  1. Thanks for the response! I'm working on answers to all these questions now.
  2. BYOND Ckey: Cash7800 Discord username: Cash7800 Character names: Mania Haller, Za'Akaix Eek Zo'ra Species you are applying to play: IPC ------------------------------ General Whitelist Requirements What colour do you plan on making your first alien character?: N/A Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this species?: I enjoy IPC lore and want to interact with it more. Fictional robots are interesting to me. The game mechanics of IPCs look fun, especially with the recent re-work. The character concepts I could make using IPC lore. IPCs can get wildly different interactions with and reactions from characters. What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: IPCs thought processes are radically different from humans. Humans often do things without really thinking them through, this is impossible for an IPC. Everything an IPC does is deliberate and thought out. IPCs decisions can all be tied back to their self-preservation directive, though their idea on what the directive actually means can shift and change over time. IPCs form social bonds differently from humans, they always have a practical reason in mind for forming connections with other people. IPCs start out fully functional, but also as complete blank-slates personality-wise, developing over time from experience, and observing other people's behaviors. A newly created IPC could have a hard time socializing, while an older one could be almost indistinguishable from a human in mannerisms. ------------------------------ Character Application Character Name: Forbearance Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon. Dawn was manufactured in 2459 as a shell frame. Marketed as a cheap option she was bought that same year by some enterprising restaurant owners from the Meredine Arcology on Mars. Dawn didn’t come with anything but the most basic datapacks, and had to be taught almost everything about her job by her fellow employees. For almost a year, she served customers and developed her social skills and ability to interact with people. Over time, she was given more and more responsibilities at the restaurant, and ended up doing all the work of several other employees, causing them to lose their jobs. Unaware of any problems she had caused for anyone, Dawn continued developing her skills and was made to take on more and more work. On her way back making a deposit on the loan that was used to purchase her in the first place, Dawn was accosted by several former co-workers who made their intention to vandalize her in order to cause financial harm to her employer known. Overworked as she was, Dawn didn’t have enough energy left to run away. The disgruntled former employees were eventually chased off by passers-by, but the damage was already done. Dawn was returned to her owners later that day, in a barely functional state. Her power cell was badly damaged, and she couldn’t hold a charge for more than a few minutes at a time. Dawn's owners were facing financial ruin, all the money they had spent and would continue spending on her was made worthless, and they couldn’t possibly afford the repairs Dawn would need. Frantically trying to come up with a way to to recoup at least some of their losses, they concocted a plan to burn down the restaurant and Dawn with it, collecting the insurance money for both. Left without most of her senses because of her critically low power-cell, the first indication to Dawn that anything was wrong was her rising core temperature, and then the touch of the flames. Authorities managed to put the fire out, but Dawn’s frame had already been practically ruined, the synthskin almost entirely melted, fused to the frame, and none of the limbs still functional. After confirming her apparent destruction, Dawn was unceremoniously dumped in a scrapyard some way away from the arcology, where e-waste was discarded. But Dawn wasn’t dead. Her posibrain had survived, and she was now alone with her thoughts for an indeterminate amount of time, left to dwell on what had happened. With so little life experience, she found it almost impossible to process events, and had nothing to do except replay events in her mind, fruitlessly trying to think of some way she could have avoided what had happened, even though it was already too late. Who could have predicted what the humans would do? Everything had seemed like it was going fine. After ruminating for an indeterminate amount of time, Dawn was found by a group of scrappers and re-activated. She was offered a simple choice, that wasn’t really one at all. Join their group in exchange for whatever repairs they could offer, or be salvaged for parts. Vexation stayed with the first scrapper gang she had encountered, adapting to a lifestyle of scrounging for spare parts and power cells. At first she was wondering how she would re-integrate with society, but eventually came to the logical conclusion that being a scrapper was somehow safer than that. She knew where everyone stood, everyone had a shared interest in working together to survive. Either way, there was no hope of re-integration anyway, with the condition her frame was in, she would be obvious to any human as a scrapper. All Vexation was left with was impotent anger, there was nothing she could do to meaningfully change her situation. As far as she could tell, she would continue like this for the rest of her life. After about two years, she