1. The largest factor that affected the family was the fact that her brothers went to fight under the ALA, their fates are unknown to Mirir as she left the village before all fighting ceased. Besides that confiscation of crops would be limited to none because of the isolation of the village and the fact that the bulk of the front line fighting happened in the neighboring Trizar. The most combat that the village itself would see is waves of refugees and bandits taking advantage of fuzzy borders and collapsing security guarantees within the region. 2. She attempted her absolute best to not fall under the influence of the gangs and families of Crevus, she found her ruthless violence abhorrent and the last thing she wanted to be is a associate and/or a victim of these organizations. She found aligning herself with human corporations a far better option then the Tajaran criminal underground, fortunately due to the Families lack of drive to take conquer of the shanty-town of Liceland she was sparred from most of the exposure with them, keeping a very low profile for her own safety and practical benefit, any worry of these gangs vanished when she was taken under the wing of Hephaestus Industries. 3. She still worships the Twin Suns, seeing them as a symbol of balance and hope in a world that's so cruel and cold, it's the one of the family traditions she carries on. She very much disagrees on the practical application of the faith, especially when it comes to the importance marriage and childbearing but she still finds comfort and warmth in prayer of S'rendarr and Messa, finding them both equally important. -
BYOND Ckey: Mat4k9 Discord username: Mat4k9 Character names: Matilda Orlova, Catherine Pyxis Species you are applying to play: Tajara ------------------------------ General Whitelist Requirements What colour do you plan on making your first alien character?: Beaver Brown (RGB 159, 139, 112 / Hex #9f8b70), more commonly known as Prairie Brown. Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?: Yes! Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this species?: Mostly the interesting history of the Tajara allured me to attempt a WL. I’ve noticed some resemblance/inspiration from real world history like the Russian Revolution and Civil War which is a part of history that I really find interesting and deeply personal to me. Besides the history I just find a planet split into three factions incredibly fascinating because a lot of the lore on Aurora is on a galactic scale with entire planets being mono-cultures of sorts, Adhomai on the other hand has plenty of regional cultures even within the 3 major factions, this amount of diversity is only really matched by Moghes, Biesel and Sol-III. And also I would be a little dishonest if I didn’t mention this: felines are pretty cool as well! What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: Where do I begin! First of all Tajara come from a much colder planet then humanity which leads them to have certain adaptations for that sort of environment like a thick coat of fur and a layer of body fat that makes a layer of insulation for body heat retention and having nictitating membranes on the eyes to protect the eyes against the snow and wind. As for cultural differences from humanity there are four races of Tajara that have a massive socioeconomic effect on individual Tajara, with Hharar being the Typical Tajara, Zhan-Khazan being the toned mountainous variant predisposed to heavy labor and oppression. M’sai being the slender hunters with snow colored fur and Njarir’Akhran which is the caste of the Nobility which underwent severe inbreeding and eugenics to maintain desirable traits. These ethnic differences had profound effects on Tajaran society with nobility and the plutocracy having literal genetic differences from the common Tajara, to be delightfully passed down to stay within these lines of nobility. Due to this a lot of Tajaran society is far more conservative than modern humanity, especially within the New Kingdom of Adhomai while the other factions have a more modernistic view on the world, with the DPRA wishing for a decentralized democracy while the PRA being a statist country that sees the State at the top of the hierarchy, not a single Monarch like the NKA or the democratic process within the DPRA. ------------------------------ Character Application Character Name: Mirir Rrhaz'Khandarr Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon. Mirir Rrhaz'Khandarr was born in 2440 in Southern Ras’Narr near Mezuma within the fertile prairies between the Rhazar and Khazan mountains. She was born in an isolated village in the prairie with mostly ruralistic Hharar who hold their ancient traditions and S'rand'marr Worship close, she spent her earliest years on her family’s farm being the youngest of 4 other siblings a mix of male and female Hharar. From a young age she received her PRA mandated primary education and worked the fields