doings. Lauren Kiefer is from Earth - a rather peaceful, greeny world. She thinks that xenos should be accepted, even if they look different from us. Talon Schaeffer was always rather neutral to xenos, but, as they grow more and more aggressive and insolent, he started embracing the idea of humans being the first race in the galaxy. He was always hiding that. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Only HoS for now. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: George Patterson - Head of Security. Lauren Kiefer - MAYBE CMO, I just need to play medical more currently. Talon Schaeffer - 0.001% chance of being captain - he's just created to use for command and no one except me knows about him. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I would rate it 8/10, and I have nothing much to add. My characters range from a depressive edgy scientist to a rather talkative, but dumb security officer. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes, obviously, and I want to try to make it permanent for me. (Yes, that sounds aggressive.) Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes, of course, I did. Extra notes: I may seem new and unknown, but I already familiarized myself with functions of all of the departments. I am really trying to make my RP look as realistic as possible.
  3. BYOND Ckey: Turret_Drehturm. Total Ban Length: Permanent. Banning staff member's ckey: readthisnameplz. Reason of ban: When a staff member contacts you, do not log off in middle of in the middle of PM's. You had bombed departures via explosive implant with little to no escalation/interaction with the crew in departures. While conflict in departures is usually acceptable, it is not this time. You could have vented departures on top of it all. Reason for appeal: Well, first of all, I would like to state that I tried using different ckey's to join back, but didn't switch computers. My current ckey is the third one, and I lost password for the first ones. (Turret_Cool and FineCupOfCoffee, to be clear). Second of all, this was my first time being a traitor not just on Aurora, but in SS13 in general. Yes, I know, it's not justifying me, as I could've just disabled becoming an antag in the settings, but I wanted to try it so much and forgot that it's a HardRP server. I absolutely agree that my ban was justified, as I could've just finished the round and completed my final objective - which was, escaping on a shuttle. Even before that, there was an incident with me as a security officer, shooting a janitor with rubber bullets when he had a wand of nothing. My bad, again - I was a complete newbie. As of logging out when a staff member PMed me - I understood that I didn't have any logical reason to blow myself up in middle of departures and was embarassed. I DID NOT want to grief. 2 months from my ban passed, and now I know all the rules and how to play properly. I was playing on some other servers for some time, and I promise you, my actions won't repeat. As of trying to use different ckey's - didn't work. And if they worked, I wouldn't grief or do any harmful actions - I just liked Aurora so much, I wanted to return. Aurora was my first server in SS13, my friends invited me to it - it was really fun, and it's not clunky as other RP servers are. With the months that passed, my skills in RP and just general knowledge of SS13 raised drastically - that's why I am appealing.