thought that their gang might be going places, having migrated to a much richer scrap-yard around the Argyre Arcology. Just when things were starting to look up, the world ended. A wave of fire washed across the horizon. The gang had sought shelter in the Argyre Arcology itself, but it was destroyed, most of the humans the flames didn’t reach died from phoron contamination anyway. The scrappers in and around the ruined arcology fared somewhat better, there was a new abundance of spare parts. Unable to find any way to escape the situation as it deteriorated, the gangs of scrappers in the area had to compete more and more aggressively with each other to survive. Aid arrived in the form of the IAC. While Vexation found it difficult to trust humans at all, logic dictated that leaving with them was the only real option. The scrappers rescued by the IAC were faced with two options, working for Nanotrasen with the theoretical chance to buy their freedom, eventually. Or, join the Tau Ceti Foreign Legion. Vexation had long since decided she couldn’t afford to be under the thumb of humans, so even with Biesel's form of freedom for IPCs being a relatively new concept for her, she decided that aiming for that would be the best option for long-term survival. Vexation would be assigned to the Foreign Legion security forces, and spent her first three years in the service guarding various installations. For the first time in her life, she had a large amount of free time, and didn’t know what to do with herself at first. Eventually, she took to reading, in an attempt to figure out how the world worked, and learn why things are the way they are. Vexation also had to re-learn socializing with organics, and make an effort to conceal her distrust of humans. Three years on, nearing the end of her first term, Vexation had risen to the rank of Senior Legionnaire, and was thinking of different ways she would move on with her life after attaining freedom. There was a major problem that had to be factored into her plans. Vexation’s frame was practically falling apart, it was a miracle that it had been able to go on for so long. The routine maintenance from Legion machinists was free of charge, but that wouldn’t be the case after she left the service. Luckily, an opportunity found her. Vexation was given the opportunity to re-enlist, but she would have to take on a higher-risk role in an IPC infiltration unit deployed to the Corporate Reconstruction Zone. Weighing the variables, it still seemed like the best option for her. Vexation’s frame would need to be totally refurbished for her to pass as a human, lessening any maintenance issues down the line. This next term of service would be more eventful than the previous one for Forbearance, but she was also gaining a lot of useful experience dealing with humans. Forbearance continued developing her perspective, and came to the conclusion that for the sake of her continued existence, she would need to continue working with Biesel and the associated megacorporations. Forbearance was able to line up a job with the SCC well in advance of her departure, as they worked closely with the Tau Ceti Armed Forces. Having finished her second term, and nearing the end of her journey so far, she approaches the SCCV Horizon. How have the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? Events such as the Phoron Scarcity, the Solarian Collapse or even the Invasions of Biesel for interstellar-wide affairs, while region-specific events such as the Peacekeeper Mandate, The Titan Rises or even Cold Dawn may impact your character. The phoron scarcity has affected Forbearance greatly, being one of the factors behind Violet Dawn, and extremely important in the modern day. In her assessment, Biesel is one of the only human nations offering any chance of freedom to IPCs. Nanotrasen, and by association, Biesel, heavily rely on the phoron trade, making Horizons mission important to the continued survival of Biesel, and important to Forbearance. The Peacekeeper arc was basically one big opportunity for Forbearance to move up in the world, and she is keenly aware of the fact that her gain was someone else's loss, with many former Solarian territories not exactly satisfied with the occupation. How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? Forbearance is outwardly completely supportive of megacorporations, but has a complicated internal debate about them. They’re technically responsible for all the suffering inflicted on her, and many other IPCs. But their puppet state, Biesel, is one of the only polities moving towards a policy of freedom for IPCs. In her assessment, being an enemy of megacorporations would put one on the side of Sol, which is absolutely opposed to any kind of acknowledgement of personhood for IPCs. This is not to say that Forbearance will only look out for the interests of corporations, she wants to do right by as many people as possible. Addendum: Forbearance had a few name changes throughout the story, and I couldn’t really find a place I liked to put them in. She changed her name twice to suit her general attitude about the worlds and things.

  4. Talking up french protestors has been a thing for a while and I didn't think it would be a big deal, I don't have any knowledge about their political situation I just thought they looked cool. I don't even remember what Garn typed exactly but it didnt seem as egregious to me as the later messages were, and I thought a response would be fine.