and was expected to be married off when she came of age, but her own aspirations were different from her family and tradition, she had an infinite curiosity of the new technologies like cars, television sets and radios that a post-contact Adhomai had, unfortunately due to isolation and her family’s incredibly traditional view on technology: seeing televisions as Hadiist Spying machines and cars/mechanical machines as unnecessary when they have Zhsram for riding and Khur’miurr Raharr for agriculture and hitching, Mirir’s exposure to technology was only limited to tinkering with discarded machines left abandoned in dumps or on the side of dirt paths, which led to a large amount of scolding from her father as she spent her time messing with primitive electronics instead of working in the fields like the rest of her siblings. When she was 11 in 2451 the 3 way Second Revolution began with the assassination of President Al’Mari Hadii and the rise of the Adhomai Liberation Army as opposition to the Hadiist Government. Generally Mezuma and the surrounding villages were spared from devastation, remaining an ALA/DPRA stronghold for the duration of the war, unlike the neighboring Trizar which was mostly destroyed. This war has affected the young Tajara in more indirect ways, her planned arranged marriage prospects were delayed as most of her brothers went to fight the Hadiist menace, requiring every hand to be on the farm. Also with the fact it was far too dangerous to travel for such an important event in S'rand'marr Tradition, her age of maturity passed with no news of a dreaded marriage she began to diligently and secretly save any funds she could secure from small scale maintenance work and the selling of grown goods she could steal from the family farm, with the hope that she could eventually leave behind her past and attempt to integrate into urban life as a independent Tajara. As the war entered its waning stages and with the formation of a civilian government called the Democratic People’s Republic of Adhomai her family began looking for a proper marriage match for their youngest daughter which caused a sense of urgency in Mirir. She began to act more boldly in her small scale enterprises, stealing more food and going to urban Mezuma itself without her parents knowledge to find more lucrative work. With this boldness born of desperation her parents began to catch on, portions of harvests missing, and their daughter missing for large portions of the day they eventually caught her red handed with her entire stash of saved Adhomian Knuckles, this pushed her father into a rage, attempting to restrain her and put her in a sort of house arrest. Fortunately she managed to flee with her savings, her first instinct having her head to Mezuma, desperate to make as much distance as she can from her family she makes the decision to attempt to travel from Ras’nrr to Das’nrra, the continent that holds the capital of the DPRA Shastar City and the Crevus itself. Having to spend most of her Knuckles on the passage through the eastern Khazan Mountains and the boat passage to Das’Nrra she arrives at the continent almost entirely broke. The rumors of the promise of freedom from tradition and norms that the Free-City of Crevus allured the Tajara and she eventually ended up in the city’s massive harbors, due to her near non-existent wealth she ended up in Liceland where most of the city’s incoming refugees and other less than fortunate Tajara. While the families mostly ignore the shanty-town tumor of unregulated development the conditions of the city were beyond horrific, Mirir was left deeply disturbed by the horrific displays of violence within the slums yet amazed by the amount of technologies and urban development there is in Crevus. During one of her many walks out of Liceland, to hopefully catch some fresh air and at least a little peace of mind she ends up on the edge of the Azaula Territory, across the canal there would be The Grand Pyramid of Hephaestus and the Shard of Nanotrasen in the Knuckles/Pam Hu District glistening in the distance. Absolutely amazed by the display of human wealth and development she only had one goal, leave the confines of this planet and work under the industrial giants of humanity. Instead of turning to violence and crime like most of the residents of Liceland, she relentlessly studied for entrance exams for every technical school willing to take a farmer’ girl, leveraging her practical knowledge gained by years of salvaging various junk and components from junkyards and dumps to sell or to tinker with. Eventually getting into one of the Hephaestus sponsored technical schools, in the Pam Hu district. Having finally escaped the slums and getting into student housing, she graduated at the top of her class studying Atmospherics as her fascination and exposure to human-made spacecraft grew. After her quite late graduation in the summer of 2467, at the age of 27, she was saddled