  1. A stylish young man, wandering from place to place as a snake oil salesman. The child of a single mother, as his father, a soldier, died shortly after his birth. Worked in [insert generic manual labor here] to support his mother, while selling his toad blood based health tonics on the side or whatever. Marvelously good at persuading people that he's right and everyone else is wrong. He dresses in clothes fitting for a person of great wealth, despite being a landless merchant. Think heavy capes of bright colours and those borsalino caps with the feathers in them. His figure is decently well built, though not one of a combatant. Though he will usually manipulate his way out of a direct confrontation, if it's necessary he will draw a one handed sword from it's sheath, one encrusted with various jewels and with a hilt of gold and all other sorts of fancy things, leaving his other hand free to perform various rude gestures. He has a conspicuously fancy and long name for a lowborn. (Will edit more as ideas come to me)
  2. Worked on the ending some. It still sucks, but it's better.
  3. Cres is a great player and, more importantly, a great roleplayer. All of her characters I've come into contact with have felt alive, the opposite of a lot of cardboard cutout characters I've seen running around. I can get behind this.
  4. BYOND Key:Saddemiboys Character Names:Sicily Vagrant, Aruzhan Tsoi, Isaisha Holtzmann, Veniamin Tikhonov Species you are applying to play:Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt):Wheat-ish. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?:I've read all of the lore pages, but I kinda just skimmed the Skrell one. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race:I've suddenly found myself interested with their lore. Also, I'd like to break the notion that Tajara players must belong to a certain clan or family, to allow more people to be interested in the species without worrying about being accepted by any certain Tajara cliques. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:Tajara come from a very different environment from the rest of the civilized interstellar community. Similarly to the Unathi, the Tajara homeworld was engulfed in a large scale war, though much more recently, with the effects far more prevalent even into the modern day. Being adapted to a subarctic environment means that Tajara are very particularly sensitive about heat, to the point of their fur prickling up at even slightly higher than room temperature. Tajara are also very tight knit, often knowing of and interacting with families on the opposite side of a city. Also, he speaks in the thirrrd perrrson. Character Name:Anand Rahal Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphsAnand is a M'sai Tajara born to a family of soldiers and scouts, calling his home the outskirts of Nal'tor. Being born a mere four years after the war has had a profound impact on his psyche. A large portion of his childhood was spent with other families, helping them clean away remnants of conflict and repair damaged infrastructure. During this time, a sense of needing to be a part of something helpful was ingrained in his mind, regardless of physical risk. As he also had very little schooling as a child, hardly any of it traditional, he never quite learned how to read or write particularly well. In his early adulthood, Anand found work in a risky field- minesweeping and trap disarming, thinking basic menial labor at the hands of vast Interstellar states to be above him, for whatever reason. An important part of any expanding Tajara settlement was ensuring that areas that had been engaged in conflict were safe to resettle. This involved large amounts of minesweeping and ensuring all buildings were free of traps such as shotguns attached to tripwires and grenades hidden under objects. Granted, this has also lead to the injuries and fatalities of many Tajara scouts. Anand, a risk taker who would do anything to support his people, took the job without hesitation, his M'sai physiology perfect for his work. For the past two years, Anand has made his way around various NanoTrasen space stations in the S'rand'marr system as a janitor and cargo worker. Only recently has he immigrated to the Republic, on accounts of him wishing to see the world outside of the S'rand'marr system and to learn about it's wonderful fleshy, scaly and squishy inhabitants. What do you like about this character? He's caring, trusting, and protective, but often throws himself into reckless danger. Also, he has problems reading, which could lead to some interesting situations. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Good, I've played for quite a while and overcome quite a few of my problems. Notes:I might work on finishing the extremely rushed ending. I'm sleepy.
  5. Sicily Vagrant- Probably one of my better known characters. The Indo-African geneticist with dark red hair. Warm and accepting, but breaks down under even a little stress. Under heavy stress she has seizures and vomits. Deist. Marisa Fabron- The red haired Swiss-French nurse and was the honorary station Rabbi at one point. Had a cybernetic sensor eyepatch thing that covered her cybernetic infrared eye. Outspoken and independent, hates racists and fascists with a burning passion. When confronted by something she doesn't like she tends to get hot and heavy. Flings insults over the radio sometimes. Went missing after an incident involving a mass shooting at a Xeno acceptance rally. Jewish. Aruzhan Tsoi- A Kazakh scientist. Born in the Trimurti asteroid belt, on a shady asteroid colony. Kind of still working on her as I go. Has to have her hands in pockets, and only coat pockets. Jumpsuit pockets will not work. If deprived of a coat with pockets, she gets very anxious, and can be seen wiggling her fingers and shaking her hands. Cannot bring herself to shake hands with another person, and will only grab their fingers, as she hates the feel of human palms. Other than that, she's very socially competent and has no problems interacting with people. Sunni Muslim.
  6. Also, if anyone would like to make this more plausible sounding, please, go ahead. I'm a molecular biologist, not a physicist.
  7. Type (e.g. Planet, Faction, System): Natural Law. Founding/Settlement Date (if applicable): Discovered in 2153, practical to use by 2230. Region of Space:Controlled by (if not a faction): The known universe. Other Snapshot information: The Bhowmick-Mukherji Effect is a natural law governing the properties of bodies on the quantum scale, similar and related to the Weak and Strong nuclear forces. Similarly to the electromagnetic force, the Bhowick-Mukherji Effect (henceforth called the B-M Effect) has two charges, and a neutral state. A negative B-M charge acts as a short range attractor, pulling matter and energy towards the point, similarly to gravity, but not dependent on mass, and planar, not spherical. A positive B-M charge acts as a short range repeller, pushing matter and energy away from the point. A body with no B-M charge, or a neutral charge, will have no effect on it's surroundings. Long Description: The Bhowmick-Mukherji Effect was discovered in 2153, by a pair of Lunar researchers working with high energy, high mass particle colliders. They discovered a new fundamental natural force when working with super-dense neutral fluid, discovering it to exert a repellent force on nearby neutral particles, unrelated to electromagnetism or either nuclear force. Although this force would not be practical to use in technology for decades to come, as it was restricted to appearing only in very high energy bodies, the possibilities of it's use were incredible. Negative B-M force fields could allow artificial gravity to be created, opening the way for non rotating space habitats and a new breed of high energy atomic fusion reactors. Positive B-M force fields could allow powerful hovercraft, super high cutting power force blades, and non material armoring, the two of which are commonly found in the modern day as E-swords and energy shields. The technology was made viable with the discovery of Plasma, a unique, exotic matter crystal that, due to it's bizarre subatomic makeup, retained a B-M force field no matter what state of matter it was in.