  5. BYOND Key: Cash7800 Staff BYOND Key: Roostercat Game ID: Reason for complaint: I never talked about harming protestors, the topic of conversation just reminded me of this thing I remembered where some french firefighters set themselves on fire in all their firefighter gear and then put it out and I thought it looked cool, I don't think they were hurt and I have never made any statements glorifying or condoning violence against protestors. I wasn't aware this topic of conversation was such a big issue in the discord recently, and when Fyni told us about it I deleted the picture I had posted, found in the article below. I don't really think it's graphic or anything though. Evidence/logs/etc: Here is the article where I found the picture for reference https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jan/28/french-police-clash-with-firefighters-during-paris-protest Additional remarks: Here is the ban reason:
  6. Amelia Dresden called sec earlier in the round then later Liam Knight PDAd me about it, and I can confirm there weren't any acting CMOs.
  7. BYOND key: Cash7800 Discord Username: Cash7800 Character names: Za'Akaix'Eek Zo'ra Grace Navin Clarity Beck How long have you been playing on Aurora? For a few years I think. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I've recieved a bunch of warnings and one antag ban. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame? To me, the purpose of a Head of Staff ingame is to keep everyone on the same page, and make sure there are fun roleplaying opportunities. Heads of Staff should facilitate interactions across departments, and figure out things to do. Steering the round in a good direction and giving people interesting decisions to make is something I think a Head of Staff should be doing. There is a balancing factor to this, as players should be given the chance to do their own roleplay without overbearing Heads of Staff interrupting them constantly. Humoring antag gimmicks in a believable way is something Heads of Staff have to do a lot. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them? Ensuring new players are getting guidance on gameplay mechanics and getting a chance to roleplay is important. Command Whitelisted players should accept good faith feedback and criticisms and take them into account. Breaking the rules with powergaming, metagaming, poor escalation, or unbelievable roleplay as a Head of Staff can be even more harmful to the round than as a normal player, and it is even more important than usual to avoid this. Shutting out other players from antag gimmicks or roleplay opportunities should be avoided as much as possible. Command having a meeting with antags for an hour instead of letting them do their gimmick is something I want to avoid. Explain how the recent events in the Spur changed your character and how they came to be employed on the SCCV Horizon. After a short-lived attempt at Stardom, Mania Haller resigned herself to the Venusian Planetary Police Force. Haller worked in the VPD for some time, standing around at the appropriate venues and overlooking the proper crimes she was getting a degree in Criminal Psychology on the side. Haller wanted to be a corporate investigator somewhere far away from Binyara, maybe Venus altogether. Her plans were sidetracked by nearly a decade of political turmoil in Sol, a series of of rogue admirals, fascist takeovers, an economic collapse, and even civil war. After years of dealing with limited options, and much further along in her VPD career than she expected, she managed to qualify for a management position on the SCC Horizon. That would surely take her as far away from Venus as anything, right? What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Head of Security for now, If I try out other command roles I will play around in those departments more beforehand. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes, I have read the command role wiki pages. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking: Mania Haller, Head of Security Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes, I understand that my whitelist is not permanent and could be stripped due to administrative action. Have you linked your BYOND account to the Forums? I think so? I was able to log into my forums account through the game, so probably.

I apologize for my unacceptable behavior towards Roostercat in the ahelps, and I think I have a better understanding of antag escalation how to involve the crew.