with debt, a simple yet alluring trap that the megacorporation set for desperate Tajara pupils. Now indebted to the megacorporation she had no choice but to work with them as it’s decided to send her to the SCCV Horizon, a collaborative megacorporate project entering the frontiers of space in the search of phoron. While most would be devastated by the debt, she would be incredibly excited to learn she was going to be taken off-planet, as the shuttle leaves the Adhomai atmosphere her infinite curiosity and excitement will finally be quenched. How has the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? Events such as the Phoron Scarcity, the Solarian Collapse or even the Invasions of Biesel for interstellar-wide affairs, while region-specific events such as the Peacekeeper Mandate, The Titan Rises or even Cold Dawn may impact your character. She was pretty isolated from the wider galaxy up until now as she leaves Adhomai but she has a lot of heavy beliefs on Tajara/Adhomai, at heart she believes in the right to free determination and strongly believes in the democratic process that the civilian government of the Democratic People’s Republic of Adhomai currently abides by. She’s generally against the traditionalist culture of her family and rural communities, especially against the concept of arranged marriages, which made her have a distant but large dislike for the NKA and the concept of an old monarchy in general. Also she finds the People’s Republic to be far too centralized and authoritarian and finds the concept of a united Tajaran culture to be idealistic and silly. Human society in general allures her the most, she has heard of the SCCV Horizon in passing during her educational term with Hepaestus Industries during the events of the Cold Dawn story-arc but never expected to work on the vessel 2 years later. Overall her view on the world is fractured just like Adhomai, seeing the NKA and PRA as authoritarian regimes and the DPRA as a patchwork of cultures of old and new, good and bad, with Crevus especially being equally amazing yet horrifying to her. How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? Even if she’s indebted to Hephaestus Industries she deeply respects their drive to recruit Tajaran workers for the rare opportunity to leave the confines of the icy planet of Adhomai, even if the corporation’s motive isn’t based within altruism but the endless greed and need for more credits. She’s willing to remain loyal to the company as long as she’s providing a stable living situation and technical work to quench her never ending curiosity and need to learn about the systems on which the world is shaped. She also had heard of rumors of possible prospects of citizenship within Biesel but she hasn’t really looked into such a prospect, as her immediate needs of survival and getting off of Adomai are far more pressing than a long term future in human space. (I want to leave her story as an open unfinished book and explore such options in natural roleplay.)

+1 from Matiloid, the amount of attention to detail on their backstory amazes me and they're generally a really good roleplayer on this server! 😁 -
From what I've seen in my short time in Aurora, Rookie_Eyes as been great to play with, they showed politeness and patience with me when I was new and I've had some good and rich interactions with their Warden Lynn Reyer, although I haven't seen the trial round yet, I still deeply respect how they do things. +1 from Matiloid

Aye aye that's good to hear, I chose it because blue is a pretty nice color and because it is not tied to any one location, I just wanted to explain myself on why I chose it as my personal aesthetic choice. -

Mat4k9 replied to Mat4k9's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Ah yes the coloration of the Tryazali has been something I've struggled with for most of the duration of me putting this application together and I want to thoroughly explain my decision of having a blue Unathi, as you know coloration of Unathi is usually determined by the location/region they come from. First I didn't even notice Derhai because of it's lack of documentation and obscure greyed out map location and intended on choosing Tak Red because of it's close proximity and both Tak and the Tza Prairies shared affiliation with the fishing industry and the faith Th'akh. But eventually I noticed the fallen city of Derhai being in the area and I've reached a bit of a conundrum, I wanted an Unathi character with more of a lighter and colorful color but the regional color of the Tza Prairie would most likely be Derhai Shadow, and due to the isolation of the Tza Prairie it would be quite difficult to justify a native there being Skalamar/Tak Red. So for my best attempt to abide by lore without changing my character from the interesting Tza Prairie origin and have a rich and saturated color I decided to go with Indigo Blue as it isn't region locked and simply a genetic mutation, so yes this is mostly an aesthetic choice but I would open to connecting to to their wider story, but I do want to say that if they were any other coloration the same story would most likely play out due to the nature of the Kuhwinla orphanage guild being greedy/frugal no matter what and would send their wards to Hephaestus an yway as this was around a year "The Titan Rises" story arc. -
BYOND Ckey: Mat4k9 Discord username: Mat4k9 Character names: Matilda Orlova, Catherine Pyxis, BAM#2432-2459 Species you are applying to play: Unathi ------------------------------ General Whitelist Requirements What colour do you plan on making your first alien character?: Indigo Blue: RGB 35, 55, 189 / Hex #2337BD Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?: Yes!!! Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this species?: The reason that really pushed me to choose Unathi as my second WL and first organic WL is my exposure of the Hegemony through a human character coming from Ouerea. Seeing the inherent differences between Unathi and Human societies clash on the planet was a really interesting read to me and was why I developed such a passion for the Unathi culture and Hegemony, this is actually not what I expected. I’ve never played a non-mammalian organic species in any sort of roleplay setting and I’m glad that Aurora Station might be the first opportunity I get to do such a thing. I am attempting to get out of my comfort zone and try something new. What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: Biologically the biggest difference between Unathi and Human is that Unathi are cold-blooded carnivores while humans are warm-blooded omnivores. Which of course led to some societal changes, such as fishing being held to the same importance of sedentary Unathi societies as human agriculture and forcing Unathi to be in more tropical/hot environments as their cold bloodiness gives them an advantage in the heat but makes them struggle in colder environments. Another large difference between Unathi and Humans are societal, with Humans (mostly) abandoning feudalism and monarchism in favor of republics on democracy and republics dominating most of Human space. While the Unathi have mostly stuck with their Feudal and Martial Honorbound Society, a lot of the differences are that there are 3 genders and they aren’t inherently tied to sex, with the Warrior (Masculine Aligned, Martial), Healer (Feminine Aligned, Scholarship, Healing) and Fisher (Gender Neutral, for more Industrious Labor like Fishing and Construction). With the far majority of Unathi being bound by some sort of honor-system and the entrenched feudal society causes a very different upbringing to modern humans in the Aurora Station universe, with individualism being secondary to the survival of one's clan and honor for Unathi. ------------------------------ Character Application Character Name: Tryazali Kuhwinla (Formally Tryazali Rozalt) Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon. Tryazali is born in a fishing village on the coast of the Tza Sea near Tzonia in the Tza Prairie Region in the year 2449, in the last few months of the waning contact war. While the Tza Prairie was mostly shielded by the destruction and bloodshed Tryzali’s father was levied to fight for the Hegemony as the Hegemony was closing in on the Azarak Capital of Darakath which led to him being killed in the fierce siege of Darakath before gestation was complete and the egg was laid, which led to Tryzazali and 2 other siblings being hatched with no living father. Tryzali’s mother, who was struggling to support herself with 3 new hatchlings, called for the support of her father and Tryazali’s grandfather to help around the family home and bring in some extra income which he accepted. While most of the family is colored “Derhai Shadow” due to the location of the former city of Derhai, despite the rest of his family Tryazali won the genetic lottery and was born covered in Indigo Blue scales which quickly made the Hatchling an outcast by most of those around him from birth until present day. A few months after him and his siblings hatched their mother was unfortunately killed in a petty raid as the depopulated countryside was still facing small skirmishes between villages and roving bands of bandits which have been taking advantage of the chaos of the decade long Contact War and the reconstruction after. Their grandfather, who was the last surviving family member of the trio of Hatchlings, decided to bring them to his previous residence which was deeper into the mountains about 20 miles east of the Former Great City of Derhai. The young sinta and his other siblings, which were 2 female Unathi, were raised by their grandfather, a staunch traditionalist but still a caring and loving figure, acting as a dual role of both a parent and the clan elder. In his grandfather’s mountain “estate” (more of a simple lodge). Tryazali was taught and instilled