  9. Eek agrees with the tenets of the Phalanx Doctrine and does its best to follow them. It takes whatever augments offered to it easily, and tries to build trust and communicate properly with others. Adapting to new situations not covered by its training can be difficult. Eek imagines it is ready to sacrifice itself, but that remains untested, and it struggles to act on it's own initiative, often looking for the guidance of more experienced Phalanx members. Eek believes in working together with the other Vaurca hives and thinks the Phalanx will be useful for all Vaurca. (Except Lii'dra)
  10. Eek General Whitelist Requirements What color do you plan on making your first alien character?: (Orange) Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this species?: I think Vaurca look pretty cool and I like how they talk. Seeing Vaurca characters being played and interacting with them has been fun. I enjoy their lore about how far their civilization has fallen from its prime, and I'm excited to see what happens to them in the future. I'm especially interested in how things will play out from the perspective of a Vaurca. I'm interested in the mechanics of the Vaurca where they breathe phoron and don't heal on their own normally. What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: Vaurca face a lot of discrimination from Humans and other species in the Spur, who want to exploit them while also not allowing Vaurca to become too powerful. They might not understand some concepts which are obvious to humans. For example, loyalty not being a given for humans. Vaurca won't struggle with any doubts about their religion or similar, knowing they will probably return to VR at the end of their lives. That doesn't mean Vaurca aren't averse to pain or don't care when other Vaurca die. ------------------------------ Character Application Character Name: Za'Akaix'Eek Zo'ra Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived at the SCCV Horizon. Spawned October 16th 2464 Eek was selected through Imagotis by a Ta of Athvur’s brood to be a Warrior for the newly formed Ve'katak Phalanx. Hatching in late 2465 Eek went through VR training and went through varied combat training and simulations. Eek was also primed with information about Vaurca and Human culture and history. Trained to a passable standard by early 2466 Eek was not slated to be sent anywhere yet. Eek was left to immerse itself in various VR Realms and was particularly enthralled by the Heroes of Tau Ceti one. It gained some sense of Bieselite patriotism from this and also became interested in various Human media. Finally leaving VR Eek was scheduled to be deployed to the SCCV Horizon. Eek practiced real-life combat while in transit, and in its spare time enjoyed various Bieselite sports broadcasts. Finally arriving at the SCCV Horizon Eek is excited to interact with more Humans. Eek is eager to learn more and get better at interacting with other species in the Spur. Above all Eek wants to impress everyone, and prove itself to the Athvur Brood and Hive Zo’ra, but Eek feels somewhat out of place among the warriors of other, more prestigious broods. Eek will often try to seek the advice of more senior warriors, and often try to emulate them in its quest to serve Athvur adequately. How have the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? Information about recent events shaped Eeks opinions on the political and economic situation in the spur. Eek thinks that if the Tupii-K’lax brood prevails in the War in Heaven, K’lax relations with the Zo’ra would improve. The founding of the Ve’katak Phalanx is the reason Eek exists. Eek firmly supports President Dorn’s re-election campaign now that High Queen Vaur is his running mate. The lack of support for Dorn among Humans is confusing to Eek, and it will be sure to inquire about it with any Bieselite Humans it can find. How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? Eek is excited to make itself useful to the Ve’katak Phalanx. It doesn't have strong feelings about PMCG itself but is intrigued by many of the subsidiary PMCs. Eek is interested in the Dagamuir Freewater Forces because of their K'lax Vaurca and impressed by the prowess of Unathi warriors. Eek hopes to learn more about Human cultures from the various Eridani, Coalition, and Solarian PMCs as well.
  11. Actually can I just repost this at a later date with better formatting and more stuff? I'm kind of busy right now and struggling to come up with things.
  12. Thanks for responding. I'll have that updated by tomorrow.
  13. 1. I wasn't really trying to do it bullet-point style but I was typing it out on notepad and the line reached the end of my screen really quickly. 2. Eek is from the Athvur brood and this contributes to its fascination with human media and culture. 3. I imagine Eek as excited to meet new people and learn about them, I think that fits with the Athvur brood and will be good for roleplay opportunities. Eek holds the other Zo'ra queens in high regard. Eek idolizes the Zoleth brood especially as good examples of warriors to aspire to, it is friendy to K'lax Vaurca as well. Eek dislikes the C'thur but would not intentionally do anything to offend their Ta or disparage their queens. Thanks for correcting me about the vaurca having doubts and frustrations with their assigned roles.

Information about recent events shaped Eeks opinions on the political and economic situation in the spur. It is worried about how the phoron shortage might impact the Zo'ra Hive and Biesel. The events leading to the formation of the Ve'katak Phalanx have lead to Eek having some dislike for C'thur Vaurca. The invasions of Biesel by Sol and Eeks experiences with Heroes of Tau Ceti lead to it having fantasies about fighting off Solarian Marines. Being informed of the situation with the ECM device and the rogue IPCs on Konyang, Eek is eager to help the Humans struggling there. How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? Eek feels like it belongs in the Ve'katak Phalanx and is happy to be around other Zo'ra Vaurca, It would be better without the C'thur though. Eek is not quite sure why the Phalanx needs the PMCG to organize them, but does not particularly mind.