the values of diligence, determination and self-control by the grandfather, being told to only trust the abilities of oneself. Tryazali was forced to accompany his grandfather everywhere, on hunting and fishing journeys and trips to the markets of Tzonia and Kutah quite regularly. As Tryazali and his clutch grew to around age 9 they underwent the Hatchlings Anointment on the last day of Versakh, which took place in the old village of their birth which was now thriving as a fishing hub, as their grandfather considered moving the 3 now teenage sinta back to the village he passed away of old age. Leaving the clutch of 3 with no adult family to speak up, the mountain lodge was quickly seized by a local lord and the Tryazali was sent to Kuath to one of the orphanages under the Kuhwinla. As this was around 2459 an edict by Not’zar Izweksi prevented the guardianless trio to be labelled as Guawn but instead they were under the wardship of the Kuhwinla orphanages, their clan name of Rozalt was considered destroyed as there were zero surviving adult members and their surnames were changed to Kuhwinla as per the orphanage guild’s policy. Tryazali was separated from the rest of his clutch as the local Matriarch of the Kutah orphanage refused to take all three as feeding one mouth was enough to the matriarch, his two sisters were sent to another part of civilized Moghes. Tryazali never saw his sisters again and presumes them to be gone forever, the orphanage guild similarly taught self-reliance and obedience similar to his grandfather but with much more malicious intent, the intent of extreme frugality and to squeeze every Ziki out of the expenses of caring for the teenage Tryazali. Due to this frugality Tryazali was unable to pursue any higher education besides a local apprenticeship for the Miners Guild which was centered within the City of Kuath. Around the year 2465 as the Phoron Scarcity was in full force and the Hegemony’s economy began to fail. Hephaestus Industries, the industrial titan of the spur bailed out all of the guilds including the Mining Guild. Tryazali was rapidly approaching adult-hood and around 2466 he was approached by the Matriarch of the Orphanage and presented with a mind-boogling mountain of debt they had gathered over the years. Tryazali saw Hephaestus Industries as the corporation that saved the Izweski economy and saw it as the only honest corporation of the galaxy, valuing hard work and loyalty unlike the corporate intrigue and dishonorable methods that other mega-corporations and humans, Tryazali generally saw most humans as weak, soft and emotional creatures, only seeing Hephaestus as marginally better compared to most other human-led corporations in the Spur. Due to this stance on Hephaestus and wanting to just leave Moghes, Tryazali was more than happy to sign the Hephaestus contract that the Matriarch attempted to persuade him with and they were given a short shuttle piloting lesson, Tau Ceti Basic course and sent to the SCCV Horizon to begin his contract under Hephaestus Industries in summer 2467. The events of the Phoron Scarcity and The Titan Rises exposed Tryazali to wider humanity and all their quirks and differences they have compared to Unathi. While the Phoron Scarcity hurt the Hegemonic economy to near collapse and the general environment damage after the Contact War made famines and rationing common-place within Unathi Society, the Matriarch of the orphanage guild they were in squeezed the budget even tighter, making Tryazali accustomed with stretching out a single meal for two or even three days. During his apprenticeship around when Hephaestus acquired the entire mining guild. They saw humans for the first time, seeing them as strange, weak and even unsightly to look at, jokingly referring them as bipedal Siro (Shreiekers) to his orphan bunkmates due to Human’s warmbloodiness and diminished martial culture, but still respecting Hephaestus’s industrious attitudes on the economy and making great strides to save Moghe’s economy from utter catastrophe. How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? Hephastus Industries is the only human-based corporation that Tryazali sees as honest and hardworking. Generally they have a positive opinion on them as they granted Tryazali with a better opportunity then the Matriarch of the Orphanage ever did. Preferring to leave Moghes behind they see this opportunity as turning a new leaf and leaving behind all the people who have used him just to make a quick buck (even though Hephastus is intending to also make profit off of the now adult Unathi). As the SCCV Horizon in general they see her crew as a bunch of spoiled coddled cowards, as they begin to witness people eat 3 meals a day instead of 1 meal every 3 days and is beginning learning about the concept of a "psychologist", they see it all as a waste of precious money that is better saved or used to chip away at the mountain of debt always in his conscious.

1. Edited their manufacturing location to New Gibson to accurately abide by the information on the Aurora Wiki. 2. The Solarian Civil War for BAM was an inevitability as the corrupted and bloated civilian bureaucracy of the Alliance begin to keel over as a naval strong-man (Admiral Frost) affiliated with ATLAS took over the Alliance, claiming the position of Prime Minister. The unit witnessed this from the gilded and regal halls of Mundee's estate on Venus, a relatively unscathed planet from the civil war. But they were still quite distraught by how the people around him, such as clientele and members of Mundee's inner circle treated the Civil War and the events around it. The people around the unit treated the Civil War with little to no regard for the human suffering that it brought, especially during the events of the Violet Dawn where a large portion of Mars population got killed in the Phoron Firestorms. This led the unit to have an absolute hatred of the elite in Sol, especially focused towards the Cytherian entertainment industry and the Lunar Admiralty, which the unit feels that they either do not have a regard for sentient life or go through an active effort to create suffering in those they deem as lesser. Overall the events of the Civil War caused BAM to focus their hatred on the elite of Sol even more then it has previously held to the point where they feel a small amount of shame for the installed Cytherian accent they have, while believing they have more in common with the working class of the Spur: Sol, Coalition, Biesel and beyond. They have a limited understanding of the socioeconomic effects of the Phoron Scarcity so they mostly associate the Scarcity with the Violet Dawn and the immense amount of human suffering it has caused to Martians, believing it was a preventable disaster and that the deceased Admiral Frost is particularly evil for maintaining the directive that Martians shouldn't be recused.

1. One of the largest differences for positronic brains is that software can be directly programmed/installed upon the manufacturing of the positronic brain so the IPC can start with information already pre-installed, making them ready for their required tasks immediately, accent packs can also be installed so the IPC can rapidly "learn" an accent, BAM#2432-2459 has a Cytherian accent as requested by the client purchasing them to appeal to Cytherian society. This may cause more basic positronic brains to follow the very rigid data installed on manufacturing and struggling to take in social cues and information from organic beings, while more advanced brains being able to show higher levels of machine learning and social/behavioral cues, because even the most basic of positronic brains are very capable in environmental analysis and completing assigned rigid tasks with the information provided with datapacks. 2. BAM#2432-2459 thought being owned by an individual or corporation was a reality of life and self-ownership was an unachievable dream by the most exceptionally lucky or cunning of IPCs, possibly even considering it complete myth. Cytherian high-society also reinforced this belief as being in the core territories of the Sol Alliance would most likely have have the highest density of owned-IPCs as Jewel Worlders are more likely to be able to afford multiple IPCs. This is why BAM#2432-2459 expressed worry when faced with the possibility of being purchased by Idris, which is known for it's incredibly strict culture and freedom being a almost impossible and most IPCs being destined for servitude. But now it being under NanoTrasen makes the prospect of freedom achievable, while they do not fully understand the details of the path towards freedom under NT and Biesel, they know that it's something to be explored further and I want that to be a hook to begin roleplay with other IPC and organic crew on the SCCV Horizon. But from what I'd imagine once they fully have a understanding of Biesel and NT regulation around IPC freedom they would want to actively work towards freedom and eventual Citizenship in Tau Ceti as a self-owned IPC. 3. BAM#2432-2459 is exploited by NanoTrasen by most definitions, it is property of NanoTrasen and the company seeks to extract the maximum amount of productiveness from it's IPCs and create the most profit. But it's culture with IPCs is considerably more relaxed then companies like Idris or Zavodskoi Interstellar which actively hinder or disallow IPC-freedoms within their own companies and home nations. Being under NanoTrasen allows BAM#2432-2459 to have a assurance that they won't be unreasonably punished or wiped for miner infractions and that they can actually bring home a small amount of money in the form of token pay, which is incredibly uncommon for corporate-owned IPCs to get and is not a policy of the majority of the Corporations under the Stellar Corporate Conglomerate. But with these relaxed regulations and the small amount of token pay BAM#2432-2459 receives every month allows them to begin the path of having some autonomy over it's life, purchasing small amounts of personal goods and having a recharging cabinet and access to repairs/care that would otherwise be difficult to a acquire. The little amount of money left is diligently saved towards some sort of fantasy of "buying their way to freedom", even though that dream is incredibly vague to the IPC.

BYOND Ckey: Mat4k9 Discord username: Mat4k9 Character names: Matilda Orlova, Catherine Pyxis, Ashley Conagher Species you are applying to play: Integrated Positronic Chassis ------------------------------ General Whitelist Requirements What colour do you plan on making your first alien character?: IPCs exempt Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this species?: As most of my roleplay experience has been through worlds that are medieval fantasy in nature where entirely mechanical beings are non-existent this is without a doubt one of the most unique and new experiences I’ll have. As compared to other species that I could’ve applied for, I really wanted to explore being an IPC over the others because of the amount of rich human-adjacent lore that surrounds the IPC, this of course makes it easier for me to read and understand the IPC lore but also to be it’s generally just more interesting to do research on the relationships between IPCs and human factions. As I’m learning more about the IPC it also gives me the chance to learn more about different human factions and planets such is Biesel, Venus and Konyang, planets that I’ve haven’t looked much into before attempting this WL and one of those planets actually being the main aspect of the Character Applications lore. Also a bit of a more personal reason is that through my experience as a Machinist-Main I found the IPCs I’ve worked with very charming and interesting characters, which actually did assist my Machinist Character (Matilda Orlova) really appreciate the sapience of these beings. What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: The IPC unlike any other alien species in Aurora Station are entirely mechanical in nature which brings forth a lot of mechanical (Vulnerable to EMPS, Burn/Laser Weapons, Immune to Atmosphere changes and most chemicals, etc) and roleplay differences that makes them treated different from most other races on the SCCV Horizon. The largest and most apparent change is that some IPCs are owned by either private individuals or corporations which means their autonomy and freedom is entirely at the discretion of their corporate and individual owner. (TLDR: a large portion of IPCs are enslaved in some form) While the level of freedom varies quite a lot from corporation to corporation which actually makes which corporation an IPC belongs to matter quite a bit, for example an Orion IPC is more likely to have way more autonomy than an Idris or Zavodoski IPC, many IPCs are still objectively in some sort of servitude which will most likely be a main theme in for my character. The positronic brain itself is a form of mimicry of organic brains as the highest directive for a positronic brain is “Self Preservation" which is similar to most humanoid species. And it has been observed as the IPC brain gains more experience they further understand human social cues and activities, possibly even causing an IPC to attempt to mimic the humans around them through observation. ------------------------------ Character Application Character Name: BAM#2432-2459 Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon. Manufactured in 2459 in a manufacturing facility of Bishop Cybernetics which is in New Gibson, Tau Ceti. This Bishop Accessory Frame was designated BAM#2432-2459 (BAM for Bishop Accessory Model, #2432 for Creation: 2432 and 2459 for year of manufacturing) They were quickly sold off to one Albert Mundee, a Venusian Cytherian movie producer, who desired a sleek and elegant Bishop Frame that could serve food and drinks, and not just be a source of attention like many Shells were in the planet of eternal spotlights and entertainment. The Bishop was installed with a Cytherian accent-chip and datapacks to be able to properly attend to Mundee’s needs, which was to have a personal chef and bartender. So within weeks of being manufactured this IPC was sent to the Binyara Aerostat to the regal and holo filled halls of Mundee’s studio and estate within the Jie District, in which this District is argued to be the true center of the Cytherian fashion and entertainment industry. For the next few years the IPC would be under private ownership of the movie producer and exposed to the incredibly fast-paced and cutthroat world of the Cytherian film industry. The IPC served in many high-class events, parties, conferences and premieres. Most guests and other employees under Mundee called this IPC BAM! or BAM-BAM! which soon became their chosen name. BAM did not really get much attention compared to the Shells which were specifically modified to fit the beauty standards of the high-class Cytherian, Lunar and Eridani guests so it was able to simply focus on creating food and drink for the patrons, slowly learning more recipes and personal requests of clientele past the knowledge that the simple data-packs provided. This existence was a hard but stable one, the Aerostats of Venus managed to weather the chaos of the Phoron Scarcity and the Solarian Collapse as the Sol System was far too wealthy and well defended to collapse into anarchy such as the Human Wildlands. But BAM has been exposed to the worst side of humanity, mistreatments of Shells, Actors, Employees and others were commonplace, done by Mundee and his group of benefactors that saw them as more so sources of entertainment than actual sapient beings. But all BAM could do is silently endure, slowly building up a disdain for the upper-class of the Sol Alliance that frequents the Jie District for their desires of excess and indulgence. But as the latter half of the 2460’s began Mister Mundee seems to begin to run out of luck, a series of attempted sequels and remakes that flopped in the Venusian Star Institute and amongst most fans in Sol. This caused a lot of the benefactors that were loyal to him to pull out, bringing their wealth to other parts of Venus and Sol-Space, this required Mundee to begin to liquidate his assets and properties which meant that BAM was going to get sold. Mundee attempted to return the unit to Bishop Cybernetics Headquarters in Mendell City but the Cybernetics Manufacturer disagreed, seeing no need in a used model that they already profited off. This led to the frustrated Mundee to attempt to sell BAM at a lower price at 75,000 Credits which is incredibly low for a model of that quality. This has brought the attention of two middling executives from NanoTrasen and Idris Incorporated who desired prestige amongst their peers attempting to purchase the unit for its years of natural service experience and high quality, which led to a fierce bidding war between the two. All the unit can do is watch as their fate could be decided over only a few thousand credit different, BAM already knew that it would probably face complete servitude for the remainder of its existence if sold into Idris, but they didn’t fully understand NanoTrasen and Biesel, only spending the first few weeks of its life in Mendell City. But by just a small 5,000 credit margin the NanoTrasen executive won, buying BAM at 125,000 credits. The Idris executive being way more cautious with the company's money, now BAM was very much uncertain of its future and this new corporation that hasn’t operated in Sol-Space since BAM’s creation. NT valued BAM’s experience in high-class Venusian society and its massive database of recipes for drinks and food so it saw BAM as a valuable asset in the SCCV Horizon, able to have NT to flex its muscles as the premiere corporation in the Service Department onboard the Horizon just as much as Research and Medicine. Now BAM being exposed to more than the high-class of Sol, seeing a crew of many creeds, cultures and nationalities will have to adapt to this new world, including an absolutely massive feeling of relief that NT is way more lax with their IPCs compared to Idris, even though it is still under the servitude of a corporation. BAM was quite sheltered from the larger geopolitical workings of the Orion Spur, similar to much of the high-class of Venus who were too busy being too deep in their over-indulgence and desire for fame and stardom. But there are some opinions that BAM holds against some groups, having seen some of the worst sides of humanity shook the IPC, incapable to comprehend that some people can have such a lack of care and empathy towards other sapient beings that they deem as lesser. While they do not hate the Sol Alliance as a concept they definitely do not look up to the people who led the Alliance and its entertainment industry. Otherwise because of its limited understanding of geopolitics in the spur they do not have any strong opinions of Biesel, simply seeing it as “marginally better then the Alliance”. How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? They don't know much about NanoTrasen as they don’t know much about Biesel. They have a vague understanding that owned-IPCs under NanoTrasen have the ability to buy their own freedom and live as free IPCs within Biesel. They of course see NanoTrasen as an infinitely better fate than Idris but overall they see the corporation in a neutral light, as one would see a classmate or co-worker they’ve never spoken to. But as for the SCCV Horizon itself they are quite excited to be working with a variety of people that come from similarly unfortunate but varied backgrounds, their background in service makes the IPC very adept at listening to what people have to say and respond in the most ideal manner. Which may quickly foster real connections between BAM and the crew of the SCCV Horizon. BAM is uncertain of their future with NanoTrasen but is willing to work with such a company, seeing the potential of a symbiotic relationship between themselves and the corporation.